Good Korean food in Koreatown in New York City! This place has been around for some time now. Good food. Wonderful service. Their outdoor seating is nice with heaters. It’s a good place to get Korean BBQ.

I must express my utmost disappointment with my recent experience at this establishment. As someone who frequently orders the Galbi Tang (short rib soup) from here, I am appalled and genuinely concerned for the safety of their customers. I placed the order on Tuesday night but only had the opportunity to eat it today (Thursday). To my shock, while eating the soup, I discovered an alarming presence of not just one, but three sizable pieces of ceramics. Regrettably, one of these pieces caused a minor cut in my mouth as I unsuspectingly bit into it. When I reached out to the manager to express my dissatisfaction and concern, I was met with a complete lack of empathy. Instead of offering a sincere apology, the manager's initial response was, "So what do you want? Money?" It is disheartening that their focus seemed to be more on monetary compensation rather than addressing the potential dangers associated with ingesting these foreign objects. I understand that accidents can occur in a kitchen setting, and I am hesitant to leave negative reviews that could adversely impact small businesses. However, considering the shattered ceramics found in the soup, my assumption is that a mishap occurred in the kitchen and instead of discarding the contaminated soup, they chose to serve it, potentially endangering customers. This level of negligence and irresponsibility concerning food safety is unacceptable. The establishment ought to take immediate action to investigate how such a lapse in quality control could have happened, and to prioritize the improvement of their customer service. In all honesty, I cannot recommend this place to any other prospective diners. Paying $26 for a soup and risking harm while consuming it is simply not worth it.

Run-of-the-mill Korean food, nothing too special. The best item was the side of Spicy Soft Tofu Stew that came with the combo as its broth was tasty. The Spicy Pork Gobdol Bibimbob was stingy on the pork, and the Boo Dae Jungol, LA Galbi, and Udon were meh. The wait for the food was short. The meal was pricey, likely due to the location rather than a reflection of the food's quality.

Google doesn't do 1/2 stars, so I did a 3, but I think its more like a 3.5 to me. All in all, the food wasn't bad nor the service not good, it was that by comparison to other K places in the area, the food taste fell below some of the competitors; both on the side dishes and main entrees.

My go to Korea place.. after movie my friend and I went dinner (around 7pm) Saturday.. pretty crowded.. we sit on first floor.. I love their foods I always ended up eating there bring friends and family. Left one star for service.. we ordered drinks.. we need to asked several times to get the drinks . They need to improve the service quality. Even though I love the food , the poor service, would not be coming back. I like better service for the money that I paid.

Authentic & delicious. Right smack in the middle of Koreatown - there is always a line but it generally moves quick. Kunjip is a place to eat well & then move on. Not a restaurant to linger or have a romantic evening but definitely a place to get authentic & delicious Koren food. Just about everything we ordered was good especially the BBQ. One does leave the restaurant “infused” with the flavours & aromas of what you ate but that’s typical of any BBQ joint. We had a table of 10 (reservations for bigger groups highly recommended) & the food came swiftly & in good sequence. It was a good evening out!

Very nice seafood Pajeon, side dish also quite nice ( specially the squid). Samgyetang, a whole small chicken with rice inside, definitely need the salt ( eat it with salt on the side), taste a bit like Chinese porridge, but with less rice.

This is a Korean restaurant. The queue is long but we did not wait for a long time. There are unlimited small dishes of veggie, which is the standard for Korean restaurants. We ordered curb and a veggie dish. The curb is average and there is no crackers provided. We used the bowl to break the crab shells. The veggie is fair and does not look very impressive. I ordered a pear juice, $6, but it was only 240ml, which is quite over-priced, as a canned drink.

This is a great Korean restaurant serving up all of your traditional Korean dishes. There’s 2 floors and the second floor is primarily for parties looking to have table BBQ. We sat on the first floor since we were looking to get a couple of the soup dishes. We ordered the Kam Ja Tang (spicy pork bone and potato stew), which was really good and had plenty of meat in there which I liked, and the Budae Chigae (spicy kimchi, noodles, sausages, and tofu stew), which was also very good. They weren’t skimpy on the banchan assortment (these are complementary side dishes that are random based on the day) which I also liked since some Korean restaurants in Manhattan can be real stingy - they came out with 7 different types and all were delicious, and after seeing that we were scarfing these down, the waitress kindly offered to bring more out for us. :) Overall, the service here was quick and very friendly and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I’ll definitely be coming back and I highly recommend giving this place a try if you’re in the neighborhood.

Food is normal/nothing special - actually a bit salty to my taste ( I will not come here for how tasty the food is). Continent, opens late and offers affordable options. But I really like the efficient service and friendly staff. A place that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Interestingly. They use a pipe to send orders and receipts - very cool and practical.

We did a takeout order via seamless from The Kunjip and the the process went smoothly. There was an extra 25% off for every first order. We ordered dukboki (rice cake) and dogani moochim (beef tendon), it came with complimentary sides which weren’t good. The beef tendon was braised flavorful, soft and perfect with rice cake. The portion was really great and we even couldn’t finish all in one meal with a very reasonable price.

The seafood pancake was FULL of seafood— oysters and squid from what I could tell. The flavor was great. Honestly, the small was enough to fill me up. Their banchan was so great— this is the best part of Korean food for me. The little tasty side dishes. Kimchi, fish cake, green beans, kimchi radish, etc. I could eat them with some rice and be happy lol. You’re not there for the service FYI. They were a bit pushy, but that does mean the line to wait moved very quickly!

