Went there to celebrate my birthday. It’s a very classic steak house. Food quality is good. Their Mac and cheese isn’t my favorite but my partner loves it. Love the services and the environment is not bad. The staff did not push us to order anything we didn’t want to which I really appreciated. A little too crowded for seating but still acceptable for me.

You come to NYC to eat and one of those things NYC is know for is steakhouses. S&W is a staple and a must try! We came here for a friends birthday and went a little crazy. First things first, some bottles of wine for the table. We went with a nice red that was going to pair well with the surf n turf coming out way. The seafood platter with lobster, shrimp, and crab was an excellent starter. For our main, we did a dry aged porterhouse and a Cajun Rib Steak. Both of these were INCREDIBLE. We also munched on some thick cut steakhouse bacon, some onion rings, some whipped potatoes, corn, spinach, mash potatoes, all which were amazing. To wrap it up we tried a little bit of everything from the dessert menu. Id say the cheesecake and the carrot cake were standouts here. I can’t wait to go back.

The restaurant is a bit old, and the service and food are perfect! The steak is very delicious. It looks expensive, but it has 24oz, which is enough for two people. The taste of soup, bread, and mushroom is also excellent. It was very recommended!

Our group had a great time at Smith & Wollensky. The unlimited wine pouring with four different options and the delicious three-course meal made for a wonderful experience. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly and had an amazing flavor. Even the leftovers were still juicy! The service was incredibly efficient and made our large group feel welcomed. The generous desserts at the end of the meal were the perfect way to end the evening. However, the only downside was the behavior of some of the customers on the night we were there. Many people got drunk and behaved inappropriately for a classy steakhouse.

Whilst the food is pretty darn good the service makes the evening pretty neutral. The prime rib is definitely better than the sirloin, which turned out to be pretty dry. The side veggies were very bland. Dessert was very good. The carrot pie and cheesecake were excellent. It may have been busy, but the service was pretty bad. Getting a smile out of our waiter was like drawing blood from a rock. Atmosphere - too dark and tables upstairs were crammed to the brim. Not comfortable at all, not pleasant and unless you like sitting with your back straight up against the people behind you, don't come here on a busy evening. For the same price there are other better options with the same quality food but a much more pleasant and comfortable setting, with friendlier waiters. Why pay for such unpleasant service and uncomfortable seating? I know this is a great institution but I'm not coming back any time soon.

Great service and great food. My steak was not cooked at my desired temperature but was still very good (I didn't want to fuss since I know I'd be warming up leftovers). We were stuffed with just a few bites but wanted to keep eating because it was so good!

The 5 is for the excellent service and phenomenal scallops. The couldn’t get my steak cooked the way I like it but they swapped it with the diver scallops and they were great. We ordered the Bone in rib eye and bone in NY Strip. Both were MASSIVE! I like my steak well no pink but moist, I know it’s a challenge but I’ve had luck in many great steak houses but not here. After 3 tries we switched to the scallops. The NY Strip was too big to finish. The scallop appetizer was better than the entree but both were good. The tomatoes and onion were just okay. The wait staff were absolutely amazing and incredibly attentive! Thank you!

Very nice location, big portions and friendly staff, however the service isn't great, especially to US standards. The bread was neither great taste nor fresh. Stakes mostly overcooked. Overall the food is very average and overpriced. Great wine choice.

Porterhouse was cooked just right, Fried calamari was lightly battered, cream spinach was light and smooth and hash brown was crispy crust and soft inside. All the food was great except the bacon was way too salty and house bread wasn't fresh. Chocolate cake was dark and just the right amount of sweetness. It was definitely an enjoyable dinner.

Wollensky & Smith doesn't just serve steaks, it delivers an exceptional **steakhouse experience**. From the impeccable service to the mouthwatering meat, every detail screams excellence. My personal highlight was the porterhouse, a behemoth of flavor that could easily feed three (despite the menu suggesting otherwise!). Cooked to juicy perfection, it was a carnivore's dream come true. But don't let the steak steal the show - save room for dessert! I can't recommend indulging in their sweet offerings enough. Wollensky & Smith is a must-visit for any steak enthusiast seeking an unforgettable meal.

