The pediatric ER was not well-equipped to deal with a baby. They didn’t have the right size needle, they struggled (three times!) to put in a catheter, all the while the attending was in the room and didn’t bother to help until the third try, when my baby was in immense pain. The doctors were not friendly nor professional, they didn’t involve us in our daughter’s care, and at no point did we feel that we were in good hands. We then went to NYU where we had a stellar experience. Avoid this hospital.

My son was in the ER twice here. This is the worst of the worst hospital. My son had 3rd degree burns which this hospital misdiagnosed saying they were second degree. They discharged him to the street TWICE when he was screaming in pain and unable to walk. Burns on both feet and legs. Nobody helped him in a wheelchair. I had to hold him up with crutches and get him to an Uber. They were the most disorganized, rude, and unintelligent doctors I’ve ever spoken to. The resident doctor told me that burns don’t damage the nerves, which I knew was untrue. They were acting like they didn’t want to treat his pain. Saying they’re worried about addiction. I asked the resident what she would give herself if she had burns. They discharged him with 5 Percocet tablets. The next day he went to another hospital and was admitted to the ICU with 3rd degree burns, 103 fever and nerve damage! This hospital should be ashamed of themselves. Animals get treated better than the way my son was treated here. I can only imagine what would’ve happened if I didn’t get there for him to advocate. Even the social worker at hospital was arguing with the doctor right in front of us about them discharging him. On top of all of this they left an IV in his arm when they sent him away! Do not come here. It’s the most filthy hospital. The doctors are rude and the nurses just seem like they can’t keep up. It’s truly awful. They’ll be hearing from me again.

I gave birth to my son here in the month of November. They sent me a birth certificate a month later with the error that I gave birth to a girl! I went and handed it back to fix the error, they said we will send it by mail in a month without any problems. But unfortunately it's already June, there is still no birth certificate for my son!!! Terribly simple! I contacted them in February, for 3 months there has been no news! I called asking! They can't answer normally! It's just terrible and I regretted that I went to this hospital with contractions! When I was lying with contractions, one Asian nurse treated me rudely! I'm Asian myself! But why be so rude to the patient?! She didn't want to listen to me, she didn't want to do what I asked! She walked around with a dissatisfied face! And I was incorrectly initially given an epidural and I felt all the delights of contractions, so this was my first time! They, realizing that it still hurts me that I'm screaming, didn't even want to be interested in my condition! I asked them, you put an epidural on me why it hurts me more and more, they answered I don't know, maybe my body allegedly doesn't accept an epidural! Terribly simple! Another doctor came and told everyone that I needed to put an epidural on for the second time because I wouldn't last for a month with such pain! My heart ached from the pain! And no help!

Palliative care is nonexistent with nursing staff not educated nor willing to advance the patient's comfort care. They neither recognize the signs of distress.. nice new tower, though

I am having trouble breathing, a fever, a cough, and chest pain...they gave me Tylenol...like I don’t have a whole bottle of that at home. I’ve been waiting for 3hrs total. White Woman that came in after be have seen TWO different doctors because her rib hurts. No doctor has even spoken to me, checked my breathing NOTHING. I have been waiting for them to say something anything about my X-ray for 2 hours.

This is a horrible place. Just pray you don’t end up there. When my boyfriend arrived with an open bleeding wound on his head they only did something after 30 minutes. They cared more about his insurance than his life. People were treated like toys not like human. It was traumatizing to watch. They didn’t let me go inside with him but my boyfriend said that it was even worse to watch what was happening inside. Nurses were so rude rather than caring. Other patients who spoke Ukrainian and Russian had language barriers and no nurses were available on the floor to assist. Instead they were screaming at them for not understanding English.

I wish there was a zero star. I was in ER and the attending came in to me without introducing herself, started her “assessment”. Her assessment only consisted of touching my belly and telling me I am here because of” your belly is full of gases”, although i was complaining to her with a flank pain. She literally had no idea what she was saying… It’s good that I work in medical field myself and i can clearly diagnose myself but with proper tests. After I told her I am an NP, she changed her bi”’$& attitude and left. I asked for another attending. I had to remind them what tests to do and what diagnostics tools they can use to help me come up with dx.Isn’t ridiculous?! And they did exactly what i was telling them to do. I literally came to ER to “treat” myself. I hope i will never ever get to that hospital again. In addition to it, the area i was in was pretty dirty, and the restroom on that floor was broken and didn’t work, which caused a lot of inconvenience to patients.

