Really impressed by the vibes, high ceiling, decorated in a classic steakhouse styles. We came here for the restaurant week deals $59 per pax (including tax + tip) less than $80. We got appetizers, fried calamari was really crispy from the outside but soft inside. Imported buffalo mozzarella was really refreshing. For the entree, we got New York Sirloin and grilled salmon, both are cooked perfectly as you ordered. Sides we selected Benjamin house fried and creamy spinach, I love the fried while thinking that spinach is too salty. We also got desserts for this deal, we selected chocolate mousse and new york cheesecake, both are on point. For this price, I gave it 5 star review.

Steak is delicious. Dessert was excellent. Service was perfect. Friend calamari and potatoes were not crispy so I would skip them. Stick to the spinach :) Authentic and history rich ambiance.

Old school steakhouse which has lagged behind. It's good but lacks the modern touch of competitors. The sides to steak are bland. Cheesecake is meh. The staff are great and atmosphere is really authentic.

Ambiance (2/5): the establishment has a bar area to wait or dine. It is darkly lit with high ceilings, loud background noise. It's great for a fancy date night but was hard to converse with the noise. the tables are really tightly nested together. Be careful exiting your seat as the staff bustle around. Service (3/5): I felt like our waiter was not friendly, curt when we had requests, and felt like we were getting made fun of between the staff (in another language). They were speedy in getting us what we needed. Food (3/5): I've had better at other  steakhouses. I was greatly disappointed that I had to send my steak back. For the most part, the dishes were just okay. I'm glad I only spent a flat rate because anything more than what I paid would have been a letdown. We visited during restaurant week for $60 for their 3-course meal. The calamari was lightly battered, generous portions, and tasty! I ordered the ribeye for an extra $25. I asked for the steak medium-rare and it was incredibly rare! I ended up sending it back to the kitchen and it was *not* overcooked and instead cooked perfectly to my liking. I wish that the dry rub/seasoning was a bit more pronounced as I did not want to use their steak sauce which tasted like a shrimp cocktail sauce. The home fries were indeed cooked per my request of well-done with bits with a crunch. It was nicely seasoned, onion-forward and provided a nice side to the meal. For dessert, I had the cheesecake but the chocolate mousse is definitely the right move— it has a crunchy crust made of Oreo crumbles a top light but rich chocolate mousse.

Easy 5/5 steak.. perfectly cooked, insane crust. Had both the sirloin and the ribeye but the ribeye was miles better. The benjamin house fries were good but too salty too eat too many.. The only downside was the service: the waiters seemed super bored and barely talked to us.. Also, had the lobster bisque which was out of this world! And lastly, but not last, the cheesecake was delicious :)

I like the Chilean sea bass. Crab cake is good not great. King crab leg is great and portion is large. Cozy environment. Friendly service. Just spinach is not USDA certified organic

I went on a Saturday evening for dinner . Reservations were made but wasn’t required . Our waiter was attentive and patient with us as we looked over the menu . The ambience was comfortable and high class it made me feel extra fancy lol. Vaccination is required for indoor seating but a beautiful outside seating setup is available (non heated) . We started of with the sizzling Canadian bacon with a side of a Caesar salad , and a crab cake it was good . My date and I both decided on the surf and turf and lobster mac . I had Long Island tea for my drink of choice which was very tasty and strong by the third one I was cross eyed 😂 , my date had a triple shot of casamigos a full top shelf bar is available. I got my steak medium it was cooked PERFECTLY! Lobster and shrimp was tender I would definitely get this again . The lobster Mac was delicious as well I wish I could ask for the recipe 🤤. I’m not sure how expensive it was because my date didn’t let me see but by the prices on the menu it’s expensive so please be ready to spend $$$. This place definitely has a date night special occasion vibe but can also pass for a girls night . Make reservations if you’re in the area . Happy eating 🍽😋

This is one of the very best Steakhouses in NYC, it's not gonna be cheap but it's worth every single penny. Count always one less person for the steak, for example if you are a group of 4, take the steak for 3, it's still going to be plenty considering all the appetizers, the sides and the dessert. Overall, amazing experience.

