On
June
17th,
2022,
we
went
to
the
Whitney
2022
Biennial,
and
we
wanted
some
LUXURY
vegan
experience
to
make
the
day
feel
like
a
really
festive
affair.
We
were
*so*
lucky
to
discover
Belse
on
its
opening
week!
This
has
the
makings
of
an
extremely
successful
Vegan
High-End
Restaurant.
The
atmosphere
is
lovely
(but
enough
room
not
be
crammed),
the
staff
attentive
and
smart,
and
the
food...
is
out-of-this-world
—
everything
is
divine!!
Their
great
website
features
the
menu
with
for
each
item:
A
realistic
photo;
the
list
of
ingredients;
the
price.
So
go
to
their
website
now
to
see
what
you'd
like!
We
started
with
a
Vegan
Blackberry
Ale
and
the
Coconut
Mock
Mojito
(this
place
gets
bonus
points
for
having
so
many
delicious
mocktails,
since
I
know
many
of
my
vegan
friends
also
tend
to
be
California
sober!).
The
opportunity
for
feasting
like
this
is
so
rare,
we
basically
ordered
everything
we
could
eat.
I
recommend
ALL
the
appetizers,
and
we
didn't
leave
a
single
bite
(to
the
amazement
of
the
staff
who
aren't
yet
accustomed
to
the
fact
that
they
are
in
a
Vegan
Michelin!).
—
The
Broccolini
is
a
no
brainer.
Fresh
vegetable.
Beautifully
braised.
Yummy
sauce
(that
isn't
overpowering).
—
The
Edamame
Hummus
is
fresh,
slightly
tart,
with
a
fullness
that
is
lovely
to
spread
on
crudités
and
flatbread
(our
waiter,
Craig,
was
so
attentive,
marvelous
and
tipped
us
off
to
the
fact
that
we
could
order
both
for
the
hummus).
—
The
Seasoned
Fries
were
yummy,
and
while
we
thought
they
would
not
be
anything
special,
we
were
wrong,
the
raspberry
ketchup
is
addictive!
—
The
Grilled
Caesar
is
maybe
the
only
thing
that
we
both
didn't
love,
but
I
really
liked
the
grilled
capers
and
the
melting
Romaine.
—
The
Sausage
Fennel
Flatbread
was
perfect,
especially
if
you've
been
craving
vegan
pizza.
The
cashew
sauce
is
creamy
and
salty/savory,
and
each
bite
is
delectable.
After
eating
all
of
that,
we
were
very,
very
glad
that
Craig
had
not
yet
put
the
mains
in
(the
kitchen
was
so
fast,
it
didn't
delay
anything,
but
gave
us
the
option
to
reevaluate
our
appetite).
We
pulled
one
of
our
mains,
and
had
the
Eggplant
Filet.
It
was
this
lightly
grilled
eggplant,
with
criss-cross
on
top
to
make
sure
the
vegetable
was
evenly
cooked,
on
a
piece
of
polenta.
We
wrapped
up
with
the
Raw
Cheesecake
Cup
(only
thing
that
was
a
bit
underwhelming).
Evening
was
wonderful.
Craig
and
staff
were
amazing.
The
food,
in
the
end,
was
very
affordable.
I
can't
wait
to
go
back
to
try
what
we
didn't
order
this
time!
Long
live,
Belse!!
Pros:
the
food
is
high-end,
delicious,
colorful,
attentive
staff
(get
Craig!),
classy
atmosphere,
eclectic
(pizza,
vegetables,
vegan
wine/beer,
...)
