My wife and I brought our son for his super swollen eyes after he was seen by his regular doctor. The nurses and doctors are super nice and comprehensive. The reason why I am rating this place a 3 star ( more like 2 and a half if I could) its because I've seen how most (not all) of the front desk staff and security at the E.R are just way too rude. If this is not your dream job than give others an opportunity. Simply leave and find something else! People come here for their young ones to feel better. There's no reason for you guys ( front desk and securities) to be giving parents a hard time after hours of waiting! It seems like no one knows the rules and you guys keep telling the parents misleading info. Please form a group meeting and fix this because you guys are here because of us, not the other way around. Thank you to all the other staff that truly care and understand why this Children's Hospital was built.

This hospital is amazing! My sister 18 year old sister started having seizures out of no where. She was in 2 hospitals before she came here. When she came here she was already facing several issues. The medical team and staff, where extremely kind and caring. We only had an issue with one of her doctors, but I won't allow him to mess up my review. They were very considerate for the family of the patients. The same night she was released they had a prom at the hospital for the children that missed prom. The group "Glam 4 Good", provided everything from the hair styles down to the feet. I was impressed. "Keep up the great work".

My 3 year old son was admitted through wakefield ED to 8th floor at CHAM last week. Majority of the staff on 8th floor are awesome, kind, thoughtful, attentive and willing. All disciplines did their part. One draw back is that the staff need to hand wash or sanitize upon entry and exit, use clean gloves to touch patient, ensure the lines or anything that will be used on the patient does not touch the floor, and all items should be cleaned. (Infection control). There is room for improvement, and Thanks anyways!!

My son recently had to stay for 5 days at CHAM in the cardiac unit and overall we had a great experience. The communication was clear between specialists, nurses and medical students. We did come in through ER and the one thing I will say as I read these reviews is that if you are waiting for long periods of times it means your child is stable and be lucky your child isn't rushed in because it means your child's life is considered critical. Wait times are not based on who came first its in order of the severity of the childs health. I appreciate the entire team on the 8th floor where he was hospitalized, not every nurse was friendly, that is true but the majority of nurses were extremely kind and all the doctors were patient and answered all my questions. I would 100% come back and just want to say thank you again to the team that helped my son.

This place is a disgrace for Bronx residents. From nurses smoking in the Emergency room entrance to 0 accountability or sense of urgency: this place needs to be investigated by the NYC Department of Investigation. Nurses are texting, talking on the iPhones, doctors go on random breaks and there is no sense of urgency! Of course the emergency room is packed ! From registration to their security officers: there is disdain for patients and there’s an energy as if they’re doing patients a favor! You are not! Every patient there regardless of insurance is bringing millions into your organization! If you are reading this and work there— review your heart! If you’re not for helping people get out and let people with heart take care of our children! Shame on Montefiore! From the top down!

Really disappointing experience in the emergency room. Arrived 4 hours ago for what should be really simple - my son put a pebble up his nose. Only one parent is allowed in with the patient due to Covid (which is completely ridiculous 2.5 years later and since masks are required) and the second parent is not allowed to wait in the waiting room. Where can you wait I ask? They said you can sit on the street. The waiting room is empty how could there be risk of Covid transmission? Rooms are tiny and no one comes to check on your child. I am not sure how to elevate this complaint but I will be filling out surveys and reaching out till I hear back from someone

For a children’s emergency hospital the lack of professionalism is very poor. The wait is ridiculous , not to mention one of the guards in the hospital doesn’t know where to go to make a complaint I don’t know what type of poor training or work ethics is provided here but honestly you better of making a doctors appointment with your regular doctor cause you would be waiting for over 6 hours. Now keep in mind this is a so call emergency room. I’m highly disappointed on how kids are treated here.i would definitely be reporting this hospital to the health department cause this is honestly unacceptable!!! I can likely guaranteed no one would reach out to me at all for this issue but ima make sure for every other parent and children this issue is fixed and they are treated better.

I brought my baby who just turned 1 to his appointment today to see his pediatrician he coughed one time and I was told that he was considered “unhealthy and that they were only seeing healthy kids at this time for their appointments”. Mind you this is a whole baby we talking about. They refused to see me and told me I could be seen at the Emergency room or Urgent care but that they couldn’t see him at all. I don’t understand if you are a doctor why was my son refused care today they told me that him being there would make the other kids sick. I still don’t understand it’s a hospital how was he refused care today when there are 100 of other sick people there since it’s a hospital.

