There is nothing royal about this place, It is more like a dumpster... This has been the worst hotel experience of our lives. Please go somewhere else, because no matter how little money you have, this hotel doesn't deserve any of it. Yes, the pictures on Agoda and Booking.com look decent, and but reality is very different. Those pictures most be old. When we arrived in our room, there was cigarette marks on the sheets, trash on the floor, the floor was dirty, there was a thick layer of dust on the furniture, and weird stains on the curtains. If we were to describe the general smell in the hotel, it was a mixture of old tobacco smoke and a dash of weed. The lock in our hotel door didn't work, and that brings us to the next problem of the hotel... the staff. When we asked the receptionist to help us, he didn't want to come to our room and seemed like he couldn't care less, that we couldn't lock our door to protect our valuables. He told us, that he would keep an eye on our room though the security camera. What an amazing offer (this is sarcasm!) We had to insist to get him to come upstairs to take a look at our room, and help us fix the door, and we took the occasion to also give him a tour of the 'wonders' of our room - the trash, the dirt, and the stains. Again, he didn't care. His behaviour represented our overall experience with the staff very well. Upon our arrival, we were met by another receptionist, who demanded a deposit in cash (never heard of that before), and he didn't have a change of a 100 dollars, and insisted on taking the 100 instead of 60. Everything seemed very dodgy and suspicious, and his English was very bad and he didn't understand what we were saying. But we had the feeling he was acting like he didn't speak English and seem stupid on purpose to get our money. We also read that other guest had similar experiences with the staff. The staff was always changing - every day there was a new receptionist, and no one seems to care of the needs and requests of the guests and ignore you and make minimal effort when you talk to them. So just to make it clear, coming here is not worth saving some money. It feels unsafe, unstructured and frankly like they are just trying to squeeze as much money out of their guests as they can. Spend your money somewhere else!!!

WORST HOTEL IVE EVER STAYED. Not only are the rooms filthy, particularly in mine there were smudged, greasy hand prints on every possible surface, a PAIR OF BOXERS next to the bed. A bag of weed behind my pillow(wasn't too mad about that one). The shampoo and soap they give was already half used, 1 of the 2 lights wouldn't work. Honestly the list goes on...like no hot water to shower...just don't, ruined my weekend.

A Royal Disaster. This hotel should have been condemned and shut down by the city by now. Old, dirty, outdated rooms with paper thin walls. We checked in and the first thing we see is a small cockroach in the bed. We immediately leave and ask to change rooms. The unenthusiastic, unapologetic receptionist moved us to a dank, small dwelling in the basement. The heater didn't work and the light in the bathroom would not turn off. After the first night we were lucky to have Expedia step in and cancel the remaining stay. While we were leaving a group of people was waiting to check out and there's was no staff to help. Another guest said he also saw roaches and was leaving 3 days early. So stay anywhere, in a hostel, at an Airbnb, under a bridge, on a park bench or wherever, as long as it is not here.

This is the review thats gonna give you peace of mind. After booking this hotel I read the reviews and the amount of stress that I got was unreal, I was super paranoid and scared. But I had no choice so I came in for check in anyways. Believe me its not as bad as it seems. The ac is bomb always blasting and the bathroom is clean. It's not a 5 star hotel but it definitely does the job. The guy at the front was nice. They do require a $60 cash deposit and they have an atm in the lobby. Everything worked well inside the room. It's not the 4 seasons but it's a decent motel. I hope I gave someone peace of mind with this review cause I know I was defiantly stressed after reading the other ones prior to arrival.

Only reason they get 1 Star is because I can’t leave it blank. This was the most disgusting hotel ive ever seen in my entire life. We had two rooms, both rooms were NOT cleaned prior to us arriving, there was a blood stain with HAIR on the ceiling, dirty underwear on the window, pee on the floor in the bathroom, the other room had blood on the sheets and the floor, also pee In that bathroom .oh I forgot to mention the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic. Needless to say we checked out after 1 night. I tried to get a refund due to the UNSANITARY and poor conditions of the rooms but was called a “motherfucker” by person who picked up the phone. SPARE YOURSELF THE MONEY, TIME, AND EXPOSURE TO BLOOD AND OTHER GROSS THINGS .. D O - N O T - S T A Y - H E R E !!!!!!

