😠 I do not understand the hype. TERRIBLE customer service. I was not greeted when I entered (and I entered twice because I ended up coming back later in the day) nor was I asked what I was looking for. I didn’t see them greet anyone who came in after me, either. Not a single word, not even a hello or... Unfortunately there is not zero stars, Recently, I visited New Top Jewelry in Chinatown, NY, hoping to explore their collection. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. The owner, a lady, greeted me with an unexpected attitude. Before I could even inquire about specific items, she abruptly informed me that they didn't have anything I would be interested in. This presumption was not only unprofessional but also quite surprising. It's important for businesses, especially in retail, to welcome potential customers with openness and assistance, not preconceived notions. I was hoping for a browsing experience where I could see various options and make an informed choice, but this interaction left me feeling unwelcome and undervalued as a customer.

Super unfriendly and shes a rip off. Jane gets all this popularity for working with big people in the rap scene in nyc. Yes, her selection is nice but she charges for light 14k pieces as if they are 21k. Do not recommend at all. Not worth the hype.

DONT GO HERE IF YOU ARE BLACK or BROWN. They will ignore you. Unless you a celebrity then they see dollar signs and will pretend to care. The whole experience was dehumanizing but apart from them deliberately ignoring us and proceeding to attended to 5!!! other parties of all white people and one other Asian girl (the lady seemed to know) that all came after us, they also “shooed” (like you would a dog) my friend twice for a lack or better words when he processed to ask for help. Not to mention the rude looks from the women and her repeatedly riling her eyes when making contact. Maybe she’s just a b!!!!! after reading other reviews, that’s doesn’t seem to be the only thing. People like this are truly awful. It’s important to know Wes you are putting your money so glad I took the thousands I planned to spend elsewhere.

Rude and bad service. Feeling ignored and judged by staffs as an Asian?! They were busy helping white customers… not a word addressing the wait or anything. A staff told me not to take pictures but clearly there are walls full of pictures in the store with customers. I couldn’t help but wondering…

Bought a what i thought was a solid gold chain 1.5 years ago. Upfront cost and quality seemed great. Since then the chain has broke twice. Turns out the chain is “semi-solid.” They charged $10 to fix the first time. Second time i negotiated to get it free of charge, but the repair job was terrible. I recommend going elsewhere to purchase precious metals.

I wish I could give 0 stars…. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE. Disgustingly rude, racist owner. Online says they close at 6pm, I arrived at 4:45 and there was a couple waiting outside because the door was locked though there was only 1 customer inside the store. After 15 minutes, the current customers left and we proceeded to enter along with the couple. The lady literally screamed “close soon” so I asked if we had the opportunity to shop and she then yelled “close the door!”…. Ok no prob. We then waited another 15 minutes for our turn. The couple exited the store and said the owner asked them to let us know they were closed. The moment they stepped out the door, an older man came to lock the door, turn off the lights and placed a sign that said they closed at 5pm. (Pictured) At this point we waited over 30 minutes in the rain which was a complete waste of time that could have been avoided if the owner told us they were not accepting anymore customers from the rip or had the sign up. The photo is the sign that was placed AT closing which was 5:20pm. If you closed at 5, why let the couple in AFTER 5pm? It honestly feels like they are racist and discriminated against us due to our ethnicity.

i’d like to share my experience. I finally visited new top jewelry after watching videos from social media of how great a selection and how great the prices would be. When i arrived, the two women working at the desk didn’t acknowledge me for about 5 minutes as i waited for assistance. When i finally received help, i was asked “do you know that this is real jewelry”. i tried not to take offense to this as a black woman but i let it slide. When i asked to see a tray of their pendants, the lady behind the counter passed me the tray but then held on to it as if i was going to run out of the store. (which is locked 24/7 unless buzzed open by the store personnel). This turned me off and i no longer wanted to look at the pendants. When i asked to see a specific selection of necklaces, the lady then said “umm, all of these necklaces are $2000 and up” and looked at me with certainty as if i wouldn’t be able to afford it. I was looking to spend well over that amount but felt very uncomfortable spending with a bunch of racist. I purchased an overpriced ring for $180 and took my business elsewhere.

Went in and asked for my bracelet, which i purchased here at this store, to be polished. Jane took my bracelet and simply blew air into it and gave it back. No cleaning, no polish. I just took it back and didnt say anything but i was also there to look at necklaces. After asking for the price on a couple necklaces, jane looked at me and in a dismissive tone said “maybe next time”. I was stunned and dumbfounded and instead of emphasizing my interest of purchasing the chain i just walked out. I was once a loyal customer but now i will never come back!! Thanks Jane.

Been here 3 times. The first time, I got a chain and a charm for ~$150. Great quality. The second time I went in a year later, I had a bad customer service experience. Another group of girls in the store who overran the entire counter. Both workers said nothing to theme I would request something to be pulled down, and suddenly the girls swarmed what I wanted. Again, the staff stayed silent even when I went to defend myself. I felt like they slighted me because the other people were looking at more expensive pieces. Ended up buying a pair of earrings which I love still. I went in yesterday to yet another bad customer service experience. They didn’t say anything and were not helpful. Prices seemed to have gone up and seem way overpriced. I tried on a necklace that was clearly gold plated. It was tarnished and I told them that and they said they could clean it for me. Won’t be going back after the bad customer service experience and the prices

Visited twice and both times I felt unwelcomed. They are all about business, not about making you happy. I am Chinese, so they are point blank rude... period! They have a great selection, but the prices aren't that great. Found what I wanted on Canal street in a small shop, cheaper prices and with friendlier people.

