Overall an afternoon well spent with family , friends with great food and drinks A great place to hang out with friends or family. The food is excellent be it a simple salad or a juicy burger or a nice pasta dish. Plenty of kid friendly options The cocktails too were v good . We tried the mimosa , espresso martini and I got adventurous and had the third wheel which had three different kinds of alcohol.

It was cute! Great service for a group outside. They left sparkling and still on the table 🙏🏽 The shrimp and grits was good, not in a southern way but in a “this doesn’t completely suck” way. The cocktails were also good!

🅱🅰🅳 🅷🅾🆂🆃🅴🆂🆂, 🅶🆁🅴🅰🆃 🅵🅾🅾🅳 Perhaps it's typical Manhattan, for me it's not acceptable. The restaurant was hopping, but there was plenty of room for everyone. I requested a table for two and was told I could not be seated until the other person arrived. I said to myself, self, does it really make a difference or do you truly have tables for one? Because I was in front of the door, cold, and hungry, I said OK, fine. Give me a table for one because I have arrived. She said yes, we can do that right away. I said very good I will let my guest know that they weren't welcome or available to be seated. She said OK, sounds great. OK, finally I was able to get back to my table. It was set for four people. That added to my angst. The waitress was phenomenal. Their signature steak was incredible. I love the green peppercorn sauce. The mashed potatoes were delicious, and the spinach side was decadent. to finish things off I had a piece of the apple pie which was also fresh and delicious. Had it not been the hostess, this would have been a terrific experience. my guest know that once they take care of the hostess problem this is probably a good spot. The one star for service was only for the hostess. The waitress was excellent.

Very full on the weekend. Tried the egg Benedict, quite nice with homemade potatoes in the side. And must try sticky date pudding, so goooddd, warm soft fluffy sticky date served with ice cream. Really worth the calories 😋

Waiter really nice but the kitchen extremely slow, it took 1h and 37 minutes to bring us the first dishes, we felt forgotten. I understand that we were a big group of 11 but there is noe excuse for the latesness. Mac and cheese not that great, too much, cheese too strong, did not succeeded in the group. We are very disappointed with this place.

Delicious spot for brunch for sure. We had coffee and french toast and it was delicious. Coffee wasn’t great tbh, that’s why I gave 4 stars. They brought us both water and carbonated water. But we had to sit by the bathroom which wasn’t the best. French toasts is definitely huge and enough for two people.

Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience at The Smith in NYC. The atmosphere is definitely an upscale feeling, and it is definitely $$$. I don’t recommend coming here if you’re worried about pinching Pennies. I ordered one of the burgers, it came out in a timely fashion and tasted amazing. The fries were a little too thin cut, but there was a good portion, and they were nice and crispy. The bartender was great. I forget his name but he was very attentive, prompt, and made tasty drinks. Recommended if you’re looking for a more upscale experience in the specific area.

Delicious food. Very nice place and the staff is very friendly. We ordered both breakfast and lunch with a large party of 6. The BLT-E breakfast sandwich is amazing, they do charge more for it on the lunch menu which lunch begins at 1130 so be mindful of that if you want breakfast. I got the steak and eggs and it was fantastic. Our party had the BLT-E, steak and eggs, shrimp scampi, Mac and cheese, steak burger and everything was phenomenal. Will add all photos when I can but highly recommend!

This was my first visit to the 2nd avenue location. We had reservations for 11:00 and were met with bright smiles and quickly seated. It was so close to noon our waitress offered us the option of the lunch or breakfast menu. Our group ordered off both menus and the six of us agreed we had made a great choice to try this location. I have included some photosphere of entrees ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Super fun I recommend the mac and cheese it was the best I’ve ever had. They have a Photo Booth in the basement. Very nice service

Came in to experience the hype. The service was amazing! Even though it was very busy, our waitress was very attentive and supremely nice with us. The food was good but not great. Also, the wine we ordered did not come at the right temperature which kinda threw off the flavors. The desserts were absolutely delicious. I'll try coming one more time to see if I have a better experience when it's less busy (I came in a Thursday night).

