As a Northwell Employee, I was truly disappointed in the way I was treated at this facility. I’m a first time mom and after hearing so many wonderful things about this facility, I decided to give birth here. Let’s start off with my initial visit. There was only 1 nurse examining patients. I explained to the nurse that my water broke however she had me sit there for almost an hour before she called me in. She kept asking me the same questions over and over every couple of minutes. I was finally seen and was admitted right away because I was 2 CM dilated. When I finally got to the labor room, I asked for an epidural because of the pain. It helped which I was thankful for. However it didn’t last long and I was feeling everything again. I told my nurse, she said the anesthesiologist will come check. There were 3 different anesthesiologist that came in at different times during this entire process. One of them was extremely rude but being in the situation I was in, I couldn’t even think of what to say to him. He walks in, yells at my husband and leaves. After giving birth, I was left in the bloody labor room for 10 hours. Then finally there was a bed available and when we got to the room, it was the tinniest room you can think of. I’m truly disappointed at the way we were treated. Especially being a diverse hospital, this experience made me feel otherwise. I will never recommend Katz to any family or friends!

My wife was scheduled for a c section at 10am . At first the procedure got delayed for a hefty few hours . However The whole team at the surgery (started at 2pm) area was great along with the doctor very nice and caring . Therefore fast forward back to the labor room . They kept us with our baby there for about 5 useless hours only because they couldn't have a room available for us . They were more worried about "shift change " instead of patients and babies just horrible definitely don't recommend this place for delivery. It's hectic and they just Make it miserable for you .. they kept us in the labor room from 4:20 till 9:20 while mom was in pain and etc .

I gave birth here as a FTM in January, at first prior to going there to give birth I read reviews and was honestly extremely nervous. I had to give birth here due to my OB being affiliated with them so I gave it a chance. I went around 4pm with contractions and was finally admitted at 5pm after waiting(which felt like forever) but as soon as I got in a room I was surrounded by nurses setting me up and checking me and my baby. After 15 minutes of being there as soon as the nurses walked out my water broke! I was quickly admitted and the process began. From the minute my water broke they made the experience seem so exciting as the nurse walked in and said “you are having your baby tonight!” And brought me to a L&D room. The nurse that stayed by my side the entire time was amazing! I didn’t want any noise around me, no lights on and she gave me exactly that. She knew the right time to speak to me because at some points I’d panic if spoken to or touched when my contractions came on strong. I opted for only taking Tylenol and the nurse looked at me like I was crazy (but honestly I was scared and took a risk feeling it all) after five hours of being in L&D my baby was ready to come out. I couldn’t wait any longer and the nurse was so gentle towards me and helped me start pushing until the doctor came in. He was absolutely amazing as well. The team the entire time was absolutely great!!! I seriously felt as if I couldn’t push anymore and was about to give up and all the nurses kept encouraging me to keep going. I swear if it wasn’t for the nurse screaming “just one more push!!!!” I wouldn’t have made it through 😅 then from there the nurse moved me to a room & hugged me saying she will never forget me because of how strong I was(I will never forget her!) and the nurse that prepared us for being first time parents was so thorough and coached us through it all. And the nurse that taught my fiancé how to change a diaper for his first time was so sweet & walked him through each step with no judgment and was funny while doing so. I wish I could remember everyone’s names but I’ll definitely remember their faces! I did not expect to have the best experience ever after reading / hearing so many negative experiences. I’m glad everything went so smoothly. It’s been 3 months since I had my baby girl and I would definitely do it again! If the nurses that helped me happen to come across this, thank you for everything!!!! And maybe in the near future I’ll be back!

Do not go to this place. Literally worst hospital I have ever been to in my entire life. Almost killed the person I fell in love with and our future son. Only 2 nurses in the room to deliver baby, no doctor present, she lost almost 2 liters of blood, they almost killed her. This is a university hospital; meaning most people who work with you are students experimenting on you for the first time. Save your future. PLEASE choose another hospital. RUN.

DO NOT COME HERE .. the sense of urgency is non existent and all of the staff seem annoyed with you!! I came because I was advised by my doctor to go to the ER.. 4months pregnant and in pain I was very nervous and sent to labor and delivery upon arriving I was sat in the waiting area. for 4 hours as I watch them seat moms who are actually contracting and In labor!! Telling one mom who took a walk to help with the pain “you chose to leave so the hospital no longer has responsibility for you” Two women were crying and were told to wait!! I was blown away.. I was told by receiving nurse I was put as a “low priority” the nurse made me feel like I just wasn’t important enough and didn’t care if I left because “other women were waiting longer”! I’m very sad because I really wanted to deliver here but I fear to come back and be treated this way again. You have been warned.

