Buyer beware: cheap jewelry and poor customer My fiancĆ© bought an engagement ring from this company and it broke after less than 2 months of wear. A 14k gold ring should not break like this. The interior of the metal is a dark grey color suggesting the band is only gold plated. The customer service agent who my fiancĆ© spoke to said they would charge for the repairs because it isnā€™t their fault. $3k rings should just break. Really disappointed.

So happy I finally got the chance to visit! I have tiny wrists so I always have to bring my jewelry in to shorten. So thankfully itā€™s a one stop jewelry shop. I got both of my bracelets custom fit and zapped on so they donā€™t come off, ever. Unless of course I want to have them removed. Thanks so much to the staff and I will be back for more šŸ’•

My daughter and I just loved our permanent bracelets which we got on our trip to Manhattan in April 2022. She got hers for her 16th birthday and I just because. My daughters fell off a few weeks ago and mine just fell off today and Iā€™ve lost it. Itā€™s very disappointing. They are super fragile and probably the place where they get welded becomes very delicate. It was about $160/$170 cad for eachā€¦ so. Very very disappointed. We Will not get these ever again though they are adorable and comfortable. Seems like a waste of moneyā€¦ :(

I came here to get their forever bracelets with my sister. The customer service was frankly poor and the store was extremely badly organized. One employee was kind and helpful and showed us where we could see the selection. However, another employee stepped in and said that there was a line to view the selection. We apologized and got on the line, only to see that it was actually a checkout line, where no one was looking at the selection. Finally we got back to the front to view the bracelet options and asked to be placed on the wait-list. They added us, told us the wait time was around 30 minutes, and said they would text us when they were ready. We stepped out to get a coffee next door and realized at some point they were never going to text us. While I think some of their jewelry is pretty cute, I'm amazed at how poorly they treat their customers. This is 2 stars and not 1 because of the one employee who did try to help us.

Came here with 4 friends to get the zapped bracelets while in town. I called ahead for an appointment and the woman on the phone suggested I come in Monday as a walk in because they are usually slow. When we arrived the woman at the front desk couldnā€™t have been more annoyed that we were in the store. The store was not busy but she was huffing and puffing like we were so rude for being there. We like our brackets but the customer service seriously needs some work.

I have been a loyal catbird customer for years but I will never purchase anything from then again after my recent experience. I damaged my engagement ring accidentally, which I admit was my fault. I sent it in to their repairs department following the instructions laid out on their website. A diamond had fallen out of my ring when it was damaged. I was very careful when packing my repair to be shipped. The ring and diamond were secure in a small, ziploc sealed jewelry bag. I placed the bag inside of a ring box. I added packing paper for cushioning. I made sure to tape every edge of the box closed. I am certain that if they received an in tact box, nothing should have been missing. They claimed the diamond was not in the package. They claimed they could not repair the ring, but recommended a different jeweler that could. What professional jeweler is unable to repair their own jewelry? They did nothing to replace the diamond that they clearly lost in their own unpacking process, other than say "sorry we could not find it." That is UNACCEPTABLE. Catbird is a hugely popular company that could have easily made it right by replacing the missing stone and offering to make the repair even if it was at a cost. Now I have to seek out a new jeweler to make the repair and will have to replace the diamond at my own cost. Catbird has lost a customer and referral source with this experience.

I loved the idea of getting a permanent bracelet so my husband took me here (from Boston) to get one. However, the jewelry is clearly lacking in quality (despite the price tag) - my bracelet lasted less than a year before it fell off. I brought this to the attention of the store and they offered me a small discount and suggested I buy another one. Why would I spend more money on overpriced, cheap junk bracelets. I have purchased Primmark jewelry that has lasted longer. Neat idea but not worth it, especially since the company isn't willing to stand by its product.

