Review I posted on Yelp: I rarely write reviews online, but I thought Id warn others about this place. As many others have seemed to post (on yelp... seem to be removed from google reviews), this place is dangerous. This is not coming from someone who is a mediocre athlete or who is out of shape and decided to go all out randomly in one workout and injure myself. To give context, I can squat about 450 lbs, deadlift about 530 lbs, can do about 30 pull ups and can run a sub 6 min mile. I am in better shape than about 95 percent of the general population if I had to guess. I went to this place a couple of weeks ago and injured my hip pretty badly. I have not been able to squat or do any squat like movements since and my hip hurts all of the time. It is non stop pain that I feel laying down, walking, running etc. I hope its just a muscle strain, but it could be a tear that requires surgery. Regardless, it has reached the point that this is not a sore muscle anymore and is an injury that Ill have to deal with for god knows how long. The reason this place is dangerous is that it takes average people and puts them through a plyometric/sprint workout for a very long duration. Plyometric and explosive work is designed to be done for very short periods of time, followed by long rest periods. They are not designed to be done for an hour straight. Its a recipe for injury. Even elite athletes should not be doing the workout that I went through. Half the exercises were pointless with no upside besides a huge injury risk. They had us do "jumping situps," which is quite possibly the dumbest exercise that Ive ever done in my life. This was coupled with regular situps for 5-10 minutes straight. Your hips and low back are not designed to do exercises like that for long duration. Situps are already seen as a somewhat dangerous and suboptimal exercise to be doing. Why in the world would you decide to make it "jumping?" Its baffling. This was coupled with the sprint work that needs to be eased into for the vast majority of people who take this class. Unless you are actively doing plyometric training or sprinting in day to day life, your body will not be ready for this type of long workout that is filled almost entirely of explosive movements. Even if you do train explosively, the exercise selection was so bad that youd still risk a severe injury. Overall, will never be stepping foot inside this place again. Stick to CrossFit, orange-theory, regular big box gyms, powerlifting gyms... literally anywhere else besides this place

Workout itself is good and the coaches are great. However I recommend you NEVER buy a class pack directly from the studio because of their unscrupulous expiration policies. Use more flexible platforms like Classpass. Like many have said, this is an intense workout and shouldn't be attempted if you're physically comprised in any way. Even at my healthiest I could only come once a week. I normally use Classpass (which is cheaper) but purchased a 5-pack for $185 to support the studio. HUGE MISTAKE. I got unexpectedly injured skiing and emailed asked for an extension. TH requested a physician letter, which I provided, twice. Each time it was not detailed enough for them to extend the classes. Instead I've been charged a $25 monthly extension fee three times now if I want to ever use these classes. Their reason for not accepting my dr's letter is it's not detailed enough and it wasn't given at the time of injury. First of all, my dr is only going to put so much in there due to privacy, and I've already hassled her twice. I'm not giving you my medical history. Second, if I'm injured to the point I needed to see a doctor, my class expiration date isn't top of mind. TH might give you an extra day or two, but basically they find any reason to not extend ur classes and charge you the fee. No matter how small the class pack, it's unlikely you could use it within the short time given unless you have all the time in the world and are sure you'll never be injured, ever. It's a lose-lose for the customer. I still recommend the workout, just don't buy it from the studio.

Took a STRENGTH: TOTAL BODY class with Yusuf Jeffers and I ended up spraining my lower back. He kept pushing me to try heavier weight and when I attempted barbell clean & press with the weight, my back bent incorrectly and cracked a bit. Ended up spending 2 weeks out of the gym because of this (& went to physical therapy). I get that the gym is trying to appeal as “results driven rugged etc etc” but a truly good fitness gym/instructor would never pressure anyone into maxing their weight without knowing their limits or correct form (form is #1). Please take your money elsewhere—they don’t really take safe fitness seriously, it’s just a gimmick.

