My boyfriend had cut his hand to the point you could see the bone. We got to the ER at 10:30pm & weren’t seen until 4:20am. Before I finish this story I want to point out the fact that we witnessed 3 people coming into the ER complaining about “chest pain” 2 were white & 1 Spanish. The two white people were seen right away & got EKG on the spot. The Spanish guy said he was been there for hours & nobody has helped him. He also told us this is not the first time he goes to the ER for this because he is concerned about what could be wrong with him but not once did they give him a COVID test or an actual solution to his problem, they gave him Advil & send him home. I’m sooo mad they talk about equality but treat our people this way. Anyways back to the story. We anxiously kept asking how much longer , as he was in so much pain. When the doctor asked when it had happen we told her when & said there’s nothing that they could do due to cut being open more than 6 hours. I laughed because we kept getting ignored the whole time to then be told we Had to wait & he’s cut could of been taken care of fully if we were seen at the correct timing.

This hospital has somewhat good service and nice doctors but they can’t keep track of their patients and it takes them awfully long to get their patients a room. You could be severely sick and in pain and it’ll still take a while for you to get a room and actual medical help. This is highly unacceptable!

Terrible hospital. Avoid at all costs. I had previously gone to this hospital (it’s the closest to me) with INTENSE pain and they did NOTHING for me. Turned out a few weeks later that my gallbladder had failed and they never spotted it because they don’t run accurate tests. Fast forward to yesterday, I am in intense pain once again. Head throbbing, body feeling like I got ran over and throwing up. They took my vitals and my heart rate was elevated and I had a high fever. These people had me wait FIVE HOURS with NO treatment. A simple EKG and then I was left out in the wild. I knew I had Covid but I’ve had Covid before and I’ve never experienced pain like I did yesterday. I complained and complained to them to at least get me some pain management or a better chair to sit in since my lumbar was in pain and in the end they did NOTHING. The doctor told me that I would be better off handling the symptoms at home. Great response. Upon receiving my discharge paper via email I saw that they did not acknowledge any of my symptoms and made it look like I was okay and decided to self discharge. This place is a JOKE. If you have the money go to other hospitals nearby because you will definitely not receive the care you deserve there.

Beware NYP emergency room. On November 8 I came to NYP because of dizziness. I was kept in the emergency room which is freezing. I was kept 50+ hours in the main emergency room, 8 of which was in the hall by an exit door. Then I was transferred to an emergency overflow room which was also freezing. There was inadequate services inadequate food, not even a warm cup of tea. Finally yesterday I was transferred to an actual room. Overnight I was told I tested positive for covid. This institution is not equipped to handle the oncoming winter serge of covid & flu. Since 2020 I survived covid. I worked meticulously to keep myself safe. I trusted NYP because it used to be a very reputable hospital. The doctors are still great, but do not, and I repeat do not go to their emergency room. If your doctor is affiliated with this hospital, ask them for direct admission. Avoid their emergency room at all cost.

This is one of the worst hospitals ever!!! Someone in my family was in the emergency room from Saturday night until Monday late afternoon and they didn’t even give him a room. How is that even acceptable!!! Don’t think about coming here if you have an emergency unless you want to subject yourself or a family member to neglect and not being taken care of properly.

I took my mother to the emergency room for having extreme abdominal pain, she waited 3 hours before she get call, when most people that come before her got call. She was suffering The registration front desk nurse was very rude to me when I ask him why my mother has not been call yet. When she finally get call they just put her in a stretcher and no one come to see her for another 2 hours. I took my mother to this hospital before in 2017 I had a wonderful experience however this time the entire staff including doctors was not terrible.I don’t know if the staff are on a stage of burnout or if they just normally nasty to people.

The ER room is a real joke. They have no system. They make you wait 5-6 hours before they even treat you. No one is taking charge. A true example of horrible medical attention. You’ll wait 8 hours to get a room if you need one. They discuss your medical condition in a waiting room next to everyone. It’s embarrassing. Never again to this place. Never. They should be shut for.

