It is very great and beautiful and plunges a person into the depths of peace. The Pond in Central Park is a good sized body of water with natural areas and great wildlife around it. The pond is relatively clean and very natural in appearance. Not only is this great for human visitors, but it also helps support the wildlife that inhabits the park. Several routes to the pond are available, and the view of each of them is unique and interesting.

How can someone not love Central Park, the lake is beautiful, the walking is great, it feels like you arnt in the big city until you see the beautiful skyline. There is so much to do in Central Park. Obscure things such as, rock climbing, while also typical things you have seen in movies like picnics and sports events. There is limited drinking water and few food options in the park, but right on the outside of the park there are ample food options within walking distance. You could spend an entire day here and probably not see everything. A must see if you are in NYC.

After a walk trough Harlem, simply enter Central Park on the north side and cross it to the south end. Thanks also to the little sparrow who placed a gift on my head on the way :) And since it just fits, the park is home to countless species of animals and you can escape between the trees of the heat of summer, and the noisy and sometimes very hectic everyday life of the New York infrastructure. A must for every New Yorker and tourist.

One of the essential places to visit in Central Park. You can possibly take the best photos of the entire park, especially in winter. You will see an amazing mix of nature with skyscrapers in the background.

Any part of Central Park is calming, but The Pond at Central Park has many small vignettes where you can become one with nature. Okay, maybe not one, but you can chill out for a few hours and just relax. There are small hills to sit and meditate. There are plenty of benches to watch the water, feed a few fowl friends or just people watch. Honestly, no matter what you do the time will fly by.

Beautiful view of buildings (modern and old) as backdrop of the pond. The walk around the pond takes less than 30 minutes. Many benches to sit down, to enjoy the sunshine and the views.

This pond was fully frozen but it still looked beautiful with the buildings and the city vibe all around.

Great photo / sketching spot. Not ideal seeing rat runs around, second hand smoke of some-sort.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Unfortunately this is not completely reflected in the photograph, as it was about to start pouring rain. But the pond was delightful. It was quiet and full of wildlife. There were ducks, koi fish, and tons of turtles! YAY! And even two party pigeons fighting over a pretzel! How fun.

I love this park! It’s a wonderful respite from the hustle and bustle of the city and lovely to see everyone strolling, relaxing, having picnics, listening to music… We even witnessed a wedding proposal! Just a beautiful way to spend the afternoon!

Amazing you're in a large city but laying in a park with only the top of the tallest building visible. It was a cool experience.

The Pond at Central Park is a peaceful nature haven right in the heart of bustling New York City. This hidden gem offers a serene escape with its reflective waters, lush greenery, and diverse wildlife. It's a fantastic spot for relaxation and nature lovers, and the chance to see various birds adds to its charm. You can even enjoy activities like rowing or a leisurely stroll along the water's edge. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, it's not just a natural oasis but also a piece of New York's history and architecture.

As originally laid out by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the Pond was considerably larger. A large piece of its upper reaches, which once spanned a narrow neck of water, was paved over to form Wollman Rink, which opened in 1950. The Central Park Conservancy started a reconstruction of the Pond in 2000, and completed it the next year. The reconstruction included new shoreline and perimeter plantings, an island habitat for birds and turtles, and beyond Gapstow Bridge, a series of small pools and cascades.[citation needed] A male mandarin duck resident of the Pond, nicknamed Mandarin Patinkin, received international media attention in late 2018 and early 2019; the duck's colorful appearance and the species' appearance outside its native range in East Asia contributed to its popularity.

Such a peaceful and scenic spot! The pond is visible from W 59th St and has beautiful landscaping and pathways that meander around it. The picturesque Gapstow Bridge crosses over the Northern end from which there is a great view of the pond and surrounding buildings. Definitely worth a visit!
