I can’t say enough good things about this place! Traditional Italian food in a lively (not sleepy) atmosphere with great service. We sat at the bar and everyone was so nice! The melon salad (special), the two pastas and pizza were all excellent. The wine pours are GENEROUS! Worth all the hype - go now!

Well.. this was difficult to rate. It's New York pizza. I understand that this can be the pride of New Yorkers. But I'm sure that they haven't had the chance to taste a genuine Napoli Pizza, like that made by Gino Sorbillo. I could even imagine that, even if they do taste the genuine pizza, they would still prefer the New York pizza: this is what I call "acquired taste". Service was rather slow and bordering mediocre. Too crowded, but lively: pub atmosphere. Price is very good for that part of New York. Let's get back to pizza: if you're into that transvestited form of pizza called NY pizza, look no further. Proof is that I enjoyed it while I was hungry!

Always on a wait FOR GOOD REASON! We didn't make a reservation, but they always have the bar and a couple tables for walk-ins. The hostess and server were both exceptionally friendly. The meatballs were excellent, as were their special garlic knots. The pizza we had was world-class; I especially enjoyed that it wasn't too cheesey. The pizza was delicate and balanced. The wine was smooth and pure! I even had an opportunity to speak with the manager and he was great vibes.

Absolutely the best Italian dining experience in New York City. I wish I found this place sooner and there’s a reason why this place has over 4000 reviews on Google. The Roman Cacio e Pepe and Pasta Carbonara are amazing. The pizza was also very good. Very friendly staff as well. Reservations are highly recommended or come early at 11am if you want a table for lunch. This is now my go to place for Italian food in the city.

I've heard a lot about Rubirosa and there's a place in SF that does a version of their specialty, with all of the sauces but having in NY is something different. We got a couple pizzas, a pasta, some garlic knots and drinks but everything was very good. It was packed so it was surprising that the service was also so good but they knocked it out of the park. This is one of those places that is listed everywhere but backs it up with delicious food and great service! I can't wait for my next trip to NY!

Hands down the best pizza place I have ever eaten at and I’ve been a lot of places and eaten slit of pizza. I can’t stop thinking about how delicious the pizza is. The sauce is perfection! Reminds me of my Nonna’s sauce. The dough was light and crispy. I will definitely be back.

Went on a hot date Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. I love pizza so I was really excited. Ambiance was nice but this place was super packed...Wait time was two hours, even to sit at the bar you need a reservation! We got lucky and got seated after a few minutes 😁 service was great, calamari was amazing ! It's a must, hot and crispy with a hint of spicy. Marinara sauce was perfect. The pizza was okay, it was super thin (not my fave) my friend tried to fold it, the way we true new yorkers eat pizza but it cracked from being so crispy and thin, at least it was really flavorful, we enjoyed it. The drinks were really good and strong. I had the Irish mule and I was happy with it. The server gave me a tiny pizza box with chocolate for being the birthday girl, I thought that was really nice. Overall had a great time and I would go back🙂

My first visit to Rubirosa and I left speechless. High quality food with a fresh homemade taste. The hosts were kind and immediately brought us to our table. The staff were knowledgeable about their menu, caring, quick, and very hospitable. I don’t think my glass of water ever emptied before it was refilled. The quality of the food was out of this world. Quick service, but you can tell it was freshly made simply based on the authentic taste. I could not stop dipping in the marinara sauce. As a gluten free & vegetarian diner, it is often hard to find restaurants that cater to both. Rubirosa is in a class of its own for this. An extensive gluten free menu, with so many options that I have not been able to enjoy in years! The Rigatoni alla Vodka was out of this world in flavor. Dessert was also scrumptious. Highly recommended for a lovely date night, family dinner, business dinner, or honestly anything. Their team is outstanding. Can’t wait to return.

This place sits up there not just as my favorite Italian restaurant in the city, but maybe THE favorite out of all the cuisines. The tie-dye pizza is to die for. It’s a perfect combination of tomato, vodka, and pesto sauce on top of a perfectly cooked and crispy pie. Literally it is amazing and I dream about it. I tried the baked clams the last time I went and wow. I didn’t think I liked clams but I like Rubirosa clams. The bread to start might be the softest bread in Manhattan. We also tried the melon salad on the specials menu and it was incredible. This is a MUST hit if you’re visiting.

I have been wanting to try Rubirosa for such a long time and was finally able to this past week. A friend and I went for lunch on a Tuesday with a 1pm reservation though we probably could have just walked in. The restaurant is larger than I was expecting it to be with 3 rooms of seating. It smelled absolutely divine when we walked in which was a great start to the meal! We split the broccoli rabe, pasta ragu and a small half/half pizza with the tie dye and the honey pie. I know that they are famous for their tie dye pizza and it was good but we thought the honey pie was even better. Pasta and broccoli were also tops! Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes.

Very good! Got lucky with the table by walking in around 11:45am. Tie-dye is a must try, crispy calamari’s super crunch as well. As the pizza is thin, recommending eating it as fast as possible when it’s freshly served

Rubirosa takes the cake for my favorite pizza in NYC! We got 1/2 honey, 1/2 tie dye. The tie dye pizza is the best! Super unique flavor and good mix of pesto! The dough is super thin and crispy with great cheese flavor I love it.