Had the Cajun rib steak and normal fillet. Meats were of high standards but the Cajun was too over powering for me, where as the fillet felt a little under seasoned. Not the best steak house I’ve been but overall still worth it. Lighting was a little dim but it’s the atmosphere 👍 My favorite was the crab lumps! Large portion, sweet and fresh! You can skip the prawns though. As my wife and I were on our anniversary holiday, they gave a a free cheese cake which was amazing. Overall still a good 8.5/10, I would return again 👍

Wonderful Saturday Night dinner! We had the porterhouse for two, lobster cocktail, classic wedge, tuna tartar and three sides mushroom, sauteed spinach and mashed potatos. Its hard to get all most all dishes right. And they really hit the mark with the food! I was surprised how the food was not salty. As most restaurants do tend to. You can taste the fresh ingredients so we really enjoy it. And shout out to Ronny & his buddy who took care of us! Thank you for the lovely service and evening.

My favorite steakhouse in the city! Came here with family all the time. Steaks are perfect! Love their fried calamari as well. People in the restaurant are always lovely. Definitely recommend this place!

The $140 steak was served cold. Also the shrimp and the crab in the app was dry. It's definitely not worth the $700 bill for 3 people. Not much holiday charm for Christmas eve. No decorations for evening.

It felt like a New York steak house - go to the bar when you arrive to have a drink, they know your table so they put the drinks straight on your tab, straight answers about the menu and suggestions for the table, efficient (and friendly) service, and out the door in no time with a couple of extra pounds. The prime rib and t-bone were great tasty cuts!

I have read about this restaurant for years. This classic restaurant lived up to its billing. The steaks were perfect. The side’s spinach, mash potatoes , macaroni and cheese were excellent. The carrot cake was sinful. The service was amazing. Our waiter had been here for 40 years. Highly recommended

Had a great meal here with good service and a nice environment. The Wollensky salad was better than I expected with a tasty dressing that wasn't overpowering or too weak. And the giant chunks of bacon were unique and delicious. Then came the prime rib which was cooked right, super tender and just very good overall. It's definitely pricey and pretty much worth it.

Was unimpressed with the food, staff, and environment. Had reservations was told we could wait at the bar while they finished preparing our table. The hostess never came back for us and gave our table to a couple without reservations who came after us. Ended up seated in a cramped area with a wobbly table. We could hardly cut our food without risk of our glasses being toppled over. The food was decent, enjoyed the mac and cheese. Great crab! The medium rare steak was tough and over cooked. Extremely large portions, I'd recommend sharing! Also great dessert and drink options! Wouldn't be back personally though.

We joined as a large group of table for nine. Shared sides of mushroom and asparagus and hash browns. Taste fresh and original. Lamb entrée is tender, but the sauce is interestingly taste like toothpaste. lamb without the sauce is delicious enough. The staff was attentive to help debone with my fish. However, it really took a bit long waiting for main dishes after we finishing appetizer. If you are looking place for friends reunion or family gathering, this could take into account. And should try their steak in all kinds. Dim atmosphere inside, there’s also outside seats.

I’ve been to the location is Vegas. The Vegas menu is better and has their signature flying tomahawk. But this NY location is still high class and has all the essentials . The bone in rib eye was top notch . The mushrooms were to die for . I would have loved to have dessert but was so full lol . Service was great would happily come back .

One of the best steak houses in NYC!! Everything was incredibly delicious!! I especially enjoyed the Prime Rib and Carrot Cake. The service was also exceptional. The waiter advised us on the perfect portion for two - he recommended that we share one serving of pea soup and one of Prime Rib. They arrived on two separate plates and were the perfect size for both of us! I’ll definitely be back!

LOVED our experience! Plus, Jack and Brice were the best! Food was amazing! Steak, obviously, was excellent, and we also ordered a side of potatoes and calamari which were also delicious. For dessert, we loved the pecan pie sundae. Jack and Brice were so kind and checked in multiple times to make sure we were enjoying our experience. They made our experience at S&W even better! Will be going back.

I was expecting more from a steakhouse of this level of notoriety. I’ve been to a TON of steakhouses across the country and this was decent but not worth the price in my opinion. I’m happy to throw down for a great meal, but this was just okay. Dessert options were limited. Service was okay but I had noted I was there to celebrate someone’s birthday and zero personalization was given (I wasn’t really expecting anything beyond an acknowledgment but they didn’t do that). Many other steakhouses will do something special for special occasions. Food was good but not great. Our server seemed bored but I felt bad for him because another table was crazy rude to him for no reason.