Even with the renovations this hospital is horrible. Doctors are rude as well as nurses. Family member was there for a stroke and sat in emergency for 4 days until an attorney got involved and they finally moved the family member up to a room. There is 100% racism in this hospital. If you’re not Russian you’re ignored. If you’re black well you can forget it. You are treated like trash in the Atlantic Ocean. FORGOTTEN!!

Frustrating Experience at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health I am deeply disappointed by the level of care my grandfather received at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. As a 75-year-old man with several critical health conditions, including cholesterol issues, diabetes, prostate concerns, the need for blood thinners, and bladder medication, access to timely medication is vital for his well-being. Despite having insurance coverage that includes 100% coverage for his medications and being in-network with the pharmacy, my grandfather faced insurmountable obstacles in obtaining his prescriptions. For the past month, he has been unable to refill his medications, causing distress and exacerbating his health conditions. The lack of assistance and accountability from the welcome center/help desk, which is staffed by unhelpful individuals, only added to the frustration. Their service was abysmal, and they offered no meaningful support or solutions to address my grandfather's urgent medication needs. The pharmacy staff's explanation that their communication system with the insurance company was down is unacceptable. As a result of this negligence, my grandfather is now confined to bed, suffering needlessly, with no resolution in sight. It is appalling that the “welcome center” /healthcare facility entrusted with the well-being of its patients could fail so egregiously in providing essential medications. My family and I urge NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health to address this issue promptly and implement measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. Our loved ones deserve better care and support during their time of need.

My grandma went to the emergency room and it took them 48 hours to admit her into a room. It took the doctors over 24 hours to diagnose my grandma and provide me with information on what the issue is but not precise enough. One of the receptionist at the Emergency Room waiting area was extremely useless where she didn't want to help us get in touch with the doctor because it has been over 5 hours since we heard from the doctor and we asked nicely if she could help us get in touch with the doctor but she was completely useless, she wouldn't even lift a finger to call the doctor to see if they are available to speak with me. I won't mind if she called and the doctor is busy but she didn't even bother trying to help. The doctor that was in charge of my grandma wasn't professional at all, when I finally got the chance to speak to her over the phone she provided me with some information but not precise information so when the chance came for me to speak to her in person she spoke to me in an attitude when I asked if she can inform me again about my grandma's situation and she responded me with "I already told you over the phone." As one of her patient's family member I believe I have total right of asking the question more than once especially when it comes to any type of health concerns. You're here to help but at the same time I would appreciate it if you can provide us with your best effort. I didn't even want to give a rating honestly because it is wasting my time to do so but I want other people to know what poor service this hospital provides. I am never going to recommend this hospital to anyone. Lack of communication, bad staff attitudes, not efficient, slow. There is a reason when it is the emergency room where people work fast as possible to help patients but in this case this emergency room is worse than all the clinics I know of. The doctor is lucky I didn't put her name on the review.

It's not the worst, but it's not the best. I've went here multiple times and it was not so good. The ambulance ride is nice, they have a bed in case you have a really bad injury or something. The doctor on the ambulance asks you what is wrong and what you feel like. Once you get into the hospital it smells absolutely horrible. But, they treat patients very nice. It is a big and good hospital. Bathrooms are always being used by people and it takes hours just for someone to ask you about your health. I disliked it but doctors and nurses are nice.

This place is horrible. I do not wish for anyone to have to be sent to this gross place. I had a visit to the emergency room, and for 2hrs all that happened was 5 nurses repeatedly taking my blood pressure. When I explained to them that I may have a neurological issue, or possible concussion; they insisted that I was " on drugs" and just blatantly disrespected my presence. They laughed at me, they pointed, they shouted ( go drink water). The doctor told me I needed to get rest. I am in disbelief that they call this cinder block a hospital. If I could give them 0 stars that would be more than they deserve. The entire emergency room staff needs to be trained in patient care and general personal respect. Go to this place at your own risk. I assure you no one in this building is a competent care provider .

Recently had my daughter here via c section and the care I received was amazing. We were placed in a private room on my second day as there were no beds in the maternity ward at the time. My husband was able to stay with us for the entire stay and was brought a tray of food. The nurses that attended to us were all very nice, kind and caring. We appreciate all the amazing care we received on our stay.