Horrible hospital, some of the older less funded hospitals really get a bad wrap compared to this place. It's supposed to be one of the best in the city but that's if you're in a particular tax bracket. The staff is just pure trash, unfeeling, uncaring...the list could go on. During the pandemic they were swept under an avalanche and rose to the occasion. This I will admit, but post pandemic we the patients are left to fend with burned out, inconsiderate service that needs an overhaul. I get it we're all suffering on both ends, but must patients suffer mistreatment and an absence of care coupled with life threatening illnesses when it isn't necessary?

Without a doubt, the BEST hospital in NYC! Even the food was good. I was there for three days, and everyone was very nice, accommodating, polite, efficient, caring and professional. Even after I was released, the doctors called me at home to check on me, or called me straight back if I left a message. Really first rate treatment!

Very disappointing hospital. My Mom has pancreatic cancer and came into the ER because the pain was getting too bad. She is international and does not have insurance, but was totally willing to pay out of pocket and even could deposit the treatment fees beforehand. They took more than 2 days to move her from ER to a room, and took 5 days to ANSWER NO THEY WON'T TREAT HER CANCER EVEN IF WE PAY BY OURSELVES. My Mom worked her whole life so that she had the money to pay for her cancer treatment. The tumor cells are dividing every single day and they choose to waste our time for them to grow even more, waste our money of hospitalization for days, and finally, do nothing about it. Just do not come here if you are not US citizens.

While with my family essentially saying goodbye to a loved one. What we witnessed was disturbing behavior. While in the main lobby, the security guards were playing rap music for all to hear. While upstairs in the ICU while my brother-in-law lay dying - 2 nurses were laughing and joking nonstop. It was so incredibly unprofessional. Also, on three consecutive days we noticed untouched garbage in the main lobby. Pathetic! Poorly managed Hospital!

Today I visited my sister, who had major surgery on 8/5/22 on the 7th floor (south), and the room was filthy. The room looks like it has not been mopped or swept for years, and the bathroom sink is badly stained with purple residue. My sister stated that when you ring the bell for help, the aide first takes a while to come to ask what you need, and then it takes another 30 minutes for the nurse to come to see you. My sister stated that one aide came to assist her in freshening up, the gloves fell off, and the aide picked up the gloves, put them on, and proceeded to help my sister with the dirty gloves. Her roommate had a similar but worse experience. The roommate stated she had written many complaints, but no upper management had addressed her complaints. My sister is a healthcare executive and takes pride in providing top-quality care to her clients. Seeing her being treated like this was disturbing. It was disturbing to see such a reputable hospital have significant issues with cleanliness and poor customer service.

Have been passed around from test to test for 3 months trying to get clearance for surgery without any treatment for my condition. Seems like all they want to do is test and not treat problems. Impossible to contact doctors offices by phone. Ordered tests without telling me. Asked for referral to hand surgeon and they sent me to shoulder specialist. Asked for referral to ear doctor and they sent me to throat doctor. Did multiple tests on heart and all good but they are ordering more tests. Think they are more interested in generating revenue than healthcare

I recently had surgery after a compound fracture at the wrist @ NY Presbyterian hospital. The night after my surgury i was in agony, 10/10 pain. Hurt just as bad as when I broke it (perhaps the cast was too tight with the swelling). The Nurses showed zero fuks however. I was supposed to receive meds at 10 p.m. 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. and each time the nurse was late sometimes up to over an hour. THEY JABBED MY GOOD ARM SO MANY TIMES I HAVE SCARS. I had problems falling asleep because of the pain and a six-hour time difference from my home (was visiting family) and cannabis withdrwal insomnia. I asked the nurse if I can get something to help me sleep and she told me that the doctor instructed to turn off my TV and give me an eye mask. I'm a 38 year old Navy veteran who doesn't take kindly to being disrespected and lied to. Hospitals also need to stop treating patients like garbage. Treating patients with kindness and respect should be mandatory. It is healthcare. Lower their stress, releave their pain, provide some comfort. These are all things that will help the healing process and help a patient get better. Update after 1 month; On a positive note is that the surgeon did a very good job. I have good use of my hand and can comfortably use it with minimal pain The surgeon in charge was a professional. The nurses however need to re-evaluate their career choices.

