They killed my mother. And now they want to kill my father. So I got him discharged and he is doing fine. They kept him for 5 days without feeding him. They kept him in the emergency room for 3 days and night, while they had criminals in rooms. The nurses in the emergency room harassed him so much. Now he can’t even walk properly. The only words for this hospital is horrible horrible horrible. The ambulance is the only reason why my father ended up there. Don’t take your loved ones there.

Anywhere but here. This hospital needs a serious overhaul. I went here back in 2019, and not only do you have to wait HOURS to get admitted, but I shared a room with 12 other people that all had completely different problems. To make things worse, we were all being seen by ONE doctor. It makes no sense at all. I was in critical condition and needed more care than what I was getting. I waited in there for 10 HOURS and I finally discharged and went to Mount Sinai. Waste of time and money. When you're not feeling well, every minute counts. It doesn't matter how close this hospital is, your health comes first. Make sure you trust the right people with it.

The worst hospital in my life. The employees (nurse) are upset and not professional at all,the mask on the chin and not using hand sanitizer after finish each patient. I was there for 2 hours and juts 4 patients and no one called me and the floor personal was in a room drinking coffee and laughing… they should to have better employees

I have been going to Jamaica hospital for years, not because it’s good but because we don’t have a choice as it is the closest hospital to us. Throughout the years, the hospital has grown but it’s service has remained consistently abysmal. From rude and lazy staff to apathetic medical personnel to uncleanliness, there are few, if any, redeeming qualities. Take for instance their unreasonable and nonsensical visitation procedures. They allow only 2 people to see a patient a day. I obviously understand safeguarding against Covid, but don’t the mask and checking vaccine status do that? On top of that, there is poor interdepartmental communication. The front desk kept telling us that my parent was undergoing a procedure whereas the nursing station said she’d been out of procedure for some time and could have visitors. The front desk refused to call the nurses station to check, opting to repeat, “it shows she’s in procedure.” They finally relented when I put the nurse on speaker. If you have no choice, what’re you going to do?! But if you can, avoid this hospital.

Horrible care. I was waiting 10 hours without a bed just in a chair to get a ct scan. Nurse were so rude and I was literally lowering myself begging and being nice and they took advantage of that. I begged to lay down because I was having dizzy spells and was told no. I was there so long without water. Not only that I was there so long that the doctor and nurses shifted out shifts and I got a new set of nurses and doctor which was still worse. Whenever I tried to hail down a nurse bc my iv was done or blood was seeping into my iv they acted like they couldn’t hear me. The ct machine was down. If u look at all the 5 star reviews on here it mostly all from the maternity ward, not from the emergency room which everyone else has to deal with. This hospital needs to be shut down. I don’t care how bad I’m suffering I would rather take the long way to another hospital or deal with the consequences then going back to Jamaica hospital. It’s not like it was a one time issue, I’ve been going here for emergencies since I was 7 in pediatrics with my dad now I’m 22 and they still suck, come on that’s horrible.

If I could give this hospital a zero, I would. Their license should be pulled from practicing medicine. Patients are treated like experiments not even humans. Had a family member come in by ambulance not by choice they lost him no one knew where he was or who he was. No one knew what they were doing nursing not residents knew what they were doing. We were told that the family member was pretty much going to die that all they could do was monitor for the next 3 days. How can you tell someone this without the facts or trying? The emergency room was full of feces and urine, homeless man running around threatening patients while the security did nothing to solve the situation. You have patients that are in critical condition such as my family member and you have this shenanigans in the ED. You nursing team and residents, physician laughing at this. How can a hospital be such disarray how anyone practice and let this disorderly behavior allowed. Working in the health care field this absolutely petrified me I am scare for the poor souls that are unfortunately brought here to die. Leadership in this hospital needs to be aware of the horror that goes on in this hospital or butcher place. Revamp the moral of your employees have some standards and care for patients. You should be ashamed of yourself for holding a title you do not deserve. What type of butcher place are you running? How can you call this place a hospital? If you lost your passion for what needs to be a priority PATIENT CARE quit now just resign. Open your eyes and see the place you are allowing to run. You should be ashamed of yourself Residents: If this is a teaching hospital, the residents that are a part of the program need to be thought properly. Have a more strict remediation process for the love of humanity teach then the basics of inserting an A line. For goodness sake, learn the basics of patient care. Humans are not Ginny pigs they are not a mannequin for you to experiment or simply put an IV and decide on the fate of a patient and tell family members that there is nothing to do and don’t try. Do not make fun of patients and do not assume do your research of the best course of action to actually treat patients and become better. Is a shame that these residents will be the future physician I am baffled at how they practice. Horrible bedside Manner well nonexistent. Nursing team: wow what a joke. Rude , dismissive horrible bed side manners. Communication skills are non existent. Patient care, there is non. In the process of getting, my family member moved to a different hospital. The following disasters happen. IV was pulled off by mistake and the resident was trying to insert it and gave up said let the other hospital deal with it. The A line was kicked and yanked off the reaction was a laugh follow by a joke put a b line. My family member went in for a hemorrhage stroke it was not the best place for him. They inserted a VNS drain and once he was transferred, we found out that they placed it completely wrong. The catheter was wrong the intubation was wrong everything that they did was wrong. How can you practice how can you call this a hospital? As soon as he got to the other hospital, he went in for surgery and is expected to recover. They gave him a better chance they did not just leave him in there to die. You need to be better than this you need to do better. Your standards for patient care needs to change, your residence program needs to be re-evaluated and revamp. Your security team needs to do their job in protecting patients and staff; your attending physicians need to be reprimanded for their non-teaching techniques and for allowing these shenanigans under their watch. The standards of this place is so low that is a joke this is not what a hospital should look like this is not what a health care facility should be managed. You should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing all the atrocities and malpractice that goes on in this place. Patients are humans they are not mannequins they are not experiments.