I almost lost my ear bc of this scam/poor quality earrings. A doctor had to remove the earring and told me this only happens with poor quality gold and never to wear them again. ā€œCustomer experienceā€ team responded more than a month later that I mustā€™ve done something myself to the earrings. They deliver same day bc itā€™s a drug like scam.

catbird has beautiful, delicate designs. However, the quality of the pieces is poor. I purchased a ring to wear as my wedding band. Within fewer than 10 wears, a diamond fell out. I wrote to catbird and customer service ā€œfixedā€ the ring and sent it back to me with a new stone. In the meantime, I purchased a different wedding band since I was anxious about the fragility of the catbird ring. I have worn the fixed ring about 6 times since then, because Iā€™m anxious about itā€™s fragility. Yesterday, I wore the ring for the first time in a year. This morning, the same stone is missing. Itā€™s really frustrating and disappointing. Itā€™s a gorgeous ring but I would never ever buy something from Catbird again knowing the quality issues.

Individual members of the Catbird team have been very helpful and I love many of their designs and commitment to sustainability. However (and itā€™s a big however), Iā€™ve had a terrible time trying to get my engagement ring repaired after the only diamond fell out in just six months of having the ring. The ring my fiancĆ© bought me, the Homespun Solitaire, has a very delicate band and a single stone. I was very careful with the ring, taking it off regularly for any activity that would risk damaging it. Still, somehow a prong was damaged and the diamond fell out. We were immediately in touch with Catbird about a repair and about warranties that might cover it ā€” we took the ring to the store, who shipped it to the designer, who determined that the repair would cost $215. The website states that wedding jewelry will be repaired free of charge for the first year, though I came to find out that this was only for Catbird original pieces, not designer pieces. Still, while on the phone with a helpful employee, I learned that there was additional coverage that Catbird might be able to offer if the damage was not due to negligence or normal wear and tear ā€” clearly, my case involved neither. After speaking with that employee, however, it was incredibly hard to reach anyone on the Catbird customer service team. I emailed and my emails went unanswered. No one pick up on the customer service phone line and there was no option to leave a voicemail. I kept trying back, occasionally getting hold of someone who said theyā€™d be back in touch, but that didnā€™t happen. This went on for about a month and a half. Finally, I was able to reach a manager through the Soho store who stayed on the phone with me until she figured out the system ā€” that was helpful and her assistance was much appreciated. She agreed that clearly the ring shouldnā€™t have broken like that. BUT, she confirmed for me that there was nothing Catbird would do to cover the cost of repair to my ring. It still doesnā€™t make sense to me, given that the website says that they offer "a 2 year warranty to take care of your item if any breakage or damage occurs." Iā€™m shocked that Catbird doesnā€™t stand behind the products they sell more. If the ring broke because it was simply too delicate, they should seriously consider pulling the product ā€” hilariously, they no longer sell my ring model, very possibly because this is what happens to it! Iā€™m seriously disappointed with the whole experience. If they had covered the repair, or admitted that this model tends to break easily and credited me the value of the ring towards the purchase of a sturdier one, they could have kept my business. Not looking likely.

Zero stars if I could. Entered the shop on a snowy Saturday for a repair. Paid the repair fee and sat down. In that moment I remembered I ended up going with a different company for my bracelet so they could not repair. Fully fair. I asked for a refund. Vi walked me to the back and then right in front of myself and other customers started mocking me. She was incredibly rude and the other staff behind the counter laughed along with her. This store needs a revamp in staffing asap.

I went to drop of my engagement ring to get it resized. I showed my ring and asked for the process (timing, shipping vs. pick up, etc). She said "Well, it depends how much your ring was." Strange question to ask in my opinion. I said that I don't know how much my fiancƩ paid for the ring. I asked about the shipping process and that I'm concerned it getting stolen on the way. She just said yes and looked at me. There was no empathy or explanation on to get the ring shipped safely. I then asked to try on wedding bands (no explanation was given to any of the rings). I tried on a couple and asked to see more from a different shelf. She just ignored me and rather took care of a group of teenagers that were trying to buy these zapped bracelets. So I had to wait for someone else. (Didn't get an explanation on the rings either). I felt like I was at a Claire's. There was no acknowledgement of my recent engagement or my upcoming wedding. I barely got any attention while I was already wearing one of their rings that was surely not cheap AND showed interest in their diamond wedding bands. I did not drop off my ring. Zapping those bracelets seems to be their priority.