My mother was hospitalized here for 90 days after a unsuccessful head tumor removal surgery that caused a BRAIN STEM STROKE. The surgeon said mother might not be able to do anything on her own anymore, and that if we want to take a difficult decision about her life, they can go ahead and do make it happen. The good thing about this hospital is the nurses which really care about you and your loved one. However they have a big amount of trainees so keep a good eye on your loved on, they do endless unnecessary physical exams - ESPECIALLY IN ICU - THEY TRAIN ON SUCTIONING WENT CONNECTED TO VENT, AND SHOUT AT YOUR LOVED ONE NON STOP for awareness exams. Basically training future doctors on your loved one. Security is very tight, non forgiving to anyone. I have seen people cry over their dying loved one. They needed to wait in line like anyone else. Overall, if I get run over right outside this hospital I would go to another one. They are extremely antisemitic, celebrate all religions holidays but not Jewish one. NOT COMING BACK.

I was pregnant, I went to emergency with vaginal bleeding and several pain, I waited around 1 hour in registration just to be called and the pain was going worst every minute, I decided to speak with the lady in charge and I asked her for help, I was crying not able to stay up cause the pain was horrible and the only thing she said was there were more people first than me and that I was supposed to wait. So I moved to another hospital and sadly they told me the pain and bleeding was because I was having a miscarriage. This is so sad, the way they treated me while I was having a miscarriage is disgusting, I hope they can improve their adult emergency.

Better go elsewhere Had an appointment scheduled for 11 am and was asked to come one hour earlier just to leave this place after 5 pm. Patient services staff are not helpful at all and just say there is nothing that can be done. Didn’t even let me write an official complaint in their book. Terrible service. Sitting space is limited and they don’t let your family members stay with you.

Worst hospital ever. My mother went there for a simple treatment but it’s took a whole day. She was discharged early the next morning and they had the audacity to leave a catheter when it was only inserted for a pee sample. Now I have to put her back in a ambulance to go back to the hospital to get it removed. DO NOT GO HERE AND PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FAMILY. I can only imagine what else happen while I was gone

This place is very unprofessional. The way the workers talk over the patients is disgusting. The is no real bed side manner at all. The worker are rude. The only bright spot was the security guard Mr. S. Fuller. He was respectful and personable. The other security guard was rude and nasty, with a chip on his shoulder. I understand that it is still a pandemic but most hospitals would allow at least one person to sit with you in the back. They kept telling my bf and I that there were visitors but I which other ppl go in with visitors. The doctors don't listen to the patients. They are just treating symptoms. I don't recommend going to this ER. It's sad but this use to be one of the best hospitals in NYC.

My first bad experience, I have been admitted here several times and my stay had always been good, until today that I already have 6 days admitted with my son here we had a double room where the first nights I was touched by very decent and respectful people, the last two nights I have been touched by a couple with their son who leave the light on until late at night, they spend the day in phone calls and with a very inadequate tone of voice, the husband stays to sleep and has an awful snoring because those that are very difficult For me and my baby to have rest time! I talked to the manager who didn't do anything, I don't talk to people or take the delicacy to even see if she could move us to another room I don't care if it was with another person maybe they weren't as indecent as these which the sick people have told her that please if they can keep their composure and they don't even change! The truth is that I would have liked to have another person to help me and be more condescending with the situation, because I have seen empty rooms since last night even double, but according to the person I spoke they were not available! I'm still here and I can't take a break! As a hospital you need to put some rules like do not let man stay at least in double bedrooms, do not permit loudly noise in the room and for the residents on the rooms to keep respect to others and peaceful space appropriate for recovering!

I give these 5 stars for two of the best nurses, they work in pediatrics ICU in the central area of the hospital. My 20 year old son had a successful surgery to remove the tumor by his brain. Anthony Maraia and Vincent Benavidas are the best, they are very compassionate, caring, and understanding. Always with a smile I can tell even with their masks on. They don't tire and have attitudes like most nurses and believe me I have had many many experiences through my son's war with cancer. I would love for their parents especially their moms to know what a great job they did and I also give credit to themselves. It is hard enough as a parent to see their child suffer and needing a freindly and warm person to help you and your child to get through the hospital visit.i even told Anthony I adopted him while we were there lol. I love you guys you did more than you can imagine, keep it up and you will achieve even more success in your lives!! And again to their parents you guys did great with your kids and be very very proud of them which I believe you are again love you guys❤❤❤❤❤❤

Its not for my experience but my friend staying in the hospital pretty long. What i don’t understand is why they feed all patients with spicy food? Thats not healthy. They need to heal better and faster with healthy food. Kept missing food like cereal with no milk, Egg soggy with no bread/toast and sometime no drink. They need to fire cooker who give spicey food hire a better cooker/ food coordinator!!!!

