No rentals this season due to COVID — but model boat owners are almost always happy to give someone interested in it a go. Competitive racing every Saturday April to November. Make sure to ask what the course is because it can look confusing at times. These guys have been doing this for decades and are phenomenally talented. Many of them design and build their own boats from scratch — a technical process that requires a lot of skill and patience. One of the leaders is ranked 8th in the world! Fun relaxing place with kids. Rent a remote control sail boat for $11 plus tax (total $12) for 30 minutes. Great fun.

The boat part of the experience is very cool. My brother who is 11 loves coming and driving the boats around especially when there is lots of wind. It’s a fun activity that is fairly low cost. There are only two reasons that I am not giving the boats 5 stars. First the boats and controllers could be in better shape. The first boat they gave us the motor was broken and the second one the sail didn’t work. The third one worked fine and my brother had fun. The second reason is that the staff didn’t exactly act as appropriately as they should considering most of their audience is young kids. I caught them cursing in ear range of kids and saying rude things to their coworkers in front of the guests. The boats are a really great activity that my brother looks forward to but the experience was tainted a bit for me (and I feel other parents felt the same way) by the way that the staff spoke.

Picture perfect, so relaxing and the perfect spot to take a break and sit by the model boats. A great place to stop For all Stuart Little enthusiasts. Amazing backdrop of the Upper East Side. Great place to pop out of Central Park to walk through the Upper East Side to get to the Met. You can rent the model sail boats for yourself too! There’s a small cafe kiosk next to it too!

Spectacular sight of model boats. So many wonderful things to do in NYC. Most especially Central Park. Absolutely Like 🤙👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤙Always 💙💜💙NY Note : However I absolutely agree with Gabriel's review, " Please do not taint the fun experience for the young kids." And most especially, always behave professionally, most importantly around young children. They learn from us adults, I know we can all be better.

Leider Anfang Oktober nicht mehr angeboten. Sicherlich noch möglich gewesen, da im benachbarten See sogar noch Fahrten mit dem Boot (paddeln) möglich waren.

New York City...die Stadt, die so viel zu bestaunen hat, dass man nicht weiß, wo man anfangen soll. Der Central Park ist aber bei allen Besuchern ein Muss in dieser Stadt! Erholung inmitten dieser Großstadt ist ein absoluter Wahnsinn. Tipp: unbedingt eine Kutschfahrt und/ oder Tandemfahrt machen!

Nice place to visit in the wonderful state of New York .it's inside central park. Theres always something New going on around. The hot chocolate is delicious..chicken soup is really good...come and enjoy this amazing place. Le pain Quotidoen!

Love this place, saw people racing and battling their little toy boats which looks like fun. Very scenic area, I can see people filming their rc boats as if it was real.

be careful they would not hesitate to ripp you off we went over the time by not even 3 minutes and they took us 5 dollars, we complained and nothing was changed

So the website makes no mention of being closed (with hours still listed), but you arrive to find it closed and when you call their number they state they’re closed “…due to COVID 19…”. Maybe they can’t hire employees? Their website’s no longer an active link either, so maybe it’s another victim of the pandemic. Either way, disappointing and a much missed aspect of Central Park.

Central Park model boat sailing is such a unique and fun activity! It's amazing to see these intricate model boats sail across the pond, and the whole experience is truly charming. It's a great way to spend an afternoon in the park, whether you're with family or friends. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and it's clear that they have a real passion for this hobby. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Beautiful and peaceful park. Nice quiet location. The park provides a story telling hour between June - September. Thought that was really educational😊

Wish I could have seen a boat race! It’s a beautiful place nonetheless!

I didn't see any models in this part of the park. No print models or beautiful people walking down catwalks or hot people sipping martinis and looking for spots to shoot or snort drugs. I really liked this part of the park and I hope the models stay away with their vapid chatter and creepy gaits.

First time visiting and using Google maps discovered this was the sailing model sailing boat location. Of course! No boats for sailing when we got there. Then some intrepid sailor Central Park sailor for his boat or rented a boat. I'm not sure which. I think he brought his own but and said it sailing. Very nice day. Weather was fine and watching the boat was fascinating. Highly recommended

Looks like a fun place. Unfortunately we failed to plan accordingly and arrived about 20 min before they closed. Bummer. Unable to rent any boats as a result.

My favorit spot in CP, beautiful location! Recommend Saturdays when there is sailboats. Really a shame that the staff is so uninterested in service and guests. I would love it if they at least looked at you as you order. So bring a friend and enjoy your own company.