I had a great experience at New Top. I got a custom piece made, they did a great job making my idea come true; plus I liked how professional and clean the place was. 🦜🦜 there are also two cute parakeets in the store.

I came here with high expectations due to the hype it receives from famous people and influencers. I have never been so disappointed in my life. My family and I walked in and Jane just stares and says nothing. She was so rude, wouldn’t answer our questions, and wasn’t willing to be helpful at all. She did not make us feel welcome. My family and I were ready to spend money here but jane does not deserve our money.

I’ve visited this establishment twice and received treatment that was visibly and noticeably less than white people in the store. That’s not a nice feeling and I will never go inside the jewelry store ever again.

This store has the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced, which I quickly learned in my 2 minutes here. My friends and I came in and the extremely rude owner automatically assumed we were not actual customers, probably because we are young. I asked the price of an item I was interested in, and she laughed and responded “if you want play jewelry, go to canal street”. We obviously would never give our business to someone so rude, so we immediately left. It’s her loss that her attitude prevented her from making sales to us, and I’m sure it’s the reason she loses many other customers, as well. It’s safe to say I will never be back and will inform everyone I know not to go here.

Visited during the summer from Boston, owner is not very friendly and made feel unwanted in the store. Was excited to see the hype but definitely service quality is determined by appearance, and look of wealth or status

So from the reviews honestly I was a bit concerned because I thought I wouldn’t be treated equally then the rest of the customers who people said felt like got better service because they look like they have money, first of all WRONG! My first visit was maybe three years ago and I really had no money I just wanted to see the prices of things and the lady who helped me treated me fairly and spent time with me and didn’t brush me off, I went back recently because I wanted to buy a name plate for my boyfriends birthday and as soon as I walked in even tho there were a lot of people the nice lady with highlights in her hair spotted me and asked if I needed help, she helped me was super nice and even tho it was still busy I felt like she spent a good enough time with me that I felt secure with my purchase, when I went to pick it up today it was even busier then the other two visits, we stood around for about five mins and then they spotted us asked if we were picking up and helped us right away even showed us more pieces and talked with us! They are great here and in my opinion the necklace came out amazing, was reasonably priced and my boyfriend loved it. Thank you! 💝

Do not believe the hype! She has such a terrible attitude! I asked for the weight in a pendant and she nipped back at me that it didn’t have it because it’s a custom piece (every gold has weight). It was an overall terrible experience and there’s better places to give your money to right around the corner in Canal st

Extremely rude. Did not want to help me. Seemed bothered when I asked a question or to see something. When I purchased the necklace instead of her wrapping it up she just told me to keep it on! I mean unless you like horrible customer service this is the place. 10/10 do not recommend.

They acted like I was the biggest inconvenience in the world because I asked to see different charms and asked prices, you know like a normal customer wanting to buy something would. Then when they gave me the prices they were insane, $110 for a charm the size of my pinky nail? The quality did not look good, not solid gold and probably plated. I didn’t buy anything because they were rude and way overpriced. Go elsewhere.

Jane has a terrible attitude and very unfriendly and not helpful at all. She gets great reviews from influencers so I believe she’s only nice to you if you have that status. I’ve been here a few times, even when I was a teen and she always just had a strange demeanor and very off-putting. Her prices aren’t the greatest either but I guess if you like the selection that’d be the one thing you’d come here for.

I had a great experience here BUT I can understand how others did not. I walked in about 5 PM in a Thursday and I wasn’t immediately greeted (which is fine) because there were other customers in the store being helped. Crime in NYC has gotten so bad I don’t blame business owners, ESP jewelry store owners, from not wanting to take their eyes off their product and customers. Once some of the customers left, I believe the owner Jane helped me and and she was so nice! I came in looking for an ankle bracelet and she had plenty of styles and lengths to choose from. She allowed me to try on as many different styles as I wanted and I didn’t sense any annoyance or feeling of being rushed from her. There was one other associate working behind the counter and a male associate in the back of the store, but he wasn’t working directly with customers. I would advise going at a time when it won’t be so busy (not the weekend) if you are looking for a little extra attention. The prices were very fair and I will definitely return for more pieces in the future.

I was super excited to visit here as I love Jamie Genevieve & know how much she loves this store. I wanted to buy a gold ring to remember my time in NYC. I was so disappointed with the experience, the second I walked in the store I was ignored by who I’m assuming is the woman called Jane. It took me a while to grab her attention to see a tray of rings out from the cabinet. When I asked to see another tray out, the tray already out is swiftly taken away and locked. The price is what really threw me, super overpriced and when she realises you can’t afford said price then she moves on to another customer meaning it takes a while to get her attention again. I decided there and then that I didn’t want to part with any money in this store as I felt it was not deserving & the ring would just remind me of a horrible customer experience.