This place has become the most favorite pizza in NYC. I ordered Tie-Dry Pizza and Black and white tagliatelle pasta. I love thin crust pizza, the green sauce is pesto and fresh mozzarella. It’s so amazing. I also love the pasta. The flavor is good.

You must try the honey pie pizza it is surprisingly amazing. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. The crust is so thin but still crispy. Best to make a reservation so that you aren’t waiting long for a seat.

Great food! The pizza is unique, thin and crispy. The seafood was good, but some mussels were frozen - you could tell from the taste. Amazing meatballs! Come in earlier or later to avoid the long lines. Great for a casual date!

We heard about this restaurant on a food tour and decided to stop in for lunch. The place is small but inviting. The staff was warm and friendly. We ordered the tie dye pizza. It was a beautiful pie that tasted even better. The sauce was flavorful and the crust was crispy. The 14 inch pizza was plenty for two. This restaurant will be a frequent eating spot for future NYC trips.

The food at this place is 10/10. We got calamari for appetizer and it was really good. The waiter let us know that we have option to order 2 different styles on one pizza so we got volka sauce and something else that I forgot the name but they were both so delicious. The crust is so thin and tasty. Highly recommend it!

Pizza: Super thin, crisp crust with a satisfying chew. Savoury with delicious toppings. Very, very good. Ambiance: 10:30pm on a weeknight, place is hopping, dark and moody, but lively. We ordered one large 1/2 vodka sauce, 1/2 supreme and polished it off between the two of us. Can’t wait to go back.

Amazing tomato sauce and over all flavor of the pizza! The gluten free crust was thin and crunchy, so if that’s what you like this is for you! The size was very large! The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy but lively. The staff were friendly and fast! Menu mentioned it would take extra time to bake the gluten free pizza but it took no time at all (I was there around 4pm).

Incredible pizza, pasta, cheesecake, and drinks. It was about an hour and a half wait for 2 on a Sunday night, and entirely worth it. Server was lovely and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy. Perfect for a snowy day.

Rubirosa, hands down the best Italian restaurant in NYC, holds a special place in my culinary heart. Whenever I'm in the city, a visit to Rubirosa is not just a suggestion; it's a mandatory stop. I've even gone to the extent of planning entire trips around the anticipation of savoring what I consider the best pizza in the world – the Tie-dye pizza. Now, getting a reservation at Rubirosa can be a bit like scoring a golden ticket. It's a testament to its popularity and the exceptional culinary experience it offers. While reservations might be tough to secure, the perseverance is well rewarded. In the instances where I couldn't secure a reservation, I've happily opted for the waitlist. The wait, which can extend up to three hours, may seem daunting, but let me assure you – it's absolutely worth it. The Tie-dye pizza, a true masterpiece, consistently exceeds expectations. The harmonious blend of flavors, top-notch ingredients like the creamy vodka sauce and the amazing finishing pesto and the super crispy crust creates an unforgettable dining experience. The staff's attentiveness further adds to the charm, making Rubirosa not just a restaurant but a culinary destination. If you find yourself in the fortunate position of snagging a reservation or are willing to brave the wait, Rubirosa is a culinary adventure that promises to elevate your appreciation of Italian cuisine to new heights.

Is there a better pizza place? Rubirosa is my ultimate all-time favorite pizza shop in the world! We don't mess with our order and usually get the Tie-Dye pizza and the original. This time we got the lemon arugula salad which was super refreshing. Though Rubirosa is known for its long waits, we were pleasantly surprised to get a table in just 45 minutes on a busy Saturday afternoon.

Must try while in New York! Definitely one of the best pizzas I had. Arrived at around 10pm. Waited around 20 min to get a table. The waiter was great and welcoming. We ordered the large pizza half vodka sauce and half supreme. Both were amazing but I gotta say we enjoyed the vodka sauce more. The paper thin crust made it easy and light to eat. We finished the whole thing between me and my wife but we’re stuffed at the end. Highly recommend.

WAIT TIME: Although I was told the wait time would an hour and 45 minutes, I actually only waited 45 minutes (for 1 person at the bar). Make sure to be punctual!!!! When they say you have ten minutes to get there after the text they mean it! SERVICE: The service was excellent, I love the staff they were super friendly. First thing they ask is if you’re allergic or if you have any dietary restrictions which I appreciated. FOOD: To start off, I didn’t know what to drink so I asked the bartender for something fruity and sweet. He made something called the daisy. Tommy did not disappoint! Oh my gosh the calamari was amazing!!! I got the spaghetti and meatballs…i would give it a 9/10. Meatballs were ok. The portions were pretty big, definitely shareable with one other person. I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends! PRICE: I paid a total of $68, which I thought was pretty fair.