0 stars for the nurses and staff 0 stars for delivering doctor Reene O’Toole I had the worst traumatic delivering experience with this doctor. She came into the room didn’t introduce herself and starting pushing to get a C section done. My labor was induced and I was 9cm dilated, this doctor came in the room and starting pushing me for a C section saying the baby’s heart rate is dropping etc. I was heavily medicated and I got a panic attack twice after she left the room because she kept pushing for a time to do the C section. I ended up speaking to another delivering doctor and was told the heart rate was fine and I didn’t have to go into a C section. Extremely disappointed and disgusted that she’s allowed to even be a doctor considering she doesn’t know how to treat people or have any empathy or emotions and lies to patients. Please stay away from Reene O’Toole. I’m extremely disappointed that she’s a part of this hospital and she has several other bad reviews, does our experience not matter? I trusted Katz hospital but my family and I will NEVER go to them for anything ever again after this traumatic experience.

I could go on and on about this hospital! My registration nurse, Rosa, made me feel comfortable and like family. My surgeon, Dr Scanlon, and her team were thoughtful and thorough. I felt like I was in good hands. I traveled from FL because I was so comfortable with her. My recovery nurse, Alex, was strong, patient and so helpful. Since I was dizzy and nauseous from the anesthesia, I was admitted to the 4th tower, 4th floor. There, my night nurse, Deanne, small but so strong, responded quickly to my every page, helped me to the bathroom each hour throughout the night! My morning nurse, Sheree, was also kind and helpful, discharged me like a breeze and explained my meds to me, and didn't rush me out. The quality nurse manager, Smita, was also kind and made sure everyone was accommodating, and she walked with me up and down the hall. I wish I could've stayed there for a week! The room was amazing... clean, so spacious, with a spacious and beautiful bathroom, a large flat screen TV, and the most comfortable bed I've every been on! I'm getting ready to send them a thank you gift from edible arrangements.

They made Our experience HORRIBLE , STRESSFUL AND DISAPPOINTED.... Their lack of Negligence and Malpractice kills my baby girl 3 Days after,Even after a severe Contractions those nurses sent me back home and that same night I had to go back to the hospital. I insisted them to checked me and the baby , and that's when they realized My baby had already POOP INSIDE OF ME AND DRANK THE AMMON.. FLUID, Her blood pressure was going down. And Today the 25th of July I called the Social worker at the Hospital, And the Morgue. They have told me that CITY BURIED MY BABY WITHOUT LETTING ME KNOW

If I can give this hospital 0 stars I would but I had to give them something in order to post this review. I had the worst experience at LIJ Katz Women’s Hospital. First off I had to have an emergency c-section because they were giving pitocin to drink and it started to affect my baby’s heart rate. Second they gave me way too much anesthesia to the point I was shaking for 3+ hours in the recovery room and I couldn’t feel my legs. I was shaking so bad I was unable to hold my baby. Last but not least a botched circumcision was performed on my son and I couldn’t do a single thing about it. I tried to follow up with the hospital and they basically dismissed me over and over again.

My experience in this hospital wasn't the best. Labor & delivery nurses were not careful with my newborn. My newborn have full sets of hair but I noticed there was a bloody scar back of her head and i assumed it'll go away but it been 2 months and the bald spot is still there and its getting bigger as she's growing. I'll be very upset if her hair doesn't grow back due to this injury and have this forever bald spot because the employees in the hospital is careless. Also, some of the postpartum nurses were rude & lack compassion. I asked if I can get more formula for my baby at 3am, 5am, & 6am but she didn't bring it to me, she later told me she's switching her shift so I should ask the morning nurse which is very unprofessional! I called at 7am and asked for formula and they told me someone will come up to bring it to me. My baby was hungry & crying and I'm not producing breast milk at the moment so I felt very stressed & overwhelmed as a new mom. My heart felt so broken and I wanted to cry. Also, the nurses were very passive aggressive about breastfeeding and even wrote "breast feeding on demand". Of course I want to breastfeed but that wasn't the case for me. I would only have very tiny milk trying to pump for few hours straight and because of that I would feel very guilty and frustrated. Finally someone bought me the formula for my baby at 8:30am. I shouldn't need to ask so many times and it shouldn't take this long to feed my baby. Mind you, newborn eat every 2 hours. This was very upsetting.

Our experience with the Katz Women's Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center was amazing from start to finish. From early on in our pregnancy, we knew that we wanted a natural birth. We visited LIJ on one of their information and immediately felt at home. From the start, we were impressed bY Dr. William and her team members RN SAMANTHA with other few attendants, and their commitment to the families they care for. Not only are they knowledgeable and extremely competent, but they are also incredibly kind and empathetic. The care they provide is exceptional in every way. As first-time parents, we had plenty of questions and anxieties. They always gave us their full attention and would take as much time as needed to address our questions and concerns. The midwives and staff took the time to make us feel cared for on a heart level. RN SAMANTHA attended the birth and brought with her steady presence through unexpected twists and turns. Her wisdom, presence of mind, and confidence in our strength were invaluable. Our postpartum care was also exceptional. I struggled to process aspects of our birth experience. Knowing this, both RN Marissa, Taniko diamond, and RN MERCY along with patient care assistants VIOLET during postpartum made themselves available to process with me. The love and support they provided to my family were truly a gift. The care was given exceptional overall I would choose and recommend The Katz Women's Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center on any given day. I would personally recommend everyone to come to the Katz Women's Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Again, I thank everyone who participates and helped us through the journey of my new arrivals. I'm very grateful to each and everyone who helped us get to overcome our journey.