The TV screen at emergency patients wait room is damaging eyes to maximum. The Enormous Hospital Violates the Health Rights of its Visitors for Hospitality Intake. 1/3/2023 Update: I spoke 7 times in a row with Hospital operator to be connected to Neurology in the morning. The operator does not have straight connection to, and gave/tried giving me a general number 7 times in row to call which had no option for Neurology. Hospital makes per day a fortune$ on visitors insurances, and have no responsibility and time left to fix the broken phone operator disinformation "first aid". No Wonder why Coney Island Hospital NY is one in the worst ranked on google, instead of having interest in quick connection with needed, otherwise why need Hospital phone operators?

I will start by saying the staff is great. They do try really hard but have barely anything to work with and they are super stressed here. If you can give your ambulance 500 bucks to go elsewhere…. DO IT!!!! You get fed more in bookings than you get here. Everybody is screaming for food in here. Im surprised half the patients don't starve to death. In ER… you are stuck with all the drunks and psycho’s… and it takes days to get admitted! DAYS!!!!!!!! D A Y S!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place has much potential but lacks basic resources and management. If do come here….. make sure you pack enough food and water for at least a week.

Hellscape on Earth. Doctors aren’t present. Was told by a nurse wait time for a CT can be 5-8 hours. Consulting attending clueless. Finally one competent doctor was able to discern why my elderly grandfather had abdominal pain and save a tedious admission. I will always be grateful for that person but it was by it was by chance he was there. One nurse told me that a patient had to wait 3 days in the ED to be admitted. Don’t think that’s an aspect you be sharing. Seems like a hospital violation at most or extremely poor insight into the operations of the their ED.

If you are an RN, stay as far as possible from this wretched place. Work environment is beyond toxic. They omit and don't disclose a lot of pertinent information related to your paychecks and PTO till you are either done yourself mentally/physically and emotionally or they throw you under the bus and terminate you. But when it comes to work requirements that you are responsible for as an RN, they don't hold anything back and go out of their way to ensure you are a good slave outperforming Gods on Olympus.

Do your self and your families a favor and stay faaaar away from this hospital . This hospital had a bad reputation for as long as it was opened and it looks like things haven’t changed. I honestly dont know where to start , theres a few doctors that are ok and that being very generous but when it comes to the staff and the nurses its like correctional officers replaced the real nurses and the real hospital staff . There isn’t a shred of humanity in them and the patients especially the older ones are treated like if the nurses have a personal grudge against them especially if the patients dont have family to come visit them on the regular and they all have each others back so there’s no help from a social worker, doctor or the so called patient relations people just stay away DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LEAVE A VULNERABLE FAMILY MEMBER IN THIS HOSPITAL CARE YOU WILL REGRET IT OR YOU WONT SEE THEM AGAIN PLEASE PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS REVIEW AND STAY AWAY!!!!

dont waste your time here pls. if you have any ( stomach, teeth, foot, arm , breast believe me i tried ) pain of your part of body or infection they just give you basically ibuprofen or amoxicillin and send you home and giving you appointments after 3 months ( which is earliest date) so you postponing your issue, increasing more. dental clinic is the worst. they get took $800 and messed up my teeth.thank you so much 🙏

So Yesterday, went to ER by myself. I was feeling horrible. I couldn't breathe I had unbelievable pain in my belly area. They took me in the room in 5 min. They checked me up pretty fast. They did for me x-rays scanning everything. Cat scan. Everything everything absolutely. And they told me I didn't have choice. And I had to do operation. And same day in few hours. I got operation I feel great I'm already home. They are amazing doctors and nurses. I don't know what this people is complaining about here in Google reviews. If I could give 10 stars I would give. They are extremely busy. They have so much people to take care. Thanks a lot to every person took care of me. U are amazing.

My mother was there for 5 days before she passed away. ER nurse was rather rude to me and sister telling us in an accusatory manner how come we didn't put DNR orders for my mother and then while we still didn't give them the order, it somehow appeared in their system that the patient is on DNR. The ICU unit was ok, staff was nice and compassionate. Patient advocate was not helpful and a little rude too, didn't seem like he was on the patient's or family's side

I had a couple of visits to ER to this hospital. Quality of care depends on the shift and people on the shift. I had suspected stroke and people who took care of me were very professional, nice and attentive.Really appreciate (you are awesome guys). However last visit other doctor that handled my case was very dismissive to put it lightly.Anyways it depends on the team and the shift.