My mom came from work and she just wasn’t feeling alright. She told me that she has bad chest pain so she left work early. My mom never had chest pain in her life. It’s hard for her to breathe or walk. So I quickly drove her to Jamaica Hospital. We came in at 10:30 PM with registering and taking the history by a nurse. I am currently still here and it’s 1:39 AM, still no doctors have seen her and still no check up. My mom is sitting next to me and she not feeling well at all. The chest pain is still there. Only if I knew it would take this long just for a look by the doctor. I would never drove here and rather would go to Long Island Jewish Hospital (LIJ). My experience her was not good and I recommend going to any other hospital for your guys own good. Don’t make the same mistake as I did.

Hi. This was probably the worst hospital experience of my life. And trust me, I’ve been to multiple hospitals. AND THIS TAKES THE STAND FOR THE WORST. The staff are so rude, the nurses act like there’s a stick stuck up them. They treat you worse if you’re a person of color or do not speak fluent English. They mistreat their patients once they are “recovered” so that they can be transferred out faster. Overall, I’d rather die than get treated here.

Hospital staff is friendly; however, the cleanliness needs work. I was scheduled for a pre-op covid test in suite b on July 12, 2021. The waiting area left a lot to be desired, which was a surprise to me, given the stringent cleaning protocols in place due to covid. **Update** I received a call from the office manager Ms. D****. She informed me that my concern was valid and that a team meeting was held in order to address the issue. I appreciate the prompt response to this matter. I updated my rating from two stars to four stars.

The weather is very cold today. My mother fell at home at 4:00 in the morning. She urgently called 911 and sent her to the nearby jamaica Hospital. After the doctor's diagnosis, she only had minor trauma. Her body had no fractures or cerebral hemorrhage. I can take her home, the doctor's attitude is very good and professional, but I am most unhappy about the treatment of discharge. They are very urgent, and they sent my mother out without even pulling out the needle. They found out that there is this I took her to the emergency room by mistake and ripped off her clothes, pulled out the needle, and pushed her jacket and vest without zipping it up. My mother was 90 years old and she was frail. It was very windy and cold today. She just fell and was dehydrated and her whole body was shaking. The nurse made all kinds of mistakes. I was waiting for a taxi outside the emergency room. I didn't notice that my mother's clothes were not properly dressed. I was very unhappy. Tell her why she hadn't put it back on after she took off her clothes, zipped her coat and vest back, and the wheelchair's pedals were not in place. I saw my mother's feet dangling in the air, and she actually told me I was helping You didn't thank me, you still blame me. This person is not qualified to do service work in the hospital, I strongly condemn her, I even hope that the hospital will not use this kind of person to work in the hospital again.

Disgusting treatment towards anyone who brings a patient to the ED. I was immediately shown the exit door and told to leave, as they do not have a designated ED waiting area. I was told I should outside if choose to stay, without even a bench to rest on, left to sit on the curb in the elements. I expressed my concern to a security guard who just handed me a business card with info where to send my complaints. Having a loved one readily available is vital for proper care, not only to ensure accuracy of medical history but also to provide emotional support at such a stressful time. This becomes especially concerning when the patients mental status is altered.

I gave birth here on September 30, 2019. First I would like to give 5 stars to the nurses and doctors specially nurse Deidre who went above and beyond to help me. My bad experience was when coming in, I was in horrible pain . I got there at 10pm and the baby was born at 10:35pm so that means I was very close to given birth and in a lots of pain. There was one of the nurse that wear pink that was extremely rude and inconsiderate. She kept talking ruse to me, I didn’t see her name since I was in so much pain. She made me walk when I was brought in a wheelchair from downstairs. My husband had to hold me by my arm and help me out. Meanwhile she was walking way ahead of us. She is a Spanish lady with short blonde hair. If I could give her a 0 I would. She shouldn’t be working there. I’m still traumatized every time I think about her and the 10 minutes I spent with her. There even was another nurse in pink that was basically telling her to do her job and take me to a room. I was literally crying and shaking. For the rest everyone else was extremely helpful and kind. The lady that brings the food was always so nice and happy.

