I like the hotel. Considering it's NY, is pretty nice. They let a fat orange tabby cat walk around the lobby / restaurant which is awesome. The car obviously lives there and is super nice. On the cons side, there is a $30 plus tax a day use it or lose it "resort fee" that you can use at the restaurant. The drinks and food were fine. Nothing special. It is a per day fee that cannot be combined. You do get free bottles of water, which is nice since a lot of other Marriott properties stopped giving those. The rooms are clean. They are spacious for NYC standards. The beds are 9 out of 10.

We recently stayed here (weekend of November 12th) after the hotel recently re-opened on November 1st. It is an older boutique hotel that has a luxury historic feeling inside. The location is perfect to see the various sites in NYC! However, there are a few things to be aware of before arriving. -There are no amenities offered here for guests. You are purely paying for a room. Being a Titanium elite member, we were given points, late check-out and an upgrade to a suite on 1 of 3 nights. -We were given a suite on our last night so my partner could work from the room comfortably, which was very much appreciated. The suite was gorgeous and huge for a New York hotel room. However, we had to keep calling everyday about possibly switching and we couldn’t get an answer until a few hours before that we could move rooms. -At the moment they are not selling food or drinks of any kind to their guests and no room service. It is quite disappointing they don’t have, at the minimum, tea or coffee in the rooms or in the lobby to offer in the meantime. Overall impression: when the hotel is fully running, I think it will be a nice and cute place to stay. However, with nothing being open and no amenities offered for its guests, the price should reflect that. At the moment it is not worth the price for what you get.

A stay at this recently renovated famous literary landmark just off Times Square and walkable to Broadway show is a treat. Our rooms were spacious for midtown Manhattan and all the amenities were more than adequate for the night. Definitely try the themed cocktails at the lobby bar (carrying on the traditions of the historic "Blue bar" next door which is now an event venue called"the oak room"). Be sure to say hi to Hamlet The resident feline in the lobby.

Great location on Clubhouse Row, with good restaurants nearby and access to Grand Central. Staff is very good. And the cat is awesome. Redone Blue Bar relocated to the lobby from the annex next door is disappointing. Marriott should stop advertising with images of the old Blue Bar.

Hotel staff was awesome! Particularly Nick, Maria, the bellman, and another front desk person but I can't remember his name. Nearly everyone we interacted with was so pleasant. My husband and I had just gone through a disaster of a trip for what was meant to be our honeymoon and ended up stuck in NY. We booked this hotel randomly on the Marriott app because it was near times square and looked nice. I briefly explained the situation on the chat service and they gave us a complimentary upgrade to a king room. After experiencing a terrible 48 hours with the JFK airport, that simple act of kindness felt so nice. We also received breakfast vouchers and I am so happy because they served some awesome food in the restaurant. I had no idea the story behind the cat at this hotel but this made it all the better because I absolutely love cats. The staff also gave us great tips and suggestions for things to do on our impromptu visit to the city. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking to stay near times square and I would definitely want to stay again.

Really sad about what's happened here. All character of this once charming hotel is gone. Now just tired with no soul. The staff are excellent but that where it ended. No in room coffee making, only horrible from concentrate (folders yuck) coffee machine in lobby. No food or bar service. At $400+ a night could at least provide decent coffee. The room is dreary, smelly and bed very uncomfortable. We will not stay here again. There are too many other choices to put up with this level of contempt of paying customers.

It is situated at an awesome location and easy walk to everywhere. It is an old hotel but the room is very nice and cozy. Front desk staff checking me in was super friendly explaining everything upfront in details. The cleaning service could be slightly better - although the bed was made, the hanger l left on the bed was not moved and I had a "sweet" surprise crawling into the bed that second night.

Historic hotel with just the right amount of modern upgrades. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Love the atmosphere. I can just imagine Dorothy Parker sitting at the “round table.” We had the Harold Ross Suite which was nicely furnished but no view from the 6th floor. We even saw the resident cat. The hotel is supposedly haunted but after 2 days, I can’t say that we experienced anything supernatural!

Boutique hotel owned by Marriot. Old world charm, very friendly service, cozy bar/restaurant area and of course the resident cat, Hamlet. We had a corner King room (the larger king room). The bathroom was almost comically small, but the room was very clean and felt so much better than your typical, nice but bland, hotel. Very unique, will definitely stay here again.

