For those who are in the Upper West Side, Riverside Park is a clear rival to Central Park. With four miles of paved paths, green space, playgrounds, gardens, and off-leash dog areas, this park is a great place for an afternoon stroll, to meet friends, admire the scenery, or go for a run.

Absolutely fantastic urban park with beautiful water side views. Great for people watching, walks, runs and dates. On a day with great weather, bring a blanket, apps/snack, card and board games and some good friends and enjoy a nice sunset!

Magnificent park with such lovely views overlooking the river and New Jersey. Plenty of space for All outdoor activities like bbq's and parties. There is a roller skating park, a track and field, swimming pool, multiple park areas to sit, drink, eat and just enjoy life. A hidden gem on a cliff here in the city.

Nice place to relax near river side. There are plenty of picnic tables around with many playing options for kids. So, easily one of the best places in NYC to be outdoors with family.

Gorgeous greenway right by the Hudson river where people can jog, enjoy the beauty of nature while reading their book on a bench, walk their dog and admire the view of Jersey City on the other side of the water. The park is extremely clean, quiet and it's in one of the oldest and most iconic areas of Manhattan.

great park on Upper West Side with urban sculptures, grassy areas, paths, industrial remnants and overall, a very nice view of the Hudson River. Sometimes the park is only a few dozen feet wide but it extends 4 miles with all kinds of interesting places to gaze at. Definitely a must-visit park.

In Riverside Park the best of nature’s beauty is on display, even in a big city. The wind is often harsh, and the light is often overwhelming, but in a magnificent way.

River Run park is a nice park in Riverside park. An interesting feature is the scaled down geographical map of the Huddon river tributary. Also, look for all the faces in the sandbox concrete. Stuff like that isnt made anymore... but isnt it just a BIT scary for the kids???

We got married in Riverside Park. It was beautiful! We love the 91st Street Garden, because it was the location for the final scene in the movie You’ve Got Mail. The garden is truly a magical place.

Riverside Park is fantastic!! So peaceful for walks. Not nearly as crowded as Central Park and you will see more locals at this park along with some great sites throughout the park.

Great and huge park. Squirrels everywhere, not too many people as Central Park, and so quiet you will fall in love with it.

Despite the cold weather I decided to go for a walk at the Riverside park. I walked for almost an hour. There is plenty of space to walk around in a safe environment. I saw families, kids playing basketball, other people walking with their doggies, couples being next to each other. It was such a pleasant and quiet environment. Go and enjoy!

My absolutely FAVORITE PLACE in all of New York!!! Every time I step foot inside this park I feel at peace (especially in a city where peace is offered only sparingly). Any time of year - especially fall and after it snows - is great to visit this park.

Great for walking and jogging. If you’re not into moving, sitting on a bench and watching the sunset skies is amazing too.

Riverside Park is a scenic gem nestled along the western edge of Manhattan, offering a tranquil escape from the urban bustle. Stretching for miles along the Hudson River, this park provides a perfect blend of natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and historical significance. Lush greenery, picturesque walking paths, and breathtaking river views make Riverside Park an ideal destination for relaxation and outdoor activities. Whether it's jogging, cycling, or simply strolling along the tree-lined pathways, visitors can immerse themselves in the serene ambiance. The park's design showcases a mix of landscapes, from manicured lawns to rugged cliffs and wooded areas. The Hudson River Greenway, a dedicated biking and pedestrian path, allows for uninterrupted exploration while taking in the Hudson River's majesty. Riverside Park's historical elements add to its charm. Landmarks like the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument pay tribute to the nation's veterans, while the remnants of the New York Central Railroad's Riverside Park viaduct offer a glimpse into the area's past. Playgrounds, sports fields, and dog runs cater to families, athletes, and pet owners, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. The park's cultural events, such as outdoor concerts and festivals, foster a sense of community and engagement. However, the park's elongated layout may require visitors to explore different sections over multiple visits. Additionally, while the park's tranquility is a draw, it's essential to be aware of safety precautions, especially during the evening hours. In summary, Riverside Park's harmonious blend of nature, history, and recreational opportunities makes it a cherished urban retreat. Its riverside charm and diverse amenities invite both locals and tourists to appreciate the balance between the city's energy and the serenity of the outdoors.

Love this park! The park in its entirety is pretty big as it stretches down the riverside. I don't have small children, but there are areas for play for them and bathrooms. The bike lanes from here follow the river. The farthest I have followed them was to Battery Park. They are safe and fairly level only a slight grade here and there. People walking and riding and playing. Any spot along the river is excellent for a sunset view. There are areas of shade and full sun, so whatever you desire. Each time I go there is also a breeze which is much welcome in the Summer months.

Great place to run; the pups love it, too. If you can find the Forever Wild section (roughly between 118th-120th Street), I recommend walking through there. The forested area is brief but well maintained, and gives you a taste of the outdoors without having to leave the city.

Such a beautiful park. Stroller and bike friendly. Some path along the water. Many flowers blooming in July. A lot of shade area, good on hot day. Really fun Playgrounds as well. We loved the hippo Playground.

Riverside Park is absolutely beautiful. It’s clean and right by the waterside. You can gaze across the Hudson into New Jersey as you stroll along. Unlike other parks, it’s not too congested. BEWARE: DO NOT go there after dusk. Even though the park closes at 1am, after 6-7pm you begin to see dozens of RATS darting in and out of the bushes and coming up from the ground running everywhere. Rest spots, water fountains, bathrooms, and exit spots are far and few especially after you pass 96th St.

I love this park, I live right by and I often come here to read a book, meditate or take a walk. It's a great place to bring your kids if you have any too, there are a few playgrounds here as well! Whether you go alone, with your friends or with your family, I can guarantee this place is a real nice place to hang out!

Need i say more. The kids didn't even want to come up to eat ice cream. So much fun for them. Bring a pail and a scooper and let the little ones do the rest. They had other things as well.

I believe, it’s the longest park in Manhattan, stretched from 181st (George Washington Bridge) to 59th street (Pier 99) along Hudson Riverbank on the West Side of Manhattan. It’s line interrupted in many spots by highways, intersections and bikeways. It consists of many beautiful scenery spots, runways and bikeways, tennis courts, volleyball courts, playgrounds. On 145th street Riverside park consists of Riverbank State Park and Riverbank sport complex, that offers variety of activities for adults, kids and seniors (swimming classes, karate, baseball, basketball, ballet dance, Zumba, kickboxing, ice skating rink in winter). On 123rd st the park has Volleyball courts, General Grant Memorial (where skateboarders like to unofficially hang out). On 91st there is a nice playground Hippo. 96 st has tennis court and Dinosaur playground. 76 st has basketball courts. So, when someone offers you a walk/play date at Riverside Park, always ask β€œWhich street?” πŸ˜…

What a peaceful stretch of greenery right in the middle of Harlem. Don’t let the map fool you, this park has lots of steps and will get your sweat on. The only reason I give it a 4 is because it’s not accessible for those who cannot use the stairs.

Love this place! Ravishing scenic route right by the Hudson stream where individuals can run, partake in the excellence of nature while perusing their book on a seat, walk their canine and respect the perspective on Jersey City on the opposite side of the water. The recreation area is very spotless, calm and it's in one of the most established and most notorious areas of Manhattan.
