    This location is in the parking of the Newport Center Mall. This is located near the A3 pillar on the ground level. The center is small, a little difficult to find and you don't have a lot of options like the ones at the airport. The service is good and the staff is willing to help and answer all questions. I have always had good experiences here and whenever they run out of cars I get an upgrade at a very affordable rates. The return process is absolutely seamless as well.

    Worst hertz I have ever been to, waiting since 1 hour and looks like will be waiting for a car for 1 more hour. The staff is so unhelpful, not answering any questions. Taking 25 mins per customer to get them cars. I have never seen any rental place take so much time get a car ready for you. Please avoid!

    You will wait for a long time. They might not have your car. People will cut you in line. They are severely understaffed. All in the beautiful surroundings of a exhaust filled parking garage. Oh and you'll have to pay for the time you waited in the garage when you leave through the gate.

    Very bad service, there’s a line with about 10+ people and the car rental company doesn’t have staff more than two people. One of them is cleaning cars right in front of you and the other one is juggling between sitting at the counter and then driving the car from the parking lot to the front desk. I have been sitting here for 20minutes already and barely two customers managed to get their cars, still 6 more to go 😭😭😭

    Waited here for over an hour which based on other reviews seems like nothing. We kept being told to create multiple queues and move between them so a lot of inefficient and pointless moving around of people. Also a lot of the staff was just standing waiting to be told to do something by the manager instead of actively trying to help. We finally get the car and it is full of trash from the previous clients so clearly nobody bothered to check it before renting it again.

    If you love waiting 2 hours on a weekend then this is the perfect place for you! I have no life and nothing to do on weekends so I love coming here.

    First it was difficult to find. Staff was okayish, but a smile on their faces would have been more pleasant. I booked a full size car for the entire weekend, prepaid!! But they said they don't have it and rather gave me a stupid mini-van which was old, smelly, and very inconvenient to drive in the city. The wipers were all worn out and I could barely see anything as it was a rainy weekend. Terrible experience.no wonder they got bankrupt

    Do not rent with the Herz they overcharge a lot of additional fees! Waiting too long! Employees doesn’t help you out seems like they are more happy if you don’t book with them. Highly recommend not to use this rental company one of the worst i have experienced!!!

    The associates working went above and beyond to find us a vehicle that suited our needs for our vacation. The Chevy Suburban had a small dent in the side door is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Overall the checkout service was 5 stars, hands down.

    Don’t bother to rent a car for uber. if you book an appointment then you will always get a message that they don’t have any vehicles left. I did it probably 10 times at-least. When I booked it on the same day to book and reached there an hour before. First thing they asked me when did you book an appointment because otherwise they would simply send you message that they don’t have it. They also very rude nothing is good about them. Total waste of time. I really hope hertz takes action on them because they simply not doing their job.

    Avoid at all costs. Very slow service. Even with a reservation, they do not clean the cars until you arrive to come pick it up. It's been over 30 min from the time I stopped by the office to pick up the rental til now and I'm still waiting for the car. Employees here do not value customer service.

    Caution! - avoid this agency to pick up your vehicle. Appears that management and support for the staff is non-existent. They wait for you to pick up your car before cleaning it. Ours was still filthy when we left after an hour wait with only one person in front of us on a Monday morning. You wait in the parking garage with no chairs in the heat. The 1 person cleaning vehicles is permitted to blast his music so that you are required to listen to it until you leave. This location does not answer their phone. I had a question after picking up the vehicle. The location never picked up the phone even when trying different days. The Hertz 1-800 # sends you in a call loop, so that you can spend hours on the phone during your vacation to get a simple question answered. When returning the vehicle, there was no one available to share that the a/c wasn't really cool enough for a check before renting again. I reported the concerns after dropping off the vehicle on-line. The response was disappointing. They said sorry but gave no indication that they would check into the car's a/c or conditions at the agency for future customers and the current employees. They shared that I should have selected the Emergency Road Side Assistance # in the call loop. Really?? Therefore posting to make certain others can be advised.

