This restaurant is somewhat difficult to find. It's inside Le District at Brookfield, tucked away in a corner next to a grocery store area that has been closed down since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. You have to go through Le District to get to it; they don't let you through the grocery store. The dining experience was wonderful. The ambiance was very calm and quiet, which I personally prefer. The tasting course was tasty and well executed with only minor issues: - The portion of the first course -- caviar with bread -- was pretty large. I wished it to be smaller in portion so I can ease into the meal. - There were two desserts: one heavy and sweet, one light and acidic. I wished to finish with the acidic one. Maybe they could add a small separate palate cleansing course after the cheese course. Every dish was good but the quail for me was the highlight of the course. It was absolutely succulent, and everything on the plate worked together to pack flavors into each mouthful. The service was good but had some issues: - We couldn't finish much of the cheeses during the cheese course and wanted to take them home. They took them to the kitchen to pack. We had forgotten about it when we were leaving. They never brought out the cheeses or stopped us to wait. - Our table had two servers. Both were fine but one of them was more friendly than the other, and I wished the other one was just as so. At the end of the caviar course, the not-as-friendly server said "you're not going to finish the caviar?" in a disapproving tone. He probably didn't mean it but it just came off condescending. These were minor issues but I expected a more flawless service at a pricy, Michelin-starred restaurant. Despite these hiccups, the experience was positive. They change the menu frequently so I'm looking forward to what they come up with next!

Great service. Very very small and intimate. Maybe 8 tables at most for no more than say 20-30 people total in the restaurant. It really does feel like you’re in someone’s apartment.

My wife and I had an intimate wedding luncheon at L'Appart for family and close friends, and we are so happy we did! Chef Nico and his team provided us with an extraordinary fine dining experience. The attention to detail and the quality of preparation, presentation, and service made our day even more special. We will be celebrating our anniversary at L'Appart for sure. Our guests plan on going back, too!

This review is a bit overdue. Went here in November. Had the tasting menu with wine pairings. Absolutely an incredible meal. Food was so well executed, and even though the ingredients were all things that I have had before, the preparations were so innovative. The chef was also very pleasant and helped his sommelier when things were busy. I thought that was really cool of him. He and the servers were also so excellent and patient with my date who was being a bit overbearing with her opinions on wine. They were so nice and gracious.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at L'Appart and I must say, it was an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! Every aspect of the evening, from the ambiance to the chef's creations and the impeccable service, exceeded my highest expectations. The moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was transported to a world of elegance and sophistication. The ambiance was truly captivating - a perfect balance of modern and classic elements. The warm and inviting atmosphere, combined with beautiful lighting and tasteful decor, created an intimate setting that felt both luxurious and comfortable. Now, let's talk about the chef's culinary talents. Every dish that graced our table was a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with skill and creativity. The depth of flavors, the attention to detail, and the artistic presentation of each course were awe-inspiring. The menu showcased the finest ingredients, expertly combined to create a symphony of tastes that delighted the senses. It was evident that the chef poured their heart and soul into every dish, and their passion for culinary excellence shone through with each bite. Equally impressive was the service provided by the restaurant staff. Chase Whiteside is a prime example of excellence. The level of professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care shown to every guest was truly remarkable. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering expert recommendations and answering any questions with grace and enthusiasm. From the moment we were seated to the final farewell, we were treated like royalty. The seamless coordination and timing of each course demonstrated a well-coordinated team dedicated to ensuring a flawless dining experience. I am so grateful for the accommodation of menu for my vegan companion. I cannot emphasize enough how impressed I was with every aspect of my visit. It is evident that the team goes above and beyond to deliver an exceptional dining experience. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure, this restaurant offers an unparalleled experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression. Thank you to the entire team at L'Appart for creating such a remarkable evening. I look forward to returning and continuing to savor the extraordinary dining experiences you provide. - Colin Studwell

I planned a trip to NYC for my birthday weekend. Making reservations for one is not always easy, but Chef Nico called me himself and said I was more than welcome to dine alone and I'm glad I did. My over two hour dining experience was wonderful. Every course of the tasting menu made me close my eyes and hum. Treat yourself and pay a visit. Well worth it.