This children hospital saved my sons life 2 years ago and was admitted right away. They monitored him constantly very clean environment very quiet. The nurses and doctors did they job put a smile on my child’s face. Even made me feel welcomed and made sure I was okay as well and made sure I ate with my son. He was in the ER yesterday his information was in the system they was quick and made sure my son felt comfortable and gave him a blanket. Even though it was packed I did not see any nurse joking around but doing their job. Security was doing their job as well as making sure everything was safe for the patients. They was not rude but welcoming as well.

We had an amazing experience at the hospital. The staff was friendly and extremely caring. Our son was born there, and we truly felt like we were surrounded by members of our own family because the staff was exceptional. I highly recommend this hospital.

The worst hospital I have ever been to in my life while some of the staff is great the good does not outwardly the bad ... most of the nurses are rude they wear there badges backwards they don’t introduce themselves and you don’t know who your nurse is most times. The hospital is disgusting there is dirt and grime everywhere I have never seen a hospital so dirty !!! Please do not come nor bring your children here !!! Now over 4 hours since I asked to see a doctor still not here yet !! I’m so over this place worst experience ever !!

This hospital is horrible! I’m a mom with a son who’s on the oncology floor. I never missed a night by my son’s bedside. After a long day at work. Went to see spend the night with my son only to learn that he had a roommate and the father is spending the night in the same room with us. How disgusting is that. We are leaving tonight!!!!!!😡😡😡😡

Montefiore Children’s Hospital is the worst hospital I ever been too. My child had Sickle Cell Anemia and normally we would take care of everything at SUNY Downstate Medical Center but there wasn’t a specific surgeon on hand to do the surgery that was needed. From Saturday to Wednesday,my son has been suffering pain and the doctors have just been filling him up with pain medication that don’t work. First, there is no communication between the team of doctors, all the doctors seem lost and confused about what there doing and no one is filling in the other doctors about what’s happening. My son had to do the COVID 19 test three times and other procedural test because they did not contact his hospital SUNY Downstate for the results. They still haven’t contacted his doctors about everything they have been doing. Second, there is no professionalism at all in this hospital!! All the doctors are saying my son has to do the surgery, but keep putting it off because they are not sure or they have forgotten to run a test. If I didn’t speak up multiple times nothing would be done. Lastly, the surgery was done Tuesday July 21st, 2020 I have not seen the surgeon who did the surgery, he only called my phone just to say what he did. The surgeon didn’t have a meeting and we are in the same building but the surgeon still hasn’t come to make himself known. They lack of professionalism, integrity, and communication. Please do not come to this hospital!!

Brought in my month old Grandbaby to the Childrens Hospital a little past midnight with short of breath. It is 8:30am in the morning and she has not been seen as of yet. One of the unprofessional nurses from this hospital had the nerve to say (without seeing her) that she has worst patients to be seen before her here and it could have been that my daughter over feed her. Will never recommended this hospital again. Go on tiktok with the same experience we are confronting as a nurse claimed that the child was only over feed. She took her child to another hospital and admittedly baby was admitted Hospitals in NY are scary. They will kill your child and not care. Spoke the the Hospitals Nurses Supervisor. Let see how quick they'll be moving. Will keep you posted. 2nd Post: It is now 8:50am. The supervisor responded. They did a covid test on my grandbay and said he had nothing. Easy money for this hospital.

Got here at the ER at 1am and I’m still currently here at 7am I’m here for my younger sibling and he been crying in pain to the point that even liquid started to come out his ear. However there was no sense of urgency and most of the nurses were on their phones. Even though I was 100% sure this was supposed to be a ER.

We have been waiting for 5 hours to get seen by a doctor; my daughter 1 years 6months we in at 1am in the emergency department we were seen by the nurse and was told to wait for the doctor after 4 hours of waiting I went to get self discharged and the nurse at the front desk said that we won’t be receiving anything from the doctor might as well go see our pediatrician. Overall they are really slow and time consuming it looks as if you have to be in critical condition to actually be seen by a doctor.

