I’ve been coming to the Modern for years now. And I’ve enjoyed Lunch, Dinner, and the casual Bar Room experience. I can say with the utmost confidence that this is my favorite restaurant In the world. You can taste and feel every detail during your experience, from the crunch of a perfectly dry aged duck, to the rich and deep flavor of a chocolate torte. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and sitting next to the outdoor sculpture garden is the perfect backdrop to a delicious meal. If you are visiting New York, and don’t mind splurging, this is certainly worth a visit.

Came here for the signature dish eggs on eggs on eggs even if I know it isn’t very good for my health… However, pretty amazed by the overall high level of the dishes, service, ambience. Even the bread is worth noting. Feels like house made to me. Somehow the main dish and the desert are slightly less impressive compared to first few courses but still excellent. As many have already mentioned, the view of the garden is great. I hope to visit again to have a different taste of the seasonality (the menu and the view)

Hands down, one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. I waited tables all through college and the service here was next level. They didn't miss a thing. And the food...just magnificent. We did the chef's tasting menu and the wine pairing and it was expensive, but well worth it. Not sure that we'll be making a return trip because of the price but it was something that everyone should splurge on at least once.

Great looking venue with beautiful lighting, flowers, and bar. The food was outstanding, but their portion size was rather small. $40 lamb entree had one thin slice of lamb- amazing taste, but not enough food. Wine was well paired but my glass was barely 1/4 full. Sea bass was awesome, as was their millefeuille chocolate dessert.

What a great dining experience this was. The tasting menu was made vegan for me and I had an exquisite series of dishes brought out. This is a great setting and a the service was outstanding. I was there for business and the experience was so good that I felt bad that I didn't have my wife with me. At least I know where I can take her next time I'm going to the city and it's a special night

The Modern has the entire hospitality experience completely dialed in. Even just the experience of sitting in the dining room is so darn civilized! The front of the house and the back of the house staff are so well versed and understand how to create an extraordinary evening for everyone. I’ve been here several times and it always wows me in every aspect. It’s like home for me and my go to restaurant in NYC.

My friend took me here for a birthday lunch. the service was wonderful, and the staff really tries to personalize for you (as they do at most Michelin star restaurants), the food was delicious as well. I don't know if I felt like it was outstanding, but their egg on egg on egg dish really stands out at least. There atmosphere is good although the barroom area is quite noisy, makes it feel a bit less upscale than other places in that area. But overall really great place to eat, would recommend if you are in Midtown, but I actually prefer the dining room portion because you can see outside from it. Specially, if it's a beautiful day it's nice to sit there.

This review is for the Bar Room as the actual restaurant will re open in September. We had a very early reservation and the place had few tables already seated with a younger chic crowd. I had a great martini to start and then the sommelier was very helpful recommending a bottle of Rose from their over 3,000 bottles wine list and also a great bottle of a Spanish white. I was also very please that he didn’t suggest the most valuable ones. The meal was pretty outstanding. My friend and I shared everything and we were very satisfied. Steak tartare was very fresh and tasty, chanterelle mushrooms very rich in a delicious way and great portion size, the tagliolini with black truffles and egg yolk was also very tasty. The wagyu steak was sublime and the burrata in it was a great surprise. As the evening progressed the crowd turned much much older but not fashionable nor artsy as expected. The biggest disappointment for me was our waiter. He perhaps had no previous experience but this is a 2 Michelin starred establishment so we expected best. He made us feel rushed, keep asking if we were ready to order, spilled water, the martini, huge pours of wine that made us feel that he wanted to turn the table asap. When I asked about about the pasta and the wagyu steak his reply was “well..they are very different” like if I didn’t know that or if I thought the pasta also came from the cattle. Will definitely come back because I am a neighbor and hopefully will have a better service.

We had dinner at the bar, before they had opened up the dining room again and it was a fantastic experience. The food was very good, I think they were a little busy so the service wasn’t quite at the level you’d expect but we didn’t mind. I’d definitely come back. The dining room is a great option if you don’t want to spend a decent chunk of change on dinner but still get to experience the great food. The oysters were a highlight.

