We spent the afternoon here. The beach is wide and clean and not crowded at all. Lots of lifeguards. The boardwalk offers a great place for walking, lots of playgrounds for the kids. Ice cream truck! Bathrooms were very clean.

This boardwalk, Ocean Breeze Pier, the Midland Beach promenade section, and all of the beach, are all amazing! It's peaceful, never too crowded, the views are awesome, and it's near the S51 and S52 buses from the Staten Island Ferry. You can also take the S79 or S53 from Bayridge in Brooklyn, and it's not a long walk from Hylan Boulevard. If you're looking for a beach getaway I highly recommend it! Yes, Coney Island and Rockaway Beach are good, but this place is an oasis away from the chaos of New York City without having to leave the city.

I have 3 kids, one in a wheelchair with no wheelchair mat or beach wheelchairs rental it was very hard to make her walk on the sand or even to carry her up when she sat down. I felt so helpless and not even one person offered to help.

Great place for having family time with barbecue and the beach. There is a small playground for kids, clean beach and good clean grills nex to tables. The big parking lot is provided as well. We met a friendly staff there.

Lots of people around doing their walking on the boardwalk there's a housing project in South Beach so lots of that element there so be careful you can get sucker punched as you're walking by one of them.

I’m in love with this beach. It’s so clean!! The bathrooms are near by and we always have bbqs!! They have an area for the bbq and the smell of the sea air is a plus. It’s great for the family and it’s in a quiet neighborhood. If I can give 10 stars I would.

Feel relaxed, no cost to swim at beaches, a lot activities and play grounds, flat level, good for long walks, running, biking,... Triathlon maybe. Sands are renewed. Just the water is not that clear since it is too close to big city. Good for nearby neighbors and New Yorkers.

Been walking that boardwalk in one way or another for 50 plus yrs it's the only place on the island that makes it feel like an island.

Like the long walk on West Street down the west side highway in Manhattan, Staten Island too has put effort into creating spaces for people, not just cars, bringing back nature and humanity to city living.

South Beach and Midland Beach are a good alternative if you don't feel like sitting in traffic on the way to the Jersey Shore. Plenty of parking all over.

You would think the beaches would be terrible, hut they are actually OK around here. There is tons of space and fields and playgrounds. One of my favorite summer spots.

Beautiful breeze off the ocean even in the hot weather. The park is a great place to sit on one of the many benches and relax by yourself or go on the walking/bike trail and get some exercise.

It's ok. Nothing special, beautiful or particularly standish out. Kind of similar to Brighton Breach/Coney Island boardwalk with less options for snack and dining. Some new parking that was built recently doesn't make sense as you cannot easily get to the boardwalk or beach from it. Bottom line, if you are already in Staten Island and have hour or more to spare, you may visit it. Would not recommend to go there specifically to visit that boardwalk or beach.
