The hotel is not as bad as it was described in the old reviews. They probably made some changes there. There were no bed bugs, I checked and the mattress seemed new. The furniture is very old indeed, but the room was clean-ish. I mean it was very clean after the people that were there before us(we didn’t sow any hairs, or stuff like that), but it really needs some deep cleaning. The hotel is pretty cheap for NYC and for the fantastic area! The staff was very, very nice.

The conditions are not deplorable or dirty but the furniture appears older and rooms are very small. The staff is nice and helpful. The location was right next to Central Park and good restaurants but room was very small, just big enough for the bed and a dresser. I gave the low rating primarily because the remote control for the TV wouldn't work, the toilet would not flush as it was clogged, and then the power short circuited in my room. I called the front desk as soon as I realized the AC unit had powered off and it was resolved within five minutes. If you are looking for a hotel with basic amenities (mini fridge, hair dryer, coffee maker), this is probably not the place you want to stay. I only stayed one night for work and picked the hotel based on location so for my purposes, it was fine. There are other hotels for $200 a night that would most likely be better.

I was only looking for a place to stay for just one night & this place was available for around $200 including taxes. Thank goodness it was only for a single night. The room is tiny - if i take just 4 steps, I'd be at the end of the room. The bathroom was tiny as well & the fan was very loud. The toilet did not flush very well - after a #2, you had to flush 3-4 times. The bathtub/shower had issues with the water draining - you would end up taking a shower with half of your feet submerged in water. The A/C seemed to give off a bad odor as well. For the price, you may want to deal with those things for a single night, but I would not recommend it for a longer stay.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Recently stayed 4 nights, with my daughter who booked trip. After reading reviews, I was concerned about the cleanliness and other things but we were in a very clean room. The bathroom looked brand new. Plenty of hot water, a/c and heater both worked great and the staff were so friendly. Also, the location is perfect. We could see central park from our room window. Definitely recommend those hotel for a NYC visit.

I love the location of this hotel right outside of Central Park! The rooms are definitely small and not fancy though at all. The building itself is only okay, and the elevator is tiny. The bathrooms are tight, but it's enough for staying! And the man at the front that greeted us was so kind and immediately helped get our bags inside from the Lyft and my wheelchair too. He was really conscientious, and that was really appreciated!

I love the location of this hotel. It was in the middle of everything made the commute shorter. The service was great as well, had a few hiccups nothing to complain about but the staff was on it right away. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because the hotel is out dated. It needs some upgrades and the rooms were smaller than pictured. The only ice machine a d snack machine are in the basement and the stairs to get to the basement are very steep and not safe for anyone with knee or hip issues. Overall the service was great! Just upgrades needed.

The staff is very helpful and nice! The rooms are outdated and do not feel super clean and are very small and dark. But when you are only sleeping there and exploring the city during the day, it’s okay to have your stay here.

DON'T EVEN MAKE A RESERVATION HERE!! THEY DON'T GIVE YOUR ROOM AND DON'T GIVE YOUR MONEY BACK. Suddenly they changed my reservation ON THE START DAY OF STAYING to the Square hotel and don't answer any of my calls.... I am still waiting for them to give my money back. If you don't want to ruin your ny trip, STAY AWAY!!! ------- As of Sept 1st, I can find my reservation cancelled on Priceline after making so many calls with Park west hotel extention line 0, reservation team and Priceline care team... (and NEVER believe in Parkwest hotel extention line 0 because they are in the same boat with reservation team..) However I will not delete this review becase it doesn't change the hotel refused to give my money back although they cancelled my reservation. This review is not for blaming the hotel but for letting you guys know about the fact. I would recommend "hotel 21 nyc" in long island city for you guys.

Nice hotel in a great location. The hotel has a euro charm with old school style. The staff was so nice and helpful. Right across the street from Central Park but very safe neighborhood. Late night food available a couple of blocks away. I would stay here again.

The location is west side of the central park but you need to walk at least three blocks to the hotel from MTA. The room service did not provide any service for three days out of 4 days of stay even when asked for. When I asked to clear my trash they did not do it. I myself clear the trash to the neighbouring bin. The bed sheet, towel and linen were also not changed for 4 days. Only a person present in the lobby. Cleanliness was poor. The room size is so small I barely walk beside my luggage.

The room wasn't deplorable, but it certainly wasn't aesthetically pleasing. Roach traps were visible in the hallways; there are water leak stains in the ceilings/walls. We were charged a security deposit in case we smoked in the room; we do not smoke and days after checking out it was a hassle to get this deposit back. There were not enough towels in the room and we were told that they had run out of towels, so they were unable to provide needed towels let alone extra bedding. The room is suitable to sleep which served its main purpose. The locale is pretty nice and convenient; directly across from Central Park and close enough to Time Square.

I’ve never left a review before, but felt the need to do so after my stay here. Do not stay here. The hotel staff was very nice, but the hotel room was dingy and gross.. it wasn’t at all like the pictures..there was stuff on the walls, stains on the mattresses, no clock or phone, and had a weird musty smell. To top it all off around 8:30am a man (who didn’t work for the hotel) used a key, opened our hotel room door, and tried to come in while we were still sleeping (we’re two younger girls in our 20s). Thank goodness we had our top bolt locked. Felt very unsafe. Then 25 minutes later the hotel staff knocked on our door until we responded to ask us if we needed anything?? Very odd since check out wasn’t until 12pm. Stay far away.