I recently dined at Benjamin Steakhouse, and my overall experience was far from what I had expected from such a well-known establishment. I must say that the steak itself was quite good, but the negatives of the evening far outweighed any positive aspects. The most glaring issue I encountered during my visit was the abysmal service. It's disheartening to admit, but it left me questioning whether it was due to the color of my skin or my choice of attire. No one should ever feel judged or discriminated against when they're trying to enjoy a meal, especially at a fancy restaurant like Benjamin Steakhouse. The moment I walked in, I noticed some cold stares and less-than-warm welcomes from the staff, which immediately set the tone for the evening. The hostess who seated me did so with indifference, and my waiter seemed to be in a hurry to get through the motions rather than provide attentive service. Requests for simple things like water refills were met with considerable delays, and the overall attitude of the staff left much to be desired. To make matters worse, the sides that accompanied the steak were utterly disappointing. I understand that a steakhouse's reputation primarily rests on the quality of its steaks, but the sides should complement the main dish, not diminish the overall dining experience. The sides I ordered were not only subpar in taste, but they were also served cold. It was an unfortunate letdown and a stark contrast to the quality I had anticipated from a restaurant of this stature. As a last resort, I decided to speak with the manager about my experience, hoping for some resolution or at least acknowledgment of the issues I faced. However, the manager's response was far from friendly or understanding. He seemed disinterested and dismissive, providing no solutions or apologies. It was disheartening to witness such a lack of concern for customer satisfaction, especially when I had approached the matter with courtesy and patience. In sum, my visit to Benjamin Steakhouse was marred by substandard service, disappointing side dishes, and a complete lack of professionalism from the management. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this restaurant to anyone based on the experience I had. Discrimination or not, every diner deserves to be treated with respect and enjoy a quality meal at a reputable establishment, and Benjamin Steakhouse failed to deliver on both fronts during my visit.

Came on a Friday night. It was the last Friday during restaurant week so was packed with people trying to take advantage of the sweet deal like ourselves. The tables were tightly lined up than usual and the server was rushing every dish. He brought the bill and dessert at the same time and as we were trying to have our first bites, he came back to see if we were ready to pay. I recommend going on a weekday or the first weekend if you want to try out restaurant week. The sirloin was great but smaller than normal.

I took the S to get here. There’s two trains in NYC (S & G) where you have to ask yourself: is my destination worth this? Benjamin is not a destination. If you live on the west side, there is nothing about this spot that screams: crosstown local, Uber or S train? That said, it’s a good steak house. Me and partner in crime, Ringo, had the usual suspects here. Nothing was memorable. But was all very tasty. Pro tip: martinis are well made, although it was odd they couldn’t make a Gibson. The service was decent. They didn’t clean crumbs from breads, just left it the whole time. Everything else was standard. Pro tip 2: there’s two locations, one on 40th and one on 41st. Don’t get confused, it’s annoying otherwise. Just the tip: 2 tops will be sitting close to others. For more privacy, ask to be seated on the “bridge or gang plank area” ( I have no other way to describe this) you won’t be next to anyone, but there will be constant traffic going by- worth the trade off IMO. 2 years from now, I won’t remember what I ordered. But, I’ll also remember that nothing bad happened. It’s mid, personified.

Benjamin Steakhouse is the quintessential NYC steakhouse with an extensive wine list, excellent steak, and great martinis. High ceilings with a few tables on a second floor overlooking the main dining hall, this is the place to go if you're entertaining clients or going out with executives. The vibe is more corporate as opposed to a date night. The appetizers came out quickly, divided, and then served to each person at the table. Think family style where they make your plate for you. The slab of bacon was thick and delicious. The shrimp were big and tasty. The Benjamin salad is a great starter, topped with crab meet. The steak for two was enough for 3 and perfectly cooked. The mushrooms and broccoli were light sides but the Benjamin potatoes were average. Capped off with an espresso martini and a complimentary glass of port; very nice touch. Benjamin doesn't disappoint, definitely a staple when I'm looking for a great steak and martini. Location - 8 Service - 10 Quality - 10 Ambiance - 8

Celebrating my birthday at this restaurant was an absolute delight on Monday night, the second-floor setting offered a cozy and intimate atmosphere, allowing me, my son and my husband to enjoy a wonderful evening together. Henry’s service was the highlight of our dining experience, making us feel truly special on this celebratory occasion. I left not only with a satisfied palate but also with a heartwarming experience that turned my birthday celebration into a cherished memory. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for those looking to combine delicious food with outstanding service.

