Not usually a fan of French restaurants but had to try this given all hype. Went there for brunch. Got the puff and eggs and the omelette. The omelette and the bread were nothing to rave about but the puff pastry with eggs was amazing. Not much else for vegetarians. For dessert we got the creme brûlée which was amazing. Frankly, it might be a good spot for non vegetarians but as a vegetarian this restaurant was pretty average.

This is one of my favorite places to go while in Manhattan. Consistently good with wonderful service. The atmosphere is like sitting in a great brasserie in Paris while eating moules and frites. The profiterole’s for dessert are perfect. Make reservations in advance as they are necessary.

Make a reservation as soon as possible!! Great place for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Had lunch with couple of friends today and it was lovely! Love the cozy ambiance of French bistro feel to it and food was amazing and hands down to their dessert. They do offer amazing selection of raw bar. As starters we had oysters and clams and follow with their famous escargot w/ garlic butter, steak and fries as well as utilizing the bread to soak up the garlic butter from escargots sauce!! Dessert selection was amazing and we had their famous Pavlova + Caramelized Banana Ricotta Tart. A MUST TRY! 👍🏼👍🏼 Service was impeccable from waiter to the peripheral support staffs. Everyone is super attentive. I or we would defiantly come back soon.

Service was amazing but the food wasn’t good at all. We got the tuna appetizer and the tuna itself was low quality and chewy. The cheese tart appetizer was ok at best, and for an expensive restaurant you’d expect the bread to come out warmed or toasted but it was cool and tasted like it had been sitting in a plastic container all day. If you want to stop here, stop in briefly for the service and maybe a couple drinks, but save your money and your appetite for one of the many high quality French restaurants nearby.

Make sure to make a reservation. It is a tourist trap but surprisingly a great place for brunch. Sit indoors if you can. I came in w preconceived notions that this place would be a typical tourtisy place w so so ok menu and food, but it turns out the food, menu and service was amazing! Our waiter was really kind and took time to talk to us. The service was quick and seamless. The pasteries, cocktail and our brunch food was incredible. I left feeling satisfied.

Went there for Christmas Eve. The atmosphere is awesome, the servers are super kind and on top of it. The food was good, yet not at the level I expected, could definitely be a lot better.

Visited in Aug 2023 This iconic French brasserie was on my list of must visit places for my trip to NYC, and it didn’t disappoint. While the steak frites is the most popular dish here, we went with some other choices (duck confit, halibut, burger) and each of them were quite fantastic. Desserts were exquisite and the cocktails were also pretty darn good. A definite recommendation for folks visiting NYC

Balthazar !!! This wonderful location in the heart of Soho. The service is average, the dish are little above average. I love your burger here. The patty are delicious, but the huge onion rings are very greasy :( .. it's a classic you should give it a chance.

It was excellent lunch! Food was delicious, wine was perfect, and the deserts were out of this world! We especially liked Pavlova!!! Service was excellent too. I always loved Baltazar, and that was my first time after pandenia. Everything is as good as it was before. Highly recommend this restaurant. It is really one of a kind!

Good place for brunch if you are looking for good ambience. Service is fast and food is decent. Personally nothing really wowed me, and I can’t find myself craving for anything after. But if you are in New York, might as well to go and enjoy the establishment.

Very nice restaurant! Excellent service, coffee was great, and the food was cooked to perfection. The eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was divine. They have great outdoor seating. I’ll definitely go back. Hope this helps!

We sat at the bar for lunch. Overall good experience. I got the mussels and fries. The fries were honestly some of the best. We also got escargot to start which was yummy. For dessert we got profiteroles, which is a must try!

Always thought this place was a tourist trap but we were pleasantly surprised. The bread and butter are so fresh. One of the best onion soups I’ve ever had and the halibut and ratatouille were cooked to perfection. Service was top notch. My only regret is it trying this place out sooner.

Enjoyable experience at Balthazar. We booked a lunch reservation indoors weeks in advance as spots quickly fill up. Ordered the English breakfast, lattes, and mimosas which were all decent. The seating is quite close together which makes entering and leaving uncomfortable. Service is slow, but the waitress was nice enough to put the breakfast on the house.

