For your health, do not go to this hospital. They are nothing but insurance vampires / succubus. There is no reason why anyone should have to correct a Dr on the reason for the visit. 3 times my wife had to correct 2 Dr's and 1 nurse. A woman on vacation from the UK was in that ER for 2 full days and going on to day 3 at midnight. There is no real medical work being done as to trying to find the cause of the ailment. A total of 6 hrs and nothing to show for it. We asked to be discharged so that we could go to an actual hospital for a second opinion. Because the discharged explanation did not maybe what my wife is going through. Should you have a life or death moment, please don't go to this hospital. Your life and your insurance deserve better. Leave this con artist hospital to other con artists. Your health / life deserves nothing but the best.

My family was hospitalized at And New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Lower Manhattan and here, Compared to New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Lower Manhattan, this is a human hospital, full of care, And New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Lower Manhattan is a prison, with frisk searches and package searches, Everyone seems to be committing crimes at And New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Lower Manhattan. Mount Sinai West Hospital is full of care and care. Everyone is very friendly, from the entry process to visiting patients to the hospital, and provides help to the patients as much as possible. This is a very, very good hospital, and I would highly recommend any friend or relative who needs hospitalization. Don't go to New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Lower Manhattan, it's a horrible hospital you'll regret going to.

Currently waiting for an ultrasound. I have been here for 2 hours. Have to wait another hour as they only have one technician who can do the job. I was told, it's the weekend so... very unacceptable and I just dont understand why you have people on a waiting list for so long, with one resource available. This is not right. Very disappointing Update: still here. Had my ultrasound done after another hour of waiting. The technician was kind. Waited another hour for doctor. Recommended a cat scan, but the kicker is that I wait 3 hours for it, then another hour for the results. Nope, I'm going to the hospital near my home. I cant wait another hour. It's not right. All the best to everyone waiting. I feel your pain.

The most incompetent medical care I’ve ever received. I thought I was going to die — DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMEONE WHO CAN ADVOCATE FOR YOU AND STAY WITH YOU THE ENTIRE TIME. They didn’t even look at me or give me a room until I texted my partner to come to the hospital because they had dumped me on a bed in a hallway for several hours and I was starting to fear that I would die and nobody would notice, they went through the motions for a few hours until they could convince my partner to leave, and then they resumed being incompetent. I lost a lot of blood and they didn’t even give me IV saline, begged several employees to at least give me a cup of water and they refused because it wasn’t their job (during the few hours my partner was there they told him if I wanted water he had to go get it from a vending machine, but a security guard refused to let him leave the floor to get to the vending machine and they continued to refuse me tap water — by the time I was discharged my lips were cracked from dehydration), I was so weak from blood loss and dehydration I couldn’t sit up, they told me they needed to do another blood test a few hours in because they were worried I might need a transfusion and then never did followup test and refused to do it when I asked about it later, I spent hours crying for help and debated trying to roll and drop 4 feet into the hard floor and crawl for help but I didn’t think I would be able to do it without badly hurting myself. Two doctors and an ultrasound technician misdiagnosed me several times (yes, the technician gave me a diagnosis and it was wildly false) and gaslighted me insisting I was fine but also bleeding internally and they weren’t sure why but they didn’t think it was a medical concern and treated me like I was overreacting until they finally called in a referral like 6-8 hours in; the referral told me the opposite of everything they’d said before, confirmed everything I had been saying to the other doctors the whole time was right, and were very insistent I not leave without receiving a surgical procedure. I was so weak I was having difficulty seeing and could barely read the consent form, but I explicitly confirmed the person who was supposed to doing it was the supervising doctor (and was the only name in the consent form) and made it clear that was the only one I was comfortable with; instead the person who did the surgical procedure was the person who had had me sign the consent form, and I had NOT wanted them to do it because they were a resident who gave extremely painful ultrasounds and I did not trust them to do the procedure. They did the procedure without anesthetic and without the pain medication they had promised when getting me to consent to let them doing it even though I was crying and begging them to stop, it was so painful I could barely string words together beyond “ow” and “please stop” but I did at one point manage to articulate “this is not adequate pain management”. They abandoned me for hours, claimed they ordered meds and tests that they never did, etc. Finally the morning shift came and somebody actually checked on me and actually seemed concerned for my welfare; they gave me water, a saline drip, and the pain medication I’d been promised several hours before (which 2 night shift doctors and a nurse had lied about being ordered). It was also really dirty, and when I was finally given enough fluids for my vision to stop being dim and gray and be able to stand up, I stepped down from the exam table I’d been abandoned on into a puddle of my own blood. I could barely walk for the next five days after being a patient here, even though normal recovery for what they did should have been around a day. They also were adamant that I needed a followup and promised they would make me an appointment but never did. This is the worst emergency room I’ve ever been to in my life, and to top it off they’ve totally botched the billing. I wouldn’t wish this experience in anyone.