Terrible place. After arriving (I arrived myself), I was not given any treatment for 2 whole days. The staff doesn't care about anything or anyone. Nobody wants to take responsibility for anything. They respond to any requests with something like “Yes, now” or “I’ll tell the doctor,” and disappear completely. If the question is serious, everyone says, “You need to talk to your doctor,” and when asked who my doctor is, they roll their eyes and try to run away. I spoke to the police - they don't care. He said that I need a lawyer. after that they gave me sleeping pills and then on the third day they began to treat me. Today I asked for a sleeping pill at 11:30 at night, now it’s 3:10 in the morning and I’ve already asked 7 times - I’m still waiting. While I'm here, my problems have only gotten worse.

ER is filled with medical resident students. They don't have enough experience treating many conditions. They are understaffed as well. In the ER, they asked me for a urine sample before evaluation, and then forgot to take it from me. A patient next to me had a doctor come to him and say that "Unfortunately we lost some of your blood work at the lab. We don't know what happened to it but they went down a shoot and traveled through the lab and got lost. They tried to look for it but couldn't find it." The poor old guy he just sat there smiling kindly trying to be polite and said he understood. I'm not sure if they ran another blood work on him but that's just too much blood for him to go through. Also before I got dismissed from the ER, the doctor who tended after me forgot to authorize one of the prescriptions he wrote for me. So the pharmacy could only dispense 3 out of 4 medications.

This place is absolutely dreadful. A family member of mine had an allergic reaction and had to go to the emergency room. Shockingly, it took them a staggering three days to get in touch with us. Whenever we attempted to call, no one bothered to answer the phone, and instead, they kept transferring us to different departments without any resolution. On the day of discharge, they didn't even bother scheduling any follow up appointments for the patient. They simply provided us with a contact number that, when dialed, once again led to a frustrating cycle of being transferred from one person to another. When I tried reaching out to the social worker, she outright refused to speak with me. To make matters worse, two days later, the patient experienced a resurgence of the swelling caused by the allergen, indicating a clear misdiagnosis. It is highly advisable to avoid this place at all costs.

Came here with a busted lip that was actively bleeding for the entire time I was here. Was told at hour 11 that I needed to be transferred to another hospital for oral surgery. Spent 14 hours in here, 3 of which just waiting to get initially checked on, without being given any antibiotics, without having the wound cleaned, and without having any sort of covering placed over the wound, causing it to get infected. That infection has left me scarred for life. I shouldn’t need to wait 14 hours to be transferred to a hospital capable of actually treating their patients, nor should a hospital completely ignore patients with open, bleeding wounds that will not stop bleeding without treatment. I don’t know what kind of reason they had to let my lip get infected, but that is medical malpractice at that point. Don’t come here if you value your time and health.

This is the worst ER. The building is new but it’s so dirty. Patients’ bathrooms are disgusting, there is no toilet paper and no towels. I came here with my mom. The nurses keep forgetting about her. Two different doctors came up with contradicting diagnosis. We spent more than 12 hours in this ER and could not get a bed.

Great staff and doctors, caring medical personnel. I am updating this review to elaborate on my original review. I owe my life to this excellent hospital. The doctors, nurses, and staff helped me through emergency surgery and a lengthy convalescence period. I have returned for follow-up appointments and tests. Under their care, I adopted a much healthier lifestyle, including eating right, giving up coffee, and exercising every day. I have full confidence they will help me through the next phase of my care with the same commitment to restoring and improving my health. Not only are they smart, professional, and compassionate, they obviously love what they do. Thank you, CIH, for my life, my second better, healthier life.

I’ve had such a horrible experience with the doctors at Coney Island. Dr. K Vasquez especially, this doctor is by far one of the rudest people I have ever spoke to. In communication with this person she was not only unhelpful but also made me feel as if I wasn’t being heard at all. I will be changing my primary doctors location specifically because of the experience I had with this Vasquez quack of a doctor. I do not recommend coming to this hospital if you have any pain/ serious issues/ care about yourself, you will be prescribed 200mg of ibuprofen and told to deal with it. STAY AWAY

I had gone here for my postpartum check up and never before had an issue until I had Dr. A Turkman. She is good at her job but she is very rude and very judgmental at a place she should not be. Obgyn office should be a safe place for women not to be judged, but she made me feel very uncomfortable. Would not recommend her unless you want to feel judged for your life decisions.

Pediatric Emergency- the nurses are something. The doctor screaming at nurse because she won’t follow order and give the dosing he wants for a patient. Yells at her to leave him alone. My discharge nurse tells me 101 is not a fever. That her computer doesn’t turn red so thats no indication of a fever. When I ask the doctor whats high enough for a fever. The nurses foot is in her mouth when he says 101 temp. Nurse that was blonde and russian with glasses stay in your lane. Your not a doctor to advise me medically. The only great thing tonight no wait time.