To say I had a horrible experience delivering my 3rd son is truly an understatement. After an amazing experience having twins naturally at Cornell, I did not expect the 3rd to be such a disaster. Too long to explain, but the gist is that the nursing staff was extremely rude to me / yelling at me while I was vomiting in pain from 10 hours of feeling contractions every 30 seconds (after an initial 20 hours of labor prior to that). Obviously from the prior statement, the anesthesia team was awful, since not only did my epidural not work but they were trying to convince me it did and that I just could not handle the pain. I know what a good epidural feels like and that was not it. I was more than understanding that my husband could not be there due to COVID-19, but had hoped to have some compassion... or at least just respect from the clinical team. The OB docs were non-existent so no comment on them. Not only was it the worst clinical experience but I have also never felt so disrespected in my life, at a time when it should have been so joyous. I am writing this and will file a complaint so that hopefully this never happens to anyone else ever again.

It’s a shame that they charge expectant mothers for parking. Had an overall great hospital stay but when they leave they don’t validate parking for a mother even though she just delivered a baby at their facility. Shameful for such a large organization such as Northwell. This will reflect poorly on the institution.

first time ever have i experienced any medical staff tell me they would prefer i went to another hospital. i’m 37.5 weeks pregnant and katz was the closest hospital to home. i thought i had a possible rupture and went in to double check to ensure everything was okay with the baby. the nursing staff on the night shift were great, but then the midwife came in was was rude and she wasn’t too friendly. after completing whatever was necessary to ensure the baby was okay she said they had to monitor the baby’s movement for 20 mins. that lasted an hour. the doctor then came in and said everything was fine and SHE WOULD PREFER I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL MY OBGYN WAS AFFILIATED WITH NEXT TIME. she then proceeded to tell me the nurse will be in with the discharge paperwork. the midwife came back in, didnt disconnect any of the monitors from my belly and was basically rushing my out the door. if the staff isn’t happy with their shift or something is bothering them, it definitely should not interfere with the way they speak to or care for their patients. and doctors definitely should not tell a patient they would much rather you go to a different hospital to deliver. 🙄🙄 especially when katz is the closest location to home. absolutely unacceptable.

Excellent hospital, the care of the medical team and the nurses, especially the nurse named NIKKI, she was wonderfully affectionate and I always received excellent care from her, she was one of the best people who treated me, I had my c-section here and it was like being in a good hotel, as in all places there are always people who are not so nice I say this because only one nurse was very rude and does not deserve to work there or give care to patients I proceeded to report her and they assured me that this should not have happened and That would not happen to any other patient, but everything else was very good. I really recommend this wonderful place.

I had by far one of the most amazing experiences I could of ever imagined . I’m 24 and was giving birth to my first baby Lyla, prior to coming in they told me I had to be induced due to pregnancy complications and I have SEVERE ANXIETY!!! Which is why it was so important for to choose a good hospital. As soon as I checked into the hospital EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THE STAFF was welcoming and friendly! They placed me in a induction room where they monitored me made me feel comfortable waited on me constantly asked me if I was okay explained to me every single procedure to put me at ease , they had patience and made me feel safe and cared for . When my water finally broke I clenched up and was terrified and overwhelmed with anxiety and felt like I was going to pass out , my nurse held my hand and talked me through it incouraged me in a way that made everything feel better they walked me through the pushing process so well my vagina barely tore , and my baby came out within 2 PUSHES!!! I was so grateful and happy . They also provided me with lessons in after care of my baby and made sure I felt prepared before I left the hospital , they came in to my recovery rooms and even helped me changed diapers and bathed my baby for me. AMAZING ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

Gave birth April 2020 at Katz amid covid pandemic, just following the apex. I was not high risk although I was induced since my water broke before contractions started. The staff did not support natural childbirth methods. They did not allow freedom in the birth process and had very strict rules, specifically not allowing me off the continuous fetal monitor for a minute during an induction. Since the monitor wouldn’t stay positioned if I moved they didn’t want me off my bed at all. Was not allowed to eat the entire time although i did not get an epidural. I heard the nurses speaking in the hallway about a woman giving birth in an adjacent room saying ‘we all wish she would just take an epidural.’ The labor and delivery nurse was rough at best. Rooms were very clean. Delivery room was large and had the peanut ball. I’m not reviewing based on the awful recovery experience since it was not under normal circumstances due to covid. The deliver and especially the recovery bed was SUPER uncomfortable.... bring extra pillow and blanket if you plan to deliver here. The triage nurses were really sweet and helpful as well as the lactation consultant. Recovery area was probably just overwhelmed but I didn’t experience extra support although my partner was not allowed to be there bc covid. Overall I recommend mamas to travel a little further or find another place if you want support or freedom for natural methods. Or to just not feel as much of a number in the baby factory. I think if I needed the nicu or had some kind of high risk issue this may be a good place to be but I felt a lot of their policies were not necessary for a fairly normal delivery and I felt very constrained.