I have had an eventful visit at this hospital. My father who is 79 years old was hospitalized due to COPD with emphysema. This hospital is a teaching/ training hospital and I had the pleasure of meeting one of their new respiratory therapist. This young man took amazing care of my father to his best ability and was very diligent with the way he communicated with me and my siblings. I used to work for a hospital and I can now see why New York Presbyterian Columbia University is rated the best of the best. They hire the best people/ staff to be apart of the team. Thank you Mr Parrish In the respiratory department you are a great addition to their team!

This hospital is amazing. Our oncologist (Dawn Hershman) is competent and efficient, the breast surgeon (Lisa Wiechmann) is on top of the game, making sure everything is on track and all the imaging & treatments are scheduled as soon as possible. She was also amazing during the consultations, really explaining all the options and making us feel there's hope. The imaging staff is really impressive too, taking care of whatever needs and making sure patients are comfortable. Even the little things, like bringing juice & cookies after the PET scan (which uses radioactive glucose so it messes with blood sugar levels), or telling my wife how much time is left in the MRI, after every set of images - makes a big difference when you're stuck in an uncomfortable machine. Just all around excellent people, from the doctors to the front desk staff. Always helpful and with a sense of humor. I never would have thought that having CANCER treatments could be a pleasant experience, but the Columbia-Presbyterian people are making sure it is.

Had to take my mother and I was there literally all day.. it was hell. Nobody tells you anything. The communication is just TERRIBLE. The only person that was actually nice and helpful was Sam, the CT tech.. he listened to my concerns and addressed them in a speedy manner. Very good energy! Also got my mother in and out of CT. He made a nightmare much more bearable

My sister had surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Her surgeon called me at 11:14 to report that she was out of surgery, and that the recovery room staff would be in touch when we could see her. I did not hear from the recovery room, so I called them. The desk clerk rudely told me that the nurse would call. It is now 2:50 - almost 4 hours since my sister left the OR, and I still have not heard a thing from the recovery room nurse. It is inexcusable to treat family members in this way. In addition - they have a one way texting app for communicating with family members - useless, apparently, because they don't use it. I understand nurses can be extremely busy, but it only takes seconds to communicate to worried, waiting loved ones.

This hospital's emergency room is the worst emergency room in the entire world! All of the major hospital emergency rooms in NYC is a literal hell hole. The nurses are rude, ghetto, and lazy. The doctors don't listen to the patients and are basically drug dealers. The only decent hospital is St. Lawrence, and that's in Westchester County. These doctors, nurses, and other related workers need to be held accountable for their abuse and their bad behavior.

I've been in that ER many times, emergency for adults on Broadway. Before COVID it was one of the bedt and the service was faster. Doctors took your symptoms seriously and took good care of you, but now, they don't even have bed, they put in a hallway with a lot of chairs. Sitting regarding your pain or conditions. Some doctors even told me I wasn't sick, that it was on my mind, to go to a psychiatrist.

Am waiting almost 3 hours to be seen. People in the waiting rooms are yelling and mad at the poor and disgusting customer service. The bathroom was dirty and it smelled like someone was doing drugs in there. The receptionist was rude. They said they were busy but I saw people gossiping and doing everything else but working. I was in severe pain I let them know that.. this hospital will watch you die before they do something

I was taken to the ER and just from standing up to stretch my legs from off of my cot, a HUGE security guard slammed me back down onto my cot face first pulling my arms behind me so forcefully that he tore my right rotator cuff!.. And I am now experiencing problems with my left shoulder as well… They put me out and broke all of my toes before I was taken to Gracie Square Hospital! I now am having to schedule surgery on both feet so that I can walk normally! I should have sued…. This was 2019! November 13th!