VERY LONG WAITING TIMES at the Coney Island Hospital Dental Clinic. Our friend didn't get in to see the dentist until more than 2 hours AFTER her scheduled 1PM appointment time. A young lady we met in the waiting room told us she still had not been called for her 10 AM appointment (she did eventually get called - well over 3 HOURS AFTER her scheduled appointment time). We already paid $1,300 for our friend's dental implant procedure (which is not covered by insurance) - although when she finally did get in to see the doctor, she was told to come back in two weeks. At this point, I can't help but wonder if we shouldn't try to get a refund of the payment and go elsewhere for the procedure.....

Must give this hospital lots of credit. The volume of patients it deals with I See that all the staff works well and efficiently. Everyone was very respectful and came with a fast response. Volunteers who worked there showed a lot of knowledge and respect. Speaking with the Person in charge of the volunteers Christina C; who was able to answer all my questions with knowledgeable answers I was very impressed. She was able to explain the duties of the staff and gave me a better understanding of how it all worked. She spoke very professionally and kind. Must give her and all the Hospital staff lots of credit, they are all hard working and kind.

They don't answer phones here. When they do and you ask to speak with the doctor they leave you on hold for over an hour instead of coming back and telling you he's with a patient, not in the building or can I have him call you. The nurses refuse to tell you anything even if you have medical proxy. Right now my brother has a huge knot at the base of his neck after neck surgery and after 7 days still cannot stand up. Been trying to find out information but nothing. If this is a teaching hospital then they are not doing such a good job.

My Grandmother passed out from a pulmonary embolism (learned this from the team at CI Hospital), I thought she was going to die. We called 911. First and foremost would like to thank the FDNY and ER(ED) staff that helped save my grandmother's life. Dr Gil was absolutely amazing and explained everything that was happening. The nurses that cared for my grandmother from 1/7 to 1/8 were amazing. The ICU nurses were amazing. Once my grandmother was degraded to a normal "bed" she had an amazing nurses aid, NURSE HOLDER. She made damn sure my grandmother was taken care of. My gripe would be with the lack of communication between levels of the hospital. ICU and Cardiology wanted to do a procedure , bu once my Grandmother was stabilized and out of the ICU the Attending Doctor told us she was we were not going to have the procedure which caused a lot of confusion because something was not updated on a chart. Thankfully everything was straightened out and my grandmothers blood clots were removed. Dr Muhammad was also a crucial part in explaining what was going on with my grandmothers procedure and was very thorough with talking everyone through what was going to happen. He is a "Fellow", and will make a great full fledged Cardiologist

The absolute WORST HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE EVER staff openly discussing patients lives Rude receptionist that act like a gate keeper Incompetent doctors! And staff that’s just interested in people watching I’m with my boyfriend English isn’t his first language and they were adamant on n separating us because it’s all about “making an appointment with finance” Money really is the route of all evil don’t bother with this hospital Greenpoint serves their community better so just head there at least the nurse won’t be worried about her hairdo or what she’s going to eat for lunch What a shame Coney Island!!!!!

This hospital needs to take better care of their patients. I have a friend ( not mentioning his name ) who’s law enforcement and many staff and doctors ignore his needs. Please help him! Do your job! Or I will put this hospital on blast or go through your higher ups! He’s a patient he needs your help and you all need to do your job to help him! He’s a human ( treat him and others there like humans ! )

I recently visited ER in Coney Island hospital because I tested positive for covid and needed treatment. The staff at the ER were helpful. They really took their time to explain my conditions as well as my treatment. I had a great visit, and would recommend this hospital. Special thanks to Nurse Maria , doctor Bascaro, and the ER staff. For their good care, and helpful attention

I want to give a big thank you to CNA Nanthiyattu-A from Tower 8E. One of the best nursing assistants! He is very caring, thorough, attentive, and friendly. Thank you again, I can really see you love what you do and for all your help after my surgery. As for the hospital, I didn’t have a bad experience, the nurses were professional and knowledgeable. The physical therapists were very helpful and understanding. The food was actually really good! And it was quite clean. I know this hospital has a bad reputation but I think it depends on the staff and I only had positive to say about who worked with me. Thank you everyone!

