I thought about not writing a critique about this place cause I use to rate places that were good, but this place left us with a bad taste. The food was good, the staff wasn’t the best. When the bill came - they charged us 20% for tip. We usually give more than that but we don’t like being pushed. We told the waiter that this is unacceptable and then the drama begin - he showed us at the menu in small letters it says that table for six or more will have to put 20% in the bill. Well I find it rude - gratitude should be earned by a good service and not this way. I won’t go back there, I don’t appreciate this kind of greedy behaviour.

Great little spot on 7th Avenue. The staff was very friendly, we were seated right away. The decor is very ethereal and relaxing. The food is delicious. I had the half grilled cheese and tomato basil soup - the cheese blend is amazing and cooked perfectly. The meatloaf is also amazing - I stole a bite of my boyfriend's dinner. I recommend stopping in if you're looking for a great spot.

Nice Brunch spot in Chelsea. We started with the calamari and it was very delicious. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I had the Croissant French Toast and it was pretty amazing especially if you’re into pastries and sweets. The service was nice. Highly recommend.

Excellent place to go to for lunch with friends. I had the Turkey burger with fries and my friend had the Salmon BLT and we both loved the food! We also ordered drinks and they were actually really good. I enjoy drinking alcohol knowing I can taste the alcohol and I definitely did. I will be back whenever I’m on this side of town. Also, kudos to amazing and caring servers.

I had not been to Cafeteria for years so happy went back to it. The food was as good as I remember just good comfort food after a night out. Our waiter was so sweet and kind. Lord the meatloaf was out of this world and the half chicken was really good as well. The drinks was strong and yummy. Can’t wait to go back.

What a experienced! How can I describe this so lightly? This place took my heart away since I walked in, anywhere I looked I found beauty, love and passion for what they do, we got greeted right away, I was lucky that night to have Devin as my server, he recommended many dishes I absolutely loved the branzino which it was one of the fresher fishes that I've tried so far in the city. My friends love the Brussels sprouts, it had a hint of spicy which it made just perfect to have my friend George fall in love with this dish, as well we tried the white chocolate blackberry pudding with some ice cream, I've heard from manager (Carmine, right? So personal and caring they are for their guests) that you could only find this dish in here and it was phenomenal, what an amazing time I had that night, it will be in my memories forever. You guys made me fall in love with Cafeteria, could it I be more grateful? I will definitely be back to have more unique experiences, so never hesitate to come in to have one of the most meaningful time. You will leave filled with so much love, at least that was for me when I was there. Thank you guys, keep growing and making things with love as usual.

Simply Devine!! From the service to the ambiance end of course the quality cuisine 👌 I highly recommend you to try Lemon Ricotta Pancakes whipped ricotta, lemon zest, blueberries, vermont maple syrup

On a whim we went to cafeteria for a late dinner. It was okay, not the best meal I’ve had. It was aesthetically pleasing though. It’s cute for a date night but the entrees aren’t my cup of tea. Staff wasn’t the warmest, especially after my friend wasn’t pleased with her entree and requested something else. They accommodated her nonetheless. Our waiter was nonexistent for most of time there but the other wait staff checked in regularly and were very helpful.

Best Waffles Ever! Nice coffee, they have oatmilk. The place is really big, there is space inside and outside. Staff members are so kind and moving everywhere, they smile to each other make jokes, it feels like a very good energy.

I would recommend Cafeteria for folks who want large portions, good food, heated seating, and consistent staff. We ordered cappuccinos, fried chicken and waffles, and the steak and eggs. The chicken and waffles, like everyone says, was pretty good. Crispy, tender, and flavorful. The waffles were similarly crispy and held their syrup well. It comes with hot sauce and syrup. The steak and eggs comes with a side salad and home fries. The cappuccinos had enough milk to dive into and were served with a side biscuit/cookie. The outdoor seating benefited from huge heaters that kept the whole area warm without any cold spots. Service was nice and consistent. Come by for some good food and a fun time.

Visiting Manhattan, we stopped at Cafeteria a couple of times, and enjoyed it. The prices are good, the food is really good, and the ambience is nice. I was happy with their gluten free selections. The drinks aren’t bad either. :)

This is how you do upscale traditional American cuisine! Lovely service, even better food. If your not familiar with usual dining scene of NYC, you might find it loud. But other than that, hats off. Would recommend 100%

Very friendly staff and amazing food. Both the pancakes and French toast were excellent 👌👌 the waitress thought she saw me looking at a stain on my shirt and even brought over a glass of water for me to dab my napkin in!

I've been waiting and waiting to have this Eggs Benedict and it did not disappoint. All of the other food ordered at our table was also amazing. (Belgium waffle, chicken and waffles, rock shrimp, avocado toast and of course fried oreos!) Our server Lola was kind and knowledgeable. Thank you for a great experience.

Food and service has always been great and will definitely come back for more. Minor notes- The waffles and bread came out a bit too toasted for our taste. Would have liked a more golden brown shade.