I must say Americans do know how to cook a mean steak. I had the Rib eye steak - medium rare, it was done to perfection! Had the steak fries and creamy spinach as my side dishes (too busy eating till i forgot to take a snap shot of the side dishes). One advice - make sure you come with a big appetite...the steak portion was huge, I was struggling towards the end. But it was definitely a meal to remember.

The minute I walked in, the manager introduced himself, and asked if we need anything. He came to a bar to check on us at least 2 times, making us feel like VIP guests. Good food, friendly and professional staff!

I came to Benjamin Steakhouse with a friend several years ago and had the porterhouse, which was delicious. So I was excited to come here again this weekend during Restaurant Week for dinner, to celebrate a friend's birthday. The atmosphere was lovely, starting from the entrance, with walls filled with photos of celebrities who have visited, to the beautiful dining room, with high ceilings and elegant decor. Their Restaurant Week menu has a wide variety of options to choose from, which was one of the reasons why we'd selected this place. I ordered: - Appetizer: Imported Buffalo Mozzarella with beefsteak tomatoes, basil and balsamic reduction - Entree: New York Sirloin - Side: Mashed Potatoes - Dessert: NY Cheesecake + Tea The appetizer was fresh and delightful, and a generous portion, too. The steak was flavorful, although a bit too salty. The mashed potatoes were way too salty, which was quite disappointing. I'd never had such salty mashed potatoes. My friends ordered the Creamless Creamed Spinach, which was the complete opposite, being quite bland, but a much healthier option. The NY Cheesecake was not dense, like a typical NY cheesecake, which I was expecting. To the contrary, it was light and airy, which I quite enjoyed, especially at the end of a full meal. I also appreciated that it came with coffee or tea. Based on my previous experience, I'd had higher expectations of the food overall. The service, however, was wonderful. Since it was our friend's birthday, the server arranged to have a birthday candle and message on our friend's dessert plate. And they sang happy birthday, with multiple servers chiming in. The service throughout our meal was attentive and the staff in general were quite pleasant. I hope the saltiness was just a one-off, because I would love to come back again with family and friends.

I’ve been coming to Benjamin’s since I was young and it’s my favorite steakhouse in the city! The porterhouse and wedge salad is a must try! The staff always gives great service and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. If you get a chance to sit upstairs, do it!

From the food to the drinks to the overall atmosphere, Benjamins is amazing. I had the Surf & Turf - everything was cooked to perfection, in my opinion it was the best steak I have ever had. I was also able to try the oysters, which had great flavor and tasted fresh.

Last Wednesday, our family had a great dinner at Harris' The San Francisco Steakhouse It was very special dinner because the staff went out of their way to make certain our daughter was happy. Many of my friends were excited to hear that I gave you a DFES donation request for our auction. We would appreciate the donation. I will have a lot of competition on bidding for a Harris' donation. Thank you very much for everything.

If you are looking for the ultimate steakhouse experience in New York, look no further than Benjamin’s. This place has it all: a cozy and elegant ambiance, a professional and attentive staff, and most importantly, a superb selection of prime USDA meat, dry aged to perfection. I visited the Times Square location with my husband for our anniversary and we were blown away by the quality and flavor of the food. We started with the jumbo shrimp cocktail, which was fresh and succulent, and the cold crab meat appetizer, which was generous and delicious. For the main course, we shared the porterhouse steak for two, which was cooked exactly to our liking and served sizzling on a hot plate. The meat was tender, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The sides were also excellent, especially the creamed spinach and the mashed potatoes. For dessert, we had the NY cheesecake, which was creamy and decadent. The portions were huge, so we ended up taking some leftovers home. The service was impeccable, from the hostess who greeted us warmly, to the waiter who was friendly and knowledgeable, to the manager who checked on us several times. The prices were reasonable for the amount and quality of food, and the wine list was extensive and impressive. Benjamin’s is not just a restaurant, it’s a destination. It is hands down the best steakhouse in the city, and I can’t wait to go back. I would give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Everything about this place is perfect. Went there for the restaurant week offer. Appetizers are pretty good, had the soup and calamari. The steak is outstanding flavorful tender and rich, it does not need any condiments. The salmon is also pretty good, melts in the mouth. It's a good alternative for someone who has trouble chewing. Creamless creamed spinach is very good and I loved the cheese cake. Overall, the steak is prepared in a very similar style as Peter Lugers and some may argue it's even better.