My Dad was transferred from his dialysis center to ED for severe stomach pain. Tried to call the ED Department for updates but they keep on hanging the phone. I called my Dad and spoke to nurse and she said I can go inside. When I get in the ED the front desk was very rude to me. Telling me that you're Dad was been here before and I don't think he is here. Like how did you know that my Dad is not there without looking on computer first. She was rude to think that she is violating code of ethics. If you accept hospital job you need a lot of patience dealing with the patients and and family member. If only I can complain her I will definitely do it! Some doctors are very accommodating and also nurses. But not all of them. Now I know why they ranked as the worst hospital here in NY.

They made us go back and forth while going home. They also really did not help me. They weren’t running as many test as they should while my lungs actually hurt. The doctor did not even check me at all. They didn’t check my ears my throat. They made me walk when I physically couldn’t. They barley ran any test. This is sad. They only did a chest x-ray on me cause my mom asked them too. I would rather go any other place but here their ridiculous

Although the treatment works the people working can be very rude. I was very polite and the spoke very rudely. The orthopedic department refused to see the MyChart although it has all the same information as the paperwork they gave me. They were very upset that I left the paperwork home and when I showed them the MyChart the refused to even look. Either it's dumb that they're not allowed to use MyChart or they're lazy and rude to the people who need them.

My mother was admitted to the hospital in April with pneumonia. Both lungs were drained of fluid and she appeared to improve. She subsequently progressed to needing a ventilator to breathe. I repeatedly asked that my mom be weaned from the ventilator with proper positioning in the bed, turning her every 2 hours and physical therapy. My requests were repeatedly ignored. I was told I should remind the nurses to turn her. I am not their supervisor and not present the entire day. My family was then pressured to perform a tracheotomy which is a dangerous procedure for an older person. 1 month later mom has passed away. Prior to her death we had a meeting with various staff who suggested that my mom be transferred to a facility in New Jersey. A doctor at the meeting had the audacity to say to me do you want your mother to stay here indefinite ly. No doctor I wanted my mother to be treated the proper way and receive the needed treatment that may have prevented her death. Thanks for the rude and patronizing attitude. Please stay far away from this hospital.

We were looking for because the woman cannot pronounce properly has a thick Russian accent but I am not surprised that they hired someone like her to be the director it's a Mini Russian land it looks like they only hire Russians on top of it she was a total snob and rushed us out of the room and didn't want to answer questions we have. Not to mention her office is filthy and gross not ever going back to coneyisand I will never put my poorsister in this hospital again

Was in the ER for appendicitis and the nurses and attending immediately got to work doing blood work, IVs and all the necessary actions. Nurse Jennifer in the pediatric ED and Nurse Sonya in the Recovery Room were absolutely amazing. Had to get surgery and the surgeons immediately came to the ED to talk about everything. Doctors Nicolas and Sacks were also great in the OR. Everything went great!

Currently my son is being treated as a outpatient in the dermatology department 3 times a week. Everyone is nice and knowledgeable. I'd give 5 stars but we were there only twice so far. Will change the review after treatment if 5 rating is more deserving (will take a few months of treatment). Any profession that deals with customers, knows how hard it is to keep /make people happy. I appreciate and don't take for granted the information , service and kindness we receive. Thank you!

This is the most horrendous hospital in all of New York. My 83 year old grandfather went in for stomach pains 2 days ago and was told he was only dehydrated and was discharged an hour after coming in. The next day he is in worse pain and goes to his doctor who tells him that he has a bacterial infection and he should never have been discharged. He is now doing worse than ever and if he passes because of this we are suing this " hospital" for everything they have. Absolutely disgusting.

The wait time in the emergency room is insane. People are just laying here in pain and no one helps. On this particular night 11/24. The staff was sitting around with a police office chilling and talking loudly for over an hour. Then a new cop, I guess they not friends, came and everyone stopped socializing and started working. Except now there were more patients. All the nurses running around like crazy chickens. But if they just helped the people who were already there instead of taking they would not have had such a crazy night. It’s like that all the time. The staff at the emergency room is not professional.

