We chose Blazing Saddles because of reviews, multiple locations (in hopes we can return at the end of our route), and a 24 hour drop-off (or so we thought). We reserved and paid online before coming in that morning because there’s a small discount when doing so. After paying, we received a confirmation letter which states, and I quote: “Our Pier 17 location at the South Street Seaport (93 South Street) is located right at the start of the Brooklyn Bridge bike path! Our drop-off facility is open 24 hours at this location!” But sadly, we were informed this is not true when we picked up our bikes. We were told we had to drop the bike rental back at closing time which is 7p even though the rental is for 24 hours. Oh, there is a higher security deposit if you do choose to keep it for the full 24 hours. We were then later again disappointed to find out that in order to drop back off at a different location we’d be charged $5 per rental. Understandable, but it would’ve been nice if these things were disclosed on the website during reservation. Otherwise, our experience was fine. Bikes were sturdy and did their jobs. Drop off was quick. Staff were informative when giving instructions for the bikes which came with a saddle, bike lock, map, and zipped pouch in the front.

Lets start off by saying: I am not an everday cyclist, only leisurely and I felt safe biking the city streets even without a designated bike lane; drivers are very aware of cyclists. Biking is a great way to see the different boroughs and not have to cab, subway or walk everywhere. We had the bikes for 24 hours, split into two days...one to see Manhattan, Central Park and Harlem and one day to see Brooklyn & Williamsburg. Blazing Saddles is nicely situated by the Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges; you can go over the Brooklyn bridge and return by the Williamsburg. The bicycles are in great condition and sturdy, includes a bike pouch, map and bike lock. The staff at Blazing Saddles were fantastic, very accomodating and informative. *There is no 24 hour drop off; you can drop off at a couple of different locations by 7pm and pick it up the next morning, unless your hotel will store it. The only critique would be that the bikes need a water bottle holder.

This was hands-down my best customer service experience while on a 4-day trip to New York. I came to this place because it's included in a "New York Pass" (get it if you're visiting, btw), and used it to rent bikes to check out the bridge and the park across the river. The person who helped us, Smiley is a gem. Not only was she super-helpful, but cheerful and efficient as well. She has that straight-talk New Yorkers are known for, but kept it professional at all times. If she's not the owner or manager, I hope they know what a stellar employee they have. That said, the bikes were in good condition and were pleasant to ride. We didn't get "upsold" on the more expensive bikes although we were of course given the opportunity to see if they fit our needs better. The locks worked well and we had no problems whatsoever. In fact, this experience has encouraged me to get a bike back home in San Diego! Highly recommend.

Friendly staff and very fast service. They are across the street from the Greenway, so that is very convenient. The bikes were in decent shape and quality and we enjoyed our ride.

Bikes were ok but you don't need a bike for Central Park. You can only ride outside, if you want to see something inside then just push, and you will also be approached by the mounted police, only outside on your bike. So a bike is not worth it. We were very satisfied with this bike rental. Contrary to my report above, we were in Brooklyn, all the way down to Bay Ridge. The description for Central Park is the same as for Prospect Parc, cycling only outside. Otherwise we were very satisfied.

Smiley was absolutely amazing. She was informative and very pleasant to deal with. She was incredibly helpful and made sure we were well taken care of. Biking the Brooklyn Bridge and through downtown New York was an incredible experience I'll never forget. Im so glad we did this. Anyone looking to do this should check them out. Their bikes were well maintained and their customer service was on point. Thanks again!!

We went last minute without reservations and rented 4 E-bikes for a great price. I didn’t get her name but the woman that worked there was awesome and got us setup in 10-15 minutes. She also explained how to get to the green bike trail and to the Brooklyn Bridge. The bikes were awesome and we had a great time riding all around Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Rented with Blazing Saddles in San Francisco and decided to rent with them again in NYC—super glad we did! The service was so friendly and helpful, and the bikes were in great condition (two performance bikes) and came with baskets and U-locks. We biked both the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges and also took the Greenway up to Little Island. Highly recommend! :)

We had a blast renting the bikes with the family. Corey was really kind and made sure everything was safe. Renting a bike make it really to discover Manhattan and Brooklynn.

Our family of 4 has rented bikes several times here and usually we have a good time. However, once there was a middle school group of several hundred kids on the island and many of them were allowed to rent bikes. If you have ever seen large groups of middle schoolers, you know they travel in oblivious packs like drunk squirrels. One of these kids on a rented bike ran into my child HARD while my child was stationary on the side of the road and the middle schooler was not paying attention to where he was going. He slammed into my daughter. My child was injured and this altered our vacation. I do not think that Blazing Saddles should rent to field trip groups because they are not responsible enough to handle it. I say this as a teacher and a parent.

Easy process of rental, I booked a performance bike online the same day. The bike wasn't anything special but served the purpose. Smiley was very kind.👍

Really impressed with the service and enthusiasm from smiley who met me and welcomed me back after my day exploring. The bike worked well and the lock and front bag were really useful. I thankfully didn’t need the supplied tyre repair kit. The provided map was really detailed and showed the huge amount of traffic free cycling to be had in NYC. A brief trip in to New Jersey over the George Washington bridge was 99% on bike paths.

Friendly people, good bikes, free map and a lot of information. rent was no problem at all. we liked our briges tour. 1 little issue, there was no chain guard on 2 of the 4 bikes what ruined the jeans...

Smiley is a wonderful and helpful human being. The best service you could ask for. The tandem was spot on, and we are veterans. Check the east coast route guys, before you go. West coast is SUPERB

Smiley was extremely friendly and had great customer service. Should be able to bike over the Brooklyn Bridge and to Brooklyn heights within 20-30 minutes. Can be tricky paying attention to where the bicycle trail, be careful. Do not take your bike where all the tourists walk on the bridge.

Renting bicycles from blazing saddles enabled us to bike for miles on a bike path through Manhattan. We made it to Little Island, where we disembarked and walked around. Then we bicycled back!

Fantastic service! The girl who helped us (Smiley) was awesome!!! Got us setup with the bikes and gave us very helpful directions to explore Brooklyn. Appreciate people who live their jobs and excuse positive energy.

The bicycle was in really good mechanical condition, easy to ride, and Smiley is the kind of soul that makes you feel that there's hope in humankind. Great staff, really nice bicycles. This is the place! 🚲🎖

Smiley was very nice. Price was reasonable, especially for NYC. We had two ebikes. They were perfectly functional, but the brakes on one were a bit finicky and the other didn’t shift gears at all. The electric peddle assist more than made up for it. We had a mishap with one of our locks not working, but that was user error. Tip: test out EVERYTHING before riding away. Including locks. We had two different model locks that may have added to the confusion. A bit of idiocy on my part. All in all, a great experience. The bikes needed updating and I can’t knock them on my own error with the lock. Will visit again.

Got a brand new Fuji mountain bike for my Five Boro Bike Tour rental. Everything worked perfectly, and the service both picking up and returning was fast, friendly and enthusiastic. Can't beat the location either. Definitely my go-to bike rental place from now on.

This place was amazing. The next time I come to Governors Island I will rent the surrey’s for longer. At the end of our trip with the surrey, the worker gave us free ponchos since it was raining.