While there are numerous other spots that offer bottomless brunches in that area -- we went here based on recommendations. The portions were ample. The service was exceptional. My husband said the hollandaise sauce was one of the best he has come across -- only thing missing --- bottomless beverages :)

My cousins and I found this place while visiting New York. We made reservations for brunch and when we arrived were seated at our table very quickly. The atmosphere and the servers were nice also service was good. The food was very good as well. I tried their take on shrimp n grits and I really liked it. I couldn't eat it all so I ate it later that night and it was just as good. One of my cousins had the vanilla bean French toast with caramelized bananas and maple butter, which I tried, and it was great. A little on the sweet side but it was light and airy at the same time. Not dense like most French toast I've had. They even gave us a cute little post card. Only thing that caught me a little off guard was that they had only one gender neutral bathroom. It had about 8 stalls all of which I assume lock (mine did) but wouldn't be comfortable if i had children with me. Overall we really enjoyed this place and would definitely go back to try something new.

The Smith was a good place to have an indulgent lunch. So glad we go there at 11 because by the time we ordered the place was swamped! Must be a fan favorite! Definitely try the spicy salmon! It’s was a great dish to share with a group!

The Smith offers a great atmosphere both inside and out. Their drink menu offers a good selection of a variety of drinks, the brunch menu was interesting and varied as well. The food overall was good, but lacked seasoning and a little extra to push it over the edge.

A high energy restaurant serving American food. Definitely for the 30-something set. The food was good but not outstanding, service was good. But it's a large space inside, with tiles on the walls, so it's very loud.

The pancakes with blue berries and lemon were excellent. Just enough to satisfy my hungry but not feel over full. Coffee is excellent. Though the art on the coffee looked more like an onion 😂 Service was great. Water at the table was cold and refreshing. Would return

Very nice place with ambiance. My pancakes were yummy and the portion was big, I regretted I had not been able to eat everything. We got scones while waiting for breakfast. Service was really nice, the place itself spacious, clean and rather empty (Friday after 8am, October). Downside - a bit pricey. What I found interesting was a photo booth in the toilets!

Delicious spot for brunch! French toast was really good. We loved the hummus but wish there were more veggies and crackers/pita with it. Highly recommend the earl grey tea.

Great outdoor ambiance (lots of tables, spread out nicely with decor). I went here with some friends for brunch on a Sunday, and had a very nice time. The food was fine - it didn’t blow my mind, it was the expected brunch food. But I found that it was lacking in the service (a bit slow for the food/drinks as well as paying the bill). For food, we ordered the Vanilla bean French toast (light and fluffy), The Smith Eggs Benedict (Eggs were cooked well but was overall kind of bland and missing the extra punch of flavors), the Omelette, and a side of fries (great). Pros: -Great outdoor space - Nice ambiance, not too loud, or overcrowded -Good menu options (there are actually a lot of things to choose from, not just a limited menu if 10 items) -There is still water and carbonated water to drink - brought in bottles for the table Cons: -Service could be better, more check-ins if there was anything else we needed (eg; more drinks/food, and paying the bill was pretty slow) -Food was fine, nothing crazy though -Portion size for certain things was lacking (after my meal, I ordered a tea, and it was barely over half full… kind of crazy to pay for a $4.50 for tea that barely had any hot water). Also wish there was milk or sugar offered with it. Overall, not bad - I was still able to have a great time with my friends, but would likely try another place for brunch next time.

Went there for dinner tonight and it was just okay. They had outside and inside seating which is nice to have that option. The decor is nice inside and cozy. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka entree and it was pretty good. My boyfriend ordered the brick pressed chicken and he did not like it. He's not a complainer but he had to send it back. The main complaint was how the chicken tasted. It was rubbery in the middle and the taste was horrible. The drinks weren't the greatest either. I had the Moscow mule and it wasn't worth the $15. I barely could taste the ginger beer. Overall, it was a cute restaurant but definitely will not be back.

I wish I can give Omar a 10 stars instead of 5 here. Aside from the delicious NY Strip Steak and the wonderful oysters (highly recommend!), he honestly made this experience. The utmost epitome of what a waiter should be. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and social. The environment was excellent. Will be back particularly to this location very soon. Thank you for the great experience.

We had an amazing experience at The Smith in Midtown East. Food came out really quickly and everything was delicious! We'll definately be back for brunch. Michael, our waiter, was extremely accomodating of our toddler and was very attentive. When we told him we were celebrating a special ocassion, he brought us prosecco for the entire table!

