Show and staff are great but that's about it. We booked days ahead and still had to wait 40mins for our table (which meant we sat down at 10:10pm). Food isn't anything special, really. The meat quality is average and the taste isn't anything exceptional or worth remembering. While our chef was fun and very welcoming (as was the waiting staff), I'm pretty sure the routine is the same so I can't see myself going back. Overall, a bit disappointed. Unless you're going there just for the IG stories, I'd look elsewhere.

You can but you can’t wrong when choosing to eat at Benihana. They have plenty of options and the food is prepared right in front of you to your liking. If you any type a food allergy, they accommodate you right on the spot. The chef is very interactive so you are able to enjoy your meal and the experience. Book this place if you are in Manhattan and you are looking for interactive dining experience. $$$

Come here for the visuals not the flavors. Everything kinda tastes the same regardless what’s being cooked (they all have the same condiments). The shrimp that came with the set was not very fresh and almost tasted bitter. The drinks were very sugary. The negatives aside, it’s still fun to see the chefs do tricks and the environment is very lively and seems family friendly. I’d say for the price you can get much better food in New York, but it doesn’t hurt to come here with a big group and have a good time.

Food quality is not great, which makes the end product you eat average. Expect apple bees quality. Service was great! Really easy to get a table. Not a long wait. You get to be in a lively space. The cooks are funny and entertaining. Really fun to see someone cook right in front of you.

Amazing food with a special performance from the chef table side. Really nice setup and provided us with actual decent cocktails. Food was delicious and not to be wasted. I suggest this place as a unique experience if you haven't tried it out yet.

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I would give them a 0. Visited on 8th December 2023. First of all, my boyfriend and I reserved a table for 2 at 8pm. After walking around the restaurant, we noticed we got cramped onto a teppenyaki table with 10 people while every other table had 8 people. Second of all, we ordered Spicy Chicken Gyoza but after biting into them we noticed that they weren’t spicy and questioned whether they were pork gyozas instead. Our server was nowhere to be seen so we couldn’t even ask him and gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, assuming they’re still chicken gyozas AT LEAST but without the spice. We also know our waiter didn’t mishear us because he repeated our order to us to make sure it was right. Upon receiving our bill, we saw Pork Gyoza on the receipt and confronted our waiter Saul about it. We kindly waited for the rest of the table to leave before settling the bill and we could tell he knew we were not happy. He then proceeded to lie to our faces and tried to reassure us that we were given chicken gyozas by saying there would have been green jalapeños (we did not see any). This was extremely disgusting to find out as my boyfriend is Muslim and doesn’t eat pork and I find this to be extremely disrespectful. We would have liked to received an honest apology but instead we were dismissed without any compensation. ALL of our food was lukewarm, the sushi was not fresh and the fish was rubbery I couldn’t even swallow it and had to spit it out into a tissue. The waiter said he’d come back with soy sauce for our sushi - he never did. We ordered an entree to share, which he also got wrong - ordered the Benihana Special but instead we received Splash ‘N Meadow. It was supposed to come with rice and we asked for it but we never got it until the end of our meal. The meat barely had any seasoning and our medium steak was served to us well done. The next time we saw our waiter he had come to collect everybody’s payment. The entree was also supposed to come with hot green tea and dessert, which we never received and at this point we just wanted to leave so we didn’t even bother chasing it up. And to top it all off, I got diarrhoea for the night as soon as we got back to our hotel. Not impressed at all. Absolutely nothing about this experience was enjoyable and not worth paying $154 for. Only reputable for entertainment. Save your time and money for a restaurant that actually serves good food and provides decent service.

It was a great experience, the food taste good and the chef put on a show for us. The vibe there is great. For the price of the food and portion given could be a bit more but you’re paying for the experience and I would do it again. What I don’t like is tip is added automatically and you can’t split the bill.

I had a good time today. My server Gideon was nice and efficient, and the chef Haque was nice and courteous, so I enjoyed my visit to Benihana even though I was on my own.

Great experience with the family you basically get a meal and a show. Food was ok you also get side salad and a soup in the price of the main course. We dined 4 people and a child for a total of 150$ including tax. Waiter was very pleasant and the chef Daniel was friendly and fun.

Gross food mediocre seasoning nobody at my table finished their plate and the chef was super quiet no one could hear. I got the Benihana trio (steak, chicken, shrimp fried rice, teriyaki wings) the mango drink was the only thing good

It was ok. Not like I imagined. Cook wasn't friendly. Take out took over a hr wait. Never got my green tea or ice cream. Meat was bland. I had the strawberry lemonade taste like a sugar bowl. And also the passion fruit lemonade.

Went for the first time for my birthday. It was a great experience. - Excellent food, highly recommend upgrading to fried rice. - Professional and attentive staff (Mishka was an excellent server) - Surprise ice cream and family photo. Thank you Benihana, Milton (Hibachi chef), and Mishka for making my day special.

Came here for dinner with my family and wanted to try this hibachi experience! It did not disappoint. Id say its one of the best in the city! Husband had the steak and scallops which was cooked to perfection. Our chef did tricks. Kids were so happy. Hands on to Nina for an excellent service. All in all a great experience. Highly recommended!

My second time there in years. Everything was very nice and delicious. Great drinks. The only thing is that I had a reservation and I requested to have the staff sing Happy Birthday to my guest and I had to ask again in person so I believe they should be paying attention to the guest request.

I would definitely return and ask for Haque ! The food was delicious and filling ! The drink was AMAZING ! I had the exotic mojito ! YUMMY!!! I also had a birthday coupon certificate which made the meal even better ! 💚💚💚💚

The customer service was hit or miss for me. The food was above average, but definitely not the best I’ve had. The experience of watching the hibachi being made, and sharing the meal with 5 other strangers was actually quite fun. I had the lotus tempura sushi roll and beef fried rice. Sushi and fried rice were made in the BOH, and that was a bummer. However, it was tasty; so that made up for the lack of a “wow factor” experience. Overall, you’re paying for an amazing dining experience; not so much for amazing food out outstanding customer service.

Had a lively date night at this Benihana in Midtown Manhattan - it was bustling even on a weekday! Sharing a table with two other parties was unexpectedly fun and added to the great vibe. The service was commendable despite the crowd. Had to wait a bit too long for the chef to start the teppanyaki show, but the entertaining cooking performance made up for it. A four-star spot for a unique dining experience, just be ready to embrace the crowd and the wait!

Love the food here, as seafood / meat options that are prepared with a show. Also, the ground floor is for fast serving of the food. Great value for money

Really fabulously fun evening at Benihana. Our chef was Tenzin and he was utterly fabulous. He was funny and engaging plus a great chef. He worked his audience (us) and the hibachi grill like a master. The table (or grill) across from us was looking over enviously as Tenzin was such a great entertainer as well as cooking the food perfectly. Superb fun and great food for the price. Perfect evening out with the gang.

Really disappointing. It was my first time on this type of restaurant and came for the experience (specially since I saw it on one of my favorite TV shows) but it was nothing like I expected. The waiter was very nice but the cook was super boring. He barely did anything other than the onion volcano, no shrimp in the pocket, no throwing anything into the hat, just splashed the spatulas a few times and that’s it. I could only see it from other tables (cooks were really nice and entertaining there). Also the food wasn’t great which made it even worst. Will not come back.
