The
company
adds
no
value,
and
does
a
bait
and
switch
(at
least
in
the
Philly
operations).
They
provide
NO
food
on
their
tour!
The
guide
Avril
was
a
5/5.
This
review
is
not
about
the
guide.
TopDogTours
charges
$35/person,
and
what
value
do
they
add?
They
pay
a
guide
$15-20/hour
maybe
to
spend
2
hours
with
the
group,
maintains
a
website
that
lies
about
the
offerings,
never
replies
emails
(I
sent
2),
and
happily
pockets
all
the
$
with
zero
customer
support
or
effort.
You
would
be
better
off
finding
a
private
guide
and
supporting
them
directly
than
this
company.
On
their
website
w/GoCity,
it
says:
"Try
a
Philly
cheesesteak
and
sample
other
local
classics."
and
"And
if
that
isn't
enough,
you'll
sample
other
classics,
like
fresh
pretzels,
Whoopi
pies
and
a
local-favorite
Wawa
Hoagie
as
you
stroll
through
the
streets
of
this
culinary
city."
But
guess
what,
their
order
confirmation
on
the
bottom
fine
print
says
"Is
food
provided
by
the
tour?
The
short
answer
is
No.
The
reason
for
that
is
because
so
many
people
have
food
allergies,
restrictions,
beliefs
or
other
factors
that
make
providing
pre-ordered
food
options
extremely
difficult."
Very
easy
to
miss.
Why
then,
does
their
description
talk
about
sample
after
sample?
I'll
let
you
decide
if
that's
deceptive
advertising.
Our
group
of
4
(I
took
my
students
as
a
treat
and
they
were
shocked
at
the
TopDogTours
policy)
spent
$76.65
on
food
(and
we
gave
the
wonderful
guide
a
well-deserved
$20
tip),
so
be
prepared
to
actually
spend
at
least
$35+24.16
=
$59.16
per
person
if
you
go
on
one
of
their
tours.
My
students
felt
bad
having
me
buy
them
stuff
at
every
stop,
so
we
didn't
buy
from
a
lot
of
the
stops.
In
summary,
TopDogTours
profits
by
exploiting
their
contracted
tour
guides,
over-charging
customers
without
providing
the
commensurate
food
or
service,
and
expects
to
get
away
with
it,
at
least
in
their
Philadelphia
arm.
Response
to
Owner:
You
don't
have
a
Google
Maps
listing
for
your
Philadelphia
branch.
If
you
create
one,
I
would
be
more
than
happy
to
move
this
review
to
the
Philadelphia
one
and
delete
this
one.
But
you
are
one
company
with
multiple
locations,
and
your
attitude
and
way
of
business
is
reflective
in
your
reply.
When
I
visited
Chicago,
I
went
on
the
Best
Tours
Cupcake
Tour
of
Chicago.
Back
then
it
was
$40,
and
now
I
checked
it
is
$50
and
includes
6
tastings.
Sometimes,
they
even
sell
on
Groupon
for
$19.
So
no,
I
disagree
with
your
outrageous
$100/person
claim.