Celebrated Wife’s birthday at the restaurant. We were in the Bar room. Overall a good restaurant and good food and portion size. The food options on the menu is not vegetarian friendly as there were only 4 choices and both the mains were mushroom based. The desert didn’t impress. The octopus was amazing and cocktails were decent

We order the frie chicken and was too sweet. The French fries were really good, crunchy. But not worth the price. All the dishes were very small. The peppers, artichoke salad has only 1 artichoke. The pumpkin with pork belly was tasty. The best was the dessert, chocolate and passion fruit.

We had The Kitchen Table experience last night. It was hands down the greatest dining experience of a lifetime. All the flavors surprised me. I have never had caviar so I was apprehensive when the eggs on eggs on eggs arrived but it was my favorite and I cannot wait to have it again. There was not one dish that was not utterly amazing. Getting to speak to all the chef’s and ask questions was icing on the cake. They made it such a special experience we felt like royalty.

BEST meal of my life!!!! I wish I could give this 6 stars because I truly fell in love with every dish. I am shocked why this 2 star Michelin restaurant doesn't have its third but I'm rooting for it. When you first walk in, the restaurant is split into an energetic, lively, casual dining area and then further back there's a more upscale, quieter area with a gorgeous view of the MoMa. My husband and I did the tasting menu and honestly every dish was fantastic and it's so hard to pick a favorite. I'd have to say the lobster and steak dishes were my favorites and then the chocolate dessert was incredible. Do not forget to have the whole grain sourdough bread that is crunchy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside with the most incredible butter. We each got 3 pieces because it was the best. And with that, our service was so perfect. Our waiter chatted with us after every entree and got genuinely excited for us after each dish. My waitress also recommended the amazing Guajillo cocktail- it had a great kick and it’s a little creamy! I've already told my friends it's the best fancy restaurant we've been to so we cannot wait to come back.

It was yummy, 4.8 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was yummy, the drinks were tasty, but the service definitely made the night. They brought us more brioche for eggs on eggs on eggs dish, and more bread with cranberry spread (delicious) as well. The bathrooms are fun, co-ed with enclosed bathroom stalls. At the end, our server took us on a quick kitchen tour. There's a Chef's table back there for those that are interested. Non-descript entrance btw, easy to miss. I will be back ^_^

I had an incredible experience at The Modern. Everything was perfect, from the kind and professional staff to the beautiful atmosphere and interior. If you're a foodie visiting the MoMA, this place is a must-visit. For your information, I ordered lunch four-course menu, which includes bread and butter. The food was not only delicious but also fascinating and artistic. While the scallop dish was a little bit disappointing, the famous first course (eggs on eggs on eggs) and main course, which I chose as the venison, were spot on. They were fresh, amazing, and delicious. I must say that I thoroughly appreciated the wine that was suggested to me, tailored to my preferences. It was a delightful experience. Since it was my graduation celebration lunch, they even brought out a special dessert with a cute mini candle for me, which was so heartwarming. It was a pistachio ice cream coated with cherry mousse, and to be honest, it was even better than the regular dessert, which was still quite good. It was the best cherry dessert I've ever had. At the end of the meal, Ulysses (I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling of his name) took me on a tour of the kitchen and gave me a special mini gift, which was both memorable and impressive. His passion and professionalism were truly top-notch. Overall, every moment at The Modern was awesome. I've been to many fine dining establishments in various countries, but The Modern definitely deserves its reputation. I'll definitely be visiting this amazing restaurant again the next time I'm in New York.