We decided to celebrate a special occasion at L'Appart while on our way to Greece. We chose this restaurant based off of the criteria of a location within walking distance of our hotel for the night as well as being a Michelin Star. When booking we noted that one of the guests was a pescatarian. We also left a note via email and when someone contacted us through text we also told them of the dietary restriction. Furthermore we called and left a voicemail because none of the other avenues seemed to be getting any reply back. We arrived very early to find the location and walk around the area. One must walk past all of the gorgeous harbor views around the district and indoors to a large set of side doors leading into a bar like area that appears abandoned. We dined on a Saturday night on the 27 May so you might expect things to be buzzing in NYC. Walking forward past this odd area one can see a hallway that is lined with bookshelves hoisting pantry staples. On the left, you find the door to the restaurant. Walk further and you enter a food court like corridor. I think we were expecting a more warm and comfortable pathway to what is presented as an apartment-like restaurant experience. Nevertheless, we entered. We received a sort of odd look when entering and that was a bit uncomfortable after the less than favorable transition into the establishment. We were asked if we had reservations and we were seated once we confirmed. To state that there was an odd palatable uncomfortable energy would be an understatement. Yet, we laughed it off and were ready for an experience. When we received an amuse-bouche, the server presented it as a welcome bite, as if we wouldn't understand the terminology. Immediately I asked if there was meat on the dish because I could see that there was and the service fumbled a bit. I kindly told them we made explicit requests for a pescatarian meal of one of the guests and they removed the dish. Calmly but eagerly the server approached the pass and whispered the mistake to the chef. Then without sort of apologizing but also sort of apologizing they tried to brush off the mistake and present the dish again. Very awkward and not the type of service one would expect from a meal that was $350+ a person and Michelin Star. Once the courses started to come out I wanted to know more about some of the components. As someone who has worked in professional kitchens for 9 years, I am intrigued by my craft. This is where the night personally got ruined for me. I asked playfully about how the chefs composed a potato component and the server suggested that I state what I thought they did. I explained and I could see him sort of pause. Pause both by the actually culinary equipment names that I knew and by how close I was to understanding the technique. He then allowed us to enjoy the course and went back to the pass to mock me. Let me remind you that this place is very small. We were 2 out of 6 people dining at the time and close to the kitchen so we can hear the conversation. They laughed about it and even mentioned the movie "The Menu". Disgraceful. To talk more about the food- we did enjoy most of the courses but there was some major downfalls. The amuse-bouche came with three components, one of which was a rehydrated and puffed pasta that was so chewie that it should never have been served. Trial or not. Maybe the humidity affected it or maybe the oil was too low when frying, either way it was a bumpy start to welcome guests. Along the path of the other courses there was a vast amount of salt used, primarily in the scallop dish. The Sunny Ridge cheese course was not a favorable cheese and we both felt it was a bit of a harsh transition. On the other hand, the veal tartar or my tuna tartar course was likely our favorite. The olive oil used was exceptional and we appreciated the freshness of the dish overall. I do wish the white asparagus course was substituted with truffle or something else since my companion had foie gras.

Amazing creations, impeccable service, very good wine list and a cozy atmosphere. I've tried a lot of Michelin star restaurant in NYC that, to my opinion, did not deserve their star. This one: make it all worth it. L'Appart was an incredible experience all dishes were perfectly prepared and very tasteful. The staff was welcoming and polite, taking the time to pay attention to every detail. I could describe each plates and their flavours but I would rather say: try it for yourself it's worth the experience!!! The maître d'hôte took the time to communicate with me to verify if any of the guest has allergy or food restriction (really appreciate that!!!) therefore I was delighted to try a different dish for my shrimp allergy.