Liked everything we tried, and left more on the menu to come back for. Mac n cheese spring rolls are delicious! Chicken and waffles were good but I opted for plain waffle instead of spicy. Soup and Sammy combo was good too.

Amazing evening vibes. Perfect place for a girls night. Everything suggested by our waiter was ordered and no regrets. Original came for the mac&cheese but after seeing the menus it felt like we would be missing out on a great dinner, if we kept it simple. This place definitely upscale energy but with a mix of hood and comforting food at its core.

Good food. The eggs Benedict was tasty and filling. It was pricey to add the meat and side options but it made for a better meal. The atmosphere was not nice due to the outdoor dining requirement at the time, but not terrible given the situation.

Came in for a quick bite, was helped very quickly. I ordered the bistro burger which came quick! The burger was huge and delicious I highly recommend it. The fries tasted perfect! Wish I had more time to try other things on the menu.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast. I had the waffle, which comes with two different types of butter (or whipped cream? honestly not sure), which were both great and plenty of each in case you only preferred one. Service was great and the street view is nice too!

The service was amazing. Delina was very attentive and made great recommendations. The drinks were good and the Mac and cheese was SLAMMING! I had a Cobb salad it was great, I would do it without the chicken next time.

Amazing experience here on October 2nd!! We had amazing service from Lola!! The eggs Benedict with crab cakes was to die for!! This is the place to go for any kind of dining or drinks in the city!!

The restaurant's vibe was relaxed and chill. Not too long of a wait for a table and very accommodating for a large party. Our server was awesome. She was on top of our table and knowledgeable about the items on the menu. I order the Blueberry hibiscus julep and the salmon blt with sweet potato fries. At first, I was not a fan of the cocktail but our server went out of her way to fix that. She came back with an upgrade version of it and that drink was 10x better. Amazing service The Salmon BLT was good. Didn't feel too filling but just right. Sweet potato fries are pretty much what you would expect. The rest of my table had the spaghetti, and mac cheese combos along with a few cocktails. The whole group enjoyed their food and drinks. End the night with the warm fallen chocolate cake. Great desert and big enough for around 3 or 4 people to share. Overall great experience and good service.

We stumbled upon this place on accident but I'm pretty glad we did. When we walked in, I liked the vibe of the place. It was bright, a lot of white colors and modern. It was kind of empty around 9am and the hostess said we had to wait to see where the manager wanted to sit us but the hostess finally sat us and said he'd serve us. We had our toddler with us and they did not have high chairs 😞 I ordered the Crunchy Croissant French Toast and it was DELICIOUS! Omg! I ordered eggs for my daughter and even though they were just scrambled eggs, they were good. My fiance ordered the BEC sandwich and I think he thought it was just ok. He really enjoyed his coffee tho. Overall, I liked this place. I just don't think it's kid friendly.

I'm late to the Cafeteria game, but here are my thoughts. If you've read my other reviews, you know I'll let you know what's up. I haven't been out with my friend group for 6 months and I'm so glad we chose this place to catch up! The atmosphere is gorgeous, open, simple, chic, and very clearly a welcoming queer space. We started off with drinks (of course) and I got the Lavender Lemon Spritz Mocktail, which was so delicious! I love, and very much appreciate, when restaurants have good mocktails. We then ordered the Crispy Buttermilk Waffle as a starter — YUMMY and perfect for fall! Finally, I landed on the Bistro Burger for my entree. All of it was SO DELICIOUS! Michael, our server, was a dear and a precious human who tended so wonderfully to our table. I am so grateful for that! Let me tell you, I don't know what's up with New York, but finding good service truly is rare these days — so again, thank you, Michael! I'll definitely come back at some point. This is your place to come for date nights, girls nights, gworls nights, or just a self date! Happy Eating, friends!

Perfect al fresco dining. Magically transporting breakfast, consistently fantastic food and service. Of note, I feel very safe here, thoughtful protocols are in place. (I also discovered since the pandemic they also are winning at take out, meticulously packaged with care.)

Staff was super friendly. The eggs Benedict was some of the best I have ever had. Plus the place was really clean. I saw them sanitize as soon as people would leave. They forgot that my wife requested "no habanero sauce" on her sandwich. So I would like to subtract a star for that folly, but they were so gracious about how they handled it and treated us, that I have to leave all the stars.

Reservations were easy to make. The service was great. We ordered the salmon, bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, and the roasted natural chicken. Everything was cooked fresh and tasted great. This place is very pricey, but worth it. Nice place to go to for date night.

The food here is really good and is the only reason I would go back. The service.. questionable. The 2 stars is simply because the server took our order(didn't bother to ask if we had any allergies). After our apps, me and my guest told our server we were going for a smoke break. The support staff instantly started clearing our stuff, showing a lack of communication between the team. The hosts were on they're phone saying goodbye even though I said I was coming back she responds with "goodnight", clearly not listening. Our mains were great, no complaints. We ordered dessert and before we could even finish everyone around was clearly our napkins, water glasses, and wine glasses. They were clearly rushing us out and it made the dining experience horrible. The team needs better training on the steps of service of a resturant. Would go back but wouldn't be my first choice.