The Modern is a great dining experience and a fantastic way to break up the day when visiting MOMA. I went for lunch in the dining room and had the 4 course menu. It included the 4 courses plus the bread. Each course was delicious in its own way, but the famous eggs on eggs on eggs really stood out. The extra brioche is a nice tough too cause you'll certainly want more. They have an extensive wine and cocktail list, and I was very happy with the affordability of the whole experience given how they have 2 stars. Service was attentive and never felt rushed. I was dining solo, so the extra little chit chat with me from the staff is always welcome (but never expected). My only disappointment was when leaving, I didn't want to subtract a star from this since it was outside the dining experience, but I wasn't let back into the museum. I called a few days earlier and asked if I could reenter from the restaurant and they said yes as long as you show your ticket. I had my ticket out but was told I need to go outside and reenter through the main entrance. Well unfortunately it was pouring and the line was quite long. Just be aware that if you're dining you probably won't be let back into the museum.

Life altering meal alert 🚨 The dinner tasting menu at The Modern was the best compilation of bites that have ever entered my mouth. While you will do serious damage to your savings while dining at this 2-Michelin Star establishment, you will forget your financial troubles as you scarf down caviar, truffles, lobster, wagyu, king crab, otoro, foie gras, and diver scallop. I am usually no fan of such opulence in a single meal being forced down your throat, but this felt like the Super Bowl of fine dining. Nothing was over the top, nothing was out of place, every bite was more delicious than the last. All the plates were familiar flavors taken to the absolute extreme of how delicious they could become. The standouts were the “eggsoneggsoneggs”, truly the best vehicle for eating caviar I have ever experienced. Dunking buttery, toasted brioche in them took me back to childhood of soft-boiled eggs but for adults. Everything else was insane too. Black truffle raviolo, lobster topped with jamon, and the wagyu with bourdelaise. It’s not like you get to pick, but there are no safer hands for a gyrating food experience than those of Thomas Allan. The service was impeccable, they would wipe your butt for you if you allowed them to. My one knock is the dining room feels a little bit cold and not cozy at all. It’s like you are there for strictly business and that business is eating like a king. The Amigo tip would be to go early and sit at the bar so you can order the wagyu hot dog topped in caviar as you wait for your table. Also, ask for a tour of the kitchen as it is run like military unit on a food mission. Unbelievable 10/10.

I thought the duck liver was too salty. Then after I finished the duck liver, I waited 35min for the wagyu steak to come out. For some reason, the steak tasted like liver. Perhaps because it wasn't properly bled out or stored? It was very chewy. Maybe I just don't know how to enjoy this food.

One place checked off my bucket list. This place was magnificent. From the time, we arrived everyone made us feel welcomed. The place is beautiful. The food was terrific. The taste, the smell, the plating. On the way out, I noted to my wife the kitchen. Someone from the kitchen noticed her looking quickly and impromptu offered us a tour of the kitchen. We got to talk to the head chef for a good time. He told us how they were only open for 9 days since closing for the pandemic. Man what an experience! I can't wait to go again.

Lunch at the Bar Room of the Modern. Food was good but nothing spectacular, unfortunately (dessert was just meh and disappointing) Service was kinda sloppy for a restaurant of this caliber and rating (had to ask for steak knives for lamb dish, etc...). Maybe the experience is better at the main dining area, but I'm glad I didn't choose the tasting menu considering I was not impressed at all with the lunch 😩

absolutely amazing meal and outstanding drinks. their espresso martinj is one of the best i've had. i thought the oysters and the caviar toast were incredible. i think the starters were all very creative and delicious. i think the main (steak) was good, but not on the same level as the starters. the dessert was also spot-on. the service here is incredible- great experience through and through! ask for the bar menu if you aren't sitting at the bar... that's where the fried chicken and caviar toast are!

What's so special about a restaurant at The Museum of Modern Art? EVERYTHING! The friendliness of the staffs are not fake from the entrance to the table. The service was attentive & welcoming. The food? Well, let me start with the Egg on egg on egg. It was unbelievably fantastic. The bread was so fresh, I had about 5! Every item on the prefix menu was amazing. Will definitely come back for dinner.

