Community-oriented park with lots of events. There are CITI bikes around so you can start riding here and hang out in the neighborhood. The park has rest rooms and nice sitting areas. It is also clean.

Nice park with lots of playground space and places for dogs to roam. Small outdoor gym area and some sport courts for things like handball. About a half mile in perimeter length, so reasonable for walking or jogging around, and it's all flat with no hills. City bike accessible with a small station at the northwest corner. Theres also a small amphitheater that's nice for the occasional event.

Had a great time here on Friday a very clean clean park and the grass is nice and well maintained. A breath of fresh air for a Bedstuy brooklyn park. Also apparently you can’t drink in the park so be mindful and hide your bottles saw police trolling ppl with open containers.

Place is pretty awesome. Dog park, basketball, tennis, baseball, amphitheater, kids playground the works. It’s clean, families are ALWAYS there hanging out. Plenty of good people and great dogs. It’s safe, pretty flowers; looking for a great place to take the kids? Go here.

It was a pleasant walk thru the park today. There was a group of worship & praise to the LORD. The dog run was full and those dogs were so happy! You can hear the children’s laughter in the playground! Summer is almost here! Great place to be out and about on a sunny day!

They recently spruced up the amphitheatre! The park could be cleaner but I think with Parks Dept budget cuts, it is an ongoing issue in most city parks.

It was my 1st spot to visit when I walked around Brooklyn with my son. We sat & drank coffee while catching up. The place was full of couples, families, dogs. There was a play area & a wide open field with balls & Frisbees being thrown. I was honestly amazed, because you never see THAT side of Brooklyn, or NY. It was a very nice surprise!

Lovely park, lovely people, but the off-leash dog people are out of control! I say this as a crazy Dog Mom with a rescue pitbull that I keep on a leash at all times. There’s a great gated dog park (both small and large dog areas), so it sucks that people take over the big lawn area with loose pups. We gotta work on our park manners, y’all! Two playgrounds keep it kid-friendly, an open theater, and a baseball field that’s closed off during winter. Let’s keep it clean and keep it leashed!

This park could be so nice but it’s constantly noisy. Feeling really grateful for the staff trying to keep it clean after a herd of careless people trash it every weekend. People grill and drop their ashes everywhere, drive their cars into the park and park them on the lawns with actual trailers. The worst part is the constant noise. Insanely loud and really terrible music starting at 3pm on weekdays. Forget about weekends. How can people play music so loud the kids in the playground are obviously going to have some earring loss from it. Sometimes there are multiple sources of deafening music within a tiny perimeter. This is absurd. I wish someone measured sound volume and enforced reasonable regulations. Your balloons are very cute during your birthdays but less so when you just leave all of your trash on the side of the park. Again, so grateful for the staff courageously managing to clean it up after each storm of BS. This place could be so nice but it’s just fair game for anyone to make their own playground without any regard for the rest of the neighborhood. BedStuy I love you but if you could just chill on the decibels sometimes that would be amazing.

Park was great but sometimes groups of guys dominate the workout space. The grass area is cool but has a lot of random trash and the grass has a lot of empty twiggy spots. Homeless sleeping in the benches also. Despite this I would 100% go back. I felt safe and after we found a spot that wasnt too crowded it was all good.

And they have everything from a dog walking to basketball volleyball and even handball courts. Good family park even for the dog. Activities have continued to ramp up for everyone. This is truly a community park in the heart of Brooklyn. The grand opening of the fully renovated Herbert Von King Auditorium is officially here October 21, 2022 with Baba Neil performing on stage. Grand opening weekend with "Family day" happened Saturday, October 22, 2022. It was a pleasure being a part of the renovation team installing the new sound reinforcement system.

The atmosphere is way better than it was back in the day. I would say the park needs more lighting and/or brighter lighting throughout the park. Especially in the bathroom area and the playground. There's some lighting near the bathroom but it needs to be brighter. In the playground there is no lighting at all once night falls, the playground is pitch black. The picnic areas should be cleaned more often.

Herbert von King Park, is a true gem for both residents and visitors alike. Spanning a generous area, this park offers a plethora of amenities that cater to a wide range of interests and needs. First and foremost, the dog park is a standout feature. Divided into areas for both big and small dogs, it provides a safe and enjoyable environment for our furry friends to run, play, and socialize. Dog owners will appreciate the thoughtful design, allowing them to relax while their pets have a blast. The great lawn is another highlight of Herbert von King Park. It's a perfect spot to lay out a blanket, enjoy a picnic, or simply bask in the sun. The lush greenery and well-maintained grounds create a serene atmosphere that invites relaxation and leisurely strolls. For those looking for more structured activities, the park doesn't disappoint. The basketball court is well-equipped and often bustling with players. Nearby, the jungle gym offers endless fun for children, while the full baseball field caters to sports enthusiasts of all ages. Convenience is also a strong suit of Herbert von King Park. Public bathrooms are clean and accessible, and the grilling areas are perfect for family gatherings or community events. The shaded tables under the trees provide a cool respite on hot days, making them ideal for outdoor meals or reading a good book. However, if you live in the neighborhood, you probably already know all this.

One of the best smaller sized public parks I've been to, and as a New Yorker, we're talking about everything from events to cleanliness. A full city block, with lots of benches, a valid kids playground, and even amphitheater/stage. Absolute best for summer events and/or your pooches (or any other animals for that matter). Never ending construction (iykyk...😮‍💨) is blocking the view through to the other side of the park and that knocked off a star. But still, go and enjoy!