Most of their staff and doctors are great professionals who knows how to provide the best care. However, there are many residents/students who might act unprofessionally, e.g. take photo of your newborn baby without a proper introduction and explanation, because that is only way they learn there. Most disappointing moment was that they gave us the worst room with broken and cracked ceiling and furniture, although there were many available and better rooms. They definitely discriminate, especially if you are Asian. My recommendation is to explore other hospitals who will not treat you differently based on your race.

Good food, Great care, everyone very respectful, they ask you how do you feel all the time, and encourage you to state what you need. They helped me with the breastfeeding process. They explained all paperwork and make sure you understand everything you are signing. They did everything to my child in the same room, and never separated her from me🎉 I’m extremely happy and I can’t thank enough to my beautiful nurses: Devena, Dreidria, Maria, Karolina and others that made my stay beyond pleasant. Blessed to say that I gave birth to my first child in the best hospital ever🥰 May GOD bless all the lovely service providers in Katz Women’s Hospital. A trillion Thanks! ♥️

I had a great birthing experience here. I came on 12/25 to get induced and was immediately given a room. I wasn’t able to eat actual food but was able to have ginger ale and soups. The nurses I had were very nice and caring they were understaffed though so sometimes they took longer. I didnt have to wait more than 10-15 minutes for my epidural when asked for. I had babyboy 12/26 he was mu first born and the nurse and the doctors told me how to push which prevented me from tearing. In postpartum the nurses were also amazing too they taught me everything I needed to know to care for myself and my babyboy, they have a menu selection for food and gave me a postpartum kit to take home. Overall I would come back here.

My daughter had our first grand baby at Katz Women’s Hospital a week ago. All of the staff was beyond excellent with the exception of one who happens to be a nurse. This particular nurse had no personality whatsoever. After many requests to have my granddaughter given her first bath, we had the pleasure of watching this particular nurse (Violet) man handled this little innocent child who was only in the world a little more than 48 hours.. it was unbelievable the way this nurse (Violet) bathed this little angel.. My daughter and wife began to cry while watching this unpleasant event. Surprisingly the nurse ( Violet ) asked why were they crying, my wife replied “ we’re emotional “. My wife wanted to voice her concerns to the nurse (Violet), however elected not to as she didn’t want to overstep her role only being the grandmother… Situations like this spoils the awesome customer service that was rendered by the many professional staff upon arrival and throughout my daughter’s stay. While this experience doesn’t necessarily speak for the majority, it certainty gives a black eye to all of the hard work that’s being put in. It is my hope that nurses like this be imminently removed and reassigned. The maternity ward requires responsible compassionate professional staff at all times with no exceptions.

my grandma had cancer and once the doctors told her and my family they couldn't do anything else to treat her cancer, they stopped making rounds and checking in on her, and totally made her very depressed because she felt they gave up on her and just let her rot. and another day when my grandma needed something and the nurse in the room talking to the other patient when my grandmas boyfriend asked where to get nurse she replied one will be right with you and a nurse never came... i cant believe the doctors and some nurses can be that crude. dont bring your loved ones here if they get diagnosed with anything if you want them treated with the best care if they can cure it or even if they CANT cure it.

Beautiful hospital but disappointed with the staff. Wife came to deliver a baby. Wife was 10cm dilated yet the doctor Artur Gusturani wasnt actively in the room. He came in and out every 30mn. Then has the gal to say shes been 10cm dilated for over 4hours and needs to have a c section. Maybe if u were there to assist her in pushing for over 10mn at a time? (C section went well so pleased with that) When confronted why hes not being in the room he says he has 6 other patients- um 10cm ready to push, so lets cut up my wife because u have 6 patients and couldnt attend to her?? Also to mention the nurse Quanisha who my wife had while pushing. Very cold and not someone you would want while in labor. Focus more on assisting the patient not documenting every 5mn while someone is pushing. The other nurses were great. Needless to say will not be coming back here.

My experience with Long Island Jewish Katz woman center was very surprising. I had major surgery on Tuesday and by Wednesday the residents were hinting about sending in home, even though I was very constipated and in a lot of pain, one nurse said under her breath, why she just go home, on Thursday they refused to give me any more stool softer medication and permission to take a shower, which on Wednesday I took a shower by myself. One of the residents came and talked to me, and she gave me the impression she also wanted me to leave the hospital. I feel with Covit 19, pandemic the medical professional community lost the caringness and the bedside manner.