I was given the hardest time at NYP er for 14 hours!! I came in with extreme chest and shoulder pain, trying to get some answers. From the very beginning the doctor was very dismissive, only wanting to give me medication without running any test. I did come here to get a second opinion after I had visited Montifiore hospital who was also very negligent. Dr. Daniel Bernard suggested I just visit my primary doctor, but the pain I was experiencing was getting worse by the day and no medication at home was relieving me of the stabbing pain in my shoulder. I practically had to beg him several times for a CT scan, which to that his response was “If the scan comes out negative, then what? What are you going to do?” I was baffled. Really think about that response for a second, coming from a doctor! I was sat in a chair in the hall way from 9am to 1130pm with no food. They made me wait 9 HOURS to give me another dose of medication, even after asking for it several times. I sat there helpless for 9 hours in the worst pain of my life. I was in tears. I felt like I was invisible when I really needed help. Turns out I had a BLOODCLOT IN MY LUNG!!! If I wouldn’t have fought for that CT scan who knows what would of happened to me. This hospital is extremely negligent and dangerous, which could have cost me my life! I will never come back to this ER nor do I recommended anyone else to do so.

Over a 6 months wait to see a doctor at The Metabolic and Weight Control Center. They do not even answer the phone. You have to leave a message. Yet this is a place the Employee Assistance Program continues to highly recommend to it's University employees. It's unbelievable.

Sadly, the emergency room is all about driving revenue and not treating actual medical conditions. A year ago I went to the ER for a diabetic foot ulcer. Immediately the vascular surgeon advised a toe amputation. I refused but the VS team continued to harass me all day and night fear mongering to get me to consent. I refused and was discharged by the attending VS. Because I would not consent they would not address my ulcer and refused debridement. I was discharged and was never treated. I handled my own wound care and was healed in a month. This month I returned with open toe fracture. Again, the same attending VS advised amputation.Again, I refused. Again, the VS began the high pressure fear mongering to get me to consent. I mrefused. Again, I was not treated. My wound was never cleaned. They refused fracture reduction and buddy taping. Nothing was done. I was there for 3 days. If I do not consent to amputation I do not get treated and no other doctor will see me. I discharged against medical advise. Their medical strong arm upselling tactics are almost criminal. Their Patients Bill of Rights is a joke! The nurses were awesome tho!!!!

This is the worst ER ever!!! I have lung and heart issues and I’m in here for low oxygen and difficulty breathing and there was no sense of urgency. I’ve been asking for help to the bathroom for over an hour. This is a disgrace! They did my EKG wrong and had to do it again, took blood hours ago and no response. They won’t let my care taker in here to give me my stuff. Everyone in here is rude and nasty and my life could be on the line. Shame on you!

Went to their emergency room during the pandemic and it was a joke. They had adults in the pediatric emergency area, and their doctor didn't take my pain seriously, no testing was done aside from palpitation of the area. No blood tests, or imaging just urine analysis. Lately, they've also made their billing services fully remote, but no one picks up the phone. I recieved a letter stating that my insurance didn't pay for something in February and to call if I had any questions about the bill but it's been 2 weeks without any response. Online it shows no outstanding bills so it's really confusing.

Worst service ever. Cases usually are prioritize by situation , however I observed people that came way after my child attended and not once did a nurse nor a doc pass. I had to go to a nurse and asked how long had it been and she said 2ges ago. Mind you my child had chest pain

The greatest city in the world , with the worst hospitals there is. Why is it as New Yorkers we pay so much taxes and receive nothing for it? Do not get me wrong , the nurses are phenomenal, and I applaud them for working in such a hectic atmosphere. However, the organization, the ethics , the Professionalism , and finally the wait is beyond ridiculous. This is something the new mayor of New York City needs To tackle-Incompetent hospitals in the capital of the world. Please do not come here for an emergency 🚨 Take yourself to another hospital. This is beyond insane and sad that New York City has come so low when it comes to public health.

I had 5 very successful surgeries in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and I am grateful to God for blessing all of the doctors who were in that Operating Room with me...Let us all remember A doctor is not God. If someone dies in a hospital that person was already very sick and it was beyond the doctors control to save them.. In 1997 ,1998, 2000 and 2002 my daughter had successful surgeries on her heart. Today she is healthy at age 24. I am glad I have chose this hospital for me and my children's medical needs. Yes I have encountered rude staff members at this hospital and I immediately escalated the situation to the correct person(s) it was handled correctly and accordingly.

