Arrived early and were told we had a little while to wait until check in, which was fine. What wasn't fine was them offering to put our bags in storage while we went downtown, and then coming back to check in and finding one of our bags sitting unguarded in the lobby. The elevator up to our third floor room was out of order, and our key didn't work which meant several trips up and down the stairs to get that fixed. The hallway outside of our room smelled like stale cigarettes. The room itself did not, but the bed frame broke as soon as I sat down on it and the queen bed room we had arranged ended up actually being two double beds. Positives: the front desk staff was friendly, the room itself is nice and the three light dimmers are handy. Flat screen TV is a nice addition (tho no cable), especially at a hostel. The location is decent, great considering the price. $70 a night for a private room with a shared bathroom right outside our door.

The hotel has been closed down now, don't go there. We had a reservation that they still owe us, and said they were gonna relocate us, but suddenly stop replying emails and calls. Even had a friend going there and they say they were gonna fix it, but this was just to say something to him. Don't go there.

First time in New York... Staff was great with early check in. Not very helpful with excessively loud radiator through the night, rolled their eyes at us. Might recommend earplugs if you stumble upon the same room! And light clothing as the rooms were very warm for the general population; but I was quite cozy. As far as the room itself, our expectations were low due to the fair pricing compared to typical New York accommodations. The rooms were okay; outdated but overall clean. Bathrooms were nothing special but did the job. Location was convenient for subway transportation but not much in the general area. If I went back I would want to stay closer to downtown or Brooklyn.

Great location and friendly staff. Rooms are a bit outdated, especially bathrooms. But in terms of price, it is totally fine. The rooms are clean and tidy. Just big enough. The bed is comfortable. The elevator is slow. There are supermarkets and a subway nearby.

On the whole we liked this hotel. It was well situated to Columbia University and it's Broadway location made it very easy to find transport. Staff was perfectly pleasant and accommodating. We secured an "en suite" room which meant we had our own private bath. The room was a little tired but clean and the bed was comfortable. A few steep steps up into the lobby from the entrance so, perhaps, not for the elderly or disabled.

Not a bad place to stay if you're visiting the city on a budget. Reservations online require a card, but upon check-in you'll learn they only accept cash. The lobby looks better than the rest of the place. The elevator is extremely small. Max of 5 people fit with no personal space. When you take the stairs it feels and looks like an old apartment. There are private rooms which include a bathroom, and basic rooms without bathrooms. The communal bathroom is located in the hallway, so it's not room-to-room sharing. Although, if that's an option I'm not aware of it. The private room was extremely small with just enough room to fit a double bed. The bathroom definitely felt cramped, but at least the essentials were provided. The room I stayed in didn't have a TV and the view wasn't anything special. The place is conveniently located about a 5 minute walk to the train station. I'd probably recommend this place as a last minute stay, or for anyone who wanted to stay in Manhattan for cheap.

Stayed here a few years ago. Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms are okay. Next to lots of shops if you want to walk locally and very close to a subway so you can get to anywhere in New York from here if you're a tourist.

Great location (metro station is 2 min away). Hostel is clean, staff is friendly and polite. Walls are relatively thin so it can get a bit noisy, but during our stay we were sorrounded mainly by quiet people. Rooms are very basic, bathrooms are sufficient. On the checkout day the give you the possibility of storing your luggage with an extra 2$ charge. I'd definitely recommend this place if you wanna get a great location for a relatively decent price.

An absolutely beautiful hotel with delightful staff. I went here when they were renovating, and the rooms looked nothing short of luxurious. The room was fit with great amenities and the breakfast had many options. If you are staying in New York for 1-10 days, this is absolutely the place for you . I highly recommend checking them out!

I stayed in 2018. The condition of the room was terrible, dirty, there were cockroaches in the bathroom and hallways. It was a hotel and there are still people living with open doors and leaving everything dirty in their wake. They treated me very well, but it is not a hostel and not a hotel either. On average it is a good price and good location, but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired and the room was tiny.

Small room with one very thin sheet for a blanket. Very little breakfast options, grimy bathroom with no bath mat and very basic amenities in the kitchen. Hallways had an unbecoming paint job and anyone talking in the hallways broadcast their conversation live to the entire floor. Dirt in the lift and the hallways and uneven and unclean flooring. Ground floor (living, kitchen, reception) were furnished sparsely and bathroom windows were so disgusting you couldn’t see out of them. Just another note - the lift is ridiculously small. So small. So so small. It was like a broom closet - we were able to fit in three small people and average carry-on size suitcases. Upon arriving at our floor the lift doors opened to a closed push door which gave the impression of being stuck in the lift. Our room, which I was with two other friends had only one single key (a normal metal one) which was extremely inconvenient when we split up. The people at the reception, however, were very welcoming and friendly, and the β€˜hotel’ provided complimentary coupon cards for popular tourism spots.