First of all the staff is very friendly and helpful and Jane is not only kind but beautiful. My husband purchased his mother a gold rope bracelet for mother's day there and ordered 4 custom 14k gold nameplate bracelets for my daughter and her 3 cousin's she grew up the closest with. I would highly recommend New Top Jewelry and will definitely be returning in the future for any jewelry needs.

Rudest asian seller i ever met. Pretended like i want to steal something. Instead of helping, she made it seem like she want me to leave asap and rolled her eyes when i asked for trying a ring. Actually went with the intention to buy stuff but she made me feel so uncomfortable and unwanted that i left without buying anything.

Bought a 14k chain for myself and hoops for my wife. Staff was helpful, price was reasonable and the jewelry is quality. I don't know anything about jade and Jane gave me a good schooling on how to discern quality. There were two other guys in the store same time as me asking Jane to lower the 14k price because the quality was low. Immature tactic and makes you look like a hustler not a customer given the price she quoted me ($54/gram 14k, market that day was $32). The 1 star reviews on here seem unreasonable given my respectful, thorough experience

Bad customer service. Small selection. We were looking for a rope white gold chain. We asked to view a few posted on the wall and the receptionist wouldn’t take it off the wall and wouldn’t give us any helpful suggestions. There was no other customers in the store.

Do NOT come here. Incredibly rude owner running the store with terrible customer service skills. When I asked if I could try on a specific ring, the owner looked at me as if to say “wait your turn” as she was watching another couple try on different pieces. They too thought her reaction was weird so they politely told her to assist me as they were just looking. Then the owner ignored my friend when she asked if a ring was 14k gold. Terrible terrible terrible experience. Also their selection isn’t at all impressive

I do not understand the hype. TERRIBLE customer service. I was not greeted when I entered (and I entered twice because I ended up coming back later in the day) nor was I asked what I was looking for. I didn’t see them greet anyone who came in after me, either. Not a single word, not even a hello or a smile which was off-putting. Jane, the lady everyone seems to rave about, never spoke or even looked at me once. When I spoke with her assistant, it was extremely awkward and didn’t feel welcoming. She seemed uninterested in helping me. I heavily agree with the other reviews in that if they realize you’re not here to spend a ton of money, they’ll treat you dismissively. It’s also not first come first serve. I was waiting at least 15-20 minutes completely by myself, and they were DEFINITELY helping people that came in after me. In fact, I began to notice that they were helping everyone in the store EXCEPT for me. After a long while of waiting in silence I managed to ask the assistant if she could help me, and she said “let me finish helping that person first”, which is understandable, but then I clearly saw her helping another person who came in after me. I feel like they were serving people that looked like tourists (especially white people) because they seemed to be willing to spend more. In the end, this older man behind the counter in the far back of the store ended up helping me, but he took his sweet time picking up trash, reorganizing some stuff behind the counter, etc before finally making his way to me. Also, that man had been sitting behind the counter by himself at the back of the store the entire time—I actually thought he was only a repair man and not willing to do sales. Now I know he CAN do sales because he ended up doing mine, but then why was he sitting in the back of the store alone this whole time? I’m really trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but the disrespect was far too much. There’s also a few other things that didn’t make sense, like how they said $25 was the nonnegotiable price for a charm, but when I came back later in the day, they told me it was $20. It was a very, very small charm, so the price for what it was and the material it was made of was incredibly overpriced. It is not a cheap store. Also, their selection isn't particularly unique...the rings were unimpressive and overall it's literally just like any other jewelry store. By the way, I came back later in the day because the first time I went, they ignored me. I thought they were too busy, which is why I came back later, but seeing as they continued to ignore me when I returned, it is not an issue of being preoccupied, it is an issue of attitude, profiling, and poor customer service. I’m not the type of customer who demands princess treatment, so for me to be this disappointed is an entirely new low. I’ve never even written a review before but I feel the need to because of how bad it was. I was disrespected and would not come here again. I did not feel welcome at all and I do not at ALL understand what makes this place unique from the many other jewelry stores in Chinatown.

First time at Jane’s shop and I was blown away by her jewelry selection and fair prices (prices reflect the weight of the gold). New Top Jewelry offers ring resizing too! I bought this locket, 2 rings, and the zodiac coin necklace. Jane was very attentive as I expressed interest in these pieces. She even helped me find a chain that matched. Please note, Jane is only one person assisting everyone in the shop, so you must be patient and wait your turn (first come first serve). If that sits well with you, you’ll have a wonderful experience!

On our honeymoon , in NYC for one day on our way to Italy. My wife wanted to pick out some jewelry to remember our trip by. She mentioned she saw this place on TikTok and she had to go. Jane was great and had lots of patience. My wife got a ring resized twice and she cleaned my chain while we were waiting. Excellent customer service. We will definitely be back. Thank you Jane for making my wife happy.

I got taken care of after a while of waiting because it was busy but once they got to me, they gave pretty reasonable prices. They sell 14kt jewelry so workers have to keep an eye on everything. I left with two necklaces!