Took my wife to the emergency room, her primary care doctor diagnosed her with tuberculosis. They put us in the isolation room, which was found dirty bathroom and sanitize clogged toilet bowl. we bought the issue at 9 PM. It’s now. next day 317 in the morning still no one has come to unclog a simple toilet bowl. let alone it took literally three hours before dock to come talk with us. Hand sanitizer hand soap don’t work can’t dispense the lotion or soap

I suffer from asthma but these people clearly don’t think asthma is serious. I’ve been having shortness of breath that has gotten progressively worse and came in and they had me wait hours to get medication. I can barely breathe but that’s not an issue for them. If you suffer from asthma go to a hospital who takes it seriously. I use to go to Harlem hospital on 135 and they take you in and put you on the machine immediately. No wait. They even do a breathing test.

My mother has been going to this hospital for over a decade. She had a primary care doctor but had to change doctors because this male - Hispanic doctor started to treat her with disdain - when she complained about it he yelled at her insulting her and being very offensive. He has a very high position at this hospital. My mother is an elderly person that has been trying for the longest to get a primary care physician and every time she goes to this hospital and sees a doctor (all female resident doctors) are mean, rude, really nasty to someone that’s looking for a caring healthcare physician. ALL the female doctors that she had seen are really nasty, ill mannered to say the least

The quality has significantly gone down in the last couple years, waiting times are to be expected but the service overall is horrendous. ER is not worth the visit your better of going to another hospital even if you live close by

I was there 22 hrs and had 5 doctors examine and talk to me. I was constantly monitored and cared for. The staff was understanding and human. Even when patients were difficult they maintained their professionalism. One of the best employees was from patient services Jennifer. She professionally put out a few fires with compassion and empathy. I highly recommend this place when your body needs help.

Worst service ! A group of guards that worked at night shift stopped me from staying with my fiancé while we were waiting for an X ray for over 4 hours. They said because I left the hospital and when I came back the shift had changed and so the rules. Then I asked the see the rules But I was told that there wasn’t any documents showing the policies and that I would receive an email stating everything that was said to me. Well. I don’t think I will Receive anything. If I do I will say. Lastly I was told by one the guards I was transpassing ( what? I was there asking to someone give me a reasonable explanation to why I could not stay there) and because of that I would be forced to get out. Simply because they did not have any argument to explain their behavior towards me they just said I was wrong because that was the policy. What a great professionals 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

Overall this is a good hospital with "some" excellent doctors and physical therapist. Dr. Jeffery Bruce in particular is an experienced neurosurgeon who I am eternally grateful for. The nurses and care teams are kind, attentive and do their very best to provide compassionate follow up service. Their is need for improvement regarding the after surgery three month check ups because closer observation and evaluation on a one to one basis could be more accurate regarding the continued prescribing of medications and regarding allowing patients to have or obtain easier access to their follow up MRI results. I was unable to view my 3 month after surgery MRI results and instead my results were sent to me on a disc which won't play on any device that I own. I repeatedly requested to view my results thru my health portal but was told that that was not allowed despite it being allowed for my pre op MRI and my immediate post op MRI. Dr.Haggiagi's office would not send it thru my health portal and to this day I have not been able to see it. I think her office should have invited me in just to allow me to see the results of my own healing. I still feel very disappointed about that. I called many times but was always refused. That policy needs to be changed. However, I think this is a top rated hospital and would recommend it to anyone seeking medical care.

The neurological and medical oncology medical team at this hospital is in my opinion, the best in the nation! My brother was experiencing loss of mobility on one side of his body. After several scans, the hospital he initially went to in Florida couldn't find the cause. A family friend recommended that he go to New York Presbyterian for a second opinion. The same day he arrived at NYP he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and two days later, he was operated on. We felt very confident in the competence of the surgical team led by Dr. Youngerman. My brother's tumor was successfully removed. While at the hospital he did additional scans and was found to have stage 4 lung cancer. He went back to Florida for cancer treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. After an aggressive radiation and chemo approach which left my brother extremely ill with burns to his esophagus, the Doctors there had to stop because it was getting worse. Once again, my brother came back to NYP and under the care of Medical Oncologist, Dr. Herzberg, my brother has improved significantly, and his stage has reduced to a stage 1 only within four months! I am beyond grateful for the level of expertise, professionalism and compassion the staff has. I highly recommend this hospital for any cancer issues you or your loved one may have.