Great location- was in a shared female only room. The bathroom was clean and the common areas were nice. I was only in town for a weekend so I'm not sure what it's like for a long stay. The staff was friendly and helped fix any issues. Also they have a security guard at the front so it felt safe!

The staff was excellent. The hotel was clean except for the shared bathrooms. I thought they should have left a spray bottle of disinfectant so you could spray the shared shower floor and toilet seat off in between people. The elevator only holds 2 to 3 people. They had enough employees to help with bags but they never ask you if you would like help. There is no valet service so in the rain you have to park your car in a garage and walk. The garage is $50 per 24 hours. The view was okay and the temperature was great. They have the most comfortable beds and pillows i have ever slept on. They have a take one leave one library, a shared refrigerator and microwave, no coffee provided. They have a lady that comes in on the weekendvand sells breakfast items. Shared and comfy living room and computers. All in all it was okay.

Not a bad hotel. We stayed in a private room and found it much larger than expected. Very well located. The actual rooms and furnishing are old and slightly decayed. The rooms are acceptably clean but if you dig around such as touching the blinds, drawers and closet, you will find them rather dusty. The bathroom is stained, but not dirty. Otherwise we had a good stay for the price. Stay if you don't mind with such details. Pros: - Good location - Big and comfy beds - Working elevator (not so common in certain NYC areas) - Daily roomkeeping - Amenities are checked daily and replenished - Great communal area (we didn't use it though) - Additional services such as transfers, luggage storage, etc. Cons: - Not all reception staff are friendly - Rooms and furnishing are old and decaying P. S. Don't forget to get your $5 deposit back when checking out.

Good value for money and a great location. The only point of criticism is that the double hostel room was quite small

Fatal!! Terrible deal!! We made a reservation long before the COVID19 pandemic and we couldn't travel because the US closed borders and we haven't gotten the money back!! Don't make reservations here, they are scammers, they forced us to make a bank transfer and pay for the whole thing. Book before arrival

The hotel was clean and our stay was overall quite good. However, the first night the heating broke (middle of a cold storm) and they were not equipped with enough blankets. They arranged it within a couple of hours. Also, the manager was notoriously hard to get a hold of, for weeks. Other than that, the staff was very helpful and the facilities were good. The location was also very convenient.

Nice location but the outside looks much better than the interior. The rooms were nice actually. I booked a 2 people room and you have a mirror and a sink in your room. However, the toilets were terrible. In one bathroom, People were peeing everywhere. In the other one in our floor, there were bugs and cockroaches.

I encountered the worst cleanliness and guest service at this property. There were multiple visible stains on both the bedsheets and pillowcases on both of the twin beds. The blankets we received because the room was initially too cold were COVERED WITH HAIR. Even worse, both beds were slanted, and I could only sleep on my back the entire night. In addition, the front desk and the manager were rude. When I complained the second time about the heating and tried to leave the hotel with a refund, I was told that I felt cold, and it was my problem. Although they did fix the radiator, the attitude grossed me out. I stayed for one night and checked out two days early. No idea why this hostel would be a 2-star hotel. This is the first time that I don’t trust positive reviews more than bad reviews. All being said, I highly recommend to not stay here. I’m positive there are other cleaner and better hotels around the similar or lower prices.

I stayed at this place for one night. The staff was very friendly and helpful but they take only cash payments, and contrary to what the website claims: breakfast is NOT included! The lounge area downstairs was pleasant, but the room was very bare bones, a bit run down. I shared the room with another woman. It was clean, as were the bathrooms and hallways. The location is good, not far from, and an easy subway ride to, downtown. It's within walking distance of the Riverside Park, where you can walk along the Hudson River, and of Central Park, which was very nice. Overall I would say, you get what you pay for. I paid only $58 for a night. Really a bargain for NY City.

Optimal to rest during a visit to NY, just and necessary.

I booked a room through booking.com and I didn't go because of the COVID 19. When I phoned the staff said that they don't refund more than 50% after cancelation. First, I complained but they didn't change their answer. So, I accepted the refund of 50% but they stopped to respond. Finally, it is not booking I sent the mails directly to the hotel. I do not recommend to book something from them, because they immediately charge your card and they don't get that money back.