It was a wonderful experience! I would love to come back again!! I visited here was before pandemic… so it might be a little different now. I took my foodie friends who are visiting from Japan. Wanted them to have a good experience in NY. They both loved it.🤍 normally a friend doesn’t take a food photos and upload on SSN but she did it! We had a course menu with wine pairing, it was a great idea. Each dishes were so beautiful and perfect. Like an art. And l felt a story. Perfect balance. The hospitality was great too. They made us very comfortable and we could enjoy all dishes. We were last customer, but they didn’t let us leave quickly or make us feel uncomfortable. I understand why they can keep two Michelin star so long. They didn't us disappoint at all.(some one star place are not really good🤫) I highly recommend 🤍

A truly exceptional meal—perhaps the first true two-star Michelin experience we’ve had in Manhattan (surpassing other 3* in NYC earned through celebrity and not substance). All around an absolute pleasure for all the senses. There were several twists that worked very well like bringing the bread after the third course. Another was the diversity of the servers presenting the dishes while still maintaining our head server’s role prominently—it felt very appropriate in a city like NYC. This paired well with the flawless composition and execution of the dishes and the serene yet sensory rich atmosphere. Two stars fully earned!!!

I have been craving ramen for a while now and this did not disappoint! I got the seafood ramen and it was incredibly tasty. It's a little on the salty side, but for me that's a major plus (may not be for everyone). Service staff is super friendly and nice. We came in on a Saturday night and did not have to wait for a table which was great! Definitely would recommend.

Went their for anniversary maybe a year ago, had the chefs tasting. The food was just ok, compared to other Michelin restaurants. The service was extremely slow and obviously they were short of staffs for the price that they charged us. The table next to us, came later but got their next course earlier than us. After we had the lobster and waiting for the next course, the waitress brought the same dish to us, and already presented to us, after we told her we already had that course, she brought the dish back to another table!! Unbelievable for a two star restaurant. The savory dish was better than their desserts. The petit four was mango wrapped yogurt/ ice cream, looked cheap and not nice. You can have better service and food for the money that you paid in other Michelin restaurants.

One of the only times I've truly been impressed by the execution of a caviar dish. The plating at the Modern, was definitely some of the more impressive preparations I've had. Technically sound dishes well balanced with textures, and flavors. The definition of a once in a while treat. The decor of the restaurant is very unique, with the outer windows going directly into the sculpture garden of the MOMA. With interior decorations stark white as ballerinas throughout the restaurant. I don't know if I'm a repeat customer to the Modern, but I certainly don't regret the first visit.

We were greeted warmly by Olivia, who helped us to find our hotel. All the staff at this restaurant were so welcoming that we ate there both nights of our stay. The garlic bread was delicious, as were the burgers and short ribs. Even though it was mid-week in February, the restaurant was busy. The sunset was spectacular and could be seen from the picture window as we ate. I would love to go back there one day.

They have earned their Michelin star. The food was outstanding and the restaurant was extremely friendly and accommodating, not pretentious as one might’ve thought. I have been here several times and the service, wine and menu have always been far above my expectations. Many great memories have been spent here and I would suggest it to anyone who’s looking for a next level restaurant in Manhattan.

The food was delicious, as expected. Minus the fish. It was a bit fishy. Either it was overcooked or not as fresh. (Who knows. I'm not an expert.) As for ambiance, the dining room itself was really nice. The background music and noise was just right and not overwhelming. But the staff was congregating a lot in the middle of the dining floor. Wine pairing was on spot and overall hospitality was exceptional. Overall, I liked it. Just don't order the fish if you're particular about seafood.

I had their bbq wings and the meatloaf plate. Both were very good. Also drank me a Moscow mule, it was tasty as well. The serving sizes are plentiful! Our server, Crystal, was really nice and polite. Will come back and try other dishes on their menu, most definitely!!!

It goes without saying that The Modern has one of the city’s most prized locations, designed to capture the iconic feel of the MoMA in which it is seamlessly housed. Art enthusiasts have always appreciated its timeless and glorious surrounds; and thanks to an ambitious nip-tuck, they are sure to notice the improved acoustics, which facilitate quiet conversation and match the calm of the view over the sculpture garden. Chef Abram Bissell and crew are wowing these globe-trotting patrons with excellent food and warm, well-timed service. Banana bread pudding with Armagnac crème anglaise comes encased in a chocolate cylinder and is topped with banana ice cream for a treat that will leave you with sweet dreams.