Excellent end to end! Organized a company dinner last minute and ended up having the restaurant for ourselves with a custom 3-couse menu + wine. Food was above perfection and so was the service and private ambiance!

Phenomenal from start to finish. It has been almost 2 months since my visit and I still daydream about some of the dishes we had at L’Appart (the ramps gnocchi will go down as one of my lifetime favorite dishes). I eagerly wait for the new menu to be posted every month and can’t wait for an excuse to return! Perfect for a date night, special occasion, or just to treat yourself! Impeccable service and great wine!

I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened. In one word it is a gem. The creativity in the flavor profiles and the meticulous detail of the presentation of the food is just exquisite. The service is excellent as one can expect from such a restaurant but the staff here is seriously just the best. I love their exuberance and passion for food & wine. Definitely coming back soon!

One of the best meals I've had in my life. Phenomenal food, personalized and attentive service, and a unique atmosphere that makes you feel like you're home. We came here to celebrate a big event and they made us feel so special. L'Appart should have 2 michelin stars not 1. Thank you Chef and team!

L’Appart continues to be one of our favorite restaurants. We visit every 4-6 weeks when the menu changes. Every meal has been creative, perfectly executed and beyond delicious. In addition to wonderful food, the service is outstanding. The team at LAppart is extraordinary and they treat every guest like family.

Amazing experience! Well worthy of its Michelin star! Chef Nicolas was SO nice and the service was very attentive. All the dishes were on point; we particularly loved the asparagus, the sea bass, and the sweetbreads. Everyone loved the food, but on my end special thank you to the team for being extremely accommodating regarding my various food intolerances (gluten & onions!) essentially modifying the whole menu to create a version of the sauce that would be just as delicious and exciting as everyone else’s dining there.

I honestly don’t know how anyone could give anything less than 5 stars based on our experience. We did the tasting menu and the wine pairings. The flavor combinations were incredible and creative, flowing nicely. Creative enough to give some pleasant surprises without reaching too far and being desperate to be different. The service and entire staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Everything from service, food, atmosphere, etc were top notch. I would not be surprised to see the head chef and his staff earn another Michelin star in the future. Truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had across the USA and Europe.

Absolutely wonderful service and food. Chase, our server and master drink maker, provided perfect service. The chef came to our table and was eager for feedback. Overall, one of the best meals and evenings I have ever had. If you are in NYC and looking for an exceptional evening, L’Appart is the place to go.

Surprisingly underwhelming. Started and ended on a high note, but as others have noted, the courses in between were either bland, over-salted, or rubbery (scallop). Strangely, one dish presented was just an whole radish, which was more about presentation than technique, to be sure, but was still a bit odd for a $300+/pp meal. Location was strange too. In the mall, waterfront but no view, etc. I likely wouldn’t go back, even at 1/3 the price, and wouldn’t recommend to friends seeking a unique, delicious Michelin-level meal. Not sure sure if the quality has gone down overall or if it was an off-night, but sadly won’t be able to find out.

If I could give it six stars, I would. I think this is the best restaurant and best overall dining experience. Everything that was prepared for us was just so delicious to taste and the presentation was perfect. Amazing job by Chef Nico and his staff! Thank you for a fantastic evening.

We had an incredible experience here celebrating our anniversary. Easily the best service and meal we've ever had. The courses flowed together so well and the wine pairings were flawless. How awesome it was to have such a great team of people serve you in such an intimate environment!

We had an amazing evening there. The tasting menu with wine pairing is perfection, every plate was excellent and the wine they suggest brings out flavors remarkably. Every plate makes you think the next one cannot be as good... But it is! Also the cheese plate was incredible. I could go on and on. Finally the service was very enjoyable, they made sure we had the best evening possible. They deserve 6 stars.

Though it's better described as "finely crafted disappointment," they nevertheless call it "fine dining." The serving sizes were ridiculously little.