If there is one thing I could say about Jamaica Hospital, they are quite experienced when it comes to emergency medical issues. My father was hospitalized for a hit and run accident, and also a stroke in 2020. The staff make sure that they look after you. They're only human. Kindness goes a long way. They're often overworking themselves. There's also a deeper cultural understanding because they are a diverse facility.I f anyone has an issue and are respectful when communicating any feedback, they'll be quite accommodating. I would like to see the faculty and staff get more raises because times are tough. It's hard to look after other people if you cannot make ends meet to sustain yourself. Especially during these times.

4 stars for the IMPROVEMENT of appointments schedule. Answering phone and returning calls. Politeness and professionalism of staff and nurses. WAITING TIME needs lots of work. Waiting 1+ hours to be seen by the Doctor after appointment time is unacceptable. Time of patient and caretaker should be respected.

Absolutely terrible level of professionalism. A family member was sent here from the airport she doesn’t speak English and not from this country and they will not allowed me to see her. She needs my help to interpret but they just don't care. I told the nurse that I would take her to a different hospital and I asked for a supervisor but the nurse in the front window send me to see security. What is this a prison??? It sure looks and feel like one. The security guard was very rude and said that I cannot see a supervisor and that the nurse was the only person I could talked 2. Feels like a hostage situation. Luckily Another security guard was kind and went to check on her but I’m still here unable to see her. even after an hour drive from Long Island she still not in a room. Absolutely would avoid this place.

My water broke at 24 weeks and I was hospitalized for 6 weeks. After I had an emergency C section at 29 weeks, my baby was admitted to the NICU for 2 and a half months. She was extremely underweight being born at 1lbs 13oz and very sick. All I can say is, thank God for the nurses, doctors, PAs, social workers, lactation specialists, art therapist, caterers, security guards, pastor and other staff at Jamaica Hospital that I forgot to mention! During one of the most difficult times of my life, they provided the BEST CARE and COMFORT for someone in my situation. I now have a beautiful healthy baby girl because of how hard they worked at this hospital. My C section scar is nearly invisible. And the after care the hospital provided made me less anxious with going home with such a tiny baby. I still receive calls checking in on my progress. Now, I am using their pediatric center for the continued care of my daughter. I have often heard of negative reviews about this hospital, but none of them reigned true for me. I would recommend anyone, not even extreme cases such as mine to use their hospital for the entirety of their pregnancy. The OBGYN inside of the hospital is not my personal favorite (mainly due to size and the wait time) but they have other medical centers outside of the hospital that provides faster service with the same level of care. The love and appreciation I have for the labor and delivery staff, I cannot begin to put into words. I just want to say thank you to everyone! You saved my daughters life and I am forever grateful.

Worst hospital ever located in NYC. We come here cause we have no choice because it’s a serious injury or a death situation and the ambulance brings us here. The employee at the front of ER have no self respect and the hospital entrance smells and has homeless people at the front. A patient has been here for 6 hours and no treatment has been done but the patient is screening of pain and no service is provided. We also hear that the mental patients are discharged with out the family members knowing they don’t contact the family members. And when we call they say the person has been discharged last night. We hear cases like that many and a lot. And the patient is lost afterwords. Front of my face a patient didn’t know English and couldn’t explain her pain and situation and they had her stand there for an hour they should’ve atleast gotten a translator. This is a really worst hospital and this needs to be taken care of by the managed officials. We all want treatment but instead we come out from the hospital not being well treated or waiting in pain on the chair. THIS NEED ACTION.

The best care team! Psych Unit #3!!! Wooo!!! They are hard working healers/professionals that healed me. Do not be afraid just because of their skin color. They are nice, but you also have to talk to them calmly and with respect. Thank you to all staff members! Do not be afraid to donate some clothings for the patients. Overall, i had a very good stay at the psych ward. Thank you again!

Here to leave an outstanding review for the care my baby and I received at Jamaica hospital in the month of August 2021. From check-in to check-out , we were treated with such amazing patience, care, and respect! The doctors, nurses, and everyone in between went above and beyond to make sure my baby and I were taken care of and had everything we needed to make this special time more comfortable and less terrifying. Since Jamaica Hospital is a Baby Friendly Hospital, there were lactation specialists on staff from early morning until 10 pm every night. This was especially helpful because breastfeeding is not easy, and these ladies made a painful situation bearable by showing me different latching techniques and best ways to hold the baby for maximum comfort for both of us. The facilities were spotless and welcoming, the staff was amazing. Not to mention my husband stayed with me the entire 3 days I was in their care, and they took care of him as well! Can’t wait to go back and deliver my next child at Jamaica Hospital! Great job everyone!!

If I could give it a zero or a negative I would . I came here few months back for chest tightness, I had to hang my OWN IV and the nurse told me to hang it when it’s her job. The nurse was talking to chase bank while doing my IV and I ended up with BOTH INFILTRATION AND PHLEBITIS of the left arm, my arm had swollen up like a balloon. It took me 5 hours to get my CT Scan . From admission to discharge, a total of 8 hours was spent . The doctor you see for literally 5 seconds .

wouldn’t really recommend coming here especially if you’re going to the emergency room. in my early pregnancy my hg was terrible I lost around 20 pounds. if you’re pregnant or postpartum would’ve recommended. you don’t even get your own bed. they don’t feed you either. you’ll end up staying at least 9-12 hours for nothing really. I was recently in l&d too as i am close to my due date. way better and caring staff up there just wasn’t feed at all which is crazy since I was 34 weeks and there for over 12 hours. i also had to ask multiple times for water.