This review is for the Bar Room of The Modern restaurant next to the MOMA museum at 9 West 53rd street . Took a friend for his birthday. Beautiful interior - the name fits ! Started with cocktail of martini which are strong. Got the oyster starter and it was strongly flavored, I'd recommend it . The gem lettuce salad has a buttermilk type dressing so if you don't like that don't get it . The salmon was amazing ! The bread is really tasty too and I asked for an extra on it . Waitstaff is really nice , and professional but never stuffy .The Sommelier gets extra points here for pouring me a taste first and when I didn't really like it (too minerally ) suggested another great wine which I liked a lot . Peach dessert was really surprising and delicious . Bathroom are co-ed . Not a cheap place but good and if you are near MOMA their cool bar area is great to stop in and relax .

We came here for my birthday. The service was exceptional! I felt so welcomed. That’s worth a lot in my book! It’s expensive here but it’s a place worth the money spent. This is rare nowadays. The food was outstanding, creative and well presented. Great cocktails and wine selection. We’ll be back when we want to treat ourselves again. Appreciated the great experience, thank you!

Everything was absolutely incredible, as usual! We eat here every time we come to the city. You do need to book in advance and put a deposit down to be able to reserve a table. However, the do have a “bar side” of the restaurant that you have a good chance of getting into but that side doesn’t offer the tasting menu. With that, the tasting menu is amazing! You can also add a wine pairing with it which is very good! We also added the truffle dish with our pairing for an added cost and we were so happy we did! Basically the food, service, drinks, and atmosphere is incredible, our server was Steve and he was great! I would highly recommend coming here. It is a two Michelin star restaurant so obviously it will be expensive but so worth the money! Online they do have a formal dress code, so keep that in mind as well.

Went to The Modern and was not disappointed. For starters we ordered the steak tartare with crispy potatoes and the kanpachi with green apple and seaweed vinaigrette, with both being exceptional. For the entrees we ordered the heritage pork, stewed plums and mustard greens and black bass with shelling beans, anchovy broth and chicories, with both again being excellent. To pair with the food we ordered 2 drinks, a paper plane and spiced pear. We both preferred the paper plane, which was out of this world, but both drinks again, were excellent! Oh, and the bread served before the meal was amazing. Fresh out of the oven! Overall it was an exceptional experience.

We did their kitchen seating which only one table is available and it was spectacular. Not only was the food amazing, you got to meet most of the cooks and watch them make the food and see how it's all done. Each plate was brought over to us by a different cook and they explained in detail the ingredients and how it was made. At the end of the night, we got a signed menu and got a picture taken with the entire cook staff.

This restaurant is the vanguard of fine dining in the city. The food is never short of delicious and playful, the hospitality is authentic and warm, the service is down to a science. I've been here twice (once for the tasting menu at the kitchen table, and again for a la carte in the bar room), and the experience blew me away each time. I'll be back soon for bubbles and buckets at the bar!

Had my birthday lunch at the kitchen table with a friend and it was one of the most fun dining experiences we’ve ever had. Each dish was outstanding and was served by one of the chefs who prepared it, all of whom were warm and eager to talk to us about the kitchen, their process, and what we were up to. It’s also the most expensive meal I’ve ever had. Like wow pricey, but hey, it’s a once in a long time thing and this was our pick for a Michelin Star restaurant experience during our visit to the city. We’re happy we picked The Modern, it was worth it.

The Modern is a 2 Star Michelin restaurant located beside the MoMA on West 53rd Street in the Kenneth C Griffin building overlooking the Rockefeller sculpture garden. Dishes are cooked expertly, prepared beautifully and portions are generous. My only comment is that the price of the prix fixe could be lowered by removing the caviar for the signature dish (it is a slightly overpriced) but otherwise an excellent restaurant in a beautiful setting.

