I've been going to CFUS for 6 years. The programming and some of the coaches are top notch. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the rest of the gym. The space is small and gets overcrowded, and the waitlist is often 10+ people deep. Membership increases every year, and some members pay less than others. Management does not value its members, especially the female ones. I recently broke my leg and they required me to pay the full $300. It’s disappointing that the owners have become less focused on members and more focused on profits.

CFUS is the most expensive gym in the city, and prices continually go up without warning. Instead of giving cues during the wod, instructors mindlessly walk around, barely paying attention. Members have severely injured themselves. There are long wait lists to get into class.  There is visible mold in parts of the gym.

I truly have no idea how CrossFit Union Square has this many positive reviews. At CFUS everyone there is a too cool for anyone type of gym with a drink the kool-aid atmosphere and community. People only care about themselves including a few of the coaches (not Daniel or Patrick). If you're in the cool kids group, you're welcomed. If not, enjoy being barely taught, legitimately laughed at, and literally ridiculed for any mistakes in form or how the gym works. I was actually asked after trying to learn about a hero workout "if I actually believed I was even close to that level to complete let alone finish" in a laughed and scoffing way. Another time after signing up for my first ever CrossFit Open, halfway through the workout for time, I was told all my reps wouldn't be counted as I was doing my toestobar from the wrong side of the bar (never had been done that way once in workouts at the gym). All together, this gym and the coaches besides the few ones mentioned before, single-handedly ruined the entire sport for me completely. I left every single day feeling MUCH WORSE after an hour grueling workout with only negativity. I could not possibly imagine ever recommending this place nor wish anyone to be a part of CFUS again.

Amazing place to workout! We did two drop-ins during our stay in NY. The coaches were really welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. All members were really open and friendly. Class programming is clever as well as fun. Would definitley recommend to go here! Little heads-up: we payed 40$ for a drop-in which is on the higher end of the price range I experienced in the US.

I dropped into CrossFit Union Square three times this week while I was in town for work and really enjoyed it. To start, Coach Daniel was extremely responsive and went above and beyond to set me up for the week and Coach Patrick was great running a big class. The owner Ross is laidback and both he and the community are really welcoming. Recommend dropping in/checking out this gym for a good sweat and fun!

An absolutely world-class CrossFit gym. The programming is incredibly thoughtful and well-done. While the workouts are challenging, all of the coaches are warm and friendly and will happily help members scale as needed. The leadership team cares deeply about member experience and has done a terrific job navigating the challenges posed by COVID. Finally, the community is fantastic; members often hang out outside of the gym, and everyone is very welcoming.

One of the best gym on Manhattan. It has great and scientific programming. I enjoy WOD as regular CrossFit workout ( I love how Patrick explain every whiteboard very clearly). And for someone who needs a great improvement and practice on barbell like me, they have special barbell class (Thanks Ross Amanda for the very detailed coaching). Also you have Bodybuilding by the one and only Coach Chris, who’s WOD class is also amazing. Besides that, I think it’s a very friendly group overall. All members seem have to know each other for a long time and are good friends. I am new and little bit intimated at first, but I am glad I can found my spot here.

Let me start by saying this, I'm a huge group fitness gal. From hot yoga at Equinox to speed dating interval class, you name it I've done it. So when I say Crossfit Union Square is hands down the best gym I've been to (and I'm not even that good at crossfit), y'all gotta believe me. The programming is top notch, suitable for all fitness level. The coaches are incredibly helpful and friendly, who are always down to give scaling options for even help you out after class with extra accessory work. But the best part of it is definitely the community - Everyone's extremely dedicated and hardworking during the week, and have fun on the weekend. I've made some life long friends here for sure! CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH

I'm a long time CrossFitter (8 years now, sheesh) who recently switched home gyms to CrossFit Union Square. I couldn't be happier. The programming is amazing (and amazingly hard, but in a great way that inspires me, and the coaches always help me with scaling); the members are committed and kind and welcoming and clearly a community; the coaches are friendly and inspirational and give the very best and most nuanced cues and somehow have learned my name already. It is a CrossFit gym that still loves CrossFit, if that makes sense. I dislike change, in general, as a human being. But I'm utterly delighted with my decision to join the team and my new friends at CrossFit Union Square.

CrossFit Union Square is truly the best gym in the city. Dropping in elsewhere always makes me appreciate how great the staff and programming are. The coaches at cfus actually pay attention, know how to organize a class, and teach beginners in a safe, mindful way. The workouts programmed are great because they can be scaled up / down for every single person. Honestly cannot compare cfus to any other gym, they are in their own league

One WOD down and I hope many more to go. Really nice spot! I look forward to being part of the community.

I'm new to this gym but I like it a lot. All of the coaches are super knowledgeable and they pay attention to you. The equipment all looks new or well taken care of. The barbells are all shiny and spin well for example. The programming is top notch. It pushes me right to the level I like and the exercises are diverse yet helpful for the core lifts. All around, I'm happy here.

I've just found this gym. Haven't done CrossFit in a while and wanted to get back to it. Great environment, people, and vibes! Great workouts! I am very enthusiastic. Highly recommended.

Friendly members who have built a really meaningful community. Coaches who care about your success AND your form / performance. Classic and mindful crossfit programming. Can't really ask for more than that.

Dropped in twice during our stay in New York and the coaching was world class. Chris and Ross were coaching our classes and they did a very good job! They have really cool programming and the community is awesome too!

Went to my first CrossFit session here! The space is really great and well equipped and the instructor/community was very encouraging. I had a great time with the challenging workout and will hope to come back again some time!

I decided to get back into working out again and did a drop in class at CFUS. For all the first timers, their entrance is on Bond St down the stairs. Well it must be fate because the minute I walk down those stairs I saw coach Amanda, who was one of my favorite coaches from my previous box! However for today’s WOD it was coach Patrick and he was awesome! He did a really good warm up (which I need) and his instructions were impeccable. He made sure we were doing every move correctly and when I approached him about a movement he gave me great tips and a modified version so that I can still participate in the WOD. What’s more, the members there were so friendly and kind. The added bonus was they have open gym after my WOD was over so you can stay and practice whatever you want. I LOVE this place!!!! It’s my new home ❤️

This place has really helped get me into great shape. Pros include location, intensity of workouts, diversity of programming, coaches who are a great mix of motivation and solid teachings. I joined after only 3 months of Crossfit experience, and I have learned a lot and been pushed hard. Space, as in many instances in Manhattan, is limited, so peak hours require advance sign ups. The members are a mix of novices and very, very, very serious athletes/members, but most are kind, helpful, and non-intimidating. Highly recommend for drop-ins (which I did several times before joining).

The programming here is absolutely unmatched! All of the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and invested in your progression as an athlete. Multiple class offerings such as barbell club, bodybuilding, and gymnastics gives members the opportunity to work on other skills and sports in addition to Crossfit. Another aspect that makes this gym so special is how inclusive it is. No matter how you identify or where you come from, you are welcome and celebrated in this space. I have been a member for nearly three years and have had an exceptional experience thus far. I highly recommend for anyone looking to try Crossfit for the first time or experienced with the sport.
