Eh in hindsight I probably should have looked for a less commercialized Mexican restaurant… but I did my best with limited options… It’s a very glitzy restaurant… and the atmosphere is wonderfully enticing… however the food is not. The staff is polite and attentive. However the prices for drinks are definitely New York City prices so be prepared for that (aka $15-$20 a pop my dear).. I probably wouldn’t have cared if the food was more appetizing. It looked tasty. It was not. I love me some Mexican food. But I really love me some steak. Unfortunately the carne asada was disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend the food. But in a clutch I would recommend the drinks because that blood orange margarita was worth $15 someone else paid for me.

Excellent food, great service!…shrimp nachos were to die for!.. amazing table side guacamole as well as the mains that we ordered. Big portion of salmon in a delicious guacamole sauce!.. and excellent mushrooms enchiladas. We had churros, flan and tres leches cake for dessert, of which flan came out on top!…..Portions are very good and although it was busy, but even then it was not noisy!.. loved it for a night out with my friends ❤️

My hubby booked reservation on open table. When we arrived we were seated immediately. The hostess was nice and led us to our table. The restaurants well lit and colorful. Salsa and chips were served on the house. These were yummy, as usual we tend to fill ourselves up…it never fails. The chips were nice and crisp and salsa very tasty, not spicy, very mild. We ordered the Parrillada for 2, came with red chile chicken, grilled chorizo, 10 oz Certified Angus Beef® NY strip steak, warm corn tortillas, Mexican rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, salsa. The meat we ordered medium and it was perfect…I felt it needed a little more salt, but my hubby was ok with it. The chicken was very tasty and well cooked. The chorizo was yummy, a little spicy. It was definitely enough food for the both of us. We both had margaritas, I had the spicy cucumber and my hubby had the original. I thought it was very strong, which some people may like…I do like to have tasty and savory well made drinks. My hubby liked his margarita. Overall the service was good, the food was also ok and the atmosphere enjoyable. We enjoyed our time there.

The drinks were truly refreshing and the guacamole very interesting and tasty. The portions very ginormous in my opinion. The food was really good too. Ambience was nice and quiet almost, despite being quite crowded.

Ahhh Rosa some things have not changed - The food and service are still great! My first visit back since Covid and was not disappointed. The pomegranate margarita was still perfectly made and although the menu change the dishes were good as usual. We went with the restaurant week menu which we could have shared as the portions were quite large!!! This place has always been a staple for me!

Great place! We reserved a table for 4 for 9 PM on Friday evening at 7:30 PM. This place is very big and spacious and busy. You still get your orders on time and the servers are nice. We ordered a frozen Guava Margarita Pitcher. It tasted great and has good alcohol content in it. We also got the chips and guac, the guac is made freshly over there and tastes great. The double size is good for 4 people. Got the shrimp tacos, they were great. They have some red sauce on it which makes it spicy in between. The tequila shots cost around 15 at the bar counter, it's a bit expensive than usual. A great find overall!

Great news is that they are open late and have very delicious food. The enchiladas and the nachos were both delicious and I recommend that you try both. Atmosphere is very good, comfortable booth with dim lighting. The waiter was very friendly and fast. We did get chips and salsa when we first sat down.

Good food, fun atmosphere, friendly service. My friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday, and the host graciously let us move over to a booth once one opened up even after we were seated. We ordered a pomegranate margarita, regular margarita, Italian Coke, and a sparkling water. Margaritas were strong and not too sweet, just the way I like it. We ordered the guacamole for an appetizer, which never disappoints. For food, we ordered the enchiladas, fish tacos, and -I know this is going to sound like sacrilege- the cheeseburger with fries. Everything was delicious. This place has been one of our go-to restaurants for brunch, lunch and dinner for almost a decade. Even though it seems to have changed in quality and style under new management, we still enjoyed ourselves. Pro-tip: the tacos do not come with a side, so I would recommend ordering either rice or some veggies to complement any taco dishes. All in all, I recommend coming to this casual and fun Mexican restaurant for celebratory events or a casual meal with friends. Enjoy!

I had planned to go somewhere but the website said opens at 2,they do not serve food until 4,very misleading Lillies. I saw the sign for Rosa, decided to try it. Was in the mood for a hamburger the price was reasonable WOW so happy I did. Greeted warmly, seated in a quiet spot. Terrific server, brought out sala, chips, immediately. That hamburger I was in the mood for was delicious. Great dressing, just the right amount of heat. The Cucumber mint mocktail was very excellent. I will absolutely come back here.

Was a bit busy during lunch. Chips and salsa is complimentary. I had the chopped cheese alambre taco, tortilla soup and spicy chicken taco. Food was delicious. Had a pomegranite margarita which was tasty and did the job. Service was a bit slow even though we were at the bar. All in all a nice vibe.

I am a Mexican food snob from the Southwest. This place was great. The tortillas were really good though not quite sure they aren't buying chips instead of making their own. The guac was perfect and variety of margaritas nice .. spicy means SPICY. Brisket was delicious and tender. They advertise a cauliflower tortilla that they didn't have which was really really disappointing. There are so many keto options for tortillas I was sad they were out.