Must visit, no questions! Service was outstanding, and there was someone always there to help. The food was terrific and full of surprises The wine menu was impressive. Loved the intimate feel in such a large restaurant. Everything is perfect, from entrees to deserts. If you are looking for that wow factor, look no further! I’m not a good critic, but I’ve been to multiple Michelin star restaurants and this is one of the best!

The food is delicious, although it does lack a wow factor for that shock to your taste buds. It's not bad, but you'll know you've tasted something similar before. What I loved was the service. Knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, perfect.

I genuinely don't know where to start. The food was impeccable, it is difficult to explain how amazing my 4 course lunch at the Modern was. It was undoubtedly the best fine dining experience I have had at a 2-Star Michelin restaurant. The service was flawless and matched the class of the food/venue.

If you’re traveling to NYC and you plan on dining at The Modern, upgrade to the Kitchen Table for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Most chef’s tables accommodate a small number of guests, so the kitchens are small. Here you get full view of a massive kitchen that serves dozens of customers at a given time (at the two Michelin star caliber, no less!). Everyone knew what they were doing at their stations. The kitchen worked like a living organism. The starters are extremely memorable. I can see why “eggs on eggs on eggs” is their signature dish: you cannot remove or replace any single component or the harmony falls apart, much like Keller’s salmon cornet. I disdain caviar because usually it’s an afterthought to jack up prices. This here is a true caviar dish, where everything works to highlight caviar’s attributes. The caviar cannot be removed. On their current lunch prix fixe menu, the chilled tuna with smoked eggplant and coriander dashi is a must-try. It’s the best raw fish appetizer I’ve had—I dare day it exceeded even the “eggs on eggs on eggs”. These two dishes on their own make me want to dine at The Modern again. The only negative: the service from the waitstaff felt neglectful and unwelcoming, maybe because the Kitchen Table is in a secluded area. Thankfully, the kitchen staff stepped it up and saved the day! Especially towards the end, where my polaroid photo got misplaced (never even saw it) and I was unhappy with the photos on my phone. The waitstaff already scurried away; the kitchen staff noticed without my saying anything and they offered to retake the photos. They came out much better! The service from the kitchen staff, including all the tiny conversations, far exceeded the service at most restaurants.

The Modern is hands down one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Everything was flawless from A-Z and it has honestly become one of the most special memories in my lifetime now. My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our 2-year anniversary during lunch time and we decided on the Prix Fixe (150 per person) option, which comes with 4 courses. For the first course, they bless you with a dish called the "eggs on eggs on eggs", which is a nicely presented dish with a poached egg yolk with egg custard, caviar, and a perfectly toasted brioche garnished with pickled onion and dill. It was an AMAZING start to the meal and they give you additional brioche to ensure that you appropriately scoop as much of the dish as you can. For the second and third course, we got the hiramasa with yuzu, radish and frozen olive oil and the scallop with celeriac ravioli, aged parmesan and spinach, as well as the grilled lobster, romaine lettuce and spicy chorizo and the venison glazed in cognac with turnips and black truffle. Everything was wonderful, but we especially loved the hiramasa and the venison dishes. The hiramasa and yuzu concoction is extremely refreshing and the venison is the best I've ever had / basically melted in your mouth. I would highly recommend picking these two together. Lastly, for the fourth/dessert course, we chose the chocolate tart with buckwheat and milk ice cream and the lemon frozen yogurt with black sesame. We were both in awe, and for me, I was especially in awe at the lemon frozen yogurt dessert dish. It was so aesthetically beautiful and I loved the crunchy texture that was added. It felt like a deconstructed lemon bar, but on steroids. Since it was our anniversary, the chef kindly sent over an additional dessert that was influenced by the classic dole whip, which was a pleasant surprise and was absolutely delicious too (especially because there was a candle included. So cute!). Also, the classic cocktails are so well-made here! I highly recommend the espresso martini, the dirty martini, and the manhattan. Overall, we loved this restaurant SO much, but what greatly stood out to us was the service and the kitchen. Our server, Ulysses, was easily one of the best servers we have ever been graced with. He is literally the epitome of a perfect server - personable, funny, charming, genuine, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and professional. During our trip, he surprised us with a kitchen tour where we got to meet the head chef, Tom Allen, as well as the kitchen staff, and I swear, I am still thinking about all the emotions I felt there. My boyfriend and I had never been to a true Michelin star restaurant and we are always watching YouTube videos about how a successful NYC restaurant runs, and to be immersed into it, be given the chance to take photos, and to meet the head chef (who is SUCH a cool, talented, welcoming, and friendly guy too by the way) and hardworking team, I couldn't help but get teary eyed in there. This is a very long review, but I wanted to tell our story as best as I could, so that you can vividly understand how phenomenal this restaurant is. I absolutely encourage everyone to visit this restaurant at least once because it is an experience of a lifetime! Thank you so much again to Ulysses and the Modern for everything :)