I have stayed there 3 times. The room has always been clean. There is a $30 fee per night that you use in the bar/restaurant--nice to have a drink after coming home from a show. The people are extraordinary from check-in to Peter--who got the luggage after we walked up to Sarabeth's for breakfast and shopped at Columbus Circle. He even directed us to Zucker's where we could get a wonderful tuna sandwich. Location--- blocks from all the shows and near quite a few good Italian restaurants. This hotel checks all the boxes. Enjoy!

Our stay at the Algonquin hotel was just perfect. My husband and I were in NY for the marathon and we could have been happier with how easy it was to get around with our hotel being so central. We were able to walk everywhere and take the train from any location. Our rooms were always cleaned and provided with extra water - a must when training for a marathon and the lobby bar was just perfect for when you wanted a nightcap drink, the main bartender makes the best dirty martinis! The waiters were so gracious and overall friendly and welcoming! The bellman super helpful with hailing a taxi and the front desk recommended the best local bagels (hint they already deliver them fresh to the hotel every morning) Algonquin has become our hotel of choice when visiting the city!

Decent location however not exactly center of Time square to warrant the prices on their menus. Rooms were small but clean with good decor. I wish the bar had a better selection of ...let's say everything. Staff was excellent - very pleasant,

I made reservations for 10/21 through 10/24 weeks in advance. Then on October 19, I received a text message cancelling my reservation without any explanation or assistance. This place is definitely ridiculous. Do not book!

Just a few blocks from the center of time Square, this hotel is modern but yet retains is historic figure. Staff is awesome and rooms are clean but small, like most of them in NYC. The food is pricey but in line with most places in the area. Don't forget to say hi to the resident cat who has been the mascot for years.

We stayed here for a trip devoted to moving our recent college grad and her roommates to the city. After a day of unloading a 15' moving truck and getting everything up four flights of stairs, it was wonderful to retreat to this beautiful hotel for some quiet time and good food. The room is small, but well appointed. We don't typically have daily room service, so I can't speak to that; but the restaurant menu was good and the wait staff and front desk and door folks were great. If you're not allergic, be sure to give the hotel cat who sits on a perch overlooking the front desk and lobby a little scratch.

Oh my I just love this hotel in the heart of New York City right off Times square. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to the Dorothy Parker suite it was quite luxurious but also extremely vintage and authentic. While I was there, the hotel bar was not open for business, however the staff had no problem with us sitting there with our own booze and having a lovely party, not too loud of course. Plus there is a very handsome hotel cat. Truly I don't know what else you can expect out of a New York City hotel. I was charmed.

I wish I can give a higher mark, considering the historic building, atmosphere, and friendly cheerful service, from GM and reception. The main issues are around the fact that they simply don't have bar or restaurant open, and renovations stripped off the character of the place. No Blue Bar, Round table and nothing but the room. The room itself was small, but rather tasteful. The bathroom was way too small, and showed its age... It was quite noisy at night, despite the fact that the room was on a quiet side. Not as good of noise isolation as Sofitel next door. I shouldn't complain, since it was comp stay, but I am simply trying to be objective. Location is quite good BTW, away from low class Times Square and even lower class Penn Station and Port Authority bus terminal. Will give it another try, if the opportunity arises, to check on updated amenities.

The Algonquin, as we knew it, is no more. Of course the staff is still great but, it just doesn’t have the same feel. The ambiance is gone. During COVID shutdown the hotel went through a remodeling. The wallpaper is gone, the dining area is all but eliminated, Blue Bar is being used as a meeting room with the bar (not yet open) being moved into what was the dining area. You won’t recognize the reception desk. The lobby and dining are just ugly. It looks like any other chain Marriott. I used to think that it was the ambiance that made it worth the price but no more.

A landmark for literature lovers over the world, Algonquin-The Autograph Collection is the finest luxury hotel in Times Square, New York running right from 1902! The Algonquin Round Table is what it's famous for considered as a place where a lot of slang, phrases and attitudes were shaped. It's also the first prominent hotel in the New York allowing women to stay there alone. So, book a room there to experience the elegance and comfort.