On a rainy Saturday morning we went to The Smith for brunch. We ordered: The Smith Eggs Benedict, The Smith Burger, lemonade, latte and for dessert Chocolate Sunday with black cherries. Every thing was delicious, great atmosphere and fantastic service.

One of the best restaurants in Manhattan. Service was very quick and friendly for a busy Saturday night. The food came out perfect and is worth every penny. The bartender who served us was very polite and always checks up on us.

Good place to get breakfast, seems like the favorite was the French toast. If I were to come back I’d get the pancakes. The Benedict didn’t have as much flavor as I’d like and the quality of the ham wasn’t on par what I’d expected. The egg was probably the best part.

Solid food in a food location. The calamari wasn't too chewy and the burgers filling. The fries were also good. Nothing spectacular about the food but nothing bad.

Great food and service! The Smith team provided the utmost care for us during our visit. The food was delicious. They recommended great options and were very amenable to making accommodations for any dietary needs. There was something for everyone on the menu.

Last night visiting New York decided to have a casual dinner so tried The Smith and we were not disappointed. The potato chips with blue cheese fondue was outstanding. The service and dinner entry's were great too. Would definitely return next time in NYC.

It was nice dinner. Our table was ready for us when we arrived. The staff made good recommendations and we enjoyed our dinner. Roast pork was tender, the broccoli and white bean side was the star of that show. It was a creative mix of otherwise ho-hum ingredients that really made the dish sparkle. Sticky toffee pudding was big, but could've used more ice cream. Overall as desserts go, still as enjoyable as anything you can find.

The food was good. The staff was very nice. The music was a bit loud so it was hard to have a conversation. The only reason for my 4 star review, is that I don't believe the price is reasonable. I had the Spaghetti Bolognese. It wasn't bad - definitely not the best I had. But $24?! I don't think the price matches the expectations. Also, they should put some coat hangers. The chairs are light weights. When you put the coat on the back of the chair, and stand up, the chair will most likely to fall back.

I was looking for a place to have a quick bite while I waited for my dog's grooming appointment. I found The Smith, walked in and was seated immediately. The staff was very pleasant, they checked on me every time they walked past me to see if I needed anything. I had the Smoke Salmon Benny with home fries and a mimosa, the English muffin melts in your mouth. I really enjoyed the food and will be going back.

So glad my husband and I decided to try this place out! Food, drinks, and service were excellent! We had calamari as an app (delicious!), ribeye and burger were great as well! Highly recommend making reservations, as it was pretty busy. Luckily a waiter spotted us searching for a seat at the bar (which is full service btw) and accommodated us with an outdoor table! 10/10!

Late review, but experience is worth leaving great review. Took in brunch on New Year's Day, had never been to The Smith before. New Year's was, understandably crowded, yet the staff made sure to move the line along, offering us a corner table just as it was opening up. The atmosphere was nice, although you can't control the voice volume of any table, the girls talking loudly about themselves at the next table was the ONLY drawback of the atmosphere. The jalapeño grits were a-maz-ing!! His burger and my meatless burger were both fresh and very tasty. Our coffee was the right touch to a wonderful meal and we both were comfortably full. We hope to be back again, or try another Smith location just to mix it up.

I got the Smith Burger — I love this burger. The bacon scallion jam is fantastic on it. The Mac n Cheese was very rich/cheesy, not for the lactose intolerant but perfect for a cheese lover. The Arancini was new for me and very very tasty. It’s like a savory fried rice ball. Sounds odd but is really good. The service at this location lacked but the food makes up for it.

Delicious healthy dish to start for my breakfast as my salty treat - Avocado toast with poached eggs, then The Amazing taste of French Vanilla Toast as a sweet treat to end my remarkable time at Brunch. You won't regret!

I’ve been eating here for over a decade I guess. Or close to it. Originally I’d stop by the one further downtown when I lived on 11th Street. I don’t know if there’s anything earth shattering I can add other than to point out the food is great, the ambiance and decor are superb, and the joint is just an all around good spot. Easily can bring a date, meet a buddy and treat the family. I live in Queens now and guess I have dinner at one of the various locations at least once a month. Never disappoints.

I got the avocado toast which was a delight!! Mocha was good but was a bit sweet for me. My friends had the Mediterranean salad and the egg Benedict and they were also very happy with the taste and everything! Totally recommend this place.

Great brunch spot and generous portions. Very large indoor seating with decent sized patio. Got the croissant BLT and was super fresh. Fries are quite thin and crispy. Good vibes and can probably accommodate larger groups.

