Mount Sinai-Union Square, Urgent Care

Urgent care center

😠 If your website, phone number, and google all list your closing time as 5pm, your lobby security shouldn’t be turning people away at 4:20 saying “they closed at 4:15 today”. You are an urgent care center run by one of the largest health systems in the city and you provide a service to the community.... People often mention care, doctor, test, urgent, pain, Mount, Sinai, wait, time, hour,

This is the worst place to get a COVID test. We showed up at 8am, an hour before they opened and were waiting for 4 hours before we finally saw someone. They force everyone coming in for a simple COVID test to see an urgent care doctor and get a full evaluation so they can charge you for the doctor evaluation as opposed to just the test. This is completely unnecessary - multiple other testing sites I’ve been to don’t do this. It not only unnecessarily slows down the testing process, but is also predatory to patients who might not have insurance. They are extremely slow at turning around even a simple COVID test. About 20 mins per person. The check-in counter is the slowest counter I’ve ever experienced. I would highly advise anyone trying to get a COVID test to go elsewhere.

We went here for a COVID test on 11/21 - despite arriving 30m before they even opened we had to wait FIVE AND A HALF HOURS in total for the test. I understand that testing demand is high in NYC right now, but there is no world in which this is acceptable. Not to mention the fact that patients are being put at risk being in close quarters with others for this long / moving around and sitting in half a dozen chairs that have not been cleaned. Mount Sinai should be completely embarrassed by the service at this location.

I went there to get my covid 19 test. I did wait a little but once someone saw me it was very fast and efficient! I got the results less than 24h later. Would 100% recommend if you are traveling and need a test!

Extremely polite staff and still not fast enough. Urgent care visits should be under a hour but you will be here for over an hour even when the facility is not crowded. Waiting in the waiting room is to be anticipated but once your in the exam room be ready to wait additional time. I Love the atmosphere and the energy from the employees but an hour and 45 minutes is not needed for a quick screening. Quality is there in the service but speed is lacking.

They charge for COVID tests. While it is illegal, their workaround is that they force you to see a specialist, and then they can charge the insurance and your co pay. And if you have no insurance (let's say you are homeless or otherwise in need) they charge you $150. Shameful. --edit responding to the reply from Mount Sinai: the response is irrelevant. No other clinic is charging people, and there was no real evaluation. This is simply a billing trick and should be stopped.

Absolutely awful experience here getting a COVID-19 PCR test on 9/27. The woman at check-in was talking on the phone with AirPods in, which she continued to do while reading back my PII/PHI. The nurse who administered the test was better, although clearly hadn't looked at my chart or info. Days later, I get two bills - one for $173.22 and another for $56.25 *for a COVID test* including medium complexity/new visit with a doctor and after hours, when I was treated at 4:30pm and never saw a doctor. Don't come here for anything *unless* you are certain it will be cheaper/faster than an emergency room.

The technician who took my blood pressure today was contemptuous of my questions and refused to give me a glass of water — despite the fact that I’m in my late seventies, I indicated I was there because I was feeling lightheaded, it was 90 degrees outside and the doctor had said I might be dehydrated and that they’d get me a glass of water. The technician kept saying, “You can’t get a glass of water here.”

I had a great experience here. Came in on a Sunday morning and waited no more than 5 minutes. I was seen by a nurse, nurse practitioner, and doctor. Everyone was very helpful, they ran lots of tests to figure out what was wrong, explained my diagnosis and treatment plan, and were very helpful. Highly recommend this urgent care!!!

I went to Mount Sinai urgent care because I experienced pain in my bladder and kidneys. I read the website, and it says that they have all kinds of medical equipment, they will do all necessary procedures/tests, and also refer you to other doctors. That's the care I expected from such a big hospital. What I got? Unfriendly security on the first floor, an extremely unfriendly front desk assistant, and a doctor who didn't do anything for me. I didn't even receive a physical exam; they didn't suggest touching where I had the pain to diagnose what exactly is in pain (kidney, ovaries, or something else). All they did was a urine test for UTI. They concluded that I didn't have UTI and should go home. And that this bladder pain is normal for a woman in the middle of a cycle. Are they even serious? I had 2 days of sharp pain, my kidneys felt swollen, and I explained it! This is not the norm! I expected they would perform a kidney ultrasound or at least make an appointment for me for another day if they couldn't do it today. I went home with zero (!!) help with my pain! I expressed concerns about kidney stones, but they said to go to my gynecologist. This was honestly the worst care I could ever imagine.