The service, staff, even the food in the psych ward was nice. What wasn't nice was missing Respite housing the next day because the doctor took ALL DAY to get to me despite me having to check-in to Respite in the morning. It is inconceivable to me that the doc let go a guy who hadn't slept for 3 days after him sleeping for barely 6 hours, but took so long with me that I missed my check-in by 5 HOURS! I almost ended up homeless that night, the only thing they'd tell me at the hospital's reception was to go back to the same, unreliable care. Absolutely unbelievable, doctor, you're lucky that I'm not rich.

Dr John Chabot, Pancreatic Cancer, Superb Experience My journey started in Canada Sept 2022.  GP urged me to go to emerg. I had the 3 markers for Pancreatic cancer. After MANY procedures, progressively deteriorating, got a 2nd opinion from Sunnybrook Feb 13, 2023. After review including Jan 9, 2023 procedure they advised could only extend my life with chemo but not eliminate cancer. Feb 9, 2023 another procedure. Advised it was stage 3 to 4 pancreatic cancer. Surgeon urged chemo immediately. July 2023 still fighting to survive. Researched USA.  After several interviews with hospitals met Dr John Chabot in Columbia North Presbyterian. An athletic looking man.  Attentive, cross legged and leaning in, really listening to me. Nothing but kindness. Even a humbleness. After reviewing he felt cancer could be removed with a Whipple and Nano knife. I trusted him. His team were just like him. Even twice replying to an e mail question while on holiday. The surgery took 9 hours and 18 min. Dr Chabot, sparkle in his eye, humble to the core, saved my life. His support team lovely. CNP was a kind and friendly hospital to me from the 5am door man up. Picture included, doorman at 5 am for surgery arrival.

Referred here by my pulmonologist in Nov 2022 for lung transplant. The first bad sign was that - on the same day- the surgeon told me it would be a single lung. Onto the transplant pulmonolgist 1 hr later who tells me double lung. Eval took 3 months and I was told I'm not ready to be listed in Feb 2023. I told the psychiatrist. Dr. Federonko, that THC worked better for my anxiety than meds. He said they would do random testing. Once I was told i was not ready I had some THC. My next followup visit they made be test for it...but I'm not listed. I honestly thought that rule was for when you are on the list! I felt like I was on trial. Dr. Federonko would not call me or make an appointment yet he was on my "team". Then the coordinator Julia Sze gets her facts messed up and calls me a liar. There are numerous other times when she didn't "dot her i's and cross her t's." Scary!!! This is a lung transplant for God's sake. Went for another follow up in Jan 2024. I knew they would test for nicotine as it was in my portal They snuck in a THC test. It was positive . I would have expected Dr. Federonko to speak to me 12- months ago about this anxiety that makes my O2 go below a safe number. Crickets. So the pulmonologist tells me another 12-18 months to be considered ready for transplant. That made me and my husband decide to look into other transplant centers. I write a complete explanation of what's been happening in my life at the time, and I want to take a break. Julia Sze wrote back six sentences that just acknowledged my decision. THEN they get my THC results and send ME a letter stating I am out of the program due to "unprescribed medication" and I need to continue to monitor my " interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension". THATS NOT WHAT I HAVE! They pulled a " you can't quit because we're firing you" letter which was clearly a copy/paste and never checked it before sending. Scary! Have to do 6- months of drug testing if I want back in. And that's it. Thanks for adding to my anxiety this past year, especially Dr. Federonko and Julia Sze. I'm on a hamster wheel with them. Looking elsewhere obviously.

I entered the Heart Hospital division due to Premature Ventricular Contraction. The treatment involved 21st century computer technology to map the heart and locate the heart cells sending out electrical pulses. Once mapped the electrophysiologist used a different catheter to scar these cells. The mapping took three hours and the scaring and observation of results one hour. There were seven doctors and nurses in the operating room and numerous nurses and aides in the ward where I spent the night. These workers were without exception professional, friendly and upbeat in the way they treated me. The operation was a complete success and I was able to leave the hospital by 8 am the following morning.