I went to the dental medicine department for wisdom tooth extraction. Due to the complex positioning of my lower left wisdom tooth, I could not get my extraction done at a dental clinic. However, I was recommended to get that done at a hospital. I am glad that I got that referral and was able to receive the best treatment. The waiting was not that long, around 15 minutes after signing in. Everyone was kind to me. Dr. Schiff did an excellent job in the surgery and I feel so relieved now that the wisdom teeth on the left side are gone and can't wait to get the other two removed.

This is DEFINETELY the worst hospital in Queens. I tried to get the ambulance driver to go anywhere but here but because my mom (a 12 yer . Alzheimer's patient was not breathing properly I was advised to go to the closest hospital. Although I explained my mom was not cognitive and very disoriented I was told I could not stay until she got a room. I get that but each case should be view individually. After her release I was told my mom would be sent home at 12 p.m. and they ended up bringing her home at 11:00 p.m. at night. I called many times and the blame game started they blame transportation and when they finally arrived and I told them I was waiting 10.5 hors they said they were notified only 2 hrs ago and had another patient before her. Obviously there is zero quality control. When I went to the drugstore to get prescriptions filled the pharmacist said they did not write the dosage and the phone number printed on the paperwork was actually for a church. NEVER AGAIN!

Worst hospital ever, if I can give zero stars I will. My mother came in here mid December and the treatment she received was horrendous. Staff lacks professional and they seem to be in their own world. Sadly within 8 hrs of going there she passed. These people have no empathy or compassion for anyone. But I leave it in gods hands. Karma!

This is the worst hospital in Newyork city! Please stay away from this hospital. Me and my wife were treated like Animals and she was 9 months pregnant having labor pain. I brought my Aunt & Uncle to Jamaica Hospital MC for COVID Vaccinations in January and our experience was nothing short of outstanding. Although the hospital was busy we were in and out in about an hour. Everyone from administration to nursing staff were courteous, professional, and thorough in their care. I would highly recommend JHMC for anyone in need of world class health services.

3 stars because the ER doctor went to work but the waiting time is 6 hours just for the doctor to say oh nothing is wrong with you and talk to you for 2 mins, Those people are clearly doing that job for the money , it’s not because the care for the patients !!!! The RN’s were literally arguing in front of us because one of them didn’t want to take my 2 year old blood since her break was coming up. But the Asian Nurse actually did take it after a while , she was the only nice person there. The Management of that hospital needs to train their employees

Absolutely terrible level of professionalism. Brought my mom in via 911 because she was showing serious symptoms. She needed me to be around to help interpret but they separated us and stopped giving us any updates on her. When my mother requested an interpreter, they simply ignored her request. Even though she needed an X-ray, because they were preparing her discharge already, the nurse told the technician no point in doing an X-ray and they simply let her go, and she is still very sick. Absolutely would avoid this place.

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is the worst hospital. I had to go to ER in 2/23 for cat bite. From registration to sitting at ER room, it took me 5 hours. I received no care and after so many hours at horrible ER room, I got up and left. From the moment I got in, nobody looked at me. The rudeness of staff, from registration to ER doctor, is so deep. They just looked me like I am a cash sign. I got passed around from one person to another. Each time, I had to re-explain why I was there and nobody listened. They just looked at their paper work or the monitor. Then they sent me a bill for $258.27. I'd rather die in the inferno then go to this hellish place. The worst hospital.

Zero stars if it was possible. A family member of mine was in extreme dental pain so I did research and came across Jamaica hospital emergency dept where it stated on the website that they have an on call dental resident 24hrs for dental pain if the dental clinic was closed. 4am dental clinic is closed decided to bring him to ER for some relief until the morning. The Doctor didn’t even care to look at the tooth to see if it was infected and didn’t even treat him just told him go to the dentist. What a waste of time and still in extreme pain. Now have to wait until dental clinic is open.

All the staff was so helpful and supportive. The mergency room was extremly busy, but they managed to take good care of me. I was in so much distress, and the emergency staff stepped upto the plate. Thank you Jamaica Hospital!

Worst place ever, you might as well just die sitting in the emergency room. Sitting for 3 hours in pain with no one even offsetting attention to us.

I come here for my monthly injections, and the Doctors are all very caring. I highly recommend Dr. Shah and Dr. Troy for giving injections, as I do not feel anything when they give it to me (and trust me, it can get very painful!). Thank you for everything. Dr. Sen and the other Doctors under him are also very caring and knowledgeable. My physician is also very caring! The other people working at Jamaica Hospital and the other branches are kind, compassionate, and truly want the best for everyone despite the high volume of people. I am grateful that this hospital is near where I live. I used to go to North Well Health, and in all honestly I think Jamaica Hospital is the better choice.