Hard to find 5/5 Mexican food in the city but this place came close. I’ll def re-visit and try other items! Ceviche tasting (3) - All tasted fresh. We loved the tuna one cause of the mango habanero sauce! If you want a single type of ceviche, pick this Tacos Duck carnitas - ridiculously delicious Baja style - I dislike fried stuff therefore biased. It was dry, the sauce was noticed later and it helped. I’d try shrimp tempura over this for something fried Enchiladas tasting (3) Beef and duck were delicious. Chicken was chicken (predicable) and salsa verde wasn’t as good. Service was great; we got chips and guac on the house and it was delicious! Guac wasn’t spicy enough for us (we have high tolerance)

Me and my friend stumbled upon this The front host team was very welcoming and immediately seated us, even though we did not have reservations. Once seated, our orders were taken, and a busser (as I imagine) came to make guacamole. There was an incident where a lime went directly into his eye, but he handled it professionally, stepping aside to collect himself. I asked him questions about certain Mexican platters, and he was more than happy to answer. Unfortunately, I did not catch his name, but he was the best part of the service I received and is a sweet guy. We ordered the platter for two, which was a good deal and could feed more than two people. The chicken was juicy, and so was the steak, which was incredible. The only thing that detracted from giving it 5 stars was our waiter's attentiveness. He barely checked on us, and we had to flag down another waiter. I totally understand that he may have been busy with larger tables; this is where managers should improve by assigning tables accordingly so that waiters can provide adequate service. Overall, I would rate it 8/10 and will be dining there again.

I was on holiday from the UK and I asked if we could eat Mexican food one day while I was there. We visited Rosa Mexicano and I can honestly say it was the most wonderful experience. The service and quality of food was exemplary. It is a bit of a long way to come back, but I most definitely will, the next time I am visiting. I also adored the frozen margaritas. Thank you for such a memorable time.

Acceptable restaurant. Nothing special. We had nice food, reasonable price service was met. There was nothing that stood out or anything. It kind of felt almost like a chain. Very large restaurant without any personalisation. Very loud as well and difficult to have a conversation with the table of six

Food was good. The service isn't great but some of the staff are alot better than others. The cocktails are yummy! It can get rowdy and some over-served patrons can make a mess so steer clear if you can't be around that scene. The food is good but portions are on the smaller side. They weren't able to customize the spice level of the guacamole - it was either hot or not; no hot sauce or hot salsa was available during my visit.

Overall rating: 4.6 Listen, I can understand why this has a low rating. But I saw NPH here on Cinco De Mayo and obsessed. I was surprised, but the chips were really good. I went here years and years ago and I’m okay to admit it, but they’ve gotten better! I had the birria tacos which were okay. Nothing to rave about. Is this authentic food? Probably not. Is it good food? Um depends who you ask.. But this is definitely an after-work hang with your coworkers, large birthday party with a lot of friends that aren’t really your friends, group party vibe.

Nice Mexican restaurant. The table side guacamole was excellent! The rest of the food was okay. The cocktails were good but a bit too sweet to our taste. Overall we liked it.

Rosa's used to be much better - and I mean years ago. We used to go to the one on Second Ave for special events. Alas, much has changed. It feels very "chain like" now rather than the authentic feel of before. Menu items are now main stream, and have retained only a bit of the prior authentic Mexican taste. This review is for the Union Square location. Service was excellent, although the bar orders took way way too long to arrive. It was not busy. Food was quick and the waiter solicitous. The table salsa was really good and so was the tableside guacamole with bacon. Safety tip, medium spicy at Rosa's is the hot from other places. I had the birria tacos. Very greasy. The corn tortilla was soaked with oil even without the sauce. Flavor was OK. I also had a michelada. It was just OK. Definitely have had better. Pomegranate margarita - once their signature - is still pretty good. The other item we had was the shrimp tempura tacos. They were good, not great. The presentation of everything was very nice. To be fair, I'll keep going back now and then, maybe out of nostaglia, but it is no longer the best Mexican food around.

Beautiful setting but 45 minutes is too long to sit and wait for drinks. Then, dinner should not have arrived before we were not done with our cocktails. Our meal was OK, but it should have been served at a higher temperature than luke warm. It was not a great dining experience.

At first glance this seems like a modern establishment. Rather it's a lottery if you get put into solitary confinement in the corner or get an actual table. The seating maximizes on profit while cutting corners on customer comfort. I had no where to hang my coat or bag. The bathroom was disgusting. The food was dry and overpriced. The staff was incredibly overwhelmed and service was slow. Don't come here go to an actual mom and pop joint.

The best guacamole & salsa have ever had, they were freshly made & served. Overall everything was superb, just that the food is a bit on the salty side for my taste bud. Very good service & restaurant ambience was great for catching up with friends.

Large and gorgeous inside with great food and service. You can see the staff make fresh guacamole in some of the dining areas. I got the enchilada trio and they were tasty. I wish i had enough space in my gut for tacos so I can compare them with the street tacos I usually get.

Place was very spacious and very clean bathrooms (hard to find in NY). Food and drinks were also great. I like how they make the guacamole right in front of you. The birria tacos were fantastic, but what stole the show for me was the Mexican fried rice. That itself can be a meal.
