Director of daycare was very unprofessional. A few days prior to the start date for my child, I called because I had a few questions about the bill. Long story short, because I inquired about the bill, the director stated she felt she needed to give her opinion on what she thought I was thinking. She stated She felt I was hesitant and did not want to enroll my child there. Mind you, why would I fill out the registration packet, drop it off with a personal check in hand ready to pay two weeks prior. She came to her conclusion alI because I asked about the charges for my child, as it was my first bill and I wanted to comprehend the charges made. I don't think that is unreasonable. Then she continues to state "this is a business she is running and if I don't want my son to be enrolled there I need to let her know." Once again, I said nothing to indicate I was confused or did not want my child enrolled. I am glad she was as open as she was prior to my child going there. She stated she worked as a preschool teacher for 13 years; unfortunately some people are not meant to be leaders, directors and such. At the end of the conversation, shocked and appalled, I informed her that I would like to know the cancellation policy. After conversation with my husband about the directors behavior, I cancelled. Imagine if I had my child going there and something happened, my concern is how would the director react if she could even handle a simple inquiry about a bill. Anyway, it all worked out in the end, dodged a bullet!

I went in today to get a membership card and the woman at the front desk gave an attitude right away. She is very rude and does not have any patience. I was excited to come in and was even thinking about enrolling my daughter here for preschool. She ruined the whole experience for me. I would not recommend coming here at all.

I come here because my daughter takes swim lessons here. I was speaking with the front desk receptionist who after speaking with found out he was from the Philippines. I had questions about the summer program and he was willing to answer every question I had. He didn't rush to give answers and the answers he didn't know or wasn't sure on he called a person who did know. So I want to thank you for having excellent customer service because being the first person we have to interact with as soon as we come in. Yall picked the perfect person for the job.

Most of the reviews I read concerning "rude" people at the Hackensack YMCA, are true, one has to be really lucky to find a polite receptionist there , there are some. It's been like that for the last 20 years. That said the Gym is the best I found anywhere. What messed it up was the addition of TVs, the music also use to be very neutral, with music from the 50s, 60s 70s and now is strictly loud hip hop.it used to close at 10 pm now it has hours geared for retiredpeople

I've been swimming at the Y for many years.....they've been great during the pandemic. The pool and changing area always felt safe and clean. Everyone is very friendly. I am grateful that they are still open and functioning. Thanks to all the staff!

So to update--the gym is unbearably hot in the summer. When leaving, my children sometimes note that it’s actually cooler outside than in the gym. It’s hot and humid and probably not a good idea health wise to workout or play in the actual gym/basketball courts. During the summer it’s most likely going to be 80 degrees or hotter in there most days with no circulating air! Probably better to find a facility or ymca in the area with an air conditioned gym. Okay facility for a reasonable rate. Nice pool and fitness center. Staff is always helpful. However the actual main gym lacks air conditioning and the floor needs refinishing. Not ideal for basketball, volleyball or anything else. When it’s hot outside it’s hot in the gym as well. Unbearably so. To reply to the response from the YMCA I did tell a staff member it was unbearably hot and ask if there would be a repair to the cooling system and I was told after he went to speak with other staff that it would be "too costly”.

Y at Hackensack is clean and well maintained. You will see lots of kids and parents running after them. Pool is well kept and staff is very co-operative. Gym is old, some of the instruments needs maintenance. I go there for swimming only so i do not have lot of complaints for gym.

I like this Y, been a member for two years now. It's an older Y but it has character. Employees are pleasant, the pool is wonderful and during these covid times you must reserve a lane in advance which is for your safety and not the Y''s fault. I swim 3 times a week and take exercise classes twice a week and I feel lucky to have the Y nearby.

The woman who works the front desk during the weekday morning shift continues to be rude each time we see her. I tried bringing my son to play basketball twice during her shift, and she immediately tries to turn us away. She doesnt offer to tell us what time we can come use the facility, just that we cant and should leave. I then ask her to review the schedule and let me know anytime that works and she proceeds to first say she doesnt know, that I should call later, but then says she is the acting manager. There are 2 basketball gyms and even when one isnt being used she will make up a reason why we cannot use it (first she said it was child safety because of the kids in the daycare and then the second time she claimed its due to covid even though masks aren’t required). The rest of the staff at the front desk during other shifts tend to be courteous and professional but this specific woman doesnt even feel the need to greet you. Seems like she does not understand the meaning of customer service.

😠 You'll be selling your soul away in blood, have to give up your first born, and be shackled in a prison for life by signing a contract with this gym. I suspect getting a divorce or a pardon from death row is easier than trying to cancel a membership here. They'll harass you with phone calls when you...