If I was able to give this horrific emergency hospital a no star I would, I have been waiting for over 6 hours just to get one stitch for my son. I have had people here waiting longer than me with infants. We are human and have rights and this waiting game is an abuse. Never in my life I had to wait this long for a child to get attended this management is just so disgraceful and unprofessional. These emergency doctors need to stop putting payment first and actually attend our future children. This place should have a small section for those who need a quick attention so we won’t have to fill up this waiting room. The kids need more respect towards their pain and suffering. Since I’ve been waiting I’ve asked more than twice to get an approximate time when will my son get seen. I’m so furious right now I feel that these doctors should take there job more serious and stop sitting behind a freaking desk when there is patient here that need to be seen.

1st time at this emergency room and I must say my experience was very bad. When I got there, the waiting area was not that full. I saw the nurse after about 45min and was told to wait in the waiting area again until they call me. As I sat there waiting, I see that there were patients that were seen leaving, so I thought that they would be calling people. That was not the case. I was there for a total of 3 hours and in that time I heard them call only 2 people. I ended up leaving

Besides the time of wait (which is understandable) and rush of kids coming in back to back this emergency department team is on point. Thank you. For all your hard work. The Director is amazing besides being so busy he still makes you feel welcome and taken care of with a great sense of humor. Thank you DR.Fein❤️

Before I say anything else this hospital is racist yes they don't like Muslims here is not my first time been in here and all I see is Muslims parents with kids are in hallways with sick kids while the rest are accommodated in rooms and beds the wait time it was for me 8 hours to see a Dr. And if I was going to ask how many people ahead of me they will get aggravated and Michel Gambos MD was brave enough instead of apologizing to me after 8 hours waiting she told me out there are many pediatrics if you can't wait here this hospital is disaster 1 pediatrician and 3 practitioner they where using baby's instead of dolls like hello enough killing people you white uniforms who are calling your selfs heros why kids have to suffer there so long waiting for a Dr and he never comes but the practitioner first and after 3 hours a Dr passes bay enough playing with parents if montefiore don't have enough doctors then just close the hospital let someone else who can do the job take over this state is sinking day-to-day deeper and deeper sad very sad.

Horrible and ridiculous! Took my 1 yr and a half cause she was vomiting the whole night and my 3 yr old started with an earache, got there by 11 pm and was still 3 am and still waiting to be seen. When we asked how much longer? There was 5 more children ahead of us. We decided to go back home and take them to their pediatrician after that. I understand the time waiting in an adult emergency but with kids is very delicated and should be treated with more urgency. NEVER AGAIN GOING BACK THERE! IT WAS A VERY BAD EXPERIANCE.

The staff is very nice but the quality of care is awful. My child was a patient there for 2 months and after numerous test, labs and procedures they still could not give me a diagnosis. I then moved my child to another hospital and in two days I was given a diagnosis only to find all that was done to my child at CHAM was unnecessary and pure torture. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone.

I went to CHAM after waiting for over 2 hours at another hospital with my 14 month old baby struggling to breathe. I went from there to an urgent care who wanted him to go back via ambulance. I suspected he had RSV and possibly bronchiolitis or pneumonia. I coul believe the first hospital made us wait. When I arrived at Monte I was so frustrated I was almost in tears. They immediately took him and within just a little time we were being seen by some great staff. Everyone who saw us over the next two days was great. The respiratory therapist that saw us in the ER and the next two nights while we were admitted was especially wonderful. Truly a gem. We got excellent care. I can't imagine how many moving parts there are to a hospital of that size in such a busy area, so am really amazed at how well everything went.

Thank God for giving these wonderful people courage and patience to deal with my son. He was 7 lbs at 7months when he was admitted, he spent 10 months and left over 20lbs. Thanks to all the staffs at monte, esppecially from CHAMP 10.

NEVER take your children here with RSV. Was there yesterday and they sent me back home with no medication for him whatsoever. Last night he had trachea tug in his neck and I came back AGAIN at 5am. I had to force them to do an IV line on him because he was dehydrated and had no appetite. They ended up telling me there’s nothing they can do for him even tho he needed help in his sleep while he was struggling to breathe. I warned you!!

I was waiting for hours when I saw that people who arrived after me were passing by, PADMINI HARIPERSOWD she answered me very rudely and sarcastically, she told me to wait or have a good night, I asked her name and she began to laugh mockingly in my face, she was so rude to me that her Security had to intervene and told her to go back to her place and he kept laughing. I felt humiliated and discriminated because I didn't ask in a rude way.