I went there at restaurant week. I had wedge salad for appetizer which was good. But the steak was dry and overcooked. Also really bad service. Maybe regular menu would be better but you should not go there during the restaurant week.

We came to Benjamin Steakhouse for restaurant week and felt as though they treated restaurant week customers as secondary customers. The service we received was minimal and a bit frustrating when it was hard to get the attention of our waiter. The food was all fine but nothing to write home about as well. The best parts were 1) the very fair portion sizes, and 2) the dessert, which was quite good!

My number one steakhouse in the city. Consistent service, food, and atmosphere. Great to take friends or clients who are visiting the city! The porterhouse steaks (Steak for 2) are a must. The hot fudge sundae is delightful. Not sure how they make the whip cream, but it’s the best! Special shoutout to Johnny and team who always treat us like royalty.

Went for Restaurant week dinner last Tuesday. I was really looking forward to it reading the good reviews. I even compared it with other steakhouses doing Restaurant Week as well. Reservation wise, quick and easy via Open Table. I requested for a really good table celebrating a milestone event. They gave a wonderful one by the balcony. That was a nice touch. As for the food, we did take advantage of the restaurant week menu but also ordered from the main menu. For appetizers, I had calamari which was delicious with their marinara sauce. My husband had the slab of Canadian bacon. Both good and pretty generous. I ordered a glass of Champagne and husband had a glass of Malbec. They did offer bread too but it's not the freshly baked irresistible bread with butter type, I skipped this. Wish it was better. We both got the sirloin for entree and it came with mashed potato and vegetables. I found the steak okay, it was medium well not medium rare as I asked. I only ate half and left the rest untouched. Thankfully we ordered the Surf and Turf which was $85 and menu says, 12 oz filet mignon, 2 oz lobster, 2 oz shrimp, 1 oz king crab, bordelaise, beurre blanc for $84.95 so we were excited and asked for it medium rare plus. It came and presentation is beautiful but felt underwhelmed to be honest. Didn't really feel the lobster and especially didn't see the crab in it though so that was a let down. Dessert was chocolate mousse which came recommended, it was good but didn't really deliver that perfect dessert pleasure. My husband got the ice cream which was supposed to be vanilla and strawberry and he got chocolate and strawberry, he doesn't like chocolate ice cream so it was also just okay. Overall, 3.5 but bumping it to a 4 because of the wonderful service from Jet last Tuesday night and for giving us a great table by the balcony. There was also a guy who kept on asking 'how's everything going?" from tables who had white customers and for at least 3-4 times that night, chose to not ask how the asians and people of color are finding everything. $230+ and a generous tip later, everything adds up to the experience. It wasn't bad for sure, it just felt a little flat. Wishing it was a much better experience to write and rave about as I usually do.

It was our first trip to New York. After a very long day of walking my wife and I, though tired and sweaty were welcomed In. Our service was impeccable and the steak we received was cooked to perfection despite my wife liking it well done and me medium. This was the best steak I had ever tasted. Was very tender and flavorful requiring no other sauce. I must apologize to the staff for our appearance. But I cannot recommend this wonderful steakhouse enough. When I come back I will be sure to visit again. But with a better appearance. Thank you to all who made this memorable for my wife and I.

Great Steak, Great Service, a special place to have lunch! the bill can rack up easy with good beers & wines aplenty, good whisky menu too! The boy Jayden couldn’t get enough of the french fries and the ice cream was perfect. My only quibble would be the beautifully cooked broccoli could’ve done with a touch of garlic and the steak had just a little too much salt…. small quibbles!

Bad service, made a reservation at 6:30pm, the concierge told us to wait at the bar area to be seated. The entrance is pretty crowded because there are at least four or five groups waiting to be seated. I do think most of them had made a reservation before head because there were party of four without reservations and they didn’t even let them in. What’s the point to make reservations if we need to all stand there in the croweded hallway waiting to be seated?? Our waiter was very condescending and impatient, he asked us for drinks other than water, my friend asked for drink menu, but the background was noisy, he couldn’t hear so he just turned around and tell the dish walker “just water”, instead of taking time to ask her for clarification, that was rude, he was gone as soon as we finished ordering food. We had to call other waiter to get the drink menu. These aren’t even everything during the whole dining experience, i ordered medium filet mignon, it was a little burnt on the ends. Overstaffed restaurant yet service was so bad. I guess a tons of celebrities dine-in photos don’t make you a great restaurant .