On the 23rd, I woke up feeling unwell, thinking I might have caught a cold. In the afternoon, I went to the sauna in my building's club to sweat it out. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse after sweating. My heart rate surged, and I experienced left chest pain. As the day went on, I developed a headache, body aches, and my heart rate remained consistently above 120 beats per minute. Realizing something was wrong, I promptly went to Mount Sinai ER. To my dismay, the hospital didn't address my cardiac discomfort properly. They prescribed a high dose of Tylenol and ibuprofen without considering my elevated heart rate. Up until now, my heart rate remains elevated above 100 even when lying down. The medical staff didn't conduct an ECG or relevant cardiac enzyme tests, and it never crossed their minds that myocarditis could be the cause. I am truly disappointed in the professionalism and care provided by this hospital.

Vesting here recently made me re-think all the praise that I have had for our first responders since Covid began. I was locked in a room, was constantly being told that a nurse would be coming to check on me - which never happened, I had to go out to the doctors station 5 different times to remind them that I was still in their care, and it ended up taking almost 9 hours for a procedure that could have been done in 2 hours at an Urgent Care. I kept getting told that its part of the process - when I know for a fact that they twice forgot to update my chart (my doctor actually checked my chart remotely), and if not for my persistence is making them do each little thing, this visit easily could have lasted another 5 hours. THIS is the reason that people are delaying trips to the ER, the doctors simply dont carte and the nurses are so under-staffed that they are all miserable

Lawsuit for malpractice on the way! I had a horrible experience here. The emergency room wasn't even busy and I came in after not eating for days and days completely dehydrated they gave me one bag of fluids and an anti-nausea pill instead of an injection which I should have gotten because I can't keep food down and then they just sent me on my way. So I'm about to be in another emergency room and another state because they didn't do their jobs. In my opinion, it's malpractice. If you can pick any other emergency room do it like something on the upper east side where they treat you like a human. They sent me with no prescriptions. No medications to take and I was on a road trip.

Emergency rooms are always the worse. If they don’t improve people are going to prefer to die at home than going to the emergency

Mount Sinai west has the best surgeons in the city and I have had surgery at almost every major hospital in NYC. My surgery was August 6th After my surgery the anesthesiologists communicated with me and answered all of my questions. The nurses gave me a walker to go home with after surgery which was so nice! I was shocked! There are a few downsides. First the room you wait before you get surgery has 2 LOCKED bathrooms that are unoccupied. The employees at the desk had no answers about that or any alternative locations for bathrooms. Second there are paintings of bloody surgeries outside of the room where patients check in. It is frightening! What message are they trying to give by showing you bloody paintings before heading into surgery. What's up with that? Third it is chaos in there. Employees fighting in front of me ,the patient. This nurse, I think her name was Denise was attacking the anesthesiologist I think her name was Jamie. There was no reason for that! Jamie was so nice too. The nurse was nice to me but was really attacking the anesthesiologist and would not stop or let her talk to me much before surgery. Everyone was making it into a HUGE deal to talk to me. One of the questions that nobody would answer is if it was safe for me to have surgery after stopping blood thinners for one week I wanted to wait 2 weeks. Nobody answered me and went ahead with the surgery and i Some bleeding could have been avoided if they spoke to me ahead of time. It turned out to be okay but still could have been avoided. Also at other hospitals the PA's do everything but surgery. At Mount Sinai the surgeons have to do everything. The surgeon did not complain to me. I just think it over loads the surgeon and I would want my surgeon to focus on surgery and not to answer a bunch of questions that any PA can answer. Also the bed they had me on was mad dirty. Sheets that seemed to not have been washed in a very long time! The pre surgery staff gave me the wrong address. The security at the front desk said they do that all the time! The registration was chaotic as well with no working bathrooms no organization and it is not a calm atmosphere before surgery. But the surgeon is world class which is the reason for 4 stars! I need to update this in 2023 It was before Covid and really dirty. The surgeon was great! He saved my life! However he moved to Miami beach and is heading up their orthopedics hospital there. My PMP used to be at Mount Sinai he said fishy stuff was going on during covid I will leave it at that. Otherwise they will take down my review.