Back in NYC. This time, for the most perfect 'Christmas in New York' - thanks to the Algonquin. From the time you arrive, you are greeted with courtesy, care, and a CAT. My goodness - the attention to detail at this hotel is second to none. The front desk is organized, attentive, and friendly. We were treated like celebrities from the moment we entered the building. Our room was clean, well-appointed, and extremely comfortable. And the hotel and the location... just a dream come true. We've always wanted to stay at the legendary Algonquin - and now that we're here, we have no regrets. This legendary place is living up to its everything it is known for. Come for the cat, stay for the excellence. Thank you Algonquin! We will be back!

We were just here from Minnesota for the Christmas weekend. We have traveled to many places before, This is a Excellent hotel with all the amenities perfect location. The service was phenomenal from the time we arrived to the time we left. Some visiting NYC can get over whelming with the big city, but the staff at the front desk direct us right where we need to go and know from our stay. Loved the decoration and the ambience from the clean lobby to the room. Clean rooms and very unique is what we like about it most definitely surpasses those so called 5 star over priced hotel chains. We have colleagues that come to NYC very often and will highly recommend this hotel and staff. We will definitely stay again.

Called in for breakfast on our last morning. The door staff were welcoming and directed us to the breakfast area where we were greeted by an Italian waiter who was very attentive. It was like stepping back in time to what I imagined the 20's to be. It was such a welcome contrast to all the other hectic eateries we had visited. It was calm and relaxing and we never felt rushed. We had the Farm egg BLT with a pot of tea AND coffee, totally delish and hit the spot. When we had finished, and ready to leave the waiter came over with a take away cup of fresh coffee which was fab. Definitely worth a visit if you want to escape the hustle and bustle for an hour or so.

I had a wonderful stay at The Algonquin hotel, one of the most historic and charming hotels in New York City. As soon as I exited the cab, I was greeted by a friendly doorman who helped me with my bags and escorted me to the lobby. There, I met Marissa at the front desk, who remembered me from a previous stay. check-in process quick and easy. She also helped me locate a restaurant I was looking to visit. My room was spacious, comfortable, and had all the amenities I needed in a NYC hotel room. The hotel also offers a 24 hour gym. Which was modern and clean. The bartenders were attentive and provided wonderful suggestions for drinks and dishes, all the food I tried was wonderful. The hotel combines the allure of classic New York City charm with modern amenities and impeccable hospitality. I can't wait to come back and experience it again.

So I just left the Algonquin Hotel after a 3 day stay and I have to say it was very enjoyable! The best part was unexpected though, there is a bartender there named Christian who has a passion for extremely amazing service, his service is so good that it made a big impact on my life and set an example of what really amazing service is. As I ride towards the Airport to fly home my mind is racing on all the new techniques I will implement to increase my service when I return home. The cats cute Staff is professional Location is fantastic Overall experience was excellent

This will be the only hotel I will stay at in Manhattan. There is a mystique here, a sort of brooding calmness seeped into the wood from the century plus of its existence. It inspires creative flourishes, a sense of security, and emotion. The service and staff are of a caliber of the old school: attentive, well-spoken, and knowledgeable. Hamlet VIII, the well-fed feline who enjoys the front desktop as much as the lobby carpet, is always the object of every guest’s searching glances. I must say, however, that I am very confused as to why the copious amount of mahogany which covers the walls and ceilings is painted a flat white: it is against the soul of the place.

Buyer beware! Goodness the hidden costs of this hotel added up to outrageous prices and we weren’t even able to see the folio after we checked out on our Marriott bonvoy account. When attempting to call back for help, Patrice at the front desk was unbelievably rude cutting me off and condescending in her responses. Rooms are subpar, tiny tiny restrooms and outsider of the doorman and bell hops, and the occasional glance of Hamlet the cat, this has now turned out to be the most disappointing hotels we’ve used our platinum elite points for. Save your money or stay across the street at the Royalton.

