Babycastles

Tourist attraction β€’ Museum β€’ Art gallery

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Only one of the weirdest, nerdiest art galleries ever. They make really cool stuff in weird mediums. Weird shows. People working on whatever they're working on. Connected to a hacker club. Overall a cool place.

A fun collection of gaming machines in an unlabelled basement, but nothing really caught my interest.

Went here for a fake VR exhibition which served as a mean spirited and pessimistic joke for the event runner that there is "no good VR".

A great venue for contemporary digital art! Keep an eye out for WordHack!

Cool literally underground indie video game place with people who genuinely care about games & the people or make them, I would highly recommend stopping by one of their events if you can

Wordhack, hosted there monthly, is the best hack event in NY. The venue is hot though!

This underground (literally) DIY Volunteer-run art space is one of a kind and years ahead of the art world. See and play their strange, funny and surprisingly introspective artist video games built into old arcade facades. Don’t let the tough exterior deter you, the people there will welcome you and it feels like you’re with friends. Artist, gamer, or neither you should check this place out.

This place is amazing for anyone interested in how art and gaming come together.

The atmosphere at babycastles, makes you feel as though you're in a hip Y2K anime club. Very Serial Experiments Lain. Take a trip there. Great feel.

I've been to a few videogame art galleries and this was by far the most fully realized. None of the games felt like throwaways, they were playful, odd, and unexpected, and the whole room had been painted (seemingly) in keeping with their exhibit at the time. My visit to Babycastles coincided with a book tour event they were hosting where really wonderful authors, poets and musicians performed against some stunning projections. Overall a really interesting place that I'll be coming back to and encouraging other people to visit.