My fiancĆ© bought my engagement ring from Catbird. I loved it initially - so delicate and beautiful and unique! I donā€™t wear a lot of jewelry generally, and I wasnā€™t even wearing this ring too frequently. Then, just today, after only 4 months of wearing it, the diamond fell out of the ring suddenly. I hadnā€™t been doing anything strenuous or physical at all. I obviously have no idea where the diamond is now - somewhere on the floor of an airport. Itā€™s extremely disappointing that a shop that promotes itself as well-made, eco friendly, and local makes such cheap jewelry. Even small stones can be secured to a ring. Itā€™s shocking that a diamond ring like this only lasted 4 months. I would not recommend Catbird at all and would advise people to go somewhere with quality pieces.

I purchased a ring on 12/21 as an Xmas gift at the Rockefeller Center location and they assured me I could easily exchange it if the size wasn't right. After buying the ring, I placed it in a box and waited until Xmas Day to give it to my spouse. When I tried to exchange it at the Soho location on the 26th, the staff scrutinized the ring's condition implying heavy wear despite my recent purchase and the kept receipt. Their remarks about it looking "worn" not only offended the sentiment of the gift in front of my spouse, but also raised doubts about Catbird's integrity and the condition of the rings they sell. Although they eventually allowed the exchange, this experience has made me hesitant to buy from them again.

The jewelry collection never disappoints, and my yearly tradition of adding new pieces is a testament to Catbird's timeless allure. However, the true highlight is the exceptional sales associate, Isabella. Her warmth, patience, and genuine care elevate the shopping experience to an extraordinary level. During my most recent visit, Isabella made my mom's quest for a small birthday charm an absolute joy. Her outstanding service transformed a simple shopping trip into a truly special moment. At Catbird, the combination of enchanting jewelry and unparalleled service by individuals like Isabella made my visit an unforgettable experience.

To be honest, out of the multiple times Iā€™ve been here Iā€™ve probably had only one positive experience with someone working at the store. Other than that, the salespeople here are quite standoffish - I waited for 15-20 minutes just to see some items when the store barely had 3 people in it, and when I asked to be helped a bunch of times it felt like I was talking to a wall. Iā€™ve purchased many pieces both online and in-store in BK from Catbird, and while the prices are a bit inflated for the amount of gold you get, I didnā€™t mind paying extra because of the creativity and craftsmanship. This particular location, however, needs to work on customer interactions.

My partner and I bought our wedding rings at the Annex location in Brooklyn. We love our rings and everything else Catbird that I own. The reason for the 3/5 stars is because I wish the store experience and staff were more mature and professional. They donā€™t seem to know a lot about their product, and I find myself always having to ask questions like info on warranty, services, cleaning, etc. It should be something they offer right from the start. It feels like for the money Iā€™m spending $$$$, the staff should be more attentive and knowledgeable. I received better service at Loeffler Randall nearby for a pair of 200usd shoes. I wish Catbird would treat the store like a proper jewelry business and not just another retail shop in Soho. The Brooklyn location is a bit better at this IMO. Although my experience is a bit tarnished, Iā€™ll continue to shop Catbird because I love their artists and quality/styles of jewelry, I just hope to see much better customer service in the future.

Great jewelry, bad customer service. I've had the diamond fizz ring (size: sparkler) for a year and it has not tarnished. The prongs are very strong and hold the diamond in place. It's beautiful and has served my partner and I well as a promise ring. This ring is definitely worth the price. However, the customer service isn't that great. My partner and I went to the Soho location to pick out a ring and the staff was not friendly or welcoming-kind of important qualities you want to see in staff when youā€™re about to pay $300 for the ring! We tried on rings and they didn't even try to persuade us to buy the ring we were interested in. It was obvious we were buying the ring for an occasion and the staff showed absolutely no consideration. Not sure if they were homophobic or just bad sales people. But either way, if this is how they treat all their customers then the company is seriously losing out on sales due to poor skills of their staff!

Bought a bracelet here ā€” the lock was so weak that I lost the bracelet within 2 months of wear (it just unlocked and fell off). When I came to the shop to get a replacement done ā€œpermanentlyā€ (aka welded on my wrist), I complained to the employees that the one with the lock just fell off. They said theyā€™re aware of that issue. I also got a chain ring and it stretched. Itā€™s been slipping off my finger for a while and I was just waiting for the day it will fall off just as unexpectedly as the bracelet did. Today was the day. This jewelry is not done well enough to be suitable for long term wear. You may be buying gold, but beware that it will not serve you long term.