Stunning location within MoMa. Had the 4-course menu over lunch. Produce was top notch, however dishes lacked the final refinement I know and expect from a 2-star venue. Eggs amuse was fantastic. Scallop starter was well designed but way too salt forward in execution. Same goes for the lobster, I also found some residual shell pieces on the tail. Cheese selection was fantastic again. Service was professional, not overly personal but on par. I'm tempted to give 3 stars because, in my opinion, food was borderline oversalted, and execution was not on par. But I'll go with 4 for the benefit of the doubt since wine selection and cocktail also were to a high standard. Maybe the kitchen just had a bad day.

The Modern earned its 3 Michelin stars in each perfectly thoughtful, well executed bite. For me food is art, I came to the Museum of Modern Art museum because it happened to be attached to the Modern restaurant and appreciated that perusing the museum would be a wonderful experience. The din positively wowed me, starting with the eggs on eggs and eggs. I didn’t think I would like this course because the egg custard appeared pretty runny, but it was absolutely delightful, and I ended up wanting to lick my plate. Even if each course weren’t utter perfection, the Modern was slated to dazzle, as a solo lady diner, I was afforded the best seat in the house. At the apex of the window and corner seat, perched overlooking MOMAS sculpture garden, the dining rooms juxtaposion of modern and classic, earth and human, an embodiment of the food itself. The tasting progressed to a white fish ceviche in basil Dashi broth it was both tart, floral. Then a lobster course, the lobster was reverse grilled, but I’m not sure how the technique yielded its consistency. It was like butter. The taglioni with white truffle supplement was heavenly coated in an incredibly generous, serving of rarest of all, white alba truffle. If a fourth Michelin star were possible The Modern certainly would’ve earned it today, in my opinion, one of the best restaurants in New York City. Big thank you to Michelin guide for being such a reliable resource for discerning dining recommendations. ⭐️⭐️⭐️🍽️🥂

I like to enjoy a meal while viewing museums garden. Meals are perfect if I don't have any allergies. Gluten-free bread is fried bread and has a lot of oil. It use avocado as a substitute for shrimp.

  • 5/5 Terence W. 5 months ago on Google
The restaurant was sort of hidden in the corner and the security had to open the door for us. Once inside, we saw that it was an excellent environment, looking out to the courtyard of MoMA. We came for lunch, and there was the option of 4 course prix fixe vs 5 course tasting menu. The appetizer "eggs on eggs on eggs", is a signature dish, and tastes as good as it looks. The next course we picked lobster salad and scallop, the ingredients were top notch but the sauce really added another dimension. Our entree choices were duck and beef, and while the beef was very good, the duck was unparalleled in that the meat was tender (not chewy) while the skin was crispy, through and through flavorful. Finally we had the chocolate tart and lemon froyo. Putting lemon together with sesame is an inspired decision, wouldn't have thought of it myself. Great meal, worth the accolades.

It was a great experience! Our lovely hostess was Jenna truly delightful person made sure our food is catered to us and made it Halal friendly, no pork no alcohol no gelatine. Before our dessert Jenna brought to us a complimentary sorbet which was refreshing and complimentary chocolate to go. We had the tasting menu it was delicious and the service was great.