Excellent attention and variety. I went for a brunch and they had many options, the pastry shop is very rich and the food is very well prepared and super fresh. Attention is a bit slow because the place is usually full. Even so, the delay in attention is not too long. The setting is like an old-fashioned Parisian cafe and is highly detailed and cared for, adding to a beautiful experience. There is usually a delay to enter (at least 30 minutes) so it is advisable to make a reservation.

Decent French restaurant with a reputation for great food. The menu was traditional with a great selection. The only downside is that the portions are on the smaller side. We had duck which I would highly recommend. The interior is very nice and they also have great outdoor seating. I would advise booking given it’s popular.

It seems kind of hard to find a good French restaurant, but this definitely fits the bill. The ambience is absolutely amazing. Food is also great, but very pricey. It adds up fast. Tables were also kind of small so we had to do some juggling as the food came out.

I liked Baltazar. The food very good. All we had tasted amazing. Service was good although it felt like there were rushing us out of the table for the next customer. Also, waiter wasn’t that gentle. That everything ended up working fine. Atmosphere is the highlight of the place. Decoration is pretty and gets you to Europe for sure. I do recommend this place.

This Resturant is aesthetically beautiful. Balthazar is extremely sought after and always busy . Was absolutely packed on a rainy Sunday night . Was a very warm welcome, the poor waiters are so busy they really have a hard time to check on your frequently. So I will not hold that against them for being rather slow . The bib salad was a complete rip off . $21 for the worst salad ever . I was completely shocked for a restaurant of this reputation. Seriously they may as well just give you a head of lettuce and have you just pour your own dressing on because that’s not too far off on how bland and boring was . No vegetables no nothing . Escargot was very good . Dessert was extremely delicious. I would come back to try a few of the entrees. But was seriously disappointed with that salad.

We really liked the experience here. Food was great and the restaurant has a melancholic French style which is pretty cool. But because it is so big the service was a bit overwhelmed, so may need more patience than usual to get your food or the waitress attention, but nothing crazy. Highly recommend the pumpkin ravioli (!!!)

Great service and care add to the exceptional ambiance at Balthazar in SoHo, New York. Regal spot for brunch but be sure to reserve ahead of time as this restaurant fills up rapidly especially with the exorbitant foot traffic around the area. Solo diners get a complementary champagne on the house which was a nice touch and a great surprise. The bread basket was great, and the coffee exceptional as long as it is delivered hot (one of my top ups was not). The Benedict’s are exceptional with the English muffin and the Canadian bacon being very fresh. The home fries were also made from scratch and so I would recommend those as your side. A great experience for exceptional ambiance and food at this Michelin star restaurant. Sitting in the street booth and sipping champagne, I felt like a celebrity to onlookers! 😂

Great restaurant. One of the best French places in the city. The food was delicious. The staff and waiters were smiling and very attentive. I loved the atmosphere almost made me feel like I was in a French restaurant in Paris. Highly recommended.

Was super excited and really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I had high expectations. Food was good but questionable. The side home fries quickly became hard which makes me think they were microwaved. I preferred the Eggs Benedict (Canadian bacon) over the Norwegian Benedict (salmon). It was sweeter and more savory. The almond croissant was disappointing…kind of dry and not too sweet. Reminds me of a stale Costco croissant. Our waiter was nice but the service was sloppy. Hostesses were super nice. They came around to ask if we were taken care of while we were waiting for food. Decor was pretty and had a vintage feel. No music. No ac. The food experience may be better on a weekday when it’s not too busy and chaotic. It’s such a popular spot so I can understand why quality can be compromised…but I don’t think I’ll be coming back any time soon.

For a long standing establishment of NYC the food is of decent quality, however nothing is truly outstanding either. Thought there are still notes to be left, avoid the steaks at all costs, the duck confit was decent and so was the corn ravioli. The service as expected was exceptional.

Scones are to die for. I’ve never eaten in the dine in area so this review is strictly about the take out section. The service is not the best, but the food is top notch. Everything is super fresh. It’s a bit in the pricey side. From what I’ve gleaned from stopping by occasionally, the outdoor dining section is very popular and everything looks amazing.

My friend and I celebrated my birthday here. The our server and the restaurant staff were extremely accommodating and came up to us serval times to check in on us! The atmosphere is lighthearted and fun, yet exudes fine dining. The food was extraordinary!!! Everything from the in house bread to the oysters to the main dishes were tasty and fresh. Highly recommend!