They require a $60 CASH deposit that they don't tell you about until you check in. The hotel would not be so bad if they would replace or deep clean the carpets it smelled bad. No smoke detector in the room. Looks a bit murdery BUT that AC works very well and it's like being in the arctic....maybe to keep your organs cold as they harvest them....either way it's good.

Deserves 0 stars. I checked out 10 minutes after checking in. You have to pay $60 cash as a deposit, which is sketchy. The 'non-smoking' room smelled like a chain-smoker lived there for years. The pillows are tiny. The room was filthy. The customer service was atrocious. I tried to get a refund via Priceline, but was refused. Easily the worst hotel I have ever experienced in my life.

My daughter booked a room here for 4 nights upon her return from Africa as I was going to be flying to NYC to meet up with her. I called the hotel to request an early check-in and they stated that we did not have a reservation. They put me on hold while they attempted to try again to find the reservation as I insisted that we certainly did make this reservation. After 25 minutes of being on hold I finally hung up. I tried calling twice the next day as did my daughter when she landed from Africa just to get sent to the automated operator and then sent to a 'voicemail' which said it was full and not taking messages. We ended up losing out on the money and rebooking a different hotel after sitting at the airport for over 3 hours with no place to go. Although we did not actually stay at this hotel, I can't say that I would recommend it to anyone as I would not want them to deal with a similar situation.

$60 Cash deposit on check in. Good location in need of a renovation. Door lock and latch were loose and did not give a great sense of security. Water pressure in the bathroom is very poor. Carpet was dirty and torn up. Cigarette burns and stains on the sheets. Walls are dirty too. If you can get somewhere nicer for a little bit extra it may be worth it.

Good place to stay. If you're looking for something cheap and good, this is the place. It was clean, didn't have bad smell, train station close to the hotel, comfortable (I stayed in the King Bedroom). The only detail you have to keep in mind is that they only accept cash when you check in. Check in time is at 3:00pm, they don't have chairs in the lobby, so try to get there by the check in time. Other than that, it was fine. Don't complain at all. 👍🏼

This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in my life. The bedsheet seems reused with yellow stain. The room door is not sealed when close, you will be able to see inside the room from the corridor. The overall cleanliness is unacceptable, a lot of hair and dirt can be found in the room. We’ve check in at late evening and the staff was not so friendly.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!! IF i can give 0 stars, I will definitely do it. No safe parking, as stated by the front desk, she told me to look only for the signs (not to park in a prohibited area). The hallway stinks, the worst on the room, no HOT water. It was difficult even to brush your teeth in this cold... so, you cannot stay longer than a day. When going back to the car in the morning, to find out a broken window... we got robbed. Just around the corner. The worst holidays we have spent in NYC... not going back...

Do not stay at this hotel under any circumstance. I have traveled to 40 different states three different countries and pretty much all over the world. I have seen the best hotels in the worst hotels. This hotel is a front for a scam artist. The taxes along with the fees and the deposit is all not disclosed ahead of time. The front desk will tell you that they don't know how to speak English but they do. But they do not know how to speak English when they tell you you can park your car in the front of the hotel and it won't be too. But it will be towed because they inform police and the tow truck driver to tow you as soon as you check out. As soon as you check out, get your car out of that area as quick as you can because as soon as that happens they inform somebody to come tow your car within 20 minutes which is an unbelievable response time. When confronted with it they continued to act like they don't speak English suddenly. And if you're an out-of-town visitor, this will be guaranteed to happen to you

If I could give zero stars I would. Hair in the bed. Cigarette burnt sheets. Dirty pillows. Peeling wall paint. Tv broken without a remote. Dirty shower. Hard towels. We got a dirty room and requested a new one. When we got the new room, the other room was not cleaned, just straightened and given to another customer. Disgusting.