Hello! I have a complaint about one of your concierges. His name is Abie Varughese. I arrived at 12:40 for my 1pm appointment. Abie insisted that I go to the next building (Ambulatory Care). I told him that I go to the main building for my ultrasound at MFM, but he insisted that I go to the other building. Have he checked his computer he would know that I have an appointment. Still I believed him because he works there. I walk to the other building. I was sent to the C-Level (Ob-Gyne). I waited and waited until 1:50pm came. MFM called me that I missed my appointment. I said Abie Varughese sent me to the other building. I had to rush back to the main building. I saw Abie and complained that I was early for my appointment because I don’t want to be stressed as I am high risk of losing my baby before 24 weeks. My family and friends have been so careful not to give me any stress, and give me rest for the last few weeks because we want a healthy baby. Abie Varughese did not even apologized. He checked his computer and lo and behold I have an appointment in the freaking main building. This is not good. This is not great customer service. Especially for a high risk pregnant woman. I am beyond disappointed. If he doesn’t want to listen to women, he should not be working there dealing with pregnant ladies. Sir Abie listen to the patients; don’t just brush them off. You do not know what pregnant women go through.

Delivered my son here on November 1st. The labor and delivery nurses are incredible and I am very happy with the care my baby and I received. My only complaint is the horrid woman at the registration desk when you first walk in. She was extremely cold and rude for absolutely no reason and should not be the first person people have to deal with when they arrive here, especially when they are already feeling nervous.

Labor and delivery nurses were amazing. Nurse Tina really was truly the best nurse there! Unfortunately, in the postpartum room, nurses i had, had attitude. They didn’t even wheel chair me out. I was weak and tired. Didn’t know I had that option.

We recently moved to the area and needed to continue our pre-natal care, LIJ/Katz made the process easy. However after visiting with them as a health care professional myself…I find the care to be cold, transactional, insurance based and inconvenient at times in terms of appointment locations and times. I am met with a different NP or Dr upon every visit, there is no empathy- just business. I was offered every vaccine and contraception like a sales pitch. Would not recommend for a 1st time mom. I’m praying for a healthy and safe delivery and I will never go back to them again.

BAD EXPERIENCE: On July 25th, 2020 I took my friend who is 24 weeks pregnant to this hospital around 12 AM because she was having contractions, a lot of pain in her stomach, and also vomiting. We got off the elevator at the 3rd floor & luckily we were the only patients there so we were admitted and taken to a room quickly. However, when it came down to speaking about what was going on and why she was having contractions and the pain, the Nurse Practitioner NOR any of the other 2 nurses could give us a solid answer. Even with all three of them in the room, they were going back and forth asking each other for clarification on things and also asked my friend the same questions over and over! (RED FLAG) The only thing they did tell us was that my friend was dehydrated and gave her an IV. They did not put her mind at ease AT ALL regarding the baby and we CONSTANTLY had to ask if everything was alright and what the issue was. They did a sonogram, checked her cervix (which they said was fine), gave her Tylenol, and took her urine to see if they can figure it out from there. After they gave her the Tylenol they were RARELY attentive and I had to peek my head out the door more than once to see if anyone was available. The monitor strapped to her stomach for the baby’s heart beat kept moving due to the baby moving & even though outside of the room they can hear that we no longer heard the heart beat, they still took their sweet time coming into the room to fix it (with me asking them to). I had to constantly ask about the urine test results, which took a long time to be available. When my friend asked them what was causing the excruciating pain because of course she was worried, the Nurse Practioner replied “I don’t know but we do know that you’re dehydrated”. The Tylenol helped the contractions slightly but not enough for her to be sent home. When they asked her if the pain was getting better she told them no and they still said they were going to discharge her even as she was having contractions & in pain signing those discharge papers. They advised her to take the Tylenol every 6 hours as needed and after she was given the papers they left the room and never came back in. (They were handed to the woman who worked at the front desk) After we already left and reached downstairs they called her and told her that if she can, she should call her doctor to move her appointment that was scheduled for 12:15 PM that day (being we left at 4am) up a little earlier if she can, that if she keeps having these contractions she may have to prepare for preterm labor & everything else that should of been said to her WHILE WE WERE UPSTAIRS STILL IN THE ROOM. Overall it was a horrible experience! She birthed her first child there 3 years ago and the hospital was not like this. I’m not sure if it’s because during night shifts they don’t care as much which is terrible but 24 WEEKS PREGNANT having contractions to the point that you need a wheelchair is not normal and they should’ve done way more!! Very disappointed! I’m giving them 2 STARS because the lady at the front desk was nice and helpful and the hospital was clean.