Absolutely phenomenal - as always. I have only been here for Brunch before (which I HIGHLY recommend. Also a note: MAKE RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE. If you try and show up for a table, it is typically booked up). Sam was a fantastic host. He recommended the Cucumber Loco, which was great (sweet but not TOO sweet; very refreshing and it hit the perfect spot). As an entree I had the lobster roll. Fresh and juicy. They did not skimp out on the lobster meat at all. And the aioli really compliments it! The arugula was great with it, too. Didn't need anything else with it. Even the fries didn't need salt. Overall, extremely delicious. Will definitely be coming back for lunch -- and maybe dinner too!

9pm inside reservation. Great service from start to finish. As a vegan caught in a carnivore world sometimes going going out for dinner can be a challenge. The smith had a “few” non meat options and a big plus their fries are cooked in a meat/seafood free fryer. I enjoyed the vegan burger but I added their mustard to it. Yum. Spicy. Fantastic. The corn and avocado salad was pretty tasty. The shaved fennel was a great surprise. So tasty. Wine options were a plenty. The moscato d’asti was refreshing. May go back and sit at the counter for it. Nice environment. Great COVID precautions upon entry. Thanks for asking for my card. I appreciate it, it made me feel more comfortable going out to eat. (The husband had their Cesar salad, daily special oysters, rib eye, blueberry pie).

We came here for brunch with friends - nothing special. I had a BLT+E and everyone else had a Benedict. My sandwich wasn’t good at all - bacon was over cooked (very hard, burned and difficult to bite), egg was undercooked (I ordered a fried egg, well done and I got a runny egg), and there was too much mayo. We all liked the breakfast potatoes though.

Food was terrific! Brunch at 11am Saturday avocado toast and everything croissant with bacon, egg , Atmosphere was good we sat outside . We had a reservation we arrived promptly and our table was ready and waiting . Staff was friendly , efficient and courteous . Prices are what you would expect for location and caliber of food and service. Brunch for 2 including fresh squeezed mimosa’s and coffee was 80.$

We were in NYC for the weekend and this spot for brunch is amazing. The food was full of flavor and delicious. We weren't disappointed at all, service was excellent. Food was beyond expectations. The music inside bathroom stalls was very intense and loud, maybe intentional but not sure. I have a sensitive stomach and none of this food bothered me one bit. My mother had the French Toast and my fiancée had the Pancakes. They were both very pleased and ate more than usual. Definitely worth a drop in, especially if you're not local and want a meal to remember.

My weekend Shrimp with grits is really great, creamy and flavorful. Salad was fresh and well mixed in. Service is good (but can be slow when busy). Price is on the higher side even as in Manhattan. Very very crowded spot, strongly recommend to make reservations especially on weekends.

  • 3/5 Justin P. 1 year ago on Google
The food in my opinion wasn’t that good and was definitely not worth the price. I’ve had mussels at a lot of other places and they typically have a good sauce that comes with it however, the pot of mussels here were very dry and bland. The drinks and appetizers were my favorite part I got the fried calamari for the appetizer and I tried the Granny Smith and the Espresso Martini and both of them were really good. I would recommend getting seating inside and booking a reservation ahead of time because I feel like the experience is completely different.

We had a great experience. We went for New Year’s Eve with my family and friends. From 7:30 to 12:30. Service was great, food delicious, and the ambience even better. What was amazing is that pricing was just on point. Wouldn’t say cheap but nothing in NYC is, however the price was fair for the great service and food.

Absolutely the best chicken dish I have ever had at a restaurant; perfectly seasoned and cooked. Flavor was superb! Loved the busy atmosphere without having to wait for a table, and our waiter Omar kept us laughing. Will be back!

Always a solid and consistent experience at the Smith at any location. Loud and exciting crowd and broad menu and cocktails. The blue cheese chips are a solid starter. I enjoyed the jalapeño bread Benedict, which was filling. Avocado toast is always a favorite. Bathrooms are downstairs and clean. Make a reservation.

My fourth or fifth time at the Smith was just a delicious as all the other times. Avocado toast and churro waffles were so good, although the avocado toast needed some salt (but for me, everything does…) the breakfast scramble was also delicious. The latte was hot and tasty. Service was great. Consistency is key and they are consistent!