I booked this hotel through Priceline and thought I was getting a great deal when I looked at the pics on the hotel’s website. I was wrong. 1. When I arrived at the hotel after flying into NYC, I was about 2 or 3 hours early, but most hotels will allow you to check in early. When I arrived and asked if I could check in early, I was told I’d have to pay an additional $30 to do that. I said no but asked if I could leave my luggage while I explored the city, and I was told no. So I explored the city for a few hours with my luggage in tow. 2. When I came back to the hotel, I was informed that I had to pay a $60 deposit on top of the price I had booked through Priceline, but also their card machine was down so I’d need to pay everything in cash. So I walked to the nearest atm for my bank and walked back carrying a large sum of cash on me. 3. When I finally got into the room, I noticed a lot of the things other reviews here have stated - the room had a faint smoky smell, the carpet was dirty (possibly blood or mud stains?), messages were carved into the wood furniture (so and so wuz here 1998), there was a cigarette burn in my bedsheets, and the pillows were tiny for a king size bed. 4. I was only able to get a hot shower 1 day out of the 4 nights I stayed at the hotel. 5. My key card stopped working so someone from the front desk had to let me into my room the last 2 days of my stay. 6. The hotel doesn’t offer daily service, so your bed will not get made and you will not get fresh towels unless you ask for them. In order to have your dirty towels and trash picked up, you must throw it out into the hall each morning. I took plenty of pictures to accompany everything I have stated just in case they tried to keep my $60 deposit but I’m not able to share them here.

The most disgusting hotel ever. I made the reservation thru hotels.com, I thought I was getting a deal for a decent place to sleep for one night. The place is terrible, it's dirty, the carpet has blood stains, the sheets had nailed polished, the walls had idk what they were but it was disgusting. Not to mention I had my 1 yrs old baby and didnt even dare to put him on the floor. The elevator someone spit on the floor. This place is very trashy for the price they charge. I checked out 10 mins later and expecting a refund!!

This hotel is pretty much a motel very cheap very dirty terrible service terrible room smell like cigarettes the room wasn’t fully clean I’ll give the bathroom one extra star just for being updated with a new tub new toilet and new tiling on the wall but wait I should really mention that there was absolutely no hot water for the shower. I found a hotel through Priceline and the info was very misleading and so were the reviews. Priceline says to give your credit card info for the stay when you arrive at the police they require cash only my state ended up being only six dollars cheaper but that’s besides the point I’d rather pay six dollars or I should’ve just paid another hundred dollars to stay in a very nice hotel. Bottom line is don’t waste your money here

It was good for one night. Dirty elevator, really shady hotel. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME A RECEIPT!!!. The room is okay but a little shabby. Manager does not take the time to look out for details. Never again!! I just needed one night and I slept good but the staff experience was horrible!

Bad everything. Square pillows and when we ask for extra pillows they said they didn't have, walls teared apart, red and brown stains on the carpet, the phone mess up, stains on the bed sheets and in total stains everywhere

Royals, Stay out! Peasants come in and rest! Very Close to Manhattan, and extremely budget friendly. No bed bugs. Just go there only to use the bed and shower -- and have your fun in Manhattan. Use Metro or just walk, bicycle across the bridge. For breakfast or dinner - walk a few blocks down Crescent to Broadway (of Long Island City (not the Manhattan one), between 34th and 31st) and make a right - lots of nice restaurants and bars. We bicycled from upstate NY to Manhattan and stayed on the 7th floor for two nights - took our bicycles to the room. After check out left the bicycles and panniers at the lobby for about 4 hours. Bikes were not stolen, panniers not ransacked. Staff reciprocated our attitude -- and was quite matter of fact and did not try to enact any fake friendliness or try to make us feel like Royalty (which we weren't, unlike the many one-star reviewers here). The staff stood behind a thick pane of glass -- which I think might be quite justified, considering the tantrums these one-star reviewers here might have thrown. And yes, while stepping out, remember to bang the door as hard as you can to close, and it does remain locked! Just double check it is locked and then get out, have fun.

Dirtiest hotel I have ever been to in my life. Staff is nasty the lobby is filthy, room was so smelly and dirty we had to get a refund and leave. Smoke detector wasn’t even on the wall, the blanket had burn holes in it and the carpet was stained in multiple spots. We left and we’re able to get a room and La Quinta Wyndham about 5 minutes away, paid a little more but got free breakfast and easy parking. Avoid Royal Stay and any good reviews here because they are lies.

November 11, 2022: This place is by far the dingiest and skeeviest place Iv ever stayed at. The room was smelly and dirty with suspicious stains all over the walls. The staff was also extremely rude and was demanding that I give them a $100 cash deposit for my 1 night stay. Iv never heard such a thing in my life. Please save your self the stress and don’t be fooled by this hotel’s low price. It is a honey trap and a total catfish with outdated pictures. Beware!!