Had a wonderful experience at Catbird Soho this evening. Went in to pick out a couple necklaces for my daughterā€™s 25th birthday. Ended up getting exactly what she was looking for. Laura was a great help! The jewelry is very teeny tiny but so pretty. The quality is there. We will go back.

This has to be the most overrated and disappointing service I have received in a long time. My boyfriend and I went to "get zapped" after I read up about the service, and I wanted to do something special as a couple. Having read about this previously and coming to visit NYC, we set aside one of our days, made the appointment on the website a week ahead, and we both looked forward to the experience. First, they needed the bands in stock. As they are listed on the website (almost no white gold and silver), we sit down after picking a strand out from what was in stock. We chose the swimming pool bracelet and unlike the website that states that charms can be added to any bracelet, we were informed that none of the charms could be added to ours. The clerk that did the zapping completely ignored me when I said I wanted a longer length; she advised against it, and even though she said we could change it, she just went ahead with the size she wanted to do and sealed the thing. Also, there is no "zapping of the bands together.ā€ Itā€™s simply a little gold ring that gets inserted that turns into a bracelet that is not removed. But in no way is it seamless. Now, my biggest disappointment is that I was so much ignored that the clerk ended up having a lively conversation about NYC schools, and I sat on the side watching and listening to these two. (I am from out of town and this conversation was meaningless). She finished me in a few minutes, and with my boyfriend, she held a long conversation that made me want to ask if I should return later. (I did mention when it was all done that this was a huge disappointment and that I felt entirely left out). He just wanted to be polite. However, she didnā€™t seem to adhere to the experiential narrative as advertised on the website and I simply felt left out: if you sell this as a coupleā€™s experience, please make it one! I was so disappointed and underwhelmed that now, all I see when I look at this thin cheap bracelet, is that I am reminded that we spent over $540 on it. We could have purchased more excellent, higher quality bracelets with a clasp for that money and probably gotten better service. Overall, I hated the experience, really disliked the unprofessionalism of the clerk, and the bracelet was not the length I wanted (do they want to save gold since the clerk herself had many various sizes?) I can't believe I made this part of my NYC experience. I hope this review serves as a cautionary tale. For me it was a costly lesson learned, and to top it off, I now get to carry a daily reminder.

I've bought many pieces from catbird online and when I was in New York on a trip I was so excited to stop by. The online aesthetic did not match my experience here at all. I spent a lot of time looking at pieces and when I went to the front to get help I was ignored. There was zero acknowledgement from any of the staff, it was very strange. The girls behind the counter were trying on jewelry for themselves. It just felt very disappointing so I left without spending any money here.

Ordered my engagement ring on June 4th following their online sizing, but still allowing plenty of time for resizing prior to our destination wedding. Ring arrived after 2.5 weeks and needed to be resized; no big deal other than the somewhat slow 3-4 week turnaround time which is their advertised standard. The ring came back after 6 weeks (2nd week of August), but that's not the worst part: they had literally done NOTHING. The ring came back the same size! Even though there were 3-4 weeks prior to our departure, there were not 6-8 weeks as I then expected with their previous service and turnarounds, so I opted to get it resized upon return (20 day vacation). Sent it to them upon return, and I'm still waiting for the ring, as they didn't do ANYTHING above and beyond to remedy this situation; e.g. expediting the resize, expediting shipping, etc. When I asked them for an update (because expecting them to communicate without prompt is a pipe dream), they told me that they're in week 3 of their 3-4 week resize window, which they already told me to expect. NO KIDDING! I don't need you to tell me that, I can look at a calendar! Ring is now arriving during the Thanksgiving holiday, which we won't be around for, so tack on another week to this process. If they had expedited shipping we could be done with this process and this company for good, and I don't think that's too much to ask given the timeline and poor service we've received.