Kudos for Orthopedist Dr Kim! And the Urgent Care Center at Mount Sinai Union Square. I had just returned from a brief trip to Quebec City. where I had a fall, twisted my ankle and thought I had a fracture. This was Black Friday, a very busy and bustling day. Living Downtown I called the Urgent Care center and explained to the operator my situation and in no time put me to speak with Dr Kim, Orthopedist on call. Something about her plan of action gave the confidence I needed to go to the Urgent Care Center at Mount Sinai. She met me, carefully listened and examined me, made the necessary indications, and had me X Rayed and discharged me with the necessary elements for a quick recovery. That's good patient care and should be recorded for others to know. Serge Mosovich

I called at 2.45pm to check their availability and was told we can just come before 4.30pm (on a Saturday) because that’s when they take in last patient. Showed up there at 3.30pm and the guy on the first floor said they are closed!! Their hour is till 5pm, how could they close at 3.30pm??! He pushed us to go to the emergency at 16th street. I asked if it’s the same as urgent care he insisted yes. He also said looks like ur friend needs emegent care not urgent care ?!! Is he a doctor to even say that?? Then i called 16th street and they said they are emergency not urgent care (which means jt’s super expensive to go there). We decided to go to City MD after that and it was fine. Their closing time was at 5pm, i saw that they let people in till 5pm. Anyway this place’s treatment to patient was unacceptable. They just try to make money off patients who are in pain.

From check in to leaving I had a great experience. They took such good care me. I needed an ultrasound done and was beyond grateful to be able to get one at the same facility. The staff was amazing. The nurses were very friendly and helpful and the doctor listened to my concerns. 100% definitely recommending to everyone.

It's been a week since I've gone to the urgent care here. I was told that my meds were sent to the pharmacy but everytime I call my pharmacy they keep saying they have no meds for me. I call the urgent care office again and express my concern to them. They assure me to resend my meds and confirm the right pharmacy. I wait 2 days, and call my pharmacy and what do you, they don't have my medications. Now I'm struggling with immense pain in my ears because the doctors have been lying about sending my meds!!

Arrive little after 4pm on 10/6, with a brioken middle finger, was told it's 40 minutes wait, do to only one doctor on site, decided to wait, was called around 50 minutes after arriving, explained what happened, was told X-Ray is needed, the assistant insist on a pregnancy test before the x-ray to rule out that I'm not pregnant, stated it's no way I'm pregnant Tubilization & IUD check my chart you will see, plus didn't need to go to the rest at the time, was told to wait in the room until I needed to, 15 mins pass, felt the need to go came out ask where is the rest room, to only be told, we just going to send you to do the x-ray without the pregnancy we saw in your chart IUD & Tubilization, I signed in frustration, then was handed the paperwork for the x-ray where to go for the x-ray. That took less than 15 to complete, took hour and half to receive the results for the x-ray, to only be told I have to go to the ER because this urgent care location closes in 45 minutes, this is after sitting there for 3hours. Never had any issues with this urgent care in the pass, today made all the good experience I had, turned into the worse, they purposely had me wait to only send myself and few other patients that arrived before and after me go to the nearest ER. This is not acceptable, my injury got worse as time passes the pain also got worse, I had to ask for ice pack, was not offer anything for the pain. This urgent care at union Square needs to be look into this not good, attach first arrived 3 hours later

My visit at the Mount Sinai Urgent Care Center was amazing! I was greeted at the front desk with a smile by Rose. Then Tieisha did my vitals and made me feel safe. Dr. Henderson walked in and took care of my wounds so gently - her bedside manner is impeccable! Marlene then took me to get some X-rays done. She was very pleasant. Overall A++ A safe, clean, and friendly environment in Union Square!

I sent to Mount Sinai at 10 Union Square East NYC because the last time I visited the outfit was a pleasant one. I go the COVID test pre-surgical then just as I did now. The nurse and doctor were both empathetic. The "not detected" clearance came the day after.

Inefficient front office set up. No ability to book online or by phone. Instead wait in long line to be checked in by a front desk moving at snails pace. Easily fixed with online booking system. Low throughput, had to wait a long time even when I was checked in.

Went there this evening with the hope of seeing a doctor seeing as they close at 8 pm at urgent care, unfortunately they were closed. They had closed over an hour early according to the security guard. Very frustrating to say the least.