    Don’t rent from this location unless you are willing to wait 30-45 minutes for your car pickup. Staff friendliness does not excuse the inefficient process. I’ve rented cars here over 20 times and 9 out of 10 times is always the same. This is the closest location to me so I have little choice but to rent from them. But if you have a choice rent from another location.

    Arrived at 9 to pick up the car. Waited till 12 noon with no hope of getting the car for 1 more hour. Cancelled and went home. Ruined my long weekend plan. This place shouldn't exist. Most people who were in the long line, cancelled their booking and went home and cancelled their weekend plans. Overall this place only wastes human time and doesn't provide any service. Barely 2% of people who booked their car ended up getting their car. Even those people had their plans delayed. Never booking with Hertz again.

    Why does no one pick up the calls here? What's the point of having a number to call? They block up many cars on the website, and make you call the location to reserve and no one ever takes calls anytime of the day ever.C'mon.

    This location routinely accepts reservations for cars they don't have available. Twice in 3 months they accepted my reservation then told me they have no cars after I paid transportation costs to get to their location. I think I might sue.

    Avoid! The woman said they would charged me the underage fee even though I’m older than 25years old… just don’t understand how they stay in business even with such a ridiculous system. My Hertz profile and my reservation all CLEARLY stated I’m 27. I guess at Hertz, the computer made a decision for your birthday now. Just disappointed.

    Came here on short notice since my car failed on me and had to get it towed. Walked right in and the manager assisted me immediately. With all the news of rental car shortages and being expensive I was relieved when I was able to get an SUV at a very affordable price. Car was super clean inside and out. Manager was very friebd and helpful and explained everything clearly and left no question unanswered. By the time I left here my stressful day was much better! I highly recommend!

    Prepaid for a weeklong rental car about a month in advance and ahead of picking the car up, I checked google maps to see the location and saw the terrible reviews people had left…but my experience was very different. I picked the car up at 8am on a Tuesday and arrived at the location at 7:40am and was first in line. By the time they opened, there was a line of about five people. I was out the door in my clean, fully charged car with a working parking garage exit ticket by 8:15am. Perhaps things are better early in the morning and midweek, but the manager couldn’t have been nicer or quicker (didn’t catch his name) but was all around a good experience. Hopefully others have a good experience as well

    Staff was patient and understanding. The renting process was smooth, staff did a good job explaining. Only thing is, the location is a bit hard to find, it is all the way to the right of the parking lot. Except for this, the renting process was great and the vehicle was clean and drove well. Would recommend.

    I would like to give a big thank you to Brett Maurice! Brett assisted me with my car rental and made sure everything seamless. He went above and beyond to ensure I was happy with my rental car. Brett was well knowledgeable and explained the entire process in detail to my understanding. If you’re ever looking to rent from Hertz at the Newport Mall location I highly suggest asking for Brett, your experience will be one to remember!

    Unfortunately, my experience with Hertz Car Rental at Jersey City - Newport Mall HLE was deeply unsatisfactory. After paying in advance for the car reservation and meticulously planning our trip, we were faced with numerous issues that made our experience extremely uncomfortable. Upon arrival at the store, we had to wait for an hour and a half to be attended, despite our pre-made and prepaid reservation. To make matters worse, the car model we had reserved and prepaid for was not available. The attendant offered other car models, yet without taking into account our prior choice and preference. The most serious issue, however, was the absence of a child car seat. Travelling with my 2.5-year-old son, the car seat is essential for his safety. Despite our insistence, the response from the staff was that they couldn't do anything about it. This put my family's safety at risk, in addition to the risk of a fine for driving without the appropriate equipment. Therefore, I cannot recommend this location for car rentals. It was a highly unpleasant experience characterized by slow service, lack of organization, and disregard for children's safety. It is unacceptable that a company of this size does not guarantee the safety and fulfillment of agreements made with its customers.

