I attended the soft opening of HipCityVeg yesterday, and BOY HOWDY was that the best vegan chicken sandwich I’ve ever eaten! If you’re a vegan, or enjoy plant based food, this is the spot for you. Highly HIGHLY recommend this place. It will not disappoint!

Small place. Great for takeouts and it’s all vegan. Tried the golden nugget, smokehouse burger and the wake n bac’n. Golden nuggets are slightly hard and taste wise goes well the sauce. I went with spiciest sauce option. Not so spicy though. The burger packing as you see in the photos is great. And the burger taste was good. I usually don’t like the tempeh. But the Wake n bac’n item turned unexpected. Nice one. Would revisit this place.

A very clean and cute I tried their Pumpkin Shake, and I loved the taste, the only problem was that the "ice cream" had clumped up a bit so it was a bit tough to drink.

was disappointed by the smokehouse burger (the one I got in their DC Chinatown shop was off the charts), and the staff wasn’t very nice although they did the very bare minimum. if you’re nearby still go get their burger, but the Beyond Burger really deserves all the credit

3 men totally unwelcoming and unwilling to serve me and my friends. We just asked to order they say something about closing and just walked out of the restaurant. Terrible service, and terrible employees. Store says it closes at 12 but they said they were “closing” and it was only 9:30.

I loved HipCityVeg in Washington DC, but the one in Manhattan has a lot of room to improve. The key thing is that their food is good but slightly overpriced: that's not really a problem if the experience is great, as it was in DC with a phenomenal server and a quiet, clean space where to enjoy the food. In Manhattan, instead, you have a filthy bench where to eat your fries with your fingers, while depressed-looking servers yell and smoke a couple of feet from your face. So, while I still like their food, I rarely go back to this place: there are just too many better places in Manhattan that are much cheaper.

So I'm from philly where this chain originated in. The last time i tried them was a few years ago. I loved the concept. It was hip, chic decor and felt most analogous to a Panera. This experience was not that. This felt like the experience at a burger king with an option to tip. Both in terms of quality and lack of seating at the time i went (near closing) Pro: even if the store is physically closed to orders they stay open for online orders. Chicken nuggets had the right outside texture. The right look fo stripping in chicken which misled me into thinking it would have resistance, they didnt. The person i went with noted that they were trying to imitate cx nuggets not strips. So I'll give a pass on it although i would not buy them again. Especially for the quantity for $6. The cx sandwich again had similar pros and cons. However, given that it was in a sandwich it was complimented well. The burger was beyond which is fine. However i bought their bbq style one and this is also on me since i don't normally eat this. Would give them one more chance and hope i can change this rating higher.

It can be said that there is no place to sit. It also took a long time to prepare the service. We didn't like the Chick'n burger, but I thought the smokehouse burger and fries were not bad. I may come again.

I have ordered HipCityVeg twice now for lunch, and have been thoroughly impressed by both experiences. I typically go for salads more often than I do sandwiches, which meant that the majority of the menu was not super appealing to me, as they appeal to the more "comfort food" side of vegan offerings, with burgers, 'chicken' sandwiches, and wraps. Hipcityveg is known for their crispy chicken sandwiches though, so I compromised -- ordered a salad and an order of the chicken nuggets. My first order included the udon noodle salad, which included spicy glazed chick'n, organic arugula, sprouts, carrot, cabbage, daikon, scallions, peanuts, and a chinese black bean dressing. The "chicken" was absolutely delicious, and the entire salad was packed with flavor. On the side, I tried the chicken nuggets, which had an unbelievably great texture and crispy breading. The nuggets were well-seasoned, and the "hipcityveg" sauce was kind of a mix of honey mustard and tangy BBQ, and paired perfectly with the nuggets. A colleague who had never had a chicken substitute before, was shocked at how similar the nuggets tasted to a normal chicken nugget -- she claimed that she would not know the difference in a blind taste-test. The second time around, I switched things up with the jerk caesar salad, which included grilled jerk chick'n, organic romaine, jicama, crispy plantains, and a creamy caesar dressing. This was a crisper, lighter salad than the udon salad, and surely would appeal to someone who loves a classic caesar; I just found that it lacked the depth and flavor that the udon noodle salad delivered on. I found that the jerk chicken was a bit less exciting than the spicy glazed chicken that was on the udon noodle salad.

Me and my boyfriend went and he’s vegan I’m not however I tried the buffalo chick’n sandwich and it was by far the best sandwich I ever had ‼️ My boyfriend ordered the Philly chez steak and that was amazing as well. Fries were extremely fresh and crispy. Also try the sweet green tea!! Would recommend and I’ll be coming back. Thankyou