One of my favourite gyms anywhere. Whenever I’m visiting New York, I stop by Tone House for an unparalleled workout. Great space with some of the best instructors. I still think about the workout that started with arms-only, 50-cal assault bike, followed by an intense workout and ended with 100-cal assault bike. These are the workouts I live for 🙏

Cool concept for weightlifting classes in a small group of people. A heavy workout, but the teacher tries to motivate you and support through the whole journey. Also, a nice studio and design inside

Signed up on the Rookie Pass after being highly recommended! Did a conditioning class and later on a lower body strength class. It was tough but trainers asked up front for anyone with injuries so those could get modifications! Both classes were intense. The conditioning class was cardio and plyometric intensive. The strength class focused on push / pull exercises with laddering reps. Both classes focused on form and safety. Have fun and get strong💪🏽

Started going with our friends and it’s honestly such an amazing experience and workout! I personally hate group workouts and get high anxiety but everyone is super welcoming and knows what they are doing! Great music and great facilities!

Most intense workout in NYC by far. The coaches are so friendly and make you work hard! It is definitely for more advanced athletes, but they welcome everyone with excitement. Be prepared to sweat, burn, and feel great afterwards.

My personal trainer has come highly recommended to me. I've been with her for a long time and have gained a lot of arm, leg, and ab muscle. Every day, she motivates me to be the strongest version of myself. Simply choose her if you want to keep your body in good shape!

I live in Houston but work for a NYC based firm. Every time I have to come to NYC for work I go out of my way to design travel logistics around accommodating tone house drop ins. There’s nothing like these classes anywhere else I’ve been and the people will push you way harder than you would push yourself alone. Friday conditioning day is by hard the best and toughest conditioning workout there is and Wednesday core conditioning is insane as well. Every class I die and come back to life several times throughout class and when I walk out feel like an entirely refreshed, reborn individual. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Thanks Alonzo and Natalia!

If you’re reading this then the chances are you’ve heard of Tone house, the famously tough fitness class in the Mecca of boutique fitness, NYC. It’s a team based sports conditioning class where you train like a professional athlete. Lots of hurdles, push ups, crawling, sweating and praying. If you’re looking to challenge yourself in a fast paced and supportive environment then this is your Jam.

Horrible!!! As a woman I’ve consider myself to be strong having taken F45, CrossFit, ogt, and sculpt classes. I also just moved back from Utah where I was trail running almost everyday. So yah I’m athletic and after taking this class I totally injured my back and shoulders and haven’t been able to workout for the rest of the week because of it! There were few alternatives to heavy weight lifting, the girl next to me just never returned to the station cause it was so hard! Please provide alternatives for everyone so people don’t get hurt !! I’ve asked for my money back since I don’t want to go back and injure myself and they won’t respond! Please refund me!

The best studio work out I've ever done! The conditioning is top notch!! When waiting to take class in the lounge I feel like I am about to commence war, because of the ominous music that plays as you foam roll before the fun truly begins!

Best workout in this city. Truly a special place and a true community of people who push themselves everyday. After working out here, I truly feel as though I can accomplish anything in my daily life. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.

Great gym! Classes are tough. Love the split between strength and conditioning. Community and vibe are great and facilities are nice. Have tried multiple “similar” gyms, this one is the best!

Best workout program in the city! Not even close to what other gyms have to offer you! The program is designed for athletes to stay in shape or to perform better in any sport they are currently active. Highly recommend this place!

Great workout, cool environment. I would recommend and anytime I'm in NY I'll def. take a class. It was challenging, the coach made the workout fun. Wish they have one in Fl!

This was hands down the hardest class I’ve ever taken. It was absolutely brutal. If you think because you can do Barry’s, you can do this, it is not the same. The instructors are good and the moves aren’t difficult but they will tire you out and are more athletic based moves. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stairs is because the shower was broken and leaking all over the locker room floor.

Great gym, great people. Try your best on the turf, leave your ego at the door, every class is a bit different with new moves that keep you coming back.

Hands down, the toughest workout in NYC. Super clean and modern facility & locker rooms. Workouts are rough, but coaches walk you through them and motivate you. You will walk out feeling like you can take over the world!

A highly recommended trainer is my gym instructor. I've been with her for so long, and in my arms, legs and abs I've got significant strength. Every day, she motivates me to the maximum. If you want to get a fit body, just choose it!

If you looking for the best workout in NYC this is your studio, I have tried many studios but this one is so far number one. The best workout you will ever experience in your life. I loved each minute of it, they push you over your mental and physical limits and that's what is about in NYC. It is worth the money and I am glad I had a chance to try the best experience of a real workout.
