The 14th Street Y is an incredible fitness and community center. The center features group fitness classes, gym equipment and a great pool. It has a modern locker room, nice sauna and clean showers. I am so glad I decided to take adult swim lessons here. My instructors have been so professional, making me feel safe and comfortable in the water. They are so patient and have helped me overcome my fear of swimming!

The gym is ancient and much of the equipment is limited and beyond repair. The space is far too small to accommodate, especially during peak hours. I waste more time trying to wait for equipment to free up and for people to let others have access. Very disappointing. Whoever is the manager in this place needs to update the gym area with more equipment and establish better rules and policies. There is no enforcement here. Also, they offer the usual classes you would find at any Y or big box type gym but there is no boxing class? Why? That is probably the most effective and popular class in any gym or boutique fitness facility. There should be one at this place. No reason why it does not exist and I came here specifically due to the close proximity and for access to a boxing based type class. One where they have a heavy bag and some pads to train with a good coach. Not sure why this place does not have such a class already. Shame, since they have a large studio for the silly dance class or barre stuff. We live in a pro-crime city, I would say boxing is more relevant.

Great location good facilities but I had a horrific experience with swimming pool staff, repeatedly. Was odd, bizarre and bullying.not something I've ever experienced before. If you're a single non Jewish woman I wouldn't consider joining I had to cancel my membership which was most unfortunate.

I have been going to the gym for over 2 years. I have never been to the pool but heard good things about it. Fitness center is good. Basic machines. Can be a bit tight during the rush hours. Overall a good place. The membership fees a quite nominal and love the fact that they charge monthly with no commitment or contract. Quite hassle free.

While the 14th Street Y is a place to exercise, it was also used recently for a venue on an open house for the Canarsie tunnel closure. I felt it was a great place to do this, given the fact that there's so much to learn about how the tunnel closure would change people's commute through the city.

Going back to working out after a LONG break. There was a lot going on, people of all ages using machines and exercise spaces. Notable attention to hygiene practices.

A wonderful, inclusive community center, once you pay. The lounge area in the front has seats, tables, and an area for kids to run around. There is stroller parking and a snack-vending machine. The gym receives regular updates to its equipment. The pool has women-only as well as family swim times, and offers classes for kids from infancy through young adult hood. The children’s programming includes part- and full-time programs in early education, as well as after-school dance, basketball, and swimming. The early childhood program provides great resources for parents as well as children 0–3. The arts and theatre programs offer a tremendous diversity of thoughtful entertainment.

Great space with a warm and friendly staff, and (for the most part) chill, respectful patrons. Very good and accessible pool hours for adult lap swimming. I love that there are multiple lap lanes that work well for every type of swimmer. Great Lifeguards. All-around decent accommodations at a reasonable price. Highly recommend!

Very run down facility. The gym area is tiny and get cramped and overcrowded during peak hours. The indoor court is often empty during the day and a complete waste of space. The classes are limited to the same offerings I find at local gyms. Why is there not a cardio boxing or kickboxing class offered? That is the most popular nowadays. I came here looking specifically for such a class after leaving an expensive Rumble style class. I thought this place being a Y, would offer such a class for far less. What a shame as there does seem to be enough space in the studio too.

Great place its run with professionalism everyone was welcoming. The swimming pool was great and the summer the classes well attended by women who were in great shape, don't you dare look at their age and think anything less!! The teacher and the music were well-chosen loved it. It was a true workout!!! There was even a lifeguard, who was kind enough to give me another swimming cap, to borrow, when mine wouldn't stay on.

The locker room is nice and the showers are nice and cold. The gym area is spacious and they have plenty of equipment. The pool is always kept at around 84 degrees and is 20 yards.

Oh, the Y... I've been going here for nearly 10 years and the place is pretty much the same. I appreciate the community they built around this place. The gym, while on the small side, is really well kept and the machines are all brand new. Locker rooms and shower are on the dingy side, but I got used to it. I like this olace

Although staff is pleasant and they try the gym was not worth the membership of $89/ month. It’s not your typical gym culture as the facilities are shared by a school inside the building. While the machines are kept clean I find the bathroom floors in the shower gross as the tiles in the shower are blackened. The workout area gets really hot and has a ventilation issue they can’t seem to fix making it unbearable to work out. Also the gym pool is used daily by kids who use the bathroom and sauna. Many women wear shoes and bring their bags and pocketbooks inside the sauna which is unsafe and unhealthy. Even though I’ve complained about this nothing was done. I ended up joining NYSC for the same amount of $ but I get access to many locations with saunas and one includes a pool, message chairs, towels and don’t have to share the pool or gym with kids.

The 14th Street Y is a place where you can go and hang out. It has a fitness center, basketball court, swimming pool, male and female locker rooms, sauna and you can even take a few fitness classes. Another great thing about this place is you can bring your kids to learn how to swim. I think they also have day care. It's reasonably priced and you get what you pay for.