I delivered my baby girl here on august they took their time to give me a room, even with painful contractions, but I can’t complain everyone did their best, they were very kind and respectful, they explained every single step to me with details and were very patient with me, the nurses very kind with me and with me and with my family too, and I had a really nice experience and I think my baby too, they provided me with food and even a meal to share with one member of my family/friends, they discharge me to home with pampers and a bunch of baby stuff for the first days, thank you for everything 🙏🏻

I just had my baby on the 9/2 and I just wish I could go back and hug every single doctor/nurse/healthcare provider in my delivery room and the ones who took care of us after. I arrived at the hospital at 5am at 7cm dilated by the time I was admitted I was 9cm and ready to push with no epidural which wasn’t my plan. The nurses made me feel so safe and important and taken care of. They kept it real with me and were so supportive and sweet. I was admitted at 5:36 and my baby was born at 6:11 so it was all a big, fast and painful blur but I know I was treated with love and care in that room and during my entire stay. They made my already wonderful experience of welcoming my baby boy into this world even more amazing. Every single nurse was knowledgeable and caring, offering help and advice around the clock and I went home so happy and more than satisfied with my birthing experience.

My wife came here to deliver our first child. Let me start with the positive some of the nurses were very nice and professional and gave my wife a peace of mind, especially Nicole and Kelly on the 3rd floor. She had to get a C section because they were failing to resuscitate the baby. Apparently in labor and delivery resuscitate means something different which no one explained so we thought the worst-case. The team that performed the C section were phenomenal and helped my wife be at ease during surgery. We were moved to the 4th floor where things seem to be worse. Some of the nurses didn't have good bedside manners but I'm thankful for Maria who was supportive and helpful and understanding of what my wife was going through. The concept of time doesn't exist here today we're supposed to be discharged at 10 we saw the doctor for my wife then had to wait on the pediatrician at 12 its now 2:10 and finally the baby is getting discharged.

Reading the reviews before our visit and admission in hospital for the delivery of my baby 👦.. Honestly my wife is afraid of everything what is going to happen. But i was quite satisfied because i have an past experience of hospital job and i know that usually it happens during your stay in a hospital that some time you treated very well and sometimes you face a worse situation. We thank to Allah (God) almighty for every single event during our stay in this hospital is great... Doctors and specifically Nurse staff help us alot and treated very well outstanding. I know its not very simple to say.. But i suggest to all moms and dads that the way you treated is much depend on how you reacted. I appreciate and mentioned a couple of nurses names those were with us and help a lot if i miss any name pls i apologized. I say thanks to mini..chandra..ghabby..(located on 5th floor) and a couple of nurses from 3rd floor viven.. Thanks for your cooperation. God bless you every body and good luck.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to Dr. Esther Hirschhorn and her team for delivering my baby safely and healthy. I cannot imagine successfully giving birth via normal delivery anywhere else but Katz as I am at high risk. But that was made possible by these professional group of people. I also wanted to thank our nurses Susu & Stephanie for taking good care of me before and after delivery, you guys made my life easy. And also to Linda from the recovery. I also want to thank Dr Jonathan for his gentle approach on introducing the Foley bulb that made me dilate faster. I will always choose Katz womens Hospital and Dr Esther Hirschhorn for my future pregnancy. Thank you so much for a positive birth experience I would never forget.

Very promptly attended to. Was pleasantly surprised that I was seeing the Doctor within ten minutes of my arrival. My assigned Nurse Jessica was very professional and immediately put me at ease. Since I am a "hard stick" (difficult to find veins for an IV) I was pleasantly surprised that she was successful on her second try. The Medical staff commumicated with me very clearly. At no time was I left wondering what was going on. Thanks ED Staff at Katz Women's Hospital. God bless your collective healing hands.

My son was born here just a few days ago and overall it was a top shelf experience across the board. Staff and doctors were all excellent. We did have one nurse in the sixth floor group he extremely rude to us when our ride home took longer than expected, so that sort of out a damper on an otherwise wonderful experience but I won’t ding the hospital over one angry nag of a nurse. On the off chance anybody from Northwell actually cares it was a lady with a Caribbean accent working on the 6th floor around 5pm on 9/27/22 Lucky for her I was in the shower and couldn’t get out fast enough to give her an earful

I had an eh experience for my delivery. D.O Emily Tetelman had bad bedside manners and wasn’t the nicest. She rushed my delivery, got upset if I didn’t push the way she wanted. Which btw caused me to tear more. Last time I gave birth I barely tear because they really helped me to push. The stitching she did on me after was so painful. I didn’t feel no pain last time. This made recovery extremely hard. Check in was so long for someone who was soaked and water broke there. They took forever to get someone to give me epidural, 3 hours. My labor was 5 hours total so kinda pointless. I was in so much pain. The epidural didn’t work, someone had to come and give me more and try to fix it. I could still feel my legs and a lot of abdominal pressure. It was so hard to lay down due to this. Btw the anesthesiologist was still new, wasn’t confident in what she was doing. The room was so cold that when baby was born, they had to be under heat for awhile to warm up. I was shivering. The only pros was the nurse I had was helpful. Me dilating to 10cm happened so fast, they didn’t have time to call in students, residents, etc. So it was just the doctor and nurse for my delivery. Which was great because as ppl may know a learning hospital will have so many UNNECESSARY ppl at your delivery. The nurses afterwards were nice. Sometimes they would take awhile to assist. Nobody bothered much after delivery. You didn’t have so many unnecessary people come in for this or that like other hospitals. Other than that I’m not sure about delivery here.

