A great volunteer crew helps with everything, and the views are amazing from the river. A great place for a free summer fun.

Free kayaking in the city is always a blast especially with great company. Be prepared to get soaked in water! Lockers are provided with locks to store your items.Kayaking for two are available also kayaks for single riders. Staff is very friendly and want you to be safe and have fun. I’ve been here twice already and I will be back because it’s a fun activity to do.

Pier 96 was a blast. The kayaking was very fun and very budget friendly activity to do since it is FREE. Monday-Friday the free public kayaking opens at 5:30 pm so I would definitely recommend you check it out. Only downside is if there is a line you are only out there for 20 minutes give or take. Staff were extremely friendly and even if it’s your first time kayaking they will walk you through it.

Looking for something to do! Try this! It was so much fun! This is perfect for a family, girlfriends or a date idea! Or even looking for some peaceful time watching the sunset! Beautiful experience! It's free on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.

Amazing location. Not famous among the tourist at all. If you keep going north bound from here you will get to go to Riverside Park along with spectacular views of the skyline and amazing sunset across the Hudson River on Jersey side. When you say you are done seeing everything in New York City it always manages to surprise.

Kayaking is the best thing I did in NYC. And it's free! The best time to go is in the evening around maybe 6:30pm over the summer so that you can have a great view of the sun set. Simply amazing

Pier 96 was and still is a wonderful place to have a peace in noisy New York and yet look out at the metropolis. The volunteers are wonderful in addition very knowledgeable and keep you safe. It is free but highly suggest a donation to them; whatever you can afford. This is my third year and will be going again. Wonderful time! Go!

The pier is not one of the most beautiful but it’s really cool that you get the chance to do free kayak at Hudson River and the view of the city from the water is pretty cool

I come here to compost and it’s great. A brown bin by the pier, the instructions are super clear and I am so happy I am able to compost my food scraps.
