Excellent clergy, musicians and chorus combine for an uplifting spiritual service enhanced by wonderful music. Some of the sermons deal with important social issues. However overall an "incomplete" rating because they periodically intentionally omit the followon prayers (Vahavtah and Lmaan Tizkru) to the Shma prayer which they consider two lines. These integrate with the Shma and are among the most important prayers of the service and only require 1 minute. Examples of omission are when they have baby naming or aufruf ceremonies. Yet they do not curtail other prayers, sermons or even schmoozing.

This synagogue is beautiful and historic. The Rabbi is an excellent speaker. I had chills from the incredible music. Someone told me they use professional musicians. I can believe it. The music was sublime!

Attending Shabbat services for over 16 years enjoying every service in the gorgeous sanctuary. The clergy are friendly to all. If itโ€™s your first time the clergy welcomes you. The cantors voices are magnificent. Music is a potent part of praying enhanced with musical instruments. The melodies are familiar around the world, but unannounced a song or prayer is refreshed with a new melody and/or arrangement. The cantors seem to know when to introduce an original composition the congregants are always eager to learn. Services are broadcast live on JBS TV, and on Facebook and YouTube. The sermons are from the biblical text, the weekly Torah portion, and have a contemporary message if possible.

We watch Shabbat service on JBS. So thankful as we cannot get to a Synagogue due to limited mobility. Shalom from IL.

I attended a Friday evening Shabbat service. Rabbi Buchdahl is inspirational and warmly welcoming. There was a Yahrzeit that evening for a dear friend among others who passed away. Security was extremely tight due to recent events in Israel and Gaza, but this did not dampen the warmth of the service. I hope to accompany the friend who invited me again. We were fortunate to find seats. There was standing room only.

This community of worshippers, rabbis, cantors, and the many others makes the place feel abundant with love. I feel so accepted and loved when I attend. From the great architecture and structure. To the friendly and kind members. I truly love the environment.

What a professional place this is.. The only person that picks up the line is the receptionist.. If you dial the clergy, they won't answer, and if you send them an email, they won't reply to it..

Watched the high holidays virtually (from Boston area) and was tremendously impressed at the quality of the clergy and all staff who contributed to the beauty of the services. We hope to travel to NYC sometime this fall for Shabbat services in person!

As a livestreamer, my life has been enriched by Central. I've learned about holidays, and special days and events. I joined the neighborhood and it's great. Central Synagogue has given me the religious foundation I've needed for a long time. I've never met any of the Rabbis, yet I feel a connection to them. I've been livestreaming and participating in Friday night and Saturday services since 2018.

I didn't take off my bathrobe all day. Yes, the temple is gorgeous as I go occasionally but watching the Yom Kippur services from there is fabulous. I Googled Angela Buchdahl, main rabbi. She was Skull & Bones at Yale...........quite amazing for a South Korean girl married to a Jewish boy. Me, Im a Columbia ZBT almost 80 years of age and many of my friends were sitting in the room. Me, at home on the couch SIMPLY LOVING IT. I kept thinking how Peter Rubenstein was smiling watching all he built was taken to the next level by the rabbi he brought from Westchester as a cantor and who followed him here at Central Syngaogue.......................BRAVO. My guess is that it will be the most world reknowned reformed synagogue.

One of the old Reform NY Synagogues. Very beautiful and yet understated. Very welcoming. We had a tour with a lot of the historical background. Looks like a wonderful place to do Kabalat Shabat or join a Shabat service. They also stream services.

It's a friendly Jewish Synagogue, just right in the middle of uptown NYC, which is an excellent location. They welcome everyone who wants to attend the service, feasts, etc.

I lived near Central Synagogue andI went once. Now I live in South Carolina and watch as many services that I can. Rabbi Buchenwald inspires me every day. She would make an incredible cantor, therapistโ€”really anything. She chose to become a rabbi and my life has been amazingly enriched. I am not a religious person; have major problems believing inโ€ฆ..But I am Jewish to the core and Rabbi Buchenwald helped me to understand that there is place for people like me in synagogues.

a great place to pray. Super warm and friendly with a Moroccan vibe. Very liberal and could live without the political agenda sometimes, but i love that they stream their services and when in person, it is such a wonderful experience with the music and variations of instruments. The rabbis are fantastic and i look forward to their shabbos services when in town.

We have watched Central Synagogue on streaming. Beautiful synagogue, Rabbis and Cantors are warm and welcoming. Reform is not my particular level of observance but I enjoy their services and the synagogue does a great job of instilling Jewish ืจื•ึผื—ึท to its members and viewers. ื›ืœ ื”ื›ื‘ื•ื“

I have heard Senior Rabbi Angela Buchdahls preaching on you tube on: " The third opinion: Why Jews Value Dissent." It was very very very good a Brilliant Teaching indeed. Mazel Tov from Folke Holtz member in the Jewish community in Stockholm Sweden.

I just finished watching the Kol Nidre live stream service. It was outstanding! I felt as if I were there in person. Undoubtedly the best Iโ€™ve ever attended. I feel blessed to be able to join your virtual congregation.