Took my girlfriend on a trip to NYC for Christmas. We had landed at LGA after a long day and began to look for our driver, who I had booked through the hotel days before. Turns out the driver had somehow forgot to pick us up, so ended up having to uber from LGA to hotel. When we arrived I spoke with Jermaine, (The person who had contacted our driver days ago to set up the ride) and he was extremely apologetic. He went above and beyond to make up for the mistake their driver had made. He ended up paying our Uber ride to the hotel, providing a free drink for me and my girlfriend at the hotels bar, as well as setting us up with a discounted ride to the airport on our day of departure. The hotel room itself was small, but large enough to be adequate for our few days stay. The toilet was loose on the floor and wobbled side to side when I sat on it, (Keep in mind I am skinny, 170lbs) the heater seemed to go between having the room way too hot, and then way too cold, and the heater made multiple extremely loud banging/popping every time it turned on. The noise woke us up a few times through every night we stayed. It was such a busy trip and I was so tired every day I did not even bother to try and get a room change. I stay exclusively at Marriott hotels, and have stayed at multiple brands including The W, Ritz-Carlton, The Westin, Courtyard and Townplace. This was my first time at an "Autograph Collection" hotel and I have to say, I was quite disappointed based on my past experiences with Marriott. Long story short; Customer service from Jermaine was incredible, but the hotel itself seemed to lack the quality I have come to expect from Marriott.

My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights, we arrived Wednesday morning and checked in around noon. When we arrived kevin at the door was very helpful with our bags. The first day we noticed when brushing our teeth very dark brown water coming from our faucet . Next time we went down stairs Jenny told us that was not usual and they would send somebody to take a look at it. Well I’m not sure if they did or not because it continued to happen to our bathroom sink. To the point we didn’t want to use it anymore and couldn’t trust to use it either. We also weren’t told of the 150$ charge for our 3 days and since we split the stay in two payments she charged us double. So 300$ for hotel fees. Pretty wild. You could use 30$ in hotel credits a day if you choose. But there is no room service fyi. But I guess that’s just typical in NYC. Overall the location is what you are paying for. Which is fantastic. But the brown water in the sink was a huge turn off and we won’t be back again. Also this is just a photo, I wasn’t able to post videos, otherwise I would.

Great location and a beautiful building made The Algonquin a solid hotel for our recent visit to Manhattan. Amenities were limited (no room service, few onsite additional services, etc), and the rooms were quite small for the price tag. With that said, everything was clean and the staff was awesome. Plus, there's a hotel cat which was delightful. Would stay here again.

My home away from home. I love the bones at this hotel. My room always feels haunted by benevolent sprits. Then there's always the Cat, I started with Mathilda and now there's Hamlet. The Blue Bar is always warm and interesting, a favorite for quick meals at the bar. I stay during my NYC recharges, a week of museums and old friends.

Jennie, Kevin (Valet), and the other young lady at the desk (Woman with a bun) were astounding. They made sure our experience was positive by being so welcoming and accommodating. They are such great assets to your team! Being a Marriott employee, I truly appreciate your staff’s kindness. Thanks for making my sure my birthday was a success. I will surly visit again! Sorry if I misspelled or forgot any names. Hamlet was such a charm.

This may have been the best customer service I have ever experienced at a hotel. The location is ideal, my son loved Hamlet (the house cat). They truly make you feel like family. One of the concierge followed after us to give my son a stuffed animal that looked like Hamlet. I can not recommend this place enough if you are staying near Times Square.

Mixed review. Very small room. They give you just two bath towels without asking for more which is annoying. Cannot call the restaurant in lobby to order food. Had to go down to pickup food. Waited 30 minutes for 3 huge wings. Tasty but soggy and not very good. Asked to have the wings taken off the bill which they did. Fries were excellent. They renovated the lobby / restaurant since our last visit. Nicely done. Service was very good at the bar / restaurant and breakfast was very good the next morning. Good location. Only a few blocks from most Broadway shows. Lots of restaurants in the area. Parking garage across the street which was convenient.

An old-school hotel convenient to the theater district. It’s a small boutique type hotel owned by Marriott. Rooms are on the tight side with our king room having a very small bathroom. But we like it, it’s small, convenient and apart from the usual tourist crowds. Best of all is the resident cat, Hamlet which hangs out in lobby and front desk area. Very friendly. Nice bar in the lobby. No room service but food available in bar and adjacent seating area.

Algonquin 1 bedroom suite was very comfortable for my family. Their staffs was very kind and the room service was good. This hotel was near all NYC attractions just few blocks away from Bryant Park, Times square and Broadway shows. Red Flame restaurant is step away from Algonquin and easy for lunch options.