I took my daughter to the emergency room 1-18-2020 at from 6 pm to 9pm. My daughter is 9 years old and very open minded in from of my kids Here is my interaction with with the Russian doctor a tall lady. Are you from west Africa ? I say yes Does your daughter get HIV? I’m asking that because you are from west Africa and people from those regions does. I felt so humiliated. After all of that she told me that my daughter condion is a genetic condition. I told her if she could transfer us or give us a referral she say from emergency room it’s impossible Why don’t you take a blood sample if you get this suspicion, en plus she could see all of my daughter medical records because she told me the hospital we use to go are affiliated to them

Dentist clinic doesn't deserve a single star. Nurse and doctor are so rude. No single smile or nice words. They tell you what treatment you need without looking at your tooth and x Ray, But already told me they don't do it here. I didn't have insurance but was ready to pay full price , but nurse was more interested in why I don't have it. It's not her business. I don't ask her to pay. Never again. I thought it should be more professional in hospital but No. I was wrong.

Emergency room will only make you more sick. Sitting here for over 6hrs with a possibly fractured nose, face caked in blood and still waiting.only seen to have IV and blood drawn after a 3hr wait. When I entered the ER, visibly bleeding, they took my ID and was directed to sit in the waiting room. None of the medical staff saw the urgency to even offer tissue for the dripping blood. Other patients in the waiting room opted to help. God hell anyone who comes here for help.. 7hr mark and I finally make it to the x ray room which is empty (only after limping over to nurse station to inquire why in God's name is it taking so long).

These people don't deserve any stars, I called to ask to find a friend because of something that happened to them and i wanted to see if they were admitted here. The regular line I called the lady was very quick to try and dismiss me, then i called the emergency line and the lady didn't even want to take the name I was asking about, saying "were not gonna do this right now" and didn't even try to hear me out, then sounded annoyed that i I was trying to talk. I don't understand how you just hire people who have no actual interest in helping, it's disgusting, if they're not elegibke, don't hire them

DONT EVER come to this ER!!!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. First of all I waited an hour to get any type of pain medication and half the doctors didn’t even have their masks on. I went on a Friday and was in severe pain and throwing up. I went with severe abdominal pain and they took a sonogram, said I had inflammation in my gallbladder and told me to schedule an appointment with a surgeon and sent me home with pain meds. I didn’t last even 24 hours and my kids took me to New York Presbyterian hospital where they did a sonogram and a catscan and realized I had gangrenous cholecystitis and got my gallbladder removed that night. I’m in the hospital still with antibiotics for 24 hours for how bad the infection was. How irresponsible of Coney Island to not act on this right away. Shame on them!!!!

Very unhappy with my physical therapy experience there, I was put on a bicycle while my physical therapist played around on her wireless device, I was forgotten and had to go search for her...I had done 18 minutes more on the bike that was required..if thats all there is to it, I have a bike and could do this myself.....I had to go search for her and remind her that I was there........I knew more about physical therapy than they do apparently, I felt like nobody there wanted to do their job. I did not feel I was in the hands of professionals or even para-professionals. That's a bad feeling for a patient in a hospital.

The worst most deliberately negligent staff I've ever come across. I am referring to the ER. I don't know how the impatient is assuming you survive the ER to get admitted. I went to ER with perfuse bleeding. the doctor gave me a cup, requested a sample and never came back for 2 hours until I called for the head administrator. They did not give me a bed pan, stated they don't have any" Did not give me pads or chux or pullups, had me walk to filthy bathroom dripping blood all over for everyone else to step on. Can't get much worse. I think even a jail would take more pride in their job.

With all the negative reviews that have been posted on this page, many of the people in the New York City area are joining together to demand that action be taken by the City of New York to insure that Coney Island Hospital is wiped clean of all it's corruption. Those of us that are in agreement that Coney Island Hospital poses a serious danger to New York City residents, will be joining together to weigh our options. If the City of New York refuses to take action to right the wrongs that have gone unaddressed for so long at the hospital, then our class action attorneys will be intervening on our behalf.

With all the seriousness, the WORST medical facility in the nation. Very scary. Very annoying. Very unprofessional and very very VERY slow, no matter what you are there for, a paper cut or heart attack. They will sit you for hours and hours. And even when inside, it will take you HOURS of freezing bedtime to MAY BE find out a diagnoses. All they can provide during your waiting is some painkillers. Thanks folks, I can take Advil at home. A place where discrimination is evident, I took my daughter to the Emergency Room and the doctor who treated us was more concerned about asking on more than two occasions how many months we had entered the country, when I had repeatedly told her that she was born in this hospital, when at the reception we had even presented our state ID. Now I know that next time I have to bring the birth certificate... there were many things that made us feel discriminated against.

