One of several places I've regularly launched my folding sea kayaks here in NYC over the years. It is also a stop on my kayak-or paddle-board-based Midtown History Tours out of Manhattan Kayak Company. The John Jay Harvey fireboat, now retired but still functional as both a fireboat and tour boat helped put out the fire on the SS Normandie in 1940. There are several other things of historical interest to see as well, including the light ship Frying Pan, built in 1929, and the floating railroad barge. The series of photos with the red kayak on a care and puppy are from way back in 2003. Rest in peace my beloved Nixie.

Always ready to respond to this place calming effect on your senses. Plus the background is river rolling waves which will put your body at ease. And now you have to finish your time with this serenity. 👍🏼😇

This public pier is accessible most days and offers a great view of the Hudson River and great perspective of the Hudson Yards project. The boathouse is home to the Hudson Community Sailing School, a Kayak Polo outfit and a Outrigger company that offer traditional Polynesian outrigger tours on the River.

Had a nice late lunch with my family. Lively atmosphere; we opted to self serve, meaning we order and they give you a buzzer for when your food is ready. We found a table a pretty quickly. Bathrooms were downstairs and were pretty nice. We ordered ahi tuna tacos and pulled pork tacos with beers. Prices were comfortable and we had an amazing view of the city. Will return to have a sit down dinner.

With plenty of space you can enjoy an array of activities whether you have a proclivity for exercise, leisurely strolls, reading, or just being around nature. The park is extensive with paths and lawns along the shore but also on the piers themselves which permits a scenic view of the river and the city.