Delicious food and warm hospitality is a back-at-home experience you get at The Kunjip. Juicy meat BBQ’d in front of your eyes accompanied with mouth watering ramen rice cake and finally cooled down with cold noodles is one way to accomplish that. We were lucky enough to get a taste of crunchy fresh peppers homegrown by the owner.

A pretty okay place, not the best nor the worst. The waiters gave us free food that I'm assuming nobody wanted but I appreciate the gesture anyways. The food was alright. The tteokbokki and dumplings were delicious whilist we couldnt take more than 2 bites of other dishes.

2nd time here. Visited 12/25/2023 around 7pm. First experience on nov 2023 was great. I like the lady who assisted us but the 2nd one (younger) 👎🏼 didnt seem happy to serve us even though we were all very pleasant. Maybe she was tired but i believe you still have to be nice to your customers. She kinda ruined our mood and it was Christmas day! They were all like rushing the people I didn’t like the feeling! It’s like they were all about making money. I understand it’s a business but please make it enjoyable for the customers. The food wasn’t bad but i would say the food served the first time i was here was better than the second. The quality of the food didn’t match what we paid for. Quite expensive. It looks good on the photo though. I must say they make a good japchae. But I’m giving it 3 stars for food because it’s only japchae and the ambience of the place that I really liked here.

Very spacious Korean BBQ restaurant located in ktown NYC. It is a great place to have a dinner. Service was ok and the food quality was good. Marinated Short Ribs (5/5): very soft and well-seasoned Beef Brisket (3/5): good quality but little tough Kam Ja Tan (4/5): meat was tender Gondola Bibimbap (4/5)

Gejang is kinda new style and more refreshing instead of heavy taste. Bbq is OK, but they cook for you which is not bad. Grilled fish is really good, they cut it into pieces for you.

They give out free steamed egg and some banchan. Food is good, but the kimche stew is not, tteokboki is a must, galbitang as well. Service is the reason I will not give a 5 star. But food is ok.

The food was amazing! Luckily we got there before the dinner rush, as there was a big line of people waiting. We also had a guest with whose never had Korean food, and he absolutely loved it! We ate so much, we waddled out of there 🤤

All my favorite Korean dishes in one spot! Made with really good quality ingredients. My ultimate favorite though was the combo 1(Combination of Prime Short Rib, Dry-Aged Prime Rib-Eye Steak, Unseasoned Prime Rib-Eye + Stew) - the meat was SO tender and flavorful on its own I did not need any extra seasoning. Also do not sleep on their steamed egg! Actually much more flavorful than others I’ve tried in ktown.

Busy bordering on chaotic casual Korean on the main strip in ktown. Food is decent, authentic Korean flavors and preparation. Service is brusque and not charming. They want you in and out. Mandoo were tasty, seafood pancake also good. My short rib soup/stew was just ok, not bad. The waitress charged us about $20 more than the item we ordered in an apparent mistake. Just saying, check your bills people.

I had a life changing experience at The Kunjip. My girlfriend and I, hungry and willing to try something new, stumbled upon the restaurant at last minute. This very lovely waitress, whose name I unfortunately did not ask for, comes out and pulled us in before their kitchen closed. We quickly ordered vegetarian options which where phenomenal. However, the reason why I felt so moved by this place was not only for the great food, but for the hospitality of the lady that served us. She was extremely outgoing and attentive and wanted nothing but to make our experience the best it could be. At the end of our dinner, she went out of her way and kindly served us a cup of complementary cinnamon-ginger tea. This tea literally made me tear up, i’ve never had better cup of tea and it felt very personal. I expressed this to the woman and she gifted me a tub of the tea so I that could have more later. We will more than certainly be back when I visit again to return more of the love that was gifted that night.

The food was nice but I’m not very impressed with the service. When we arrived, no one attended to us or offering the menu. There was only 3-4 tables that time, not very busy. The waitress was trying to grill the meat for us. I know it’s Korean way to do so but we prefer to do it ourselves. I wanted to cook the meat as per my preference (medium rare). However, the waitress put everything on the stove and the meat became too well-done for me. Even we tried to tell her that we would prefer to do it ourselves. She was ignoring our request and continued cooking those meats. I have to pile them up on my plate as I didn’t want it well-done. And the fire was too strong as we saw meats starting to get burnt. We asked her to reduce the heat but she didn’t even respond to our request. We are customers and I think we have the right to choose how we want to eat our food. The staff should be more friendly and more attentive to customer. I wouldn’t go back again though.

🤔 We did not have the best experience eating here. Probably we were not lucky with what we order. The service was fine. We are just not very enthusiastic to go back. The presentation of the food was amazing and very appealing but the taste was not in our side.

Came in at a good time so I was able to get seated when I arrived, the service was friendly and felt welcoming. The food was amazing and portions were very filling as well. Price was good as well! Split between 3 people, we each payed a good amount for the amount of food we received. I definitely recommend the Thin Sliced Pork Belly and Spicy Boneless Chicken. Definitely a restaurant I always want to come to in Koreatown!

I have always ordered from this place whenever I craved Korean food. This is my first time eating at the place and the service was exceptional. They were crowded because it wad Christmas day but they took us in with a smile. The food was on point and it was more delicious since it was served freshly. I would definitely to come here again and continue to order online