I went there around May for ankle pain and was quickly seeing and treated w/A specialist referral to the same place but the P.A didn’t seem to understand I wasn’t looking for an opiate fix, pain killers are regulated every where due to the many persons w/an opiate addiction that have died in the last 10 years or so, still that’s not me I mostly wanted to know the cause of my incredible ankle pain though off course I also went looking for relief . No x rays were done . I was prescribed a low dose of Oral VOLTAREN/DICLOFENAC BUT IF I WENT ON MY NEW ROUTINE OF NOW ONLY walking 1 1/2 mile walks INSTEAD OF MY USUAL 4 miles It would still feel excruciatingly painful to the point the pain would last 3 days straight!! Therefore I figured I better get it checked out.On a scale of 1-5 I give this place minus 4 for speed as I was in a hurry but pain relief is becoming impossible in NYC by the way IT TURN OUT TO BE a so call mild case of arthritis IT SURE DOESN’T FEEL AT ALL THE SPECIALIST CLAIMED I WOULD NEED AND WANTED TO DO A PRIOR AUTHORIZATION SONOGRAM GUIDED CORTISONE SHOT WHICH I WOULD’ VE WAITED ALMOST 2 MONTHS TO GET SO ULTIMATELY WENT TO A LITTLE PODIATRIST IN THE BRONX AND WAS OFFER TREATMENT ASAP W/ MY SHOT DONE THE SAME DAY THERE WITHOUT THE WAINT BUT I STILL FEEL DISCOMFORT though maybe less .

I don’t know which is worse the Mount Sinai hospital or this Urgent care. Severally years back I had nothing but good things to say about Mount Sinai, now it seems it has gone to sugar, honey, ice tea. DO NOT GO HERE! You will wait 15 minutes at the front for no one to be present to check you in. You may see the doctor in a decent time (20-25 minutes)(she was nice), however, you will wait another nearly hour for the nurse. They have signs saying that they show you all of your labels for lab work in your presents. This is clearly because they and the lab have made errors with people’s lab work. The turnaround time to get your lab results is ridiculous, (like we are in the stone age) and it wasn’t even complete, a lab here, a lab there, but not everything. Then nearly a week later, you have to call 4-5 times to get to a person, be put on hold for 7 minutes to be told that your results are complete in the system, yet they did not put it in your MyChart. Then be told by the “receptionist Manny” that he doesn't want to even open it or touch it, but he sees it as complete. Then he states, only the doctor can. Then I asked to speak to the doctor and he said that the doctor is about to go home. So now I have to wait and be inconvenienced more until they finally decide to give me my record. Then he doesn’t want to let me speak to a supervisor, say the supervisor left before the workers, and doesn’t want to give me the patient services number. DON’T GO HERE!!! I was better off going to CityMD!!

A great place for COVID-19 Testing specially for the people who are Traveling. We went there on 23 January for COVID-19 Testing for my parents as they had flight on 26 and they needed Report within 72 hrs from the collection of sample. We went there in the morning 8.30 and there were few people waiting for the same purpose. They were so efficient and professional that they started Testing from 9 am and we are done around 10.30 am. The best thing is that they Updated the Report with 24 hours and 48 hours. They were enough confident about the timing and kept their words. Their professionalism and behavior impressed us. They tried to Help us in every way. As we contacted so many places before testing and maximum places were not enough confident about the Timing whether they would be able to give the Report or not. But Mount Sinai authority were enough confident about the Report. As we had the Insurance so we didn’t have to pay also. They took out of state insurance also. I must say Mount Sinai is the Best Place for COVID-19 PCR Testing for Travellers. Thank you Mount Sinai

Covid is not an emergency... thats what the manager said. He said everything's ok he's doing his job. The worse urgent care. 1.5 hours to be seen. You don't get seen by the time you checked in but they have a system of just visually "assessing you" and if you look fine to them then end of the line for you. They keep on taking patients until the room is not safe anymore or over capacity. Meanwhile there's only one doctor and nurse inside seen a gazillion patients. Good job mr. Manager

This hospital has Everything you need care for. My doctor I initially saw there for a consultation has this one I go to currently, ‘21 nearby like 10 minutes away. Almost adjacent to the hospital. Starbucks, Food Emporium, Panera, and others like these have to be passed when taking the |6|.

clean place with nice staff. However we now been here for 2 and 1/2 hours since checking in, waiting for the technician to show up for an x ray. Over an 1 hour to see a nurse, another 30 min to see a doctor and god knows how long to get the X-ray. If you have all day to sit around, come here otherwise consider going somewhere else , the lack of interest from the staff about waiting this long is a outstanding . There’s hardly a soul here so not sure what the problem is.

I sliced my finger open and ended up under the best emergency care in this city. At the worst life moment possible I was in awe of the hospital staff and how much attention they were able to provide given there were no beds or rooms. The ER was very crowded but staff was calm and collected. Doctors and nurses were quick to stop the bleeding and very clear about procedures and follow up care. 2 days later I went to the urgent care center. I was not only treated but also educated on how to care for a skin avulsion at home. All facilities are impeccably clean with super friendly staff. I hope to never have an emergency room visit ever again, but if I do I will be under the care of Mount Sinai.
