This place is truly a reflection of those who come there. It’s a beautiful place itself but it’s so so dirty and disgusting. People leave trash wherever they want including glass, alcohol bottles and plastic. Kids play with sand but the same time some other families bring their dogs and cars to do their business in this very same sand… they don’t curb after their pets and since when dogs are allowed at the beach. Really and truly big disappointment. Which example you people set for the future generations. No wander there are so many rats running all over that beach and area.

Our go-to place when we need to be reminded that we actually live in an island and are only a half-hour bike ride from the nearest beach. It's open all year round but swimming is only allowed during the summer months. It's not our preferred beach, though, given its relative proximity to the city's industrial waterways. We take the longer trek to Jacob Riis Beach in the Rockaways if we want to take a dip. A few things to note: There's not a lot of amenities outside peak season. Social distancing isn't usually a problem, but the noticeable number of mask-less people is a bit concerning.

Great destination, after a 12 mile walk. Amazing scenery.

Large sands areas. Water is warm and mostly cleaner.

One of the best beaches in NYC by all means the water color isn't great but clean enough. People are friendly and don't really disturb their neighbors besides loud music sometimes when people are just there to relax and hear the waves hitting sand. It's pretty well frequented, meaning families and well behaved people. I recommend!

Clean and spacious. People are friendly and neighborhood is great. No shark sightings a plus. Waves are decent but could do better.

It’s a cute beach but the sand is literally filled with glass from broken bottles. Not sea glass - sharp bottle glass. Starts from the boardwalk down to the water. No clue how this is even a thing. It’s everywhere. Every 5 steps glass. Cute beach but a bit of dealbreaker lol

Accessible but rarely crazy busy beach like neighboring Coney Island. Great on a not-quite-perfect beach weather day, you can paddle and watch the hardy Russians swim back and forth. The biggest drawback is the amount of trash on the sand most days.

Very nice beach... But parking is really hard to find unless you're lucky or go very early. They do have a parking lot.. But even that gets full after 10am