My partner bought my engagement ring here. It was a bit too large so we stopped by one Saturday afternoon (no appointment) and they helped us so quickly and kindly. All workers and most of the customers were masked. They shared that it would take up to 5 weeks to resize. It took less than 3 weeks! And it fits great. Love my ring and amazing customer service

I am from Australia have been purchasing from Catbird for years now and love all my pieces. My friend gave me one of their gift vouchers 6 years ago and I only just got around to spending it. Because it was so dated, my voucher wouldn't work online, but the lovely online customer service team helped me through all the hurdles and were so amazing! I love the Barnes ring I purchased and it arrived so quickly, within just a few days! I couldn't be happier with the entire experience :)

Ordered the "slumberous" opal earrings for my daughter's birthday and they just arrived. They are the smallest chip of a stone that I've ever seen. I think the hole in her ear is larger than these stones themselves. And these were the larger of the two opal studs available! I can't even imagine what the smaller ones look like. Look elsewhere, this is a brand over value retailer. Cute website and packaging will not make up for terrible, terrible value.

I cannot express the obsession I have for this jeweler. Every piece I order is so delicate but also so strong. My permanent bracelet, which I got when visiting the city, is now 3 years strong. It has stretched from dog nails and teeth, clothes, etc... and never broken. Now I can slide it on and off. It's amazing. I love that they sell single earrings. I have a mix of earrings in my ears that I haven't removed in years now. I also have some that I trade out. They're all great! Their customer service is empathetic, really looks out for you, and ready to ensure your experience is the best. This is the only jewelry I buy now-when it's shipped you always get the best packaging. My wedding ring, engagement ring... All from them. Every year I count down to my birthday discount!! Now that they work with klarna.. It's over for me! Lol I've turned on every person I can to buy jewelry from them, and I will continue to do so. Life-long customer here. Here's the must recent pics of some of my necklaces stacked. Can't find the other pics of the restšŸ¤£

only ship via ups and allow packages to be rerouted to ā€œaccess pointsā€ at the drivers discretion and not chosen by the recipient. having major issues with ups in my area so called in to see if we could send another method or at least recall and refund. was told that customer service would look into the issue with their corporate ups channel and have it sent to my residence or recalled if they couldnā€™t deliver, and then nothing was done at all. had to call back (they just tell you they donā€™t have staff on the automated line and end the call after you wait on hold!) and then email 2 times several weeks later just to get a response which was basically no we wonā€™t use any other carrier and we can refund order but only once package is received back - makes sense, but then they asked if i wanted them to recall the package - iā€™m like yes thatā€™s what iā€™ve been asking. now i leave for a wedding in the am and have no jewelry for the dress and still have a $700+ charge on my card for the items i didnā€™t receive from my order placed on feb 18th. itā€™s march 15th now. super disappointing first time experience. no idea if the quality is nice but canā€™t possibly be worth the hassle ā˜¹ļø

About a month ago I went to the Soho Catbird location with my best friend to get zapped. We made an appointment and were taken care of immediately. The store is so cute and there is so much to take in. I love the minimalistic designs and the curation of the shop. We had Bella as our Zapper. She presented herself as very knowledgeable with sizing and safety. The process was very quick. I have been wearing my bracelet and I JUST LOVE IT. It is a simple reminder of my best friend each time I glance at it. Thank you Bella and Catbird!!!

What a massive disappointment of a store. Whatā€™s happened to this brand? As a longtime customer of catbird, I was deeply upset by my visit to the soho store earlier today. I came in to have a Catbird piece that I already own, adjusted (something they apparently do not and refuse to do) The salesperson said I could either go to another jeweler or do it myself, and thus was literally handed scissors. I couldnā€™t believe this was actually happening. Once I snipped my bracelets loose end off, I was immediately informed that I could NEVER return that item now that Iā€™ve cut it. Okay? Thanksā€¦? What a joke. I figured maybe it was a one-off bad vibe and browsed around. Tried on a necklace that I was interested in, but asked if I could swap out the necklace chain for one of their other options when purchasing. I was told that that wasnā€™t an option but I could ā€œGo to another jewelry storeā€ if I wanted a different chain. What are you talking aboutā€¦I want a different chain that is in this store, that YOU sell. I genuinely thought I was losing my mind. Is everyone okay in there? What on earth is going on in terms of quality, in terms of salesmanship? Craftsmanship? Service? Maybe Iā€™ll just take the advice given to me and Iā€™ll just ā€˜go to another jewelry storeā€™.