Was seen at triage 3 p.m. I saw one doctor had X-ray done it took almost an hour waiting 7 p.m. had someone come in to draw blood poked me five times no blood I don't go to med school but I'm pretty sure that shows I'm dehydrated. Someone came in around 10 p.m. to draw more blood and I said no I am dehydrated you're not poking me again. Finally 10:30 I finally see a doctor. Not sure if the ER Department actually cares for the patients that come through the door. Just as bad upstairs on 9A was a patient for 4 days and hardly seen by doctors and nurses I had to call the main hospital number to call my nurses station to get ahold of nurses and still took hours My injury wasn't properly treated and getting served meals took hours past due time examples Breakfast was served closer to lunch, lunch served closer to dinner and dinner served real late even was skipped a few times plus always served cold when supposed to be hot meals.

My husband has been there for 3 days In the ER with no bathroom no room can't eat for three days becuse of no bathroom plus they are discriminating becuase my husband is a big guy due to his weight they won't help him to use the bed pan to pee they won't clean the dirty floor my husband is a risk fall he has to get out of bed to pee on his own in the bin and no one to wipe him he can't do it on his own plus he asked them for a bariatric commode haven't brought him one so they don't care about there patients just the Medicaid to use it up then send him with his testicles swollen due to no room and he is still in pain anything happens to my husband I will get a lawyer and sue the hospital on the grounds of discrimination due to his weight plus leaving him with out eating due to no bathroom and no room. I will be reporting this hospital today.

If I could give 0 star, I would. Slipped and hit my head while going in the subway so someone called an ambulance to send me there. Worst ER experience of my life. The front desk was very rude asking for all the information about my insurance, work, home etc even though I just had a concussion. They were so afraid they weren't going to get my money. I had a video call with my husband since he was out of town telling him I was at the ER and got scolded by the nurse for taking the call. After that, I spent 3 hours waiting for a doctor to confirm my CT scan results. When the doctor finally came and talk to me, one of the front desk personnel came standing next to him holding up a sign saying no video recording (which I was not even doing at that point). It was very poor timing and uncalled for. Very unprofessional interrupting the doctor explaining my conditions to me. Now I can't wait to see a 5 digit bill they're going to send me.

The afternoon shift of nurses are the slowest and rudest people ever. Especially the tall Caucasian bald nurse. I came before in the early morning on a weekend and they were much kinder and quicker! Get better staff that actually do their job. I was in a cold room with a robe on for HOURS to the point that I even fell asleep. The emergency room wasn’t even packed. When I told them I’ve been waiting hours the bald Caucasian man responded “there are people here waiting longer than you” which was a lie because the same people who got there with me had left. If there are people there longer than me which I was already there for 4 hours by the time he told me this then someone isn’t doing their job correctly. Hire people that actually care about patients.

A wasteland of time, energy and money. Over four hours for a knee injury. Medical prison. I finally asked “can I leave? I’m worse off here than at home.” Doctors kept saying “we’re not busy at all so it should be just a minute.” Hours passed. No blanket, no ice pack, no anything comfortable or worthwhile. I left mad at myself for even having the idea to go and not just suffer/self heal at home.

My partner and I received inhumane treatment from an African American nurse or PA with glasses. She dismissed all his concussion symptoms by saying “I don’t wanna hear your laundry list of issues”, explicitly said “The doctor probably won’t do anything.” and neglected to put on a patient’s gown and lead vest during his scan. What a horrible human being.

Better to die than to come here. Showed up with severe symptoms no tests were taken but covid (riding the pandemics wave to not give pepper care. Didn't even take a blood test). They literally didn't care to find out what was wrong with me, I was just a practical for their med student. Test results were do 6-12 hours. After 12 hours I was told I was lying and no one told me 6-12 it's actually up to 18. At 18 hours I call again and now they don't know when, if ever I will get my results. I will still pay the grossly overpriced bill. This place is everything that is wrong with the healthcare in this country.