When people tell you this is the worst hospital, BELIEVE THEM. Went to the ED on Sunday night (closest hospital to my house) because of an ongoing migraine and elevated b/p. Waited for 2 hours to get a PA to see me, to get blood work, and urine culture done. I came in around 8pm and left around 2am. Not normal. The RN on duty literally injured my arm to get a line in (I have the biggest bruise from the IV line). No follow up to see if I’m comfortable or bedside manner and this is from someone that works at a hospital myself.

My grandma spent a few days here in the SICU in March due to a kidney infection that turned into sepsis and the nurses took such great care of her. Shoutout to nurse Steve, Kelly, and a few other great nurses whom I forgot their names in the surgical intensive care unit. Also, shoutout to the young nurse in the recovery unit. I believe her name was Ashley. She was very attentive. My grandma was discharged after 6 days in the SICU. And.. a huge shoutout to the great surgeons and residents in the urology department who caught the infection quick and made the decision to put my grandma into the SICU for better monitoring. I am very thankful to Coney Island Hospital! This hospital has improved SO MUCH throughout the years. Thank you so much for your great help.

And this damn century old docter is gonna roll her eyes at me to many times. Took me all of me not to drop kick her Russian old self. She passed retirement. They had to be short staffed because they dugged up her fossil and slapped a docter outfit on her

I am writing this from the ER. The one star is for the two wonderful Russian women at intake and the African American younger man & African American woman that were on shift this afternoon. As of right now we have been here for five hours - I had to scream and hold my fathers falling 300 pound body up while medical staff walked past me cluelessly. I verbalized multiple times that he is a fall risk, he suffered a fall right before being admitted AND he’s dizzy and disoriented. I did not feel safe leaving him here with the indifference of the staff. When I had to run out for a split second (my father has been attempting to get up this entire time, and continuously nearly falling over, clearly in need of restraints or some sort of attention). I asked the middle aged, African American woman that appears to be working the afternoon into evening shift in the ED department “can someone PLEASE make sure he doesn’t fall while I’m away?” Because at that point I was desperate enough to beg. She looked at me with the most dull expression in her face “what do you want me to do?” I want my father to receive medical attention. Me standing in the middle of the ER holding him up and trying to keep him in bed was ignored as the staff chose to prioritize charting and ignored me completely. This hospital is the absolute opposite of what the Hippocratic Oath stands for as there was NO REGARD for his well being. It is 10.25 pm and I have been begging for him to be on fluids or at least a water as he has not ingested even a sip of water or a bite of food in DAYS. Nothing. None. I will be escalating this. If it comes down to going to a hospital in a time sensitive emergency, I would much rather risk my life and travel further than ever attempt to solicit any form of medical attention from this joke of an establishment. I would also like to note the ED front desk. Customer service is non existent here, it truly felt like a twilight zone. What kind of receptionist says “that doesn’t mean nothing.” Who says that? How can you employ people with such poor emotional intelligence and customer service skills in a healthcare facility that is more often than not dealing with high tensions and tragic situations? Never again. A joke. No water, no attention, having to beg for attention while being stared at by everyone in the department made me feel inhumane. - Sincerely, a healthcare management student who is going into this field to PREVENT experiences like this.

First impression is lasting. Our first visit at the ER was very encouraging. No wait time. Dr's and nurses were very professional. They provided updates all along the way. I will recommend this hospital.

I had bad stomach cramps and they said my symptoms showed them that it’s something it wasn’t, which caused them to prescribe me the wrong pills for a diagnosis 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️. Not only was my stomach still in pain but I was taking pills that was prescribed for something completely different.

Worst place. We got here at 7am on Friday and are still waiting in the ER on Saturday at 7pm. They told us that our bed is ready about 10x over the last 2 days. They all don't know what they are doing here

I would like to express my gratitude to the Paramedics first and foremost for their patience and understanding with me. During my most weakened state they brought me to the Hospital and tended to my needs, I cannot say anything accept words of deep humane and sincere gratitude. however, once I was admitted with a terrible cluster Headache pain, along with a high blood pressure I was not given any care or treatment at all. I was asked repeated questions despite my inability to answer due to my state of pain, weakness. afterwards I was simply strolled away and left inhumanly alone in the company of my pain absent any medical treatment any nurse or doctor to even speak with me. After several hours of waiting my pain thankfully left me on its own I nobody walking past me even looked my way I simply got up from my bed and waltzed out of the hospital to go home. most attentive and memorable care I received. I wish everyone well and to stay healthy, however God forbid something should ail anyone avoid Coney Island Hospital.