Montefiore Hospital is a walk in morgue. This is the worse hospital ever. If you have a death wish go to Montefiore. My mother developed strep throat in there and went untreated which went sepsis. 😳 She wasn't given no antibiotics and was told to go gome and call hospice to die. I took her to Down State Hospital and the doctors gave her antibiotics for the sepsis and they found out that she developed blood clots in her leg while in Montefiore which went to her heart. The nurses act like they're nice but at nights they would not pay my mother no attention and I would be on the phone with her while they ignoring her calls but you can hear them laughing and talking. My mom left Montefiore in a vegetable state and left out of Down State talking and alert

Honesty the worse waiting room I have been, when I got there, there was just two people in front of me and they called them in together I end up been by myself at the waiting area. It past a hour and they didn’t call me, I went to the front desk and ask how many people were in front of me and they told me I was the next patient. It past another hour and 20 min exactly after I ask and they call me in. Wait another hour in there for them to tell me an unsure diagnose.

This hospital rushes care and is vague in communicating procedures. A 5 night stay was necessary and my review is based on that and our emergency experience, which was a 3 out of 5 star based on my four individual times with my child. Sub par as compared to Presbyterian Hosp on 168 and Broadway, which we will return to. We have gone here because its closer as needed only.

If you genuinely care for your child’s well being, genuinely. You would never take your child here. Child was taking there to get better and was attacked by the security guards. Following this incident they denied it ever happened , and Chose not to release footage. Also drugged child after with no choice or parental consent to put them to sleep. If the child doesn’t take the pill they will try to use blunt force to hold down your child and inject them.

I would not recommend this hospital at all. It is the worst hospital. Yes, a few reviews had a positive experience. Just because a select few had positive experiences at this hospital doesn’t erase those of us with terrible experiences. I’m having some sort of ptsd related to my hospital experience. Beware that ACS lives in this children hospital and the administration have weird policy’s in place where they can hold you hostage.

the waiting in emergency room is really bad. I went there with My mom, we got there at 10pm and the time the doctor decided to check me out was at 3am.

(Translated by Google) I took my daughter to see a neurologist, the boy at the desk did not register me when I arrived and that is why the doctor did not want to assist me after waiting for hours, he finally attended me and it was the worst experience of my life, for ethics I do not put the name of the doctor, but I didn't feel comfortable or well served by him.

I don't go into the children part of the hospital. I went to 3400 Bainbridge; and the services there for patients is excellent. Very kind and friendly staff, answering patients questions, as well as waiting on them. Kudos💯 for Montefiore Hospital, keep up the great work.👍🏽👍🏽

This hospital is prejudice against Hispanics and blacks. My son was admitted for the first time back in November and leadership Ms. Pamela Hametz, Tania Maher, Raffaelle Lobasso just to name a few restricted me for no reason from seeing my special needs child. Mind you, my son is autistic with ID and by law they cannot prevent me from visiting my son. They created this unlawful contract to which I did not sign nor did I agree to it stating that I could not see my son whenever I wanted to. That I could not call the unit to speak with the nurse's. That I could not page the ADN on duty for assistance and the list goes on. I never did anything to my son nor did I assault any of their staff they just don't want me to see in what condition I may find my sonbin they're covering their tracks so they can neglect my son. Pamela Hametz and Tania Maher are evil they're biased and prejudice as I said towards hispanics and blacks. Customer service is a joke they don't do anything they work for the hospital it's a cover up but I will be suing Montefiore Children's Hospital for defamation of character as well as violating my parental rights and my son's visitation rights. They better get ready they're gonna need the best lawyers in town. My son got admitted again on February 20 and again, leadership continues to violate my parental rights by allowing me one visit a week which is insane! My son is autistic with special needs these people have no right to keep his mother his representative away from him because I need to ensure that all his basic needs are being met in a daily basis. DO NOT take your child who has a disability for admission at this hospital they are unsympathetic, rude, disrespectful, among other things and the worst of the bunch is Pamela Hametz she is the medical director this woman is evil. Tania Maher the director of nursing and assistant director of nursing and Raffaelle Lobasso nurse manager at CHAM 6. These people have made my son's admission difficult the stress they have put me through is unforgivable and all of them need to be investigated by the state.