Hi. CityMD told me I need a sonogram because my leg is swollen and it could be a blood clot (sounds kinda serious, no?). I’ve been sitting in this horrendous ER for 3 hours with no sonogram performed and no progress whatsoever. In the 3 hours I’ve been here, they’ve successfully managed to slap 2 wrist bands on me, moved me to 2 waiting rooms and finally to a tiny patient room in the corner with blood on the wall and they have officially left me here to rot. No status updates. It’s freezing. No one knows what going on. I don’t feel like they care about me at all. If I didn’t think I may actually have a potential blood clot I’d walk out. (If you can, you should walk out and go to different ER) Update: after 5+ hours in the ER, I would like to give a shout out to Alex the sonogram tech (angel Alex), Alton, and Dr. Lestin. All employees and healthcare providers who CARE. They were the only employees throughout (towards the end of) our entire experience that actually treated us like human beings. Thank you Alex, Alton & Dr. Lestin. This place is god awful. Avoid at all costs. Go to NYU / Northwell.

I have never been to an ER until yesterday, though I am glad I went to Mt Sinai West for my care. My husband was expecting us to have a long wait so I brought along a book to bide the time. However, we were seen within 10 minutes. Nana was the ER nurse upfront that handled my intake. She is such a warm soul, I hope these words find her (thank you, Nana!). We visited the ER in the morning (7:30am), which the staff said was usually a quieter time for the unit. The staff - doctors, nurses, volunteer - were attentive to my needs and I was also provided a private room, which made the experience comfortable, despite feeling ill.

My visit was quick and easy, probably an hour and a half at most. Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. They answered all my questions and were personable. I didn’t go for anything major but the entire medical team made me feel at ease. The emergency rooms were all totally clean. The vibe overall was great. This location is at the top of my list of I ever need services like this again.

"I just came to the hospital and spoke to the doctor. The doctor refused to help and directed me to his friend's hospital, asking me to contribute financially. He didn't assist me for health reasons but rather for financial gain, both from me and his friend. He's not working for human health; he's working for money."

I visited this ER 4 times in past years. The quick summery is. twice bad and twice ok experiences. In my experience, I decided never go to ER for a choice. Wasting time and money for both our side as patients and doctors. 1, My husband was not feeling well ( suggested by another medical professionals to visit ER ) so I took him to this ER. We waited one hour but no one came while ER was empty so we tried to check out, then a nurse quickly came to checked his blood press and said “he is ok”) received $1200 bill. It was a terrible experience. (2017 Summer) 2, I took my infant to the ER. Drs and nurses were keep asking and suggesting if we were abusing our baby...(crazy) that was disrespectful for parents worried about new born baby. (2020 summer) 3, I took my toddler. ( Same baby ) We got a good attention and everything was helpful. A quick check in and out. However, they suggested to do online Ped instead of coming to ER….. but it was suggested by another medical consultant to go to ER. (2021Winter) 4, I went myself as an urgent care sent me to the ER, it was a quick checkin/out. I had a quick medical attention and cares although a little lack of explanation towards further checks (2021 Summer)

At an _emergency room_, when in immense pain, these are the question you'll be asked before someone takes a look at you- 1. What religion do you practice? 2. What's your job title? 3. How do you commute to work? And if you think it's reasonable to request the TV volume be lowered when you have an unbearable migraine, expect to be told to go screw yourself.

The worst ER ever, waiting for 4 hours just for a X-ray, the X-ray tech has to work on 3 different places at the same shift. This hospital is not administrators . Being there 4 times on for the past 3 years nothing has changed for better. I will never go back to there.

I went to MSWEmergency late morning 20Jul23, a month ago today. At 1:30 am that day I lost my balance while trying to identify my carry-on luggage (I was told it “had to be checked” at San Fran Intnl Airport) on the carrousel at Newark Intnl Airport and fell flat on my right knee. When I was helped to stand up by two persons around me, I limped and knew there was a serious problem. I was extremely well taken care of at MSWE - Maria T Vaz (MRN: H278279) - from the triage nurse to Dr Risham Singh, the first doctor to talk to me and ask relevant questions, to Dr Alexis who observed my several X-rays and, finally, to 3-4 orthopedists who gave the final diagnosis. I had a serious fracture of my right patella. Since I was a tourist traveling back home two days later, they put a knee immobilizer so I could travel more comfortably. A godsend! I cannot thank enough the whole team who oversaw me and allowed my husband to be with me the whole time. Thank you! Teresa Vaz aka Teresa A. d’Eça
