Was here for Seatuck org's river herring and eel run monitoring project. I did not see fish or eels but was impressed by what I saw. Yes it could use a good trim. Lots of invasive vines and multiflora rose. Super Stewards! Its likely trash free precisely because there is NO parking. Get that. NO parking. You walk or bike here. End of story.

Brought back a lot of memories. I grew up not far away, my first time back in 40 years. "The Cove" was a stomping ground for me and my friends long before there were marked trails, signage etc. We used to get there by walking the LIRR train tracks and sliding down a steep embankment. Udall's is a nice place to take a walk. Quiet . Peaceful. Beautiful views of Little Neck Bay and beyond. A welcome respite from the rest of the urban cesspool that is NYC.

The city ParksDept is doing a good job. Wish they would pull out the invasive plants and vines. They keep pulling down the canopy. We have lost so many trees, and the ones that left are mostly diseased. The next 5 years will tell. See it before, just be careful in the ravine and around the pond on Sand hill road. Stay away from the diseased trees. Sad...

I love any place where I can find strange bits of nature, and animals like turtle and frogs, and trails are maintained. At the southern portion of the park, it is extremely narrow, and the trails cut through from one local street right to the next, so they're really short and quick. Some older trails appear to have been neglected/abandoned and are overgrown. Further north, where my photos were taken at the pond, it's better. Next time I'll venture even further north, to where the Cove begins at the Bay.

Udall's Cove is a gem for birders, especially if you want to watch osprey.

Looks like a jungle over there. Bad parking and badly maintained :( this is what your tax dollars go towards, Manhasset?? Yikes.

I grew up there ...when it was two boat yards ... Whitlos & Petersons… As kids we would hang out there on rainy days… In the summer we would crab, fish , boat… My parents were part of the movement to get it designated as a natural area the boat yards were dismantling… Recently I went back for a visit and it was beautiful peaceful well kept… it brought back a flood of wonderful memories… Highly recommend… ♥️

Very overgrown trails here. Looks like nobody has worked to maintain the trails in quite some time. I had to turn around and go back because I did not have long sleeves. Ticks are likely a problem. I’ll come back in late Autumn when it should be less dense.

Great walk! Sunny weather made nice pictures. Can’t wait to revisit in spring time. Beware of dog poop. My partner and I stepped on one on separate occasions.

A nice place for a stroll, and a treasure in the community.

So, first the good: yes, very nature-y. Good views of a very quiet tiny pond, we saw bullfrogs right out in the open. Bad news: many, many mosquitoes, extremely muddy, trail is a tad overgrown with several unmarked forks and definitely some poison ivy. So not a great nature trail, but a functional one, especially if you're interested in marshes.