    I’ve been renting here almost every week for the last couple of years. I’ve always had a pleasant experience. The staff are friendly. I just had to be a little patient and got really nice cars and appreciate the flexibility at this location.

    I didn’t rent a car from them. Rather I was visiting the mall and parked my car in the paid parking garage for the mall. While in the mall, Hertz decided to park a row of rental cars directly behind a row of parked cars trapping those folks‘ cars in the garage. I had no idea why someone would park my car in let alone that it might be a Hertz rent a car. I blew my car horn until someone finally came. They were in no rush and were mad at me for making so much noise with the horn. They slowly left again and took an inordinate amount of time to come back with the keys again admonishing me for blowing the car horn and not coming to find the Hertz rental place to let them know I wanted to leave. Do better Hertz and Newport Mall.

    I had to rent a car here due to my car beI my in accident through my insurance. Every other company was giving me a hard time. I walked in there was 1 person in front of me & I was seen right away. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. They also didn’t give me a hard time when I needed to extend the deadline. Definitely recommend

    I don’t typically review car rental places and I’ve usually had good Hertz experiences but this is truly the most inefficient car rental place I have ever been to. We got our car an hour after we were supposed to, and I wish I was exaggerating. The paperwork took about 20 minutes (after we had to wait to go inside because the owner? manager? yelled at us to wait outside even though other people kept walking in and he didn’t say anything). Then, we waited 35 minutes for someone to bring us a car because none of the cars were actually ready, they had to be sanitized. We asked to have the car that would be ready the quickest and the employee said none were ready. We were standing in the lot with at least four other people who were also waiting 30-45+ minutes for someone to bring them a car. One employee brought a car out and then never told the woman next to us it was her car — 10 minutes later someone came over and shouted at her it was her car. When we eventually got a car it was clean and perfectly fine, but this place is not a great choice if you’d like to leave on time or even close to on time. Also, the pick up spot is located pretty deep in the lot and wasn’t super convenient to walk to from the Grove PATH.

    AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! I rented from this location for Labor Day weekend and without asking, they tacked on extra insurance that almost doubled the cost of the rental. On top of that, the cars are located in a parking garage. In order to get the car out of the parking garage you need a ticket. The employee at the Hertz location provided me a ticket that was supposed to let me leave the parking garage without having to pay for parking. When I fed the ticket into the machine it said I had to pay $13 for parking. There were a line of cars behind me so I paid the charge and assumed Hertz could refund me later. They do not pick up their phones. I contacted Hertz customer service and they were not able to get through to the location either. Hertz customer service was able to get the insurance charge refunded but said I would have to go directly to the location to get the parking refunded. They said I would get a call from a manager at the Newport Mall location to address the $13 parking charge but it has been over 2 weeks with no call from them. My attempts at calling send me to a voicemail box that is not set up to take messages. I am not sure if I incurred these extra charges because they are swindlers or just grossly incompetent but regardless, you would be better suited at literally any other rental car agency.

    This place sucks. I had a reservation to rent a Tesla and called earlier before I caught an Uber to pick up the car and they never answered the phone. I caught a Uber to get the car which cost $28 to get the car and show my reservation and they tell me they don't have a car for me. I walked through the parking lot and all I saw was Teslas. Poor customer service and organization. Never use them.

    Awesome experience at the Hertz location in Newport MAll. Manny helped me and he was Awesome!! My loaner for 3 weeks was way less then I expected. Manny was very Knowledgable, polite, respectful etc… I was in and out for pickup and drop!! In my tough times with car trouble Hertz Really helped me a lot!! Thank you Manny and Hertz Rental.!!! 💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    I have always had good experience with the staff. Recently it seems like they are juggling hard with the demand for rentals. Rushed outside cleaning and missed to dust the insides. I noticed it too late into the drive. But I got a reasonably new model and was a pleasant drive.

    Picked up an hour after opening time, service friendly😊, car filled up and vacuumed, you had to wait a bit until you looked at the car together. You will receive pictures of the damage by email to be on the safe side. Everything fine. Maybe we had the tourist bonus😉