I had missed Balthazar so much they are always the best. Hands down they have the best Steak tartare I have had. The staff is professional and they are all dressed in black and white uniform. The French onion soup is really good as well. Also they gave me a complimentary champagne witch was nice surprise can’t wait to go back here again.

Some many people in the city told me, "Balthazar is an amazing restaurant." I decided to find a last-minute reservation to go and see for myself how great that place was. I believe their food is good. My favorite dish from all was the endive salad, standard for French traditional cuisine. Though, for me it lacked of intimacy or great service attention, maybe it could have been that all the tables were too close for conform, I think the best service you could ever get from any place is the experience of being there that uniqueness you get from the minute you arrive at the restaurant until your leave. I guess I should not have any expectations from anywhere anymore. That was the only thing missing for me and fresh bread, probably because it was Sunday night, and they might have left over from Saturday.

Swung by the bakery, got to-go: oatmeal cookie, double chocolate cookie, savory scone, cheesecake, and a tart. All good. (I wanted to try more but the credit card machine was down, I didn't have enough cash to get everything I wanted, and I'd already waited too long to get cash!)

It looks like the good days are over . The sitting is crowded , not taking into account covid times. Our server forgot the bread and we waited long time for water. It behaves like a tourist trap . We got part of the food together , the pate was forgotten . The crudo and tartar were mediocre. The trout with spinache and asparagus was excellent and so was the blackberry drink.

The best eggs Benedict I ever had! They serve many different type of salads and sandwich, oysters and crab and lobster. The restaurant space is very nice. It is very reminiscent of French bistros. It is usually very crowded, so it is better to reserve in advance.

Great ambiance and service. The food is mediocre. Breakfast and brunch is much better than dinner. The escargots are good, but hard to screw that up. Beet salad was nice, with an appropriately smelly bleu cheese and poached apples. The onion soup is good, but not as good as everyone raves. I felt the soup itself was so overpowered by the large amount of cheese they put in it. I much prefer an onion soup to have a good amount of caramelized onion, but this certainly lacked that, felt almost like a cheese stew. If that's your thing, go for it. The steak a poivre was highly disappointing. It was cooked to medium rare, perfectly. Unfortunately they're clearly using inferior meat and not preparing it well. It was incredibly tough and chewy. Not a hint of marbling in it, so despite being medium rare, it also felt incredibly dry. Served with fries which were standard, but nothing to write home about. The spinach with it was overly salty. I was excited about dessert. But let down again. The caramelized banana ricotta tart had bruleed banana and delicious banana ice cream. The tart itself was rather dry even with that. The apple tarte tatin was good, but again, the base was hard and dry. Difficult to even cut (we were only provided a spoon, which should normally be fine). The wine (house and by the glass) was all mediocre. The service was great.

Not a bad place for a nice dinner. The ceviche starter was fantastic which is almost a shame because everything else after it was good but not quite as good. Service is pretty good. I'd say it's a bit expensive for the quality of food though. Every dish was solid but didn't wow me.

Definitely recommend coming here. Have gone for brunch, lunch and dinner. The service is exceptional! They are extremely attentive and always ready to fix a wobbly table. The food is great and I highly recommend ordering the seafood tower, mussels, steak, omelette, escargot, steak tartar, salmon and toast, as well as the lobster pasta. The bread served prior to the meal is a must! The only thing I would note is that often times the appetizers aren’t worth the price, the tuna crudo is great but for what you’re paying you aren’t receiving a lot… I am all about quality over quantity though in this case it’s a little too hefty. Overall one of our go tos and am always excited to come here.

Amazing experience for brunch! The french food was delicious and the staff was super friendly. Book in advance because it’s a popular place. Don’t missed out this restaurant in NYC

Transported to a cafe in France without having to board a flight. Authentic and rustic. The ambiance is eclectic and chic. The food is so flavorful. The Onion soup gets you over the hangover from the previous night and the Rosé Champagne keeps the mood going. For Brunch they have a full menu but just eggs are done so well you can't go wrong with a hearty breakfast. The dessert Pavlova was light and airy. You just have to stop by their bakery and get some bread and pastry for the rest of the day.
