we
were
meeting
up
with
a
relative
who
was
in
nyc
for
a
school
project.
as
he
had
traveled
far
(he
lived
in
Southern
California),
we
had
wanted
to
take
him
to
a
restaurant
that
served
more
than
enough
food.
One
of
the
choices
was
BBQ
and
NYC
has
many
of
these
places.
We
normally
have
one
in
mind
but
since
we
found
out
late
that
we
were
meeting
up,
it
was
no
longer
available.
Anyway,
we
were
able
to
make
a
reservation
at
another
place
were
we
also
take
out
visiting
guests
and
it
in
the
heart
of
Times
Square.
We
have
been
to
Virgils
Real
BBQ
more
than
a
few
times
and
there
is
a
branch
near
where
we
live
though
it's
only
for
take
out
and
delivery.
As
we
set
out
for
the
restaurant,
the
rainy
weather
continued
and
luckily,
we
were
properly
dressed
with
accompanying
umbrellas.
As
we
entered
the
restaurant,
the
reception
quickly
seated
us
even
if
we
were
still
incomplete.
I
think
that's
a
plus
as
most
if
not
all
restaurants
require
that
everyone
in
your
party
is
there.
They
seated
us
by
the
window
and
our
guest
arrived
as
we
quickly
looked
at
the
menu.
We
had
already
decided
that
we
would
get
a
dish
from
the
Pitmaster
Platter.
These
meats
are
smoked
in-house
at
a
low
temperature
over
indirect
heat
up
to
10
hrs
with
a
unique
mix
of
hickory,
oak
and
fruit
woods
that
impart
the
most
flavor.
The
Pig
Out
Platter
consisted
of
Memphis
style
pork
spare
rib,
Sliced
Texan
beef
brisket,
Carolina
pulled
pork
and
1/4
BBQ
chicken.
For
the
free
sides,
we
got
coleslaw,
fries
and
Mac
&
Cheese.
Our
guest
was
going
to
order
though
our
waitress
mentioned
the
meal
was
actually
good
for
3.
So,
we
just
ordered
additional
sodas.
As
we
waited
for
our
meal,
we
did
notice
that
even
the
2nd
floor
was
filling
up.
Luckily,
the
place
was
pretty
spacious
so
tables
were
far
apart.
Our
meal
then
arrived
and
we
hungrily
started
to
eat.
How
was
the
meal?
As
mentioned,
we
had
eaten
here
more
than
a
few
times
and
this
was
the
first
time
we
found
the
servings
a
bit
dry.
The
ribs
were
not
though
they
made
up
about
25%
of
the
meal.
Our
guest
though
seemed
to
enjoy
the
food
as
he
kept
on
eating.
The
fries
and
coleslaw
was
pretty
good.
For
dessert,
we
initially
ordered
chocolate
cake
and
banana
pudding
but
they
were
out
of
the
cake
so
our
guest
got
a
vanilla
shake
instead.
The
banana
pudding
was
delicious.
It
was
fresh
banana
caramel
and
pastry
cream,
layered
with
nilly
wafers
and
fresh
whipped
cream.
Was
expecting
it
to
be
sweet
but
it
was
not.
All
in
all,
meal
was
just
OK.
Considering
we
have
had
this
before,
it
was
a
disappointment
that
the
meats
were
not
as
good
as
we
remember.
As
mentioned,
our
guest
did
enjoy
everything
including
his
vanilla
shake
though
I
would
guess
he
was
just
very
hungry.