Worst emergency hospital, no care patients. It was more like visiting dmv. People at the register were sleeping while talking to patient. Was waiting there for hours, family member had to wait outside. Do not go to the walking emergency. Go somewhere else or call ambulance.

If I could give zero stars I would, the lack of care and compassion in this hospital is disgusting. You have to be on top of the staff to do their job. They do not come regularly to check on the patients you have to tell them to come check. House keeping is trash. You have to request test and blood work because apparently they do not check unless you request it. You’re better off saving your time and going somewhere else.

the worst hospital in the emergency area. lasted almost 4 hours, and they were a disaster. first the asian lady passed an asian employee also ahead of all of us what we were in turn and waiting for. You can check the cameras and you'll know what I'm talking about. but, after waiting 4 hours, I give him a urine sample, they do an electrocardiogram (because I went for pain in my left arm and chest) and I see the doctor at the front, who by the way is good and kind as well as his assistant . But anyway, when my supposed turn comes and I enter the cardiac area, the person in charge of that area asks me, why am I in the hospital? What, what do I need and what happens to me? really?!! and after 4 hours?? and when I asked her how long I was going to last in the hospital, since I saw, that she didn't know or maybe she did it meanly with the Asian woman who works up front, since the lady is very pedantic. But anyway, the woman in charge of the cardiac area responded with an attitude that I had never seen in my life and told me that I was not going to make her nervous. the health department should investigate who they license. because a simple question that I asked, did not deserve this woman to tell me that. They definitely need to change the staff in certain areas. If not, that hospital in the next survey of the best hospitals will be number 500.

The absolute worst hospital in New York City! I came in around 4PM. 6 weeks pregnant and experiencing bleeding. Front desk registration was fairly quick. My wait time was about 20/25 mins. I was then sent back to GYN. The registration nurse kept stopping in between registration questions to laugh it up with his coworkers. I became frustrated and mentioned that I was 6 weeks pregnant and bleeding and nobody was moving with a sense of urgency. Within 2 mins, I was sent to a room to change into my gown where a PA came in to check on me and draw blood. Around 6:45PM I was taken up for a sonogram. Began my sonogram roughly around 6:58PM, the sono tech didn’t say a word to me for 20 mins as she examined me which made my anxiety worse. By 7:28PM my sonogram was done and I was rolled back to the waiting area. Because I was the last sono patient before the night shift transition, the sono tech never sent over my images. i waited in the waiting room until 10:30PM with no results! I told the night shift PA that I just wanted my IV off and to go home. I had to keep reminding him to please call image works to see if my images were sent over. He then told me that the “mycharts” app sometimes gets results quicker than doctors do. At that point I told him I wanted to go home. I signed my discharge papers and created an account for “mycharts” — my results didn’t come in until 1AM! Literally the most careless and unprofessional medical center! Not to mention, the facility is disgusting with no upkeep. The bathrooms had multiple bloody pads on the floor — DRY bloody pads which means it had been sitting there for a while. One of the bathrooms in the trauma center didn’t even have paper towels to dry my hands with. Still confused how this hospital continues to get low ratings but somehow is still open?

My aunt had hip replacement surgery here. Her nurses barely tended to her, sat her food so far away she couldn't reach it! She didn't eat for like 4 days because of this. Lack of concern for their patients! But God !! He stepped in an moved her to a better, healthier environment.

I recently lost someone very close to me when an unfortunate illness befell upon them. Coming from India, I had set notions of how the US offered better care, better facilities, better medicine, better doctors. And I wish I wasn’t so air headed. I know this may sound ill worded, but what was unfair was losing someone I had grown up with despite being surrounded by a specialist team of some 11 doctors that couldn’t control an infection. It’s impossible to gauge the fear that the patient may have felt when she didn’t speak the language, wasn’t explained what treatment she was being offered, wouldn’t let a relative stay with her at all times. I just wished they cared more. Less about the technicalities and more about the patient. Patients deserve care. They deserve to understand and to be understood.

