This park has a great vibe! The maintenance seems better than other small parks. Someone cares about it and it shows. It never seems to crowded and the everyone seems very pleasant and civil. It's a great stop after diner. Lots of restaurants near by so an easy stroll to relax and enjoy this beautiful urban oasis. The area seem very quite which is perfect.

Winston Churchill Square is one entrance through to the somewhat-hidden Downing Street Playground. This tucked away children’s play area is a public space overseen by NYC Parks. It’s walled off and therefore often overlooked, but it’s a great place to bring the kids if you’re in the West Village, especially if nearby Minetta Playground is packed. There is an even more hidden entrance/exit to the play area on Carmine street where you can go through what looks like a regular house, but is actually a small arch facade. In there is the private (and similarly named) Downing Street Playgroup. But the park area is open to all.

I really dont know what it is about this park, it may be the layout, the location, right next to a childrens playground, im not sure...but theres something special about this park. I always feel compelled to stop and sit for a few minutes when walking by. Nice, well aged & manicured trees provide shade to cool off a bit, but are old & tall enough to alliw for a good breeze. I know its not just me, just a week ago i stopped and sat & noticed someone had left thier lunch garbage on a bench across the park, but before i could even stand, another gentleman walked in, saw the garbage and went about cleaning it up & throwing itvaway, before sitting down to eat his own lunch. Its a special little park.

Pleasant little park that provides a place to sit and contemplate where you’re going to have dinner in the Village. It’s quite safe, though you may have the occasional homeless person sharing the park space, and you will definitely have some little rat friends as well. (The rats rarely come out during the day, fear not, but I would not visit this park at twilight/night.

Visited on 10/5/21. Unfortunately I could not stay all too long, but this is a really nice quiet green spot to enjoy the sound of city life and a good book.

Nice park but homeless people smoke marijuana almost every time when we get there.

Winston Churchill Square is a must visit when you go to New York, NY. It has an unbeatable view of the city and when the weather is perfect it's almost euphoric. Great place to have a picnic, throw an event or just relax. Always packed here though and the one downside to this park is that parking is very hard to find at times. A lot of alcohol and drug use here as well so be weary of bringing children.