We visited on a week night and the restaurant was very busy, we had to wait for a bit even with reservations. Vibrant and family/ group dinner atmostphere which means it can be quite loud to hear each other sometimes. Very attentive staff. My medium rare rib eye steak was huge, buttery soft and juicy - I love it! The portion is huge and you pay accordingly for all of the above but I find that worthy.

Benjamin’s was top notch from start to finish. The absolute best appetizers , the bacon , Tuna tar tar , and crab meat were incredible. The steak was PERFECT, the best .. hash browns with blue cheese , oh my .. and than the dessert .. chocolate mousse , was the best we have ever had. The service was second to none. Looking for the perfect steak house experience, look no further .. Enjoy !!

This place is the best lunch in NYC!! I’ve been try soooo many popular steak house before but this place is another world!! Because they have a very good deal of lunch. Full corse is only under $40! You need to pay more than double if you want to eat same quality for everything. Everything was absolutely amazing! Steak was malt in your mouth. Cooked perfect! Jumbo shrimp cocktail was very fresh. Cheese cake was super delicious. I’ve been here over 5 times, Benjamim never disappointed to me and my besties. My hidden spot :)

What a lovely experience! We were a party of four able to get a last minute reservation. The guest services at the host stand was extremely pleasant. We were seated, then right away a waiter brought the table water, butter, bread and crackers. The service was great. Shortly after, our waiter Genci came over with menus and we placed our orders. (He gave us great recommendations). All while taking our orders Genci had such a pleasant attitude and was extremely attentive to the tables needs. Our drinks from the bar came so quick we almost didn't realize they had been served. Shortly after came our appetizers and entrees. The presentation was lovely, Genci served us our orders and the night went on. Benjamin steakhouse was the perfect restaurant to go to with either friends/family or on a date. It was a little pricey but the experience, food and drinks made it worth it. As our dinner wrapped up, the lovely manager John came over to assure we enjoyed our meal and drinks. He was such a people person, he connected with us and was of high spirits. Overall, the food, scenery, and customer service was 10/10 all thanks to Genci our waiter, John the manger, and The bar tender (who makes amazing love potions- I highly recommend that drink)

Low-light, high end, dimly lit restaurant. Staff was nice, but out order took so long (like I know I ordered my steak well-done, but I don’t want it burnt). Overall, had a great meal!

Great interior with phenomenal wood work and detailed in the architecture. Benjamin's is warm and inviting with a well informed staff. The beef was good by NY standards. I'm from Houston so we're a bit spoiled when it comes to fine steakhouses. The bar is pretty high but Benjamin's fared well and much better than a highly rated steakhouse near Times Square. Great bourbon selection if you appreciate the good stuff.

Benjamin Steakhouse is wonderful. A well-appointed space with attentive waiters and great steaks. My filet was huge and perfectly rare. Asparagus was also large and perfectly sauteed. Dessert was pecan pie...narely blackened under the broiler with ice cream and whipped cream. The wine list is extensive. A marvelous meal that is priced accordingly.

It’s restaurant week in Manhattan so I decided to try a new place; extremely impressed with Benjamin’s. My waiter was great and the food was even better. Please forgive the photo of the somewhat eaten steak it was really good AND please make sure to taste the cheesecake with the homemade whipped cream 🤤

Like a previous reviewer, we too selected Benjamin's Steakhouse to try for Restaurant Week. This year's menu seemed to be similar to what was offered last season but was a mere dollar more at $60. We chose almost the identical offerings as the other reviewer and the experience was identical. Entrees were prepared as ordered and service was crisp. Will add that the cheese cake was awesome and must be tried. Thanks to NYC's Restaurant Week event I now have another great steakhouse to add to my city rotation.

Amazing food, great presentation, nice ambience, friendly service, ample seating and very generous servings. Very strongly recommend. Loved it so much I visited it again within a week. While the namesake steaks are splendid, we were completely blown away by there fried calamari with Marinara sauce and the desserts of NY cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake. They also have a nice bar. The restaurant is frequented by celebrities and some politicians, so you may spot one during a visit.