This place is amazing and it was a wonderful experience for me and my wife. My wife gave birth about a month ago and we had a beautiful little boy. We stayed there for 3 days/nights on the 6th flr. The staff was great to us both night and day shifts. A couple of names I remember that were really nice, Sonia, Maria, Lindsay, Kate. Food wasn't that bad. They definitely fed us. But overall the night/day staff were really attentive to my wife's needs and well being plus the baby's needs as well. Also I forgot to mention every staff member who attentively looked after my wife before and after delivery on the 3rd floor. They were also magnificent. I appreciate you all, be safe and God bless you.

This is my third time giving birth here and each and every time I have had a good experience. My third labor by far was the quickest and easiest and I couldn’t have done it without the help of the amazing nurses on staff. The L&d nurses Emily (who helped me through my painful contractions) & Tina (who coincidentally delivered my second baby also) were amazing. My postpartum nurses Hermelina & Shannon were angels. Thank you!

Had a wonderful delivery team with Dr. Donn, nurses, residents, and anesthesiologist - wish I could name them all! They kept me in the loop about everything they were doing and thinking. They did their best to avoid c-section and we successfully had a natural delivery/induction in such a positive way!

Where do I start. If you are looking to finish that book you haven’t had the time to read. Bring two because the wait is hours. There hasn’t been a time I waited less than 2 hours. How is it you open at 7 am and by 8 am you are already backed up 2 hours. They drastically overbook appointments and don’t care that you have to wait HOURS.

After going to this hospital for a minor surgery, all I can say is that Dr. Sturim, another doctor whose name is unfortunately escaping me at the moment, and all the nurses from pre op, the anesthesiology nurse, and post op at this hospital are were truly unmatched with regard to their kindness, care, and support from start to finish. While it may not have been a great day for me, they did their very best to comfort me and make sure I had everything I needed before and after the surgery. They were kind and respectful to my husband and made sure to check in with him before and after surgery immediately. I highly recommend this hospital for anyone seeking great care.

Nurses and doctors are the best. SOME RECEPTIONISTS (not all) This is another story. No courtesy or compassion for somebody that needed to go to the cafeteria and wait to visit her father as they allow only two people with the patient. Even when he was told that she was going to the cafeteria to wait - not to his room - and she was not feeling well, he scolded her and her nephew out of the facility. Abuse of power is what I call this. People have to be more humane. 6/28/21 4:30 pm

So jan 5 2019, my wife woke up with crazy bleeding (8 months prego), got her to the hospital asap. The only thing bad with this hospital is the secretary/nurses on the 4th floor rite where you fill the application. They take their sweet time like 20-30 min due to alot of people bsing about pain nd w.e as well when they do the first exam took the nurse practitioner 15 min to come I told them my wife was bleeding out and they asked did her water break? Meanwhile it was something more serious going on. My baby inside my wifes stomach was swallowing all the blood for god knows how long. We had to go for emergency labor as well the baby went threw code blue thank god all is well but just thought of leaving a review so they get more serious about that situation. Doctors, Nurses in nyque and the 6th floor were great bought them all dinner for their amazing work Thank god all is well but things could have went better if she was examined 40 min when we walked in.

I had a c section and the doctors was amazing and the mostly everyone was amazing. My problem was how they acted when I asked for formula. It was if I was asking for the worst drug in the market. They would barely give and if was it was like I was begging for formula. I decided to leave in two day rather than 3/4 days and was discharged. I was waiting in the room for the wheel chair which took 1 1/2 hour's and the only one bottle with me because my husband packed the car already. The nipple malfunction and all the milk spilled. I asked for another bottle and no one was able to give me 1 more bottle to feed my baby when I spent $55000 on two day stay. This was very disheartening because as a mom nothing matters but your baby and the fact that no one wanted to give me a bottle because I was “discharged “ was unacceptable. The second thing was the room I was in was freezing cold and I kept asking for help but nothing happened until 10am. I had to send my baby to the nursery because it was way too cold for him to be in. This was too bad because it was eventually resolved and I had an alternative to have baby safe. I originally gave them 1 star but after today I had to update it. It has been 5 days postpartum and they have been calling and checking on my postpartum and making sure I’m healthy.. their effort has to improve rate for women recovering in the us. Under their guidance I was directed to go to the hospital because of high my pressure has been high. ❤️

It’s a great place to give birth. My wife likes this place. All of the doctors and nurses were helpful and responsible. We met Denelle (RN), who is really a good human and an amazing nurse; we will keep her in our prayers. And then Keri (RN) and Beth (RN) were also nice and perfect. Only two of the nurses were not helpful; I don’t want to mention their names. I believe they were racist. Overall, it was a great experience for us.