My wife gave birth here 2 weeks ago and had a terrible experience. She had COVID and so we were quarantined for the duration of the stay. I don’t know if this is the reason why, but the care she and our son got as a result was terrible and at times borderline negligent. Some things that went wrong: - At triage the nurse dropped the syringe bottle attachment which left my wife bleeding everywhere while she waited for me to find a clean replacement (and was impatient that I couldn’t quickly find one) - Despite knowing my wife couldn’t get an epidural until her blood was tested, the nurse took 30 minutes to clean the blood she spilled rather than send the samples for testing. - My wife requested an epidural around 3:30 am and it wasn’t administered until almost 8 am - After giving birth, we didn’t receive our bill of rights and post-partum care guide with information that we were supposed to have received during admission and reviewed over the course of our stay. We didn’t even know this was something we were supposed to get until we were having a conversation with a lactation consultant who asked if we had some of the info that was in it. This was a few hours before discharge on day 4 at that point. - We didn’t receive forms for our sons birth certificate and SSN application until after someone contacted us to ask why we hadn’t filled them out yet and we responded that we never received them. - Some (not all) nurses and caretakers gave diminished care in order to avoid having to get dressed for COVID protocols. They had me come to the door and act as a liaison many times carrying medicine, food, or taking and giving care instructions. This was even when my hands were full with caring for our son. - They left my wife’s food in the hall many times without letting us know it was there, so when she did get it, it was cold. - At one point her pain management meds were skipped and we requested them when we noticed, but by then her pain had already built. - Her request to check her incision due to pain and bleeding was ignored and her complaints were disregarded. - At discharge our discharge nurse said we couldn’t leave until we watched videos we had just learned about from the packet mentioned earlier. Then she talked down to us for not watching them while also being upset that we couldn’t listen to her give additional aftercare instructions at the same time. - At discharge we were asked if my wife was okay walking out instead of getting a wheelchair. I had to say no and request a wheelchair. The only positive was that not every nurse was terrible. We had a nighttime nurse (I think her name was Rayna) who was amazing. Ms. Smith was a stellar daytime nurse the day we had her. And Paula and Nicole the lactation specialist were so kind and helpful as well.

I will never recommend this hospital to anyone that I care about. This past weekend my grandmother had a terrible fall and was taken to Jamaica Hospital Emergency room which turned out to be a total nightmare. 1. She complained of a older nurse on her team who kept requesting money from her. 2. When asking for water, no one wanted to assist her. 3. She overheard the conversations between the nurses discussing and making fun of her. 4. My 80 year grandmother was diagnosed with a Lumbar Spinal Fracture, when my aunt went to discharge her - she was told the last dose of medications given was at 5am (it was now 3pm).

HORRIBLE service. My grandfather was taken there for a minor emergency and I waited for 10 HOURS and nobody knew anything about him. I was not able to speak with any doctor and no one told me what was happening. The next day I was not allowed to see him and the same thing happened. If he died I would have probably know days after it happened. Thanks God that I had a friend who worked there and he could see my grandfather.

The worst hospital I have seen in the United States. Wonder whether doctors actually have their license. Horrible organization, terrible logistics. Had to WAIT FOR DAYS ONLY TO GET THE STATUS of my grandpa, who is hospitalized. No doctors call you, nobody takes the phone, they don’t let you in. Nothing. It is just gruesome.

I have called this hospital for the last 3 days trying to get updates on a family member who was admitted there. Out of the more than a dozen calls only 2 were handled by professional and competent staff members . Yes we’re in a pandemic and this hospital is very very busy but SOME of the staff that work there shouldn’t be dealing with the public .

Over the weekend my dad was in Jamaica hospital for chest pains. I went to visit him yesterday at 6:30pm-8pm and asked the nurse to page his doctor Gladimar Gonzalez Ramos. She paged Ms. Ramos over 4 times just for my dad and multiple times for other patients with no response. As his daughter I wanted to speak directly to his doctor to get an update on what's going on with his heart. I even left my information for her to contact me and nothing. This is so unprofessional the only reason we went to this hospital because it's convenient and close by when there is an emergency. It really shows that she doesn't care about her patients and is only there for a check. She's very inconsiderate and it's disgusting because this is someone's family members life your dealing with. If I ever do bring my father back to this hospital I don't want this woman to be his doctor or even close to him or it's going to be major problem. In the past I have dealt with different doctors who found time in their busy schedule to communicate with their patients and families not this woman. I advice anyone who's loved ones are in Jamaica hospital request another doctor because this one will leave your loved ones to die!

My experience at Jamaica Hospital haven’t been great. But Dr.Michael Gartenhaus ‘Podiatrist’ is the best a blessing a super hero he went above and beyond for me. Wish I can give him 100 stars on here he definitely deserves it. He truly help me in a miraculous way. Though I’m not diabetic he still helped me he called my insurance and let them know I needed the surgery I had a needle stuck in my foot. He checked up on me up until my surgery and after my surgery. If you reading this and need a Podiatrist give Dr Gartenhaus a chance to care for you, You will not be disappointed. I truly appreciate him more than words can say. I can’t forget his Team they were awesome super awesome.

Every expectant mother wants to feel secure and cared for while giving birth, and I must say that at Jamaica Hospital, I had that experience. A wonderful and amazing young woman named Marcy gave me a tour of the Labor, Delivery, and Recovery Unit and explained everything to me. She even assisted me in getting to another appointment that was in the same building, and I greatly appreciated her help. I was admitted for a scheduled C-section and received the utmost care. I was kept up to date on everything, and all the physicians who would be treating me introduced themselves and went over everything with me. When it was time to enter the ER, my nurse accompanied me. My doctor was very supportive to me. After everything was over, I was transferred to the recovery units where my nurse stayed with me till I recovered. I had my mother with me at the time, and hearing my twin's cry was a really happy moment. I truly appreciated Marcy checking on me, and I want to express my gratitude to the Labor, Delivery, and Recovery Unit for a successful delivery.