Great coal fired pizza in the north side of lower Manhattan. The inside is very cozy and welcoming. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow and honestly not the friendliest (even by New York standards)- We arrived at 11:30 on a Friday and were the first of 3 parties in the restaurant, by 12:30 the restaurant was full. We waited 45 mins (after ordering) before being informed that the kitchen had made a mistake and unfortunately, our wait would be even longer. Another 10 - 15 minutes later and finally our beautiful pie arrived. Crust is very thin (almost cracker like) light chew with a good amount of char. Good balance of crispness and flavor. The sauce is very good as well- Hearty with a touch of heat and just the right amount of sweet. Cheese is heavy on the parm, light on the mozzarella. Quality ingredients and a really good pie, but I'm not sure if I'd say it's quite as good as all the hype. Certainly still worth the visit. Just pack your patience. They also sell their own sauce and merchandise, which is always a fun treat for out-of-towners.

Everything about this restaurant was great! I liked the cozy Italian vibes and the food was of course amazing. I went with a group of friends and everyone enjoyed the pasta special, the tie dye pizza, the honey pie, and the appetizers. It was also nice that they let you do half and half on the pizzas so you can try more combinations! My favorite part was the gluten free menu! I have not been to a restaurant where they have a whole separate menu for gluten free! I was able to get my own personal pizza with half tie dye and half supreme. There were so many options and the pizza crust was very good for gluten free!! I can’t wait to go back!

Came here while I was in New York this past December. They told us we had to wait for an hour but we got our table much earlier than that! The food was amazing. My fav was the honey pizza. There was hot honey on it and it was sooo good. I’ve never had anything like it. The service was great and overall atmosphere was good. I had a good time!

Visited on December 30th, 2023. Classic and Tie Dye pizza were delicious! Also great that a pizza can be ordered to come in two flavours, so you can try at least a couple at least. I was told I had to wait for an hour to get a seat when I came without reservation. They offer text service as a reminder when a seat becomes available for you, so you don't have to stay in the restaurant while waiting to be seated. I got a text in about 15 minutes, but likely because I went alone. Probably closer to the hour for bigger groups. Service speed was very reasonable. Server checked your needs frequently enough. Place was crowded, but won't complain as it is indeed a famous pizza place in New York. Worth a try!

Highly recommended for any group size looking for delicious Italian food. From the appetizers to the mains of pasta and pizza, we were extremely satisfied in the flavors and portion sizes. In our group of 20, all 20 of 20 are looking forward to our next visit. P.S. Visitors from Southeast Asia, this is a must-visit!

This is the best pizza restaurant I've been to so far. I arrived a little past noon and it was a full house, but I was seated immediately. Service was a bit slow because of the volume of people and not because the staff was slacking so no hate there. I ordered the 10" half pepperoni and half original. The pizza was thin-crust and nice. Normally, I don't like too much acidity in my tomato sauce, but this was different. The acidity made all the other flavors pop. I paid $28 + tax and tip. It was a bit pricy, but definitely worth a visit. I'm coming back.

14 inch is perfect for two people, although the crust is light and delicate. I thoroughly enjoyed the vodka sauce w/ mozzarella, very flavorful. The service was fantastic and the ambiance was adorable.

Pizza is okay (dont understand the hype) but pastas and salad were very good. The place is packed and full of tables and it makes the ambiance super hot that becomes uncomfortable. Service is closer to bad and waiters and hosts are rude

Amazing Italian food with a great gluten free selection. My table tried a few things and we can tell you that you can't go wrong with anything you order! Definitely make a reservation if you can. We came pretty early in the day and still had a 1.5 hour wait as a walk-in party. It's worth the wait, but still would be better to skip the wait if possible

  • 4/5 Shaun Y. 7 months ago on Google
Finally got a chance to try Rubirosa and the pizza did not disappoint. It’s fantastically thin and full of flavor. We ordered a half Tie-Dye Pizza and half Rubirosa Supreme. We also ordered the Stuffed Artichoke, but were underwhelmed so would skip that next time. I’ll definitely be back for the pizzas alone, and will try some of the pastas.

Amazing pizza in an amazing space. We came without reservation and when we told them we were tourists without a phone to receive SMSs, they did their best to accommodate us right away at the bar. The bartender was a very talented and kind young man who helped us with all questions about beers. Also, seeing them prepare cocktails was truly a pleasure. The pizza was the Rubirosa Supreme, and it was just perfect. Totally recommended!

After a show we knew we really wanted some good pizza. I looked up a lot of places, but Rubirosa caught my eye and I am so glad we went. I loved they were open late and able to get us in. We were able to sit at the bar until a table opened up a few minutes later. The hosts, bartenders, and servers were all excellent and helped us with navigating all the choices on the menu. I love that they give you the option to do half and half pizza toppings so that everyone gets to choose what they want. We started with a seasonal item of brussel sprouts that had pancetta and raisins and an amazing sauce. Loved them. We got a pizza that was half supreme and half honey pie. Both were excellent and we finished the whole pizza. The pizza crust is soo thin and crunchy. It is truly what I wish all pizza crust would be but usually never is. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding and we really enjoyed it because it was not too sweet and was really comforting.