We had our baby girl last week Tuesday, and I just want to give a huge shout out to the labor delivery team, on the 3rd floor. My fiancĂŠ was induced on Sunday and did not give birth until Tuesday, every single member we had help us was so nice, answered all our questions, was patient, and really showed they cared for the well being of our daughter and my fiancĂŠ as well. The process was slow, in a good way because they don't rush anything, and make sure the baby is stress free! If we have more kids, this is the place we will go, and will recommend everyone to go as well. Some of the staff we remember are, Tina super sweet and nice, Beth was awesome, Dr. Jones was very insightful, Sabrina was awesome, Nicole was so pleasant, Keedna (5th floor) was so patient, Marie was outstanding with us (5th floor), Miriam Tarrash was literally amazing with my fiancĂŠ. Wish you all nothing but the best and will keep you all in our prayers!

This five stars is for the care that i received from Dr. Phipps while delivering my baby. She was EXCEPTIONAL. My ob wasn’t able to deliver my baby but when I saw it was Dr. Phipps I was very much relieved because I was going to chose her to be my ob if my ob who came recommended by my sister in law did not take my insurance. I really received amazing care from everyone i came into contact with (nurses, doctors, other clinical staff) . One issue was a resident made an inappropriate comment and he got upset at the nurse/stormed out. But he checked his attitude and came back during the pushing phase. He was very encouraging along with everyone else in the room. This was my first pregnancy and I will definitely choose LIJ when I have children in the future. I had Dr. Hippolyte as my Ob during my pregnancy which she also provided great care.

The best service for my new born. 3rd child and the other 2 were elsewhere. This was by far the best experience. I( the father) was allowed to stay every day all night so long as my wife wished for my companionship and company. We were also told that we could even have one more additional person all night. Other hospitals made me leave for the night. Our newborn was given to me while in recovery (other hospitals did not allow me to be in recovery room let alone with my child for the first few hours. Our baby was allowed to stay with us all night or could be brought to nursery. Other hospitals made my newborns stay at the nursery for some time. I got the leftovers of my wife's food and was so delicious as if a chef personally prepared my food. We want to go back just for the food. Parking wasn't bad, 8 dollars a day. Also had Valet parking for higher price of course. The Nurses were all so helpful. The only con was the bed, my wife said they made her shoulder side and neck hurt really bad so the second night she slept with me on the couch.

I can’t thank these doctors and nurses enough they way the took care of my daughter. If I could give you a million stars I would. They took her under their wings like the angels they are when her own doctor did not while having to make a decision to loose her child or her life. Her doctor should not be affiliated LIJ because those doctors deserve to be on a higher pedestal. Just want to say to all the doctors and nurses I appreciate and would never forget your professionalism and kindness. It wasn’t just about your job. You cared and that make my daughter grief so much easier thank you. 🙏🏽

Hands down the worst experiences I’ve had I’ve the past two days. I had my daughter in 2013 and I must say the care has changed in this hospital for the absolute worst! No communication, they leave you uninformed, they move you to areas with no indication of who or what you’re waiting on and then you kind of just sit there. The fact that I have NEVER walked out of a LIJ facility and had to do so 2xs in the past week is baffling and I am highly disappointed.

My experience of recent in this hospital traumatized me, no one with a major problem should ever I repeat ever come here, if they don’t want to end up gone. I am yet to seek therapy after such a horrible experiences. Please if you love your life don’t go here periodt. Horrible, horrible, horrible place. My sister passed on in this hospital, it was a very traumatic experience for me, I do not recommend this place, never. What she need was dialysis, they kept on giving her medications. I was insisting they transferred her, the Doctor’s said they could treat her with medications, now my sister is gone. Do not come here if you have a major health problem, never.

This hospital was horrible. They hate men. If your wife or love one is having a baby just stay home the hospital doesn’t want men in the room. They rather have the mother alone with no support by her side. They didn’t even give me my support meal as I was there for 5days and they said it was entitled to me because I was support. This is a hospital full of lairs and I pray me and mines never come her again. 2 thumbs down I would give zero stars.

Gave birth to my daughter over a year ago . I was a nervous wreck. My experience was beyond amazing from the moment I walked into labor and delivery everyone was so warm and kind from the front desk, labor and delivery nurses to the ob that delivered my baby. Wish I could remember the last nurse name that I had she was such a sweet and kind hearted person and could tell she loves her job