I gave birth in August unexpectedly. And can i tell you this from the moment i walked in the customer service was great! I had my baby pre mature the doctors and nurses did a excellent job for caring for both of us. All my questions was answered no information was left untold to me,from start to finished it was a great stay and couple of months well of visits to the NICU daily. To my NICU nurses i won't remember everyone's name but just to name a few nurse Jennifer, Tarrah, Anna, Jerry, Paula, Vickie and the list goes on. And to my doctor's Dr A. Jain and the many others who really took care of my baby.. I just want to say thanks alot we do appreciate the great work that you are doing keep doing what you all love and the Lord will continue to bless you. I certainly cannot leave out my doctor Maria kon and the others who took care of me on ward.. the nurses did a excellent job big up to nurse Sharon. Save the best for last.. smile my lactation nurses they certainly motivate me to keep up my pumping and helped me so many times when I needed assistance with my breast clogged. Five star to Nicky and Paula and others thank you much I do love and appreciate you all. The cleaning staff and securities thanks for the tips and small talks great words of motivation to never give up on my baby fighting in the NICU.. I am recommending Jamaica hospital medical center to any mother who is looking a place of comfort for giving birth. God bless them

Dream Team at Jamaica Hospital. First time mom at 40. Allow me.to share my experience prenatal care, labour and delivery and aftercare at Jamaica Hospital. I am a first time , older mom and for reasons beyond my control family members and relatives were not able to be with me through this process so I was alone which could be very intimidating. However the dream Team as I have dubbed them , at this hospital made me have an experience that was better than I could have hoped for and they are true gems of people. Allow me to call them out. Ms Rosa Rosaio,Centering pregnancy coordinator who assisted with prenatal classes , breastfeeding workshops and a list of useful resources that I didn't even know existed. Every visit she would greet me with a warm smile and always available if I needed any assistance. My assigned OB/GYN Dr Nicole Manhac, through with providing answers to my numerous questions which offered some much needed reassurance. While there is a virtual tour video on the website , I still wanted to see the space in person where i would deliver. I was fortunate to have the courteous and kind Marcy Garcia -OB/GYN coordinator take time to give me an in person tour. Thank-you Marcy. During my 26 plus hours of labour and subsequent delivery the following people took care of me not just medically but treated me like family: Dr Machac and Dr Chan midwives Jeanette Fierro, Marsha Fils-Aime, nurses Rachel, Nailah and Slyvelana thank you for bringing my son into the world. Our post care team at 2 north who tended to us and met our every need and special mention to nurse Melissa and Pca Zahira Sohan gentleness, kindness and patient nature to deal with both my son and I discomfort was priceless. Finally most importantly Ario Sutton lactaion coordinator along with Nicole B gave guidance on breastfeeding, resources and helped Me with starting and continuing to breastfeed. Special shout out to Stephanie Rodriguez thank you for process all our paperwork. TRUST me if you encounter and interact with any of these individuals your experience would be no less than amazing they are the real MVP's.Thank you to the awesome staff at Jamaica hospital.

This is definitely the worst hospital in the tri-state! I was brought here to the ER after being attacked by a Pitbull and head trauma. OMG to say the facility is old and dirty is a understatement. What really shocked me was how many people on a stretcher were packed into a small ER! Every emergency room in the United States has curtains separating each patient but there were several rows of stretchers one in front of the other all the way up to the nurse station!! There were well over 50 people surrounding the nurse station! Everybody's sick and coughing. The staff all have masks on but none of the patients did. I asked for a mask but after 5 minutes, I was so disgusted and had to leave. I felt like I was in the Twilight zone and the staff was rude and condescending. Maybe it's the patients this hospital has but I never been to a facility that talks to their patients in such a manner. I am a medical employee at a different hospital so I know this is not how any medical facility should run. If there's any major emergency I would never recommend Jamaica hospital. There is Northwell LIJ and Saint Francis which is far better than this dump!!

My mom has been in the hospital for 2 weeks and from the day she entered I was very uncomfortable about her health. Everyday I enter the hospital I’m faced with different staff members. But one member stands out most.. The person that has made me feel a sign of relief since the first day was this young man named RN Mr. JEFFERY INNOCENT!!!! He have gone beyond the simple run down and actually took his time and answered and explained the questions I asked to ensure what ever doubts, thoughts or assumptions I carried about my moms health.. I think he is one of the greatest assets to this hospital.. The patient in the bed next to my mom totally agreed with what I said about this young man!!!! We need more RN’s like him in this world. Especially due to the fear the family members are feeling with hospitals with this Covid 19 going on. Nurses like him is desperately NEEDED Thanks so much Jefferey Innocent keep up the GREAT WORK YOU DOING..

I went here to receive my Covid-19 vaccination. From start to finish everything was organized and efficient. I was able to make an appointment over the phone with no issues. Upon arrival to my appointment and seeing the high volume of people getting the vaccine I mentally prepared for a long process. Fortunately, this was not the case and I was in and out quickly. The vaccine center was well managed and effectively set up. Friendly and professional staff can be found everywhere answering questions and guiding you through the process. Well run, smooth operation and highly recommended !

