After
waiting
about
an
hour
yesterday
we
picked
up
a
car
that
had
1/8
of
a
tank
of
gas
and
wasn’t
very
clean.
Fine,
whatever,
we’ll
get
gas.
But
then
when
we
got
on
the
highway
and
started
driving
the
car
faster
than
30
mph,
we
realized
that
there
was
a
serious
problem
with
the
transmission
as
the
engine
would
make
loud
noises,
shake,
and
there
was
a
smell
of
burning.
We
literally
couldn’t
get
the
car
to
go
faster
than
45
mph.
I’m
driving
in
heavy
traffic
in
an
NYC
area
highway
close
to
JFK
at
this
point
and
my
husband
and
I
are
seriously
concerned
for
our
safety
and
for
those
around
us.
We
try
calling
the
park
slope
location
several
times
with
no
answer,
and
decide
that
the
safest
thing
to
to
would
be
to
go
to
the
Hertz
location
as
JFK
that
we’re
close
to
at
the
moment.
We
get
to
the
Hertz
location
at
JFK
and
they
tell
us
to
that
they
can’t
help
us
and
that
we
either
have
to
drive
back
to
Brooklyn
(in
a
car
that
is
seriously
unsafe
to
drive)
or
drop
the
car
off
in
the
returns
line
(with
no
indication
that
there’s
something
seriously
wrong
with
the
car
so
that
they
can
rent
it
out
to
others!!?)
They
tell
us
that
they
can’t
do
anything
about
a
refund
because
we’ve
prepaid.
The
level
of
customer
service
for
this
company
at
both
locations
was
something
truly
insane-
I
cannot
believe
the
lack
of
concern
about
a
seriously
damaged
and
dangerous
car
and
for
a
customer
that’s
already
paid
for
it.
I
finally
talked
to
one
kind
employee
who
actually
acted
like
a
human
being
who
was
able
to
at
least
take
the
car
out
of
the
return
lines
mark
that
the
car
needed
to
see
a
mechanic.
We
are
distraught
at
this
point
as
we’re
trapped
at
JFK
with
no
way
to
get
out
and
the
hopes
for
our
weekend
plans
rapidly
dimming
(the
Hertz
at
JFK
was
out
of
cars
and
wouldn’t
make
any
effort
at
all
to
help
us).
The
JFK
location
was
clearly
really
understaffed
so
it
seems
like
a
very
systemic
issue.
We
decide
to
make
a
last
ditch
effort
and
check
if
the
Avis
literally
next
door
has
cars.
Avis
has
cars,
is
properly
staffed,
and
we’re
driving
a
car
within
15
min
after
a
pleasant
and
professional
experience.
After
this
experience
I
have
literally
no
idea
why
anyone
would
ever
use
Hertz.
I
know
I
never
will
again.