Amazing dinner celebrating my friend's engagement without him. The atmosphere, the food and and staff really completed the experience. Thick steakhouse bacon was divine, especially paired with the house mustard. The magnificent holiday sangria stood out on its own, Shoutout to Sam for being a gem and always be attentive. And I can't forget Brad with his lovely singing voice. I've hope to see more of this place in the future.

One of many visits, including birthdays and valentines. On this visit I came for lunch and order the chicken burger. I myself do not eat meat much and wish they could offer 1-2 more non-meat options. However, everyone I come with raves about their burger that they order and how it’s flavorful. Their mash potatoes and Mac and cheese are really good as well. Oh ya …their chocolate cake is amazing.

We always love smith and wollensky. The filet mignon was great! Perfectly cooked. The sides and dessert are always the best part though. I love their hashbrowns since they go so well with the steak and the mac and cheese and brussel sprouts were both great as well. The strawberry shortcake was so delicious and sweet! Highly recommend

S&W is a nice place to celebrate a special occasion and have the experience that people are raving about. Personally, it was okay…main dish was really nothing to brag about. Steaks were undercooked from what was ordered & the fish was bland. Crab cake appetizer was delicious! Sides & the Coconut layer cake was best part of the meal. Cake was light & fluffy with the right amount of sweetness. Overall experience, I expected more from a highly rated, over priced restaurant.

Food was amazing! Their wine list is a book with at least 10 pages, the cold bouquet for two was on point. We had the porterhouse for two, another amazing dish with the loaded potato and the russet sprouts. Definitely a great restaurant. It was packed and loud on a Thursday night. Bathrooms were very clean. Definitely a place to visit for a SPECIAL occasion.

All the dishes we have ordered were excellent. the highest quality meats and perfect cooking points. The exceptional atmosphere as well as the attention of the waiters, very careful and attentive.

As soon as we arrived for our reservation, the staff was quick and very attentive. They were amazing at helping my husband pick out a wine to go with our meal. The steak was cooked as ordered, and everything was hot when it arrived at the table. The restaurant is dark, but that adds to the overall experience. If you have the chance to go here, I highly recommend it. If you order anything, get a steak, the loaded potatoes, and dessert. The chocolate mousse cake melted in my mouth. We will be back!

I can’t recommend this place enough!!! The service was out of this world. We visited from California to celebrate a friends bday and they gave us an experience of a life time. First we were greeted and sat at the Chef’s table. Bacci and Luis made sure we were taken care of. Chef Josh also came out to greet us. They were gracious enough to give us complementary dishes and gave us a tour of the restaurant! The kitchen staff were also nice enough to sing my friend happy birthday and gave us the best dessert! Thank you to the entire staff and Smith and Wollensky! Food was amazing, and the staff was even better!!!

Classic and famous Smith and Wollensky's Steak house, came here with a bunch of friends to celebrate my 50th BDAY. The Good: - The restaurant comp'ed a very generous portion of a strawberry BDAY cake (pictured) - we ordered a seafood tower to share and the lump crab meat was excellent - Ordered the prime rib (pictured), while other members of the group ordered filet, and bone in rib-eye The not so good: - my prime rib was a tab underdone, but was good otherwise; the flavor profile was a bit flat - 1 of our group felt his rib-eye was a bit flavor flat There is numerous stake eateries in NYC and S&M is definitely one of the top places, but not excellent. If you're a steak lover, this place will not disappoint, but its not one of the greats

I chose here to have my Chinese new year dinner. It’s a special occasion. I came here alone, but I don’t feel welcome here. I was arranged to a less perfect table which is next to a big table, people came back and forth, always bumping into my table, kind of annoying but understandable. BUT, when I sat down for a while, nobody said anything to me. No water no menu??? I have to ask someone to take my order. And after that, I feel like still no service, just randomly ask me how I am doing. And later another white couple sat next to me, they got served in a timely manner. I am so disappointed cause it’s not a deli. I expect decent service. Kind of feel like racism here. Even Buffett can’t save the poor service. However steak is decent. I am just saying and what do I know?