Three request (1-3p) were made to have my love ones needs met. Each time they were going to send someone to resolve the issue. I ended my visit at 3p and at 3:45p I got a call from my love one that the CNA came to get the issue resolved. Two and a half hours is unacceptable.

We were scheduled for an induction , the admission team was prompt and efficient. We felt welcome, comfortable and safe. The surrounding was clean and the staff were very friendly and organized. Some of the team members went above and beyond and we appreciate this. Nurse Racheal O , was above and beyond, she was a tremendous help and very supportive. She is a very positive and very helpful individual. She cared for my baby and myself including my husband very well. She is an exceptional individual. Fils- Aime Marsha CM - explained and answered all our questions regarding the Cook Balloon Placement. Both Fils- Aime Marsha CM and Nurse Racheal O made this a very comfortable procedure for me. Nurse Melissa - was very kind and understanding . She listens and understands my needs during that trial time. Amalia Gonzalez , D.O - was very encouraging during the delivery. Awesome coaching throughout the entire birthing process. She has a lot of patiences and understanding. Very positive individual. Her explanation is very detailed. Nurse Mendy- Amazing Nurse , very helpful and encouraging. She was present for the delivery. Made us feel very safe. She is such a positive person nurse Jagayshree- humble and kind individual , she made our discharge so easy. She was above and beyond. She was able to answer all our questions . She is an amazing person We will like to thank you very much for all the hard work and great services

Nurse Sheena James From Labor and Delivery was so kind and understanding. She was very detailed in the way she delivers information and instructions. All the staffs and doctors from L&D were very nice and helpful. The care delivered there at that time we stayed was beyond our expectations. Many thanks!!!

I was a patient of Dr. Gopal Sukhraj I just want to make it know how amazing of a person he is. He took the time to answer all my questions clearly and professionally he has the most amazing team. Thank you and I’m grateful and very lucky to have you take care of me. Thank you Dr. Payam Hakimian for making me feel comfortable on my way to surgery when I thought it was the end of the world. You did a great job and I’m glad you are in this profession.

What a bad dirty place. Floors dirty!! Looks like never sweeped or mopped. The guards at the main entrance looked like they shower only on Christmas. Red eyes, annoyed and obviously HIGH! And the rest room for the public is unavailable because they just mopped the floor! The mopped the floor and it's wet and hazardous to use for 1 hour 20 mins. Really really bad place. I think it's better to die then get cured at this dirty hospital.

DO NOT come here. My grandmother came here for stomach pain- they sedated her, did something to her internally because she never woke up. She died shortly after. I came here because I was hemorrhaging from a miscarriage. They put me on a bed NEXT to a person with fleas. There were cops who visited a criminal on the next side. Then some lady was screaming for a while too, another one was coughing nonstop. No one saw me until 12 hours later. I could have bled out and died. The nurse who was with me told me "you're not the only one here". Then when I was finally admitted for surgery they put that anesthesia thing over your mouth: I remember saying I cant breathe. The doctors just shoved it forcefully on me until I fell asleep. DO NOT come here.

Staff on the 3rd floor are amazing!!! I hope the hospital gets more funding, which would allow for everyone to get a raise $$$, to hire more ER staff, and for the building to get renovated. They definitely deserve it!!!

Father had a fish bone stuck in his throat, went to Jamaica hospital thinking it would be resolved. Waited 7 HOURS to tell him there was no bone in his throat despite x rays. He kept insisting it was there because he felt it when diving in with his hand and the feeling. They denied him and assured him it was nothing. Went to LIJ Northwell the next day because the pain was worsening, and in less than 3 hours, they detected it and were already in the process of removing it.. now thats a real medical staff. He is good now, but it’s a shame that we’d rather drive 30 minutes than go to the local hospital that is 5 minutes from us. They don’t care about your health here, they just want you to leave asap and be done with their shift. 👎🏽 (not the first time we had to go to another hospital because of distrust with this one)

If you are a woman, don't come here. Ever. You've been warned. I'm a woman with a documented history of nocturnal seizures. Couldn't get more than an hour or two of sleep in 4 days. So obviously, I'm going to be concerned about all of a sudden getting no sleep... they almost admitted me to the psyche ward...... 🤦‍♀️ Luckily, doc realized it wasn't "all in my head" and discharged me at the door. I almost lost my freedom because I cared about my health and wellbeing. In 2024. A woman can't even go to a hospital without almost getting stuck in the mental ward.

This place has the audacity to charge me over 1000 dollars for what? For being verbally abused and screamed at while being offered NO actual medical attention. No tests, no fluids, nothing. I passed out and was brought to this hospital, they put me in a bed that they left in the hallway, and woke me up every few hours to scream at me, make fun of me, and harass me for “being a drug addict” which I’m not. However, if I was a struggling addict, that’s how these medical “ professionals “ treat addicts? That’s scary. They also yelled at my family and refused to give my mother any update on my well being other than telling her “she’s not dead” before hanging up on her. DONT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. They have no humanity and could care less for the patients. Evil people.