My niece was held under the care of nurse Valerie in the pediatric center ER. She was experiencing something extremely traumatizing and didn’t understand what was happening to her body. She called us and asked us to come to the hospital . While she was on the phone I asked to speak to who was in charge to find out the address as well as what was going on . I identified myself and nurse Valerie literally laughed at me asking questions about her care . She also belittled my niece the entire time she was there making fun of her and treating her like a joke . They completely took advantage of the fact that she was a little girl in the hospital by herself experiencing something traumatic and I am in complete shock that she still has a job . I will be taking this further ! My niece was transported with no recollection of what happened . We begged them to wait until we got there before they did anything to her and of course they didn’t . PLEASE keep an eye on your loved ones when they are within this facility because this is how people get lost within the system !!!!

I don’t even know where to start.... First let me say that the majority of the nurses and staff are very polite and professional. Then we have that nurse and physician Assistant that makes you want to curl up and die... Waited three days in the ER waiting for a bed upstairs. Then another three days for a MRI.. so many things happened in between that I would need a lawyer for back up.. well this is the IV I had for 5 days in which I had to tell the nurse it looked infected... Why did I choose to come to this hospital?? Because it did have a great reputation and a great all around staff....Next time NYU

They took really good care of me in December 2 different times, while I was going through severe hyperemesis and it got so bad that I couldn’t even walk anymore. Even during the nurse walkout, I was still taken care of. And I’m sorry you guys are going through it (speaking as a student nurse). Thank you for helping me when I thought I was going to lose my life 😩 Shoutout to the AA doctor who was on top of everything and took care of me as well! I forgot his name but when I find the discharge papers I’ll update the review.

I have called 3 times to arrange a consult with dr at the hernia center. The instructions are to leave detailed message and they will get back to you. It is now 2 weeks and nobody has called!!! I also left info on their website as directed. Again no call. THIS IS RIDICULOUSLY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

Please choose a different Presbyterian Hospital!!!!!!!!! If you can go anywhere else you should. They tried to take advantage of a sick patient and STEAL her jewelry. My 38 year-old sister came in to emergency room with issues involving her gut. Her jewelry was TAKEN by a NURSE and put into a bag DURING A SCAN. She stayed here for 7 days and upon discharge the staff (plural) tried to tell her she had no jewelry. Upon discharge she was told she didn’t come in with jewelry. After complaining she was only given back her ring. When me and my mother came to pick her up we had to THREATEN to call the POLICE to file a report and only when we said we will call the police all of her jewelry was returned by the security guard. No one knows why the security guard had her jewelry. They tried to keep 4 of her gold necklaces, 2 diamond bracelets. It’s disgusting these people TOOK ADVANTAGE of a sick patient. We are suppose to feel safe in hospitals, but apparently there are THIEVES that work here this includes the security.

I had eye surgery in NYP on 2/8 & the entire staff was just wonderful!! Each & every one!! Debbie especially was the best. All of them kind, caring & explained everything. My experience was top of the line, could not have been better & also my great Dr. (Marr). My Aunt took a wrong turn as she was trying to pick me up (when I was discharged) & got lost on one the streets. A very kind security guard (BERTRAM) helped 2 women in distress. What a wonderful person you have in your employ NYP!! We hope you appreciate him going over & above with our "emergency" this is a WORLD CLASS HOSPITAL all the way!! We got home safely thanks to him.

Recently we found out a family member was diganosed with cancer. The news has devastated our family. I can’t even put words to describe the feeling of sadness. Today we had an appointment with Dr. Julia wattcheril ( Liver Doctor) for a plan on treatment for that close family member. I left two hours prior to make this important appointment in the busy city. The traffic, construction and accidents made it horrible to make it exactly on time. When we finally arrive a few minutes late, we were told the doctor is very strict on time and will not see us and to reschedule. I felt no compassionate was given especially with the life long illness this family member has and the struggle they will endorse. I was given a card and told to call back for another date. At that point I felt that hospital and doctor was not for us and went to a well known hospital in New Jersey. Thanks again for not being compassionate for my family member long fight they have ahead with Cancer.
