Location, location, location. Read mixed reviews (mostly negative) prior to same day booking. Still proceeded to book for the two day promo/special. The staff were exceptional, especially Tiara! We had free breakfast at the neighborhood deli which was great(fresh fruit, eggs & bacon, smoothies etc.,...not limited to the usual continental options. The venue was generally clean, though not so sure about the bedding. The rooms are small yet comfortable. Great deal for what we paid & extended our stay for an additional night even though we paid a considerably higher rate. Overall you get what you pay for. I would definitely patronize again but only at the promo rate.

Honestly this is a hole-in-the wall. We booked and paid for a queen bed, but what we actually got were two full-size cots stack atop one another on a metal cot frame. I brought up the incorrect size issue to the front desk, and they refused to do anything about it, so I payed for 5.2 square feet of bed that I didn't actually get to sleep on (that's over 15% area lost). I could deal with the rock-hard cot, dingy bathroom, lack of faucet for the tub (shower options only!), horrible water pressure, off-smelling water, tiny TV screen, lack of bags in the wastebaskets, and lack of central heat (a plug-in space heater that I had to find in a cabinet? Really? In New York in November? In a business that calls itself a hotel?) But honestly, being charged for a queen bed and only given a full cot is what did it for me. I'd settle for 15% of my fare back for the 15% of bed I paid for that I didn't get. I'd say 90% of your exorbitant fare here is going to location, I've stayed in hostels that were better than this place. The gentleman at the front desk during daytime hours was absolutely a sweetheart, bless his soul, and he wasn't the one I spoke to about the bed that evening. At least there weren't bed bugs.

Wasn't sure what to expect at this budget hotel. But upon arrival the front desk staff was friendly and helpful, I was able to store my luggage early. The hotel room was tiny but very clean and even though my bed was a twin it was surprisingly comfortable. I have to say the TV was the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel but who comes to NYC to watch TV? My only peeve was there were no washcloths in the bathroom to wash my face with and the towels were thin and small. All in all if you're used to luxury this ain't the place for you but if you want somewhere to sleep and get a good night's rest this will work.

Front desk staff are really nice, during check in typically it’s suppose to be 3pm but Nick let my son and I to an early check in at 1pm. The room itself is nice and standard for a solo person or also someone with a small child. The room was clean my only con as to the room was not having a mini fridge being that there was a microwave. My only 2nd con would be as to the notification of the $50 deposit. I get the concept of the deposit but I think it would be better to be notified right after when booking about it because what if someone doesn’t have the $50 spot on when checking in,? That kind of threw me off but I get the full concept. I was honestly skeptical when booking it was my first hotel experience and also because the reviews are very mixed but I am very satisfied from my experience at the hotel. Even on my last day at the hotel (Today) normal check out is 12pm so I asked one of the staff in advanced if we can stay anytime longer and he let me stay and extra hour for free. This hotel is perfect if you want something nice and simple without breaking the bank being that it’s literally a 5 minute walk from grand central.

Cleanliness is the only thing this place has going for it. The staff is friendly. The pictures however, are deceiving. The rooms are half the size of a normal bed room, the beds are rock solid. It’s a very claustrophobic room. If I could get my money back and go somewhere nicer, I 100% would spend the extra money.

The hotel location is great- within walking distance to most places. Very Tiny rooms but the prices are reasonable for a downtown hotel. Unfortunately our “nonsmoking” room smelled of cigarette smoke. Staff was very accommodating about getting us new pillows that didn’t smell like cigarettes. Staff is very helpful and accommodating overall.

Let's just say, there's two reasons someone would stay at this hotel. Affordability and location! They are good for both. Very open and welcoming staff. The area is mixed but it is so close to Broadway who cares. Room was older, but clean and all the tile and marble helps it feel nicer. Book with the hotel itself and ask about rooms, you can probably get a better spot my talking to them in advance. No problems at all, but the doors are paper thin.

I really had a good experience in this hotel. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. The beds were very comfortable and rooms were clean. And it is right in the middle of EVERYTHING we only took the subway for the Statue of Liberty the rest of the things we wanted to see were walking distance from this hotel especially the Broadway shows. Plus the price is AWESOME.

The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Not the best accommodations in the city, but the rooms are fine for sleeping. The only issue that you might have is if you are a light sleeper as noise travels easily from the hallway. But if you just need a place to rest your head and mostly want a clean room with a convenient location, you won't go wrong.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The room was small, but comfortable, clean, and had everything that we needed! Loved the shower and great location. Friendly staff, and convenient luggage check.

This place was my jam. . .3 hours mid-day, cash, no questions asked, no ID's. . .we had some fun times here. . .we would meet and get a different room every time. . .half the fun was not knowing how big or small the room would be, how it would be decorated, we had one once where we could crawl under the stair well. . .the showers are big enough for too and the hot water lasts and lasts. . .great atmosphere during the day. . .get a room, lay down and relax and listen for the fun others are having around you. . .amazing good time, freindly, discrete staff, always clean. . .I always hoped people would enjoy the gifts i would leave behind in the drawers. . .

I know there are a lot of negative reviews on here. First off if you are expecting the same kind of hotel as your major chains you will be disappointed. This is not that. I priced hotels in the area and they were outrageously expensive. I booked it because the reviews at least said it was clean and because it was located near where my daughter was doing her theater workshop. We expected it to have an older boutique type feel. We were not disappointed. For the price i was very pleased. It was me a 50 year old female traveling with 4 teenage girls. We always felt safe coming and going in the hotel. It was quiet and our room overlooked the street. We had 2 double beds and a twin so that was an amazing arrangement for our group. The only negative i would give it was the beds are adequate. I wouldn't say they were the most comfortable i had ever slept on. The hotel could upgrade those and help themselves. But i have also slept on a lot worse. The beds had clean sheets and nice bedding. The bathrooms although they had older fixtures are also clean. We had plenty of towels for our motley crew. As others have said it was very well located. Easy to get to a lot of the activities you would be interested in doing. And if you need a subway Penn station is 2 blocks away. The front desk was always super helpful. We were grateful for the luggage locker on the day we left so we could stow our luggage until we were done exploring the city. If we are ever back in the city overnight we would definitely consider staying there again.

Will stay there again. Only complaint, the rooms are pretty small (but honestly not that bad, I just recommend staying with 3 people in a room max) and the bottom bunk-bed in our room was damaged underneath, and tilted to the floor. (it wasn't bad enough to bother me that bad). However, the room was clean, the TV worked, the air conditioner worked, and the hot water worked. You are close to everything, including several subway lines! Staff are in fact as friendly as advertised!
