10PNYC might be hard to find (no signs outside), but you'll be glad you did. Rey and Cece are great people and top notch instructors. All the students I met were very friendly and fun to train with. When I'm in NYC, this will be where I train Jiu Jitsu.

NYC itself is almost oversaturated with Jiu-Jitsu academies, so while you'll have no trouble finding a school to train at, there are almost none as welcoming as 10th Planet NYC. Given the crazy pedigrees of the larger schools, it can be intimidating for a beginner. However, Rey and Cece have gone out of their way to establish a great culture that promotes growth in a friendly way. Everyone at the gym, regardless of rank, is dedicated to helping each other grow as martial artists , so you'll see more experienced members help with technique while newer members even help first-timers get acclimated. Rey and Cece even welcome people from other academies without question and even encourage others to visit in order to promote growth as martial artists. If you're visiting, it's definitely worth dropping in and if you're interested in Jiu-Jitsu, it's one of the best places to learn!

If you're looking to start NOGI BJJ look no further than 10p NYC! A warm, welcoming environment taught by some of the best and brightest in the game! Cece and Rey have created an amazing space where beginners like myself (with 0 BJJ experience) can learn comfortably and at my own pace. The other members of the gym are some of the nicest, most welcoming people and are happy to help newbies out - 10/10 would recommend to a friend!

The instructor was great — he covered details on passing against seated vs supine guard, side control escapes, and sweeps from butterfly. Overall good vibes, I will definitely be coming back out here again

I got a chance to visit 10th planet NYC and I found it to be very open and welcoming. Rey did a great job making sure I was comfortable! Instructions were clear and there was ample time at the end of class to roll. The other students were also very kind and helpful. Great vibe at 10P NYC! Thank you Professor De Leon!

I’m from out of town. Dropped in last night for an EBI class and had an amazing time. Everyone was welcoming and friendly but also game and talented and Professor Rey was an excellent instructor. The perfect recipe for a great experience. Highly recommend this gym and will be back some day

I know of 10th planet because of their Jiu jitsu, but it is their mma and boxing classes that made me join. An experienced Jiu jitsu bud told me to find a jiu jitsu school that had mma to make my jiu jitsu complete. I’ve been to a few boxing gyms and they honestly have some of the best boxing classes I’ve ever had because they actually have live sparring and make sure students get use to contact. The mma classes help you integrate stand up fighting into your Jiu jitsu, which is necessary and simulate real combat. Their BJJ is technical, and tough. Much more chill than I would have expected considering it is affiliated with Eddie Bravo... LOL

Peerless Private Lesson: I have taken bjj lessons with five other instructors. Rey made a statement before showing me an alternative to the move I was about to perform, he said "this may or may not help you." Mind opening is how I would describe the experience. I came with my own agenda which entailed 15 drills + 3 moves. The private was for two hours, I ended it when we finished in 1 hour 58 minutes and 20 seconds...

Came in from out of town, Coach Rey was super nice and showed great technique. The vibes at the gym are amazing people laughing and having fun but also the level is high! Had some great rolls Would recommend 100%

Begin your BJJ journey with a private lesson with Coach Rey. My first lesson began with a detailed conversation about my experiences and biggest challenges I had faced in training, and he tailored the session exactly to my specific needs, guiding me patiently through the finer points of the techniques and where they fit in the big picture. You get a lot from the excellent group classes at 10th Planet NYC too, but the amount you learn in a private lesson will surprise you. Thank you so much to Coach Rey and the whole team!

What can I say about 10th P. I have nothing but positive and great things to say about the training, sparring, culture, atmosphere, and so much more. I came to this place when I left my my first school. I love the varied classes and demonstrations that Cece and Sting Rey provide. Seminars also happen here constantly so it's great to always great insights from others. As well, the instructors have no problem and encourage us to cross train which many schools forbid which is really dumb. I highly recommend that if you're looking to start your BJJ training, whether you're trying to lose weight, start competing or whatever goals are, 10th P is honestly the best school in NYC to start it in.

Great price value ratio. Good location. Small groups. Friendly atmosphere. Some of the teachers take extra time and effort to finish the lesson as they intended to - there is no strict 60min lesson rule.

Great training while I was visiting NYC, Rey and all the staff were incredibly welcoming and flexible in regards to my time in the city. Can't recommend them enough.

I haven't started so long ago (6-7 months) but I have learned a bunch, there's great coaches that teach you to detail but manage to make it simple to learn, also the whole gym acts very friendly, there's not one person who's not nice. There's also classes every day of the week, there's a lot of different such as boxing, jiu jitsu, wrestling, etc which are all beneficial and keep you healthy.

Friendly environment that provides Nogi jiujitsu, boxing and mma for all levels. Instructors are enthusiastic and are always willing to take the extra step to help students grasp concepts being taught.

Jiu Jitsu is a personal journey. You want to learn valuable and real world applicable techniques, show up to a class. You’ll find out who you are. Rey and Cece learned directly under Eddie Bravo what more could you ask for. They’re as battle tested and knowledgable as instructors come in the sport.

I was visiting from Dubai and Ray and Cece made me feel very welcome, they had just had brand new mats installed which made for a great space, you can pay for a drop in class for which I stayed for 3hrs, great warm up drills, then technique and finished with rolling. Fun times. Great people on the mat, I will def visit again

Rey and Cece are the best. NYC needed them. Plain and simple. They’re creating killers in concrete jungle. They have this welcoming environment where the moment you step in on your first day, you’re already signing up. Their attention to detail while teaching is excellent. They make sure you understand what you’re being taught. Nothing but great vibes over at 10PNYC.

I’ve spent about 5 years training jiu jitsu at various gyms around the country before coming to train here after a several year break and this is by far the best gym I’ve ever trained at. I always found training in the gi to be slow and boring for my tastes which has made it difficult to find a gym that prioritizes the style of jiu jitsu that i wanted to train. The coaches, depth of instruction, and level skill amongst the students here is second to none I’ve ever experienced. Coaches Rey and Cece are great at breaking down the details of techniques in ways that are accessible for students of any level of experience. They’re also two of the most down to earth and humble I’ve met. This gym is perfect for those wanting to level up their skills, train for competition, start a new hobby with a great community atmosphere or anything in between.

10th Planet NYC has helped me throughout my entire jiu jitsu journey from the beginning and has helped me & still is to become a better jiu jitsu player with every great technique the instructors teach, the instructors also have great experience and knowledge on what to teach when it comes to what has worked on the competition mats as well & what could be useful. Great people, great energy, and you would be in great hands if you step foot in 10th Planet NYC getting taught by the best. ~ 10pNYC4Lyfe

55 year old traditional gi black belt who is now sort of obsessed with 10P — I take a private with Rey whenever I’m in NYC. Rey is a fantastic coach who customizes his instruction to match my game and maximize my ability to hit nogi subs, sweeps, passes etc despite less than ideal flexibility. Super cool guy and the gym has a great vibe, very clean, very welcoming. Highly recommended. Paul Geller

You can't find a better place to learn BJJ and build an amazing relationship with the other memebers and professor. Rey and CeCe do a phenomenal job keeping the culture strong and respectful. Would recommend coming here first to learn in a friendly and competitive environment.