Great staff, so friendly and helpful. It's the one thing that would have us go back. Food at the restaurant/bar very pricey. Better off going next door for breakfast or anything really. Rooms were so small you can't properly pull out the chair from the desk. No mini fridge which was actually a big drawback, considering how expensive NYC is. The room size wasn't that big of a deal because you should be out enjoying the city! Really love this place for it's decor too. Very fun and classy. Love that cat too! 😎

This has become our favorite place to stay in New York, stately, dignified, well appointed and with a beautifully updated restaurant/lounge. Though just 2 blocks away, the chaos of Times Square is absent on this block of 44th Street. A new fee structure encourages you to use the restaurant which we discovered was fantastic. Staff is professional and polite and the food is excellent in preparation and presentation.

Service, staff, the entire experience was spectacular. The amenities were over the top. The staff went out of their way to make me happy. The bed was so comfortable, best nights sleep I’ve had in a hotel. The restaurant menu was amazing. Loved the fish tacos, and the burger was beyond great. And the fully stocked bar is incomparable. They had everything you can imagine. I can’t rave enough about Rodney, the bartender. He really made me feel like I was being treated special, although I’m sure he treats all of his customers that way. What a great person. He made me feel like I was in his living room. The Algonquin is lucky to have him,as well as they are to have Anthony, Jason and Alana! The general manager ,Willis Loughead is the consummate professional on every level. What a team this is!

We had an amazing stay here! Due to a flight cancellation, we arrived 24 hours later than expected. We contacted the hotel and they let us cancel one night without penalty. Our bags were also sent to a different airport. They arrived at the hotel before we did, and they sent it up to our room so they would be waiting. This made a stressful travel delay that much easier for us. The staff at the hotel were very warm and welcoming. They were always ready to give us tips on where to go, had umbrellas waiting for us, would call a cab if we needed, anything. I would go back just do to how nice the staff were! Fun facts - the hotel is known for having a cat, currently Hamlet the VIII, who is always ready for love and attention.

Our stay was amazing. Clean. Beautiful. Historically significant. This is a superb option in a city that gives you an overwhelming number of choices. The staff was fantastic. The food and drinks were some of the best we experienced in the city. And of course, Hamlet made an appearance that made my day.

My wife and I stayed at the Algonquin Tuesday 8/16 for the first time. What a classic hotel with a rich history! Although quite “compact” we appreciated having suite #1112. Too small to entertain, but comfortable for one night. Three incredible things about the property: The People: George our breakfast server was very accommodating with outstanding attention to requests. Dulce our housekeeper was very polite and available to promptly fulfill our requests. Kevin the Doorman, helped us with important matter. Very polite and professional! (wife became witness during pandemic) Jennie & Edith the front desk agents were extremely polite and helpful. The BonVoy Breakfast: Fabulous two eggs, bacon, potato, bread and coffee The Location: We were doing a volunteer work in Bryant Park, therefore, the location was absolutely perfect. We highly recommend the Algonquin Hotel for the above mentioned reasons!

The hotel is under construction and most of their amenities including bar and restaurant are closed. Is located in a perfect area but doesn’t adjust to the price posted versus accommodation and service. For their average price you get the smallest room probably most of rooms are pretty small, 10-11 SqF.

This is a cute boutique hotel. The rooms are clean and the entire place smells great. Rooms are small but cozy. The bathrooms are pretty good, with all the standard vanity products. You get complementary water every day and the rooms are being cleaned every day. The lobby is beautiful, the staff is professional and helpful. However I have to rate it with 3 stars because the hotel is (at the time of our visit) not serving any food and drinks. This is temporary, because the ownership has changed and the hotel is waiting for the liquor license. However, this was never mentioned on the website and we are paying the full price. My stay is significantly less enjoyable due to this. Also, there's no gym available. If the lobby wasn't as beautiful, I wouldn't be so sad that I can't get a drink/ breakfast in the hotel.

We stayed here one night on our honeymoon. It was very nice. We’re not fancy people and the room was a gift. We enjoyed our stay. My only complaint is that since hotel is historic, there was no sound proofing in the room. They did tell us this when we arrived. We could hear everything going on outside, which made it difficult to sleep for someone who isn’t used to NYC noise. Otherwise, the service and included breakfast were great.
