Small pathway with the best views of NYC and the Verrazano Narrows bridge. Few benches for sitting and connects to nearby Alice Austen house . Would not recommend the walking on the “beach area “ as it is nothing more than logs and debris . Decent fishing at high tide and when waters are choppy.

Buono Beach was named after Matthew "Giggy" Buono, a South Beach resident and graduate of New Dorp High School who died in the Vietnam War. Prior to its renaming in 1988, Buono Beach was called Penny Beach. Although the origin of that name is unknown, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation surmises that the beach was named for either the original name of Hylan Boulevard (Pennsylvania Avenue), or because the beach was once a "lovers' lane" where couples would toss coins into the harbor while making wishes.[2] The park was damaged by Superstorm Sandy in 2012, and a large section of the park along Edgewater Street was closed for several years due to damage,[3] but it reopened in 2016. This is Penny Beach. That's what the old timers called it. That's what I remember as a kid before the gov't put signs up.

Right next to the Alice Austin House. Very small beach, but hold great memorial to the Vet's of our past wars. There is a flag post in the center and a wall with soldiers names etched into it, that served in the War's r related to the memorial. (Off the top of my head idk,& I would hate to be wrong). It's very rock filled, mainly for the sight of the city and the ocean. Walk your dogs..etc.. Very calming place!

Simple block long water front to have a smoke and a snack while sitting on either of the 5 benches and watching shipping containers pass by and the lower end of Manhattan skyline.

Stopped there killing time from Newark airport. Should have looked into a little better I guess You have maybe 150 yards of rocks not a beach. Garbage washed up goose droppings everywhere

It's good for meditation, but Fountain is not working since Sandy. Soon this will be closed for repairs.