I'm lucky to live just a few minutes' walk from this park. It's a decent size, tree-filled, with lots of different areas/sections, plenty of benches, and tons of grassy plots for people to lay a blanket out and chill with friends or solo. It gets VERY busy and PACKED on the weekends and late afternoons/evenings, but one would still be able to snag a spot to hang out (unless you're trying to snag a designated BBQ spot, those fill up early). Also on the weekends, there is commonly some type of event going on with loud music (if you're looking for 'peace and quiet' this may not be the time/place for you). There's a built-in amphitheater there so it's perfect for such events. The dog park is on the NE side of the park, and usually, there are dog water bowls by the fountains for your pups (hopefully they'll finish installing the fountains inside the actual dog park soon).

how does one even begin to rate a park? it’s a great park and perfect for the nabe, but at the same time WILL THEY EVER FINISH THE CONSTRUCTION?‽‽? there have been fenced and such up here FOR YEARS. it took but a year to build the empire state building and yet this park has been under some sort of construction for at least half a decade now. sheesh!

Had a great weekend at the Herbert Von King Park. It is very spacious with lots of areas for picnics and for large gatherings/celebrations of any kind. Separate grassy area to lay out on with your blankets or to do yoga. You can also enjoy local music and dancing. And even though there is an area for small/ large dogs, they don't just stay there, they roam all over with their humans. So if you're allergic or just don't like a lot of dogs, this is not the park for you to visit. The absolute worst part of the entire park are the restrooms. I felt like I was gonna catch a disease by walking in there. It's extremely filthy....the toilets, floors, sinks all beyond disgusting. Thankfully the park is kept up really good despite being very busy all the time.

The dedicated dog park section within Herbert Von King Park was a highlight. It allowed my dog to safely interact with other dogs off-leash, and the agility equipment added an extra layer of excitement to our visits.

A good place for a walk in the fresh air. There are a lot of greenery, paths for walking and benches for relaxing. There is also a playground in the park, which makes it an ideal place for families with children. I recommend Herbert Von King Park for pleasant walks.

Herbert Von King Park is a cherished urban escape in the heart of Brooklyn. It serves as a testament to the value of green spaces within the bustling city, providing a peaceful retreat for residents and visitors alike. The park's lush greenery, shaded pathways, and well-maintained gardens offer a serene environment for relaxation and leisure. It's an ideal spot for picnics, outdoor workouts, or simply unwinding amidst nature. The well-placed benches and quiet corners invite contemplation and reflection. Visiting Herbert Von King Park with my furry friend was an absolute delight. This urban oasis provides a welcoming and pet-friendly environment that both dogs and their owners can appreciate. The dedicated dog park section within Herbert Von King Park was a highlight. It allowed my dog to safely interact with other dogs off-leash, and the agility equipment added an extra layer of excitement to our visits. The park's cleanliness was also commendable, with numerous waste disposal stations that made it easy to clean up after our pets and maintain a pristine environment for all visitors. Overall, Herbert Von King Park is not just a place for leisure; it's a community hub where dog owners can come together, exercise their pets, and enjoy the outdoors in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. It's a valuable asset to the neighborhood and a must-visit for anyone with a canine companion. 🐕🌳🐾

The rules at this place are extremely inconsistent. It really depends on the moods of the rangers on duty. Sometimes there will be 10 dogs off leash playing in the main area, sometimes no dogs are allowed anywhere even if the park is empty.

Great place to dance, skate, lounge/picnic in nature, walk your pets (dog, cat, puppy, turtle, etc). Wonderful events in summertime. I even got COVID tested here some time back.

I love this park. Great people watching, a playground for kids, a performance space that’s really nicely done, lots of open grass, gorgeous trees, and a group of old heads who congregate around the storage containers and play disco regularly.

Great looking park with ample space and a sense of community that draws you right in. If you go on the right day you’ll see any number of events going on. Also has a nice cultural arts center right in the middle.

I participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness Event. I was so happy to see the renovations that were done in the park, especially the amphitheater. Thanks to Commissioner Laurie Cumbo! However, I did not know that a large section of the park has now been overtaken by dogs and their owners. The field where I once took my students to play and enjoy physical activities is now a pooch patch! SMH😟

one time a lady shouted "beep beep!" at me and my friend Matt here before riding her bike past us, then stopped and said "beep beep is like excuse me" like we were the most contemptible morons in the universe. aside from that it's a great park.

This park was a huge part of my childhood. A lot of great memories was made here. Every part of this park; bike riding, the playground areas, the concerts, picnics, baseball, summer youth and just hanging out with friends. This park or as we called it, "Tompkins Park" was great when I was growing up,, Memories 😇 It still looked pleasant when I passed through here recently.

Great place to take a stroll or have an event. Has nice dog run where there is a separation for small dogs and also a section for all dogs to socialize. Year round pollinator area where you can watch pollinators busy in a patch of native plant species.nice varieties of trees and shrubs. The grass is a bit patchy this year due to the poor rainfall but there are still pet restrictive areas where you can sit on the grass...have a picnic...or just get some sun. There are nice play areas for kids of all ages. Nice large theater/amphitheater.

This park has become an all-time dog park with dogs off-leash everywhere anytime of the day and day of the week. If you have a pup who doesn't get along with other dogs you won't be able to use this park since off-leash dogs will most likely come running to sniff your dog whether you like it or not, with oblivious inconsiderate owners not paying attention. So no grassy ground for your pup, only asphalt side walks outside of the park. Also if you're afraid of dogs you shouldn't use this park either. So it's really become a park for previledged inconsiderate dog owners now unfortunately who think they have a monopoly on this public space.

There are not enough space to do sports. Running roads or other paces are not enough for people who needs to do some sport. It has lots of green good environment and looks a bit dirty. People must be evade of not throw staff around.
